Margaret Lucille Wingo

Margaret Lucille Wingo, of Rockville, MD, and formerly of Tazewell, died Jan. 17, 2006 at Rockville.

She was the beloved wife of Pierce Homer Wingo; loving mother of Geneva J. Warf, Sandra K. Earp, Margaret Ann Wingo and Liesa J. Kline; beloved sister of James D. Sayers and the late Betty Jo Hayton. Also survived by eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Central Baptist Church in Rockville.

Interment was at Monocacy cemetery in Beallsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Central Baptist Church, 7271 Muncaster Mill Rd., Rockville, MD 20855 or Hospice of the Pan Handle, 122 Waverly Ct., Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Devol Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

John Wesley Wyatt

John Wesley Wyatt, 44, of Tazewell, went home to be with Jesus Jan. 23, 2006 following a long illness.

Born Sept. 27, 1961 in Statesville, NC, he was a son of Lora Ellen McGuire of Tazewell and the late Hanford Wyatt.

He was a musician and loved his Fender Telecaster. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Monty, and one sister, Dorothy.

Additional survivors: wife of 25 years, Judy Wyatt; daughter, Julian "Frankie Angel" Wyatt of the home; son, Jon Shrader of Tazewell; brothers, David Wyatt and wife, Judy, of Tazewell, J.R. Wyatt and wife, Chris, of Ormond, FL; sisters, Linda Smith and husband, Ricky, of Morristown, TN, Pat Sheppard and husband, Mike, of Tazewell, Brenda Mincey and husband, Dale "Delmar," of Rutledge, TN, and baby sister, Marta Hunt of Abingdon.

The funeral was conducted Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell by the Rev. Roy Smith, longtime family friend and buddy to John.

Burial was private.

David Clinton Angles, Sr.

David Clinton Angles, Sr., 56, of Richlands, died Jan. 12, 2006 at the James A. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain City, TN.

Born June 7, 1949 in Tazewell County, he was a son of Mildred Lee Edwards Angles of Tazewell and the late Beverly Washington Angles, Sr.

He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a former employee of Pounding Mill Quarry at Pounding Mill and was of the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Carol Tipton and Joan Marie Wingo, and two brothers, Jerry Neal Angles and Beverly Washington Angles, Jr.

Additional survivors: wife, Lucille Lester Angles of Paint Lick; sons, David Clinton Angles, Jr. and wife, Samantha Lynn, of Norfolk, Daniel Angles of Richlands; daughter, Jamie Hope Carmody of Abingdon; sisters, Phyllis Griffith and husband, Bobby, and Sandra Miller and husband, Donald, all of Tazewell, Dorothy Asbury of Baltimore, MD; brothers, Larry Angles and Robert Angles and wife, Debbie, all of Tazewell, Michael Angles and wife, Kimberly, of Thompson Valley; grandchildren, David Michael Angles and Layla Christine Angles.

The funeral was conducted Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell with the Rev. Monte Elswick officiating.

Graveside services and burial were held Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. at Maplewood cemetery in Tazewell, where military graveside rites were conducted by the members of Barns Beavers V.F.W. Post #7136 of Tazewell.

Cecil Joseph Ball

Cecil Joseph Ball, 85, of Belfast, died Jan. 19, 2006 in a Richlands hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 14, 1920 in Russell County, he was the son of the late Thomas Robert and Minnie Peck Ball.

He was of the Holiness faith, a minister for 53 years and a retired farmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Ball and Thomas Robert (June) Ball, Jr., and one son-in-law, Carl Sargent.

Survivors: wife of 60 years, Pauline Reynolds Ball; daughter, Ileen Ball Sargent of Claypool Hill; son, Danny Ball and wife, Bonnie, of Cedar Bluff; sister, Euva Ball Robins of Baptist Valley; granddaughters, Sheila Sargent Ingram and Susan Ball Jackson; great grandchildren, Bobby Jackson III, Tanah Jackson, Brock Jackson and Aaron Curtis Ingram; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

The funeral was conducted Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Clarence Brown and Rev. Ellis Whited officiating.

Burial followed in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.

Donald Eugene Ball

Donald Eugene Ball, 74, of Road Ridge, went to be with the Lord Jan. 20, 2006 in a Bristol, TN hospital following a brief illness.

