Arlene H. Bell, 77, of Charles City, departed this life April 15, 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Ernestine Allen (Deacon Isaac) and Doris Tabb; one sister, Izola Cotman; one brother, James Hampton Sr.; one great-aunt, Emma Harris; one brother-in-law; five stepchildren, Clara Davis of Chester, Alice Jones, Naomi Brown and James Brown, all of Richmond, and Franklin Brown of Chesterfield; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews; a devoted ex-son-in-law, Ashton Tabb Sr.; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at J. Leroy Charity Funeral Home, Charles City. At noon Thursday, Mrs. Bell will rest at Little Elam Baptist Church where services will be held 2 p.m. Rev. Daniel Wallace officiating. Interment church cemetery.

BOYD
Departed this life April 12, 2001, Charles L. Boyd Jr. of 3714 Westcliffe Ave. He is survived by his loving wife, Madeline J. Boyd; one daughter, Melissa Lambert; three grandchildren, James Boyd, Tyrone Jr. and Telisa Lambert; mother, Mary L. Boyd; one sister, Evelyn Boyd; one brother, Sidney Boyd; aunts, uncles, several nieces, nephews and cousins; one son-in-law, Tyrone Lambert Sr.; three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral Thursday, 11 a.m., Great Hope Baptist Church, 2101 Venable Street, where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Earl Bledsoe (pastor) officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 10:45 a.m. Thursday.

BROWN
George C. Brown of Richmond died Monday, April 16, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Eva Brown; one daughter, Marjorie B. Henderson of Lexington, S.C.; two sisters, Virginia B. Jordan and Helen B. Proctor; two grandchildren, Scott and Shannon Henderson; and one great-granddaughter, Raelyn. Mr. Brown was a member of the Submarine Veterans of WWII. The visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Contributions to Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.

BURKE
Vivian Robinson Burke, formerly of 5445 Nutmeg Ct., Richmond, Va., departed this life April 13, 2001 at Chippenham Hospital. She is survived by her two sons, Edward and Kevin Burke; five grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Traci and Gwen Burke; one brother-in-law, two aunts, and a host of relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Carlton T. Brooks Funeral Home, 2200 Hull St. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 105 E. Pilkington St., and where remains will lie in state at 10 a.m. Dr. L.B. Samuel officiating. Interment Maury Cemetery. BURROUGHS
Louise "Lu" Clarke Burroughs, 97, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, in Williamsburg Community Hospital. Mrs. Burroughs was born in Urbanna, Va., in 1903 to the late Robert and Louisa Gresham, but was raised by foster parents, Samuel and Louise Regensburg. She was a resident of Richmond until she married William Harold Burroughs in 1951 and made a new home in Williamsburg. A member of Grace Baptist Church, Mrs. Burroughs was widely known and admired for her many accomplishments. Until her death, she sewed, crocheted, painted, wrote poetry and corresponded with a circle of friends. A seamstress since childhood, Mrs. Burroughs delighted her friends with her smartly coordinated outfits, including hats that she made. Last December her Sunday school class honored her with a birthday party to celebrate her joyful long life in which she gave much to everyone she met. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mildred Stone; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Newbill of Richmond and Liz Newbill of Urbanna; and a special cousin, Doris Hunt of Saluda; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; and her daughter, Vivian Clarke Enroughty. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Baptist Church. Interment will take place at 3 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond. DAVIS
Mary "Mikey" Davis, age 66, of Ruther Glen, Va., died Monday, April 16, 2001. Preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Sarvay, she is survived by two nieces, Deborah Lynn Sarvay and Susan S. Wimmer; two nephews, Richard W. Sarvay and John S. Sarvay; four great-nephews and one great-niece; her brother-in-law, John D. Sarvay. Remains rest Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. FITZGERALD
Mrs. Annie G. Fitzgerald of Nashville, Tenn. departed this life April 16, 2001. The staff of the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home is serving her family. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 21, 2001 in Nashville, Tenn.

GREGORY
Mrs. Willie Mae Gregory of Richmond departed this life Monday, April 16, 2001. Preceded in death by her son, Wilbur E. Gregory Jr.; her sister, Barbara Ann Drumgole; and her nephew, Rodney Drumgole. She is survived by her husband, Wilbur Gregory Sr.; two daughters, Kimberly Waller and Penny Gregory; one son, Paul Gregory; a host of grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers, Augustus, Phillip and Robert Drumgole; several aunts; a devoted daughter-in-law, Karen Gregory; one son-in-law, Bruce Waller; seven sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, among them devoted, Cathy, Patricia and Joann; a host of nephews, among them devoted, James; a host of cousins, among them devoted, Lila Mae Whitney, Earlene Green, Edith Powell and Elizabeth Cousins; other relatives and friends, among them devoted friends, Esther Scott and Betty Caplan. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts., where funeral services will be held Thursday, April 19, 1 p.m., Rev. Lloyd Cosby officiating. Interment in Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery, Chesterfield Co. Relatives and friends attending funeral services, assemble at the funeral home Thursday, 12:30 p.m.

