HALLE
Hennie Halle, 78, of Richmond, died September 9, 2002 after a long illness. She is survived by her sons, Richard of Midlothian, Willy of Palm Springs, Calif., Peter and wife, Bethany of Powhatan County and Michael of Cambridge, Mass. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 12 at 1 p.m. at Crestwood Presbyterian Church, 6627 Jahnke Road, Richmond. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Crestwood Presbyterian Church Building Fund.

HARRELL
Irene Marie Bouchard Harrell of Mineral, Va. died Monday, September 9, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Jim D. Harrell; three sons, R. Scott Harrell of Richmond, David A. Harrell of Mechanicsville, John P. Harrell of Richmond; her grandson, Justin Michael Harrell; two granddaughters, Taylor Marie Harrell and Rachel McKenzie Harrell; her brother, Armond J. Bouchard of Utah; two cousins, Doris Calista of Rhode Island and Joseph Dion of Massachusetts. Her remains rest at the Lacy Funeral Home, Rt. 522, Mineral, Va., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in Little River Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

HARRIS
Grace Virginia Hunter Mickels Harris, 87, of Moseley, departed this life on September 10, 2002. Survivors include her children, Lelia Kay Baugh and her husband, Thomas, of Moseley and Stuart W. Harris Jr., and his wife, Kathleen of Phoenix, Ariz; five grandchildren, one great-grandson; two brothers, Woodrow W. Hunter and Roy L. Hunter, both of Marion, N.C.; a sister, Fannie H. Cranford of San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Harris retired from Retreat Hospital after 57 years of service as a nurse. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chesterfield Baptist Church.

Departed this life September 9, 2002, Mrs. Daisy I. Hite of Richmond. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