Born Mar. 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Dewey and Myrtle Cordle Ball.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He lived his entire life at Road Ridge and was a member of the Road Ridge Assembly of God Church. He was a retired coal miner from Island Creek Coal Company VP1 for 24 years and was a member of the U.M.W.A.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, who raised him, Albert and Eddie Horton Ball; eight brothers, Carl, Lawrence, Marvin, James, Carness, Dahmon, Willard and Billy Ball; five sisters, Myrtle Ball Short, Ethel Ball Short, Alta Ball Lowe, Oakley Ball Carr and Frances Ball. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family in his generation.

Survivors: wife of 53 years, Myrtle McGlothlin Ball; son, Gary B. Ball and wife, Josephine, of Road Ridge; daughters, Regina Blalock and husband, Danny, of Newport News, Jolena Martin and Teddy Dye of Clarks Valley; granddaughters, Michelle Russ, Nichole Ball, Blane Ball and Jessica Blalock; grandson, Christopher Blalock; great granddaughters, Larissa Martin, Laken Martin, Madison Cecil and Taylor Dye; great grandsons, Ashton Lowe and Logan Dye; and a host of good friends and neighbors.

The funeral was conducted Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Road Ridge Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jerry Welch and Rev. James Salyers officiating

Burial followed in the Ball Family cemetery at Road Ridge.

The family received friends at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff from 6-9 p.m. Jan. 22 and after 6 p.m. Jan. 23 at the church.

Dollie (Bonnie) Blankenship

Dollie (Bonnie) Blankenship, 59, of Jewell Valley, died Jan. 21, 2006 at her home.

Born May 12, 1946 in Jewell Valley, she was the daughter of the late Beve and Vernal White. She was of the Holiness faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant twins, Johnny and Dona Blankenship; two brothers, Button White and Andrew White; and two sisters, Mildred Rogers and Ruth White.

Survivors: husband of 43 years, Vester Blankenship; daughters, Lisa Shortridge and Christine Blankenship, both of Richlands, Teresa Underwood of Brown Mountain, Tena Sherman of Myrtle Beach, SC; sons, Vester Blankenship, Jr. of Paintlick, Beve Blankenship of Richlands; sisters, Lula Mae Ellis of Wauchula, FL, Betty Sommers of Ft. Royal; brothers, Erwin White of Dunnellon, FL, Wallace White of White Springs, FL, Thomas Fred White of Vale, NC, Carl White of Damascus, Loyd White of Summersville, WV; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral and burial were private.

Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff was in charge of arrangements.

George "Dude" Bourne

George Curtis "Dude" Bourne, 83, of Gratton, went to be with the Lord Jan. 16, 2006 following a long illness.

Born Sept. 13, 1922 at Gratton, he was a son of the late Jesse P. and Hattie Mae Hagy Bourne.

He was a life long resident of Gratton and was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church of Gratton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II from 1942 thru 1945. He was retired from C & A Lumber Company and enjoyed farming.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit and Arnold "Doc" Bourne; and two sisters, Alma Bourne Chaffins and Ercell Bourne Etter.

Survivors: wife of 59 years, Louise Buchanan Bourne; brother, James Bourne and wife, Crystal, of Gratton; special niece, Wilma Colley; and several other nieces and nephews.

The funeral was conducted Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Rodney Lawson officiating.

Burial followed at Mt. Olivet cemetery at Gratton, where military graveside rites were conducted by members of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the building fund of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, C/O Sue Fox, Treasurer, 7391 Clearfork Rd., Bastian, VA 24314.

Judy Katherine Boyd

Judy Katherine Kinder Boyd, 63, of Raven, died Jan. 21, 2006 at a local Richlands hospital.

Born in Jewell Ridge, she was the daughter of Evelyn White Kinder of Jewell Ridge and the late Paul Kinder, a native of Jewell Ridge.

She was a graduate from Richlands High School Class of 1960. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.

Additional survivors: loving husband of 34½ years, Robert Clinton Boyd; daughters, Ginger K. Bush and husband, Ray, of Castlewood, Roberta Allison Boyd of the home; son, Mark Steven Boyd of Lancaster, SC; sisters, Sue Boyd and husband, Don, of Abingdon, Linda Collins and husband, Charles, of Bristol, VA, Jeanette Johnson and husband, Ronnie, of Jewell Ridge, Pauline Taylor and husband, Mike, of Rosedale, Alice Kinder of Blacksburg; brothers, Paul Richard Kinder and wife, Pat, of Honaker, Douglas Kinder and wife, Diane, of Jewell Ridge; and grandchildren, Katie Smith of Castlewood and Bethany Boyd of Bristol, VA.