HARLOW
William Howard Harlow, age 81, of Mechanicsville, went to be with his Lord Monday, April 16, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth E. Harlow. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda H. and John E. Goodrich of Hopewell; his grandchildren and their spouses, Heath and Patrese Samuels, Heather and David Talley, Megan Goodrich, and Becky and Tim Miller; six great-grandchildren, Kendra Cummings, Heath Samuels II, Danielle Samuels, Emmitt Talley, T.J. and Amanda Miller; one sister, Elizabeth Wagner; and other loving family members and friends. Mr. Harlow was a longtime devoted member of Harvest Baptist Church, was a retired foreman with the city of Richmond, and was an Army veteran of WWII. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday. Interment Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harvest Baptist Church Building Fund, 5561 Meadow Rd., Sandston, Va. 23150.

HILL
Billy O. Hill, age 73, died Monday, April 16, 2001. He was retired from McGuire VA Medical Center after 27 years of service and subsequently had served for 11 years as a door keeper for the General Assembly. He was a member of Manchester Masonic Lodge No. 14, The Acca Temple Shrine, The Provost Guard, The Scottish Rite Bodies and The Royal Order of Jesters. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Jennings Hill; one daughter, Alicia Hill Hotinger and son-in-law, James M. Hotinger; one granddaughter, Martha Anne Hotinger; two sisters, Wanda Rook and Kathaleen Holcomb; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen, where the service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park with graveside Masonic rites by Manchester Masonic Lodge No. 14. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, 7151 W. Belmont Rd., Chesterfield, Va.

JAMES
Norwood K. James, age 89, of Richmond, widower of Elizabeth James and Lottie M. James, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001. He is survived by Lottie's children, Edith D. Spiers of Richmond and W.T. Davis of Cincinnati, Ohio; also several nieces and nephews. Mr. James was retired from Henrico County, where he worked in the Building and Grounds Maintenance department at Glen Lea Elementary School. Remains rest Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

LEWIS
Joseph I. "Joe" Lewis, age 70, of Sarasota, Fla., born August 27, 1930, in Richmond, Va., died April 16, 2001, in Sarasota. He was an electrical engineer for the Environmental Protection Agency and a reservationist with US Airways. He received a bachelor of science in biology from Virginia State University and a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Howard University. He was an officer in the US Army; a member of St. Wilfred's Episcopal Church, Sarasota; a member of I.E.E.E. and Omega Psi Phi fraternity. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Chloteal; a daughter, Patrice A. Lewis of Columbia, Md.; a son, James Payne Lewis of Woodbridge, Va.; a sister, Jeanette Brown of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren, Chloe Lewis of Columbia, Md., and Kimberley Lewis of Woodbridge, Va.; two nieces, Donna and Cheryl Brown of Reston, Va.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held in Richmond, Va. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Virginia State University, c/o Development Office, P.O. MOORE
Lynn Moore, 48, of Richmond, died April 16, 2001. Daughter of the late Corrine Moore, she is survived by her father, Eddie Moore; children, Amanda and Jasson Moore; sister, Leanne Barrett; brothers, Kevin and Jeff Moore. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with interment at Dale Memorial Park.

NEAL
Betty A. Neal of Powhatan died April 14, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Gary K. Neal; two sons, Shannon Neal and Shaun Neal; one daughter, Stephanie Neal, all of Powhatan; her mother, Blanche P. Anderson of West Virginia; four brothers, Billy Anderson of Parisburg, Bob Anderson, Tim Anderson and Jessie Anderson; one sister, Rose Smith, all of West Virginia. PULLEY
Annie Mae Pulley, 82, of Powhatan, passed away April 16, 2001, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Pulley Sr.; and a son, Albert R. Pulley. She is survived by her children, Joyce Blommel and her husband, Patrick of Bon Air, John L. Pulley Jr. and his wife, Judy of Moseley, and Linwood R. Pulley and his wife, Patsy of Mechanicsville; two sisters, Martha Lena Pulley of Richmond and Pearlie Brett of Bluefield, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren. She was a member of Fidelis Bible Class of Bethel Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Baptist Church, 1100 Huguenot Springs Rd., Midlothian, Va. 23113. Interment Dale Memorial Park. J. William "Bill" Repak, 58, of Chester, died Saturday, April 14, 2001. He was a retired employee with 36 years service with Dupont. He is survived by his wife, Daryll B. Repak; two sons, Andrew W. Repak (Kimberly), Paul A. Repak (Susan), all of Chester; mother, Mattie R. Repak; and aunt, Betty L. Rook, both of Petersburg; mother and father-in-law, Pearl and Lawrence Brooks of Petersburg; and sister-in-law, Valerie B. Savage of Chester. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Baptist Church, 3355 Johnson Road, Petersburg, Va. 23805.