HUNSICKER
Grace Van O'Linda Hunsicker, 78, of Petersburg, a former resident of Richmond, died Wednesday, September 4, 2002. Survivors include her son, Jeff Hunsicker of Richmond and his wife, Lynn; two daughters, Linda Clarke of Petersburg and her husband, Lee Clarke and Cathy Helquist of Richmond and her husband, Eddie Helquist; a daughter-in-law, Lawson Hunsicker of LaGrange, Georgia, wife of the late Charles Hunsicker Jr.; her brother, William I. Meyers IV of Richmond and his wife, Jackie: her sister, Lemoine Angheld of Akron, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held Sunday, September 22 at 3 p.m. at New Jerusalem Fellowship Church, 5500 Middle Road, Prince George, Va., phone 458-1039. McDONALD
Helen Cecelia Dreelin McDonald of Sandston, Va., widow of Donald F. McDonald, died Monday, September 9, 2002. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Crawford and her husband, John; and sons, Ronald McDonald and his wife, Marion and James McDonald and his wife, Deborah. Also surviving her are four granddaughters, Cecelia Crawford, Kara, Sally and Anna McDonald. She was the last surviving member of her generation of the Dreelin and McDonald families, and was cherished by her nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A special thanks to her caregivers, Crystal, Cheryl, Ethel and Larra. The family will receive visitors Thursday, September 12, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va., where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday with interment at Washington Memorial Park. Mr. Dustin C. Mears, age 17, died Monday, September 9, 2002. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Rita K. and James W. Seamster of Brodnax; his father, James A. Major of Gloucester; two brothers, Phillip Mears Jr. and Clifton Seamster, both of Brodnax; two sisters, Shelly Major of South Hill and Amanda Major of Brodnax. Also surviving are the grandparents, Elsie Lucille and Dover Lee Welch of Skipwith, Leslie Allen Kirkland of Brodnax, Robert Major and Annie Major, both of Skipwith; and his girlfriend, Brandy Buckle of Gloucester. A celebration of life service will be conducted by Pastor Steve Gulbronson on Thursday, September 12 at 2 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Canaan Cemetery. PERKINS
Roy Lee Perkins Sr., 83, of Midlothian, retired employee with the State of Virginia, went to be with the Lord September 9, 2002. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth L. Perkins; two sons, Roy Lee Perkins Jr. and his wife, Dinah and Garland W. Perkins and his wife, Susan; four sisters, Gladys Collins, Vanessa Harris, Ruth Carson and Edith Hickman; four brothers, Lester, George, Ernest and Lawrence Perkins; two granddaughters, Stephanie Kingery and her husband, Sean and Dana Lee Baker and her husband, Chase; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Morgan and Logan; also two stepgrandchildren, Heather and Dustin. Mr. Perkins was a member of Fine Creek Baptist Church. He was a veteran of WWII, a D-Day survivor, Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster recipient and a member of Al Bartraw Junior, Chapter No. 50 of DAV. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where services will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m. Interment Dale Memorial Park. Warren Pulley of Brodnax died September 10, 2002. Survived by his daughter, Judy Eastwood and her husband, Ronnie of Lawrenceville; two sisters, Gracie Jones of Blackridge and Lula Farmer of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Lisa E. Dorothy Lee Theresa Fick Ramsey, 76, wife of the late Herman B. Ramsey Jr., died Monday, September 9, 2002 after a two- year battle with lung cancer. Born in Petersburg, Va., a graduate of St. Joseph's High School and Richmond Polytechnic Institute, she was a registered nurse previously employed by McGuire Veterans Hospital and the office of Dr. John Good and Dr. John Pope. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 45 of Richmond. She is survived by her daughter, Brenna Page Ramsey; future son-in-law, Brad Wilson Haley; two brothers, John M. Fick and Charles W. Fick, both of Colonial Heights; ten sisters, Winifred Walton of Sumter, S.C., Barbara McCullen of Enon, Catherine Grantham of Hattiesburg, Miss., Virginia Lang of Richmond, Shirley Hite of Waynesboro, Ann Furr of colonial Heights, Audrey Hughes of Chester, Jean Gibbs of Dinwiddie, Evelyn Bryant and Eleanor Fick, both of Jackson, Tenn.; her sister-in-law, Virginia Buffin; and many loving nieces and nephews. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. She is survived by five daughters, Wanda McDonald, Catherine Johnson, Loleta Marrow, Tina Richardson and Karen Williamson; son, Charles Edward Richardson III; 25 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marcia McDonald and Shirley Gillison; four sons-in-law, Michael Marrow, Jerome Johnson, Don Williamson and Rene' Cooper; one grandson-in-law, four aunts, two uncles, a host of other relatives and friends, including one devoted, Alma McClain. Julia Richardson Shannon, 73, of Richmond, widow of Howell Franklin Shannon Jr., died Tuesday, September 10, 2002. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Randolph Shannon and Julia Wickham Shannon; her granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth Anderson; her sister, Elizabeth Richardson Shannon and her husband, Dr. David Gray Shannon. Mrs. Shannon was a graduate of Collegiate School and attended Sweet Briar College. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, the Tuckahoe Woman's Club and the Windsor Farms Garden Club. Mrs. Shannon was a former member of The Country Club of Virginia. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 12 in Hollywood Cemetery. John Edward "Johnny" Short, 59, of Hanover, died Monday, September 9, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Nora T. Short; daughter, Cindy Short McCray and husband, Steve; two sons, John Stacy Short and Derek Lee Short; grandson, Sean Allister McCray; and four sisters, Judith S. Grubbs, Beverly A. Moody, Rosalie B. Packett and Sherry S. Thomas. Remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and where services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2002. STARKE
Richard L. Starke, 52, of Chesterfield, was received by the heavenly angels September 10, 2002. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Starke Jr. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patsy G. Starke; his children, Richard L. Starke Jr. and his wife, Jessica, Michael C. Starke and his wife, Erin and Terry Rogers Jr.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Starke; sister, Shirley S. Lewis and her husband, Bruce; and grandchildren, Jacob, Nathan, David and Dakota; one special friend, Frank Penland; and a devoted niece, Shannon R. Rogers; and extended family. He was a retired Philip Morris employee with 30 years of service, a Little League baseball coach and an avid NASCAR fan. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and where funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Thursday. WARE
Mary Ellis Ware of Richmond and Wares' Wharf, Va. died Saturday, September 7, 2002, following a brief illness. The daughter of William L. Jr. and Mary Garnett Ellis Ware, she was born December 25, 1931. Ellis attended St. Margaret's School, Averett College, Richmond Professional Institute and Virginia Commonwealth University, earning a B.S. degree and a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology. For some years, she was employed by Cabell Eanes Advertising Agency as copywriter and creative director. Later, she was clinical psychologist at the Bon Air Diagnostic Center and the Beaumont Learning Center. Ellis was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, William Latane' Ware III and is survived by many relatives and friends, including, Jean Garver and Joey of Richmond. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 15 at the Rappahannock Christian Church Cemetery.