The funeral was conducted Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Paul Kinder and Rev. Mike Taylor officiating.

Interment followed at the Sawyers Family cemetery at Smith Ridge.

Danny Carl Davidson

Danny Carl Davidson, 56, died Jan. 16, 2006 in a Butuan City, Philipines hospital.

Born June 23, 1949 in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Harlan and Doris Davidson.

He had lived most of his life in the Buchanan County area and attended Corinth Baptist Church in Council. He was a United States Marines veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was formerly employed as a coal miner with Island Creek Coal Company. He was a member and former employee of the UMWA.

Survivors: wife, Di May Lee Davidson of Philipines; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Penny Davidson of Lebanon; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Eddie Smith of Lebanon; grandchildren, Logan Ratliff, Alexis Davidson, and Hunter Smith; sisters, Mary Davidson of Rex, GA, Patricia Davidson of Honaker; and brothers, Harlan Lee Davidson and Gerald Davidson, both of Council.

Burial took place in the Philipines because of the love he had for the children and the peace and joy he found fulfilling his last days here on earth. He felt this was his calling and God gave him this time to have his dream. His spirit will always be here with his family, as well as the family he had come to love there. May his spirit rest in peace. We give God the honor and the praise for allowing him to fulfill his lifetime dream.

Private memorial services were conducted Jan. 22 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel in Honaker with Rev. Paul Mays officiating.

Jimmy Willard Dye

Jimmy Willard Dye, 59, of Raven, died Jan. 19, 2006 in a Richlands hospital.

Born Feb. 4, 1946 in Tazewell County, he was the son of Clara Stevenson Dye of Raven and the late Jency Dye.

He was a member of Fork Ridge House of Prayer.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Dye; one brother, Sidney Johnson; and two sisters, Johnnie Dales and Helen Hill.

Additional survivors: sons, David Dye of Cedar Bluff, Ricky Hunt and Keith Hunt, both of Honaker; daughters, Kimberly Marquette and Tammy Harrison, both of Anderson, SC, Therese Barton of Honaker; brothers, Charlie Dye and Jessie Dye, both of Swords Creek; sisters, Mary Absher of Raven, Lojean Hawkins of Manassas, Ginger Smith of Red Ash, Betty Jean Colley of Council, Dorothy Fields of Raven; grandchildren, Kristene Dye, Joshua Dye, Kelli Dye, Brad Dye, Heather Shyanna Hunt, Jeremy Hunt and Aaron Hunt; and special friends from Cumberland Mountain Community Service, Robert, Jan and Vanessa.

The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Jan. 22 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Eddie Hess officiating.

Burial followed in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park cemetery at Big Rock.

Terry Hall

Terry Hall, 51, of Lebanon, died Jan. 20, 2006 at her home following a long illness.

She was an employee of H & R Block at Lebanon and was an avid animal lover and member of the Humane Society. She attended the Belfast Full Gospel Fellowship Church and Souls Harbor Ministries Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, brother, maternal grandparents and a special mother-in-law, Grace Hall.

Survivors: loving husband, Donnie Hall; son, Aaron Watson of Lebanon; step daughter, Crystal Hall of Richlands; father and step mother, Cliff and Avie Hutchinson of Knoxville, TN; brothers, Darrell Vincent and Michael Vincent, both of Mississippi, Jay Vincent of North Carolina; special father-in-law, Clarence Hall of Richlands; and a special K-9 companion, Molly.

The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Danny Altizer and Rev. Doug Allen officiating.

Burial followed in the Grandview Memory Gardens cemetery at Bluefield, VA.

Carl Preston Herald

Carl Preston Herald, 75, of Tazewell, died Jan. 14, 2006 at Tazewell Community Hospital.

Born Aug. 31, 1930 in Tazewell, he was a son of the late Jessie Franklin "Deck" Herald and Minnie Lee Hall Herald.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a life member of the Barns Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Herald and Jessie Herald, and one sister, Margaret Ellen Amburgey.

Survivors: brothers, Curtis Herald and wife, Janice, Clyde Herald and wife, Ailene, John Herald and William Herald, all of Tazewell; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Jan. 19 at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel in Bluefield, VA with Pastor Rick Herald officiating.

Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home of Tazewell was in charge of arrangements.
