HODGES
Harold E. Hodges Jr., 75, of Tappahannock died June 2, 2002. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time. Interment Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Catherine; sons, Roger, James, Howard; and his daughter, Cynthia; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

HOFFMANN
John R. (Jack) Hoffmann of Alexandria, Va. died on June 2, 2002 in Mt. Vernon Hospital after an extended illness. He was 77. He is survived by Arlene Bibb Hoffmann, his bride of 50 years; his children, John R. Jr., David M., Kathryn and Dina Chettle; eight grandchildren; his twin sister, Helen Cadoret of Bradenton, Fla.; and brothers, Joe Hoffmann of Norfolk, Va. and Frank Hoffmann of Richmond. Mr. Hoffmann graduated from John Marshall High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945. He then attended Virginia Tech and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. From 1952 until his retirement in 1980 he worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Washington area. At retirement he worked for The Directorate of military Programs, coordinating the worldwide requirements of energy related programs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 310 S. Royal St., Alexandria, Va. on Thursday, June 6 at 1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Father Krempa Scholarship Fund, c/o St. Mary's Church, Alexandria, Va. 22314.

HOLLADAY
Elizabeth Ann Holmes Holladay, 42, left this life on June 3, 2002 after a stubborn and courageous battle with leukemia. She was a registered nurse who gave of herself in her profession. A just, righteous and caring woman, Liz always gave more of herself than she ever expected in return. She was a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend whose spirit and love will live in all those who were privileged to know her. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandparents, Emma and Carl Whittier and Marian and Cecil Holmes; and her mother, Constance Whittier Holmes. She is survived by her loving husband, David; daughter, Hannah; son, Will; father and stepmother, David Holmes and Dolly Doughty; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marcia and Joe Alexander, Carol and Jim Deyerle and Susan and Kevin Holt; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Phebe and Pete Holladay; brother-in-law and fiancee, Jim Holladay and Ellen Antoinacci; sister-in-law and husband, Katherine and John Zampolin; numerous aunts, uncles, niece, nephews, cousins, friends and extended Yellowstone family. Special thanks to her family of caregivers at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, whose support is beyond description. A memorial service will be held at the Beale Memorial Garden, Hollins University, on Saturday, June 8 at 10 a.m., followed by a celebration of Elizabeth's life at the Holladay home in Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America or the Georgia Mountain Unitarian Church, Dahlonega, Ga.

HUDDLE
After a long courageous battle, Stuart Willard Huddle Jr., 38, of Chesterfield, found peace with the Lord on June 2, 2002. His memory will be cherished by his father and mother, Stuart and Brenda Huddle; his sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Michael Angelopulos; nephew and niece, Ryan and Madison Angelopulos; grandmother, Bertha Bell. Stuart was the honored godfather of Peyton Carter Worrell and was loved by many other relatives and friends. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road. Funeral services and interment will be held at Chesterfield Baptist Church, 16520 Hull Street Road, Wednesday June 5 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to Chesterfield Baptist Church Building Fund or to Hospice of Central Virginia.

HUTCHINSON
William H. "Babro" "Hut" Hutchinson Sr. went home to be with the Lord Jesus on June 2, 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Fannie Hutchinson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Joyce Robinson Hutchinson; two daughters, Patrice H. Randall and Ivy H. Pleasants; one son, William H. Hutchinson Jr.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Warner Hutchinson Sr. of Richmond and Clifford Alvin Hutchinson of Baltimore, Md.; three sisters, Bessie H. Prince of Atlanta, Ga., Alice H. Copes of Beaufort, N.C. and Gloria H. Ross of Richmond; one uncle, a host of nieces and nephews; two sons-in-law, Calvin Randall and Christopher Pleasants; three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Remains will lie in state Thursday, 12 noon at Thirty-First Street Baptist Church, 823 N. 31st St., where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Dr. Darrel Rollins, pastor, officiating. Burial Forest Lawn Cemetery.

JACKSON
Departed this life June 3, 2002, Leander Y. Jackson of 1120 West Hundred Road. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral notice later.

JONES
Malvin S. Jones Sr. of Charles City departed this life June 2, 2002. He is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice Geraldine Jones; three sons, Malvin S. Jr., Anthony R. and Darrin R. Jones, all of Charles City; three grandsons, Anthony Jr., Malvin S. III and Mario Jones; two stepgrandchildren, three sisters, Gladys Craddock (John), Elizabeth Johnson and Jeanette Atkins (Raymond); one brother, Sias Jones (Mildred) of Lancaster, Calif.; eight sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at J. Leroy Charity Funeral Home, Charles City. At 11 a.m. Thursday, Mr. Jones will rest at Little Elam Baptist Church, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Rev. Robert W. Young officiating. Interment church cemetery.

KOELLERMEIER
Helene Augusta Koellermeier, 87, of Richmond, died Monday, June 3, 2002. She was retired from Davenport & Co. Miss Koellermeier was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She is survived by her sister, Elsa Reinhold Smith and her husband, Gordon E. Smith Jr. of Richmond; two nephews, Theodore R. Smith of Dunedin, Fla. and Michael L. Grenesko; and one niece, Betty Ann Grill, both of Pittsburgh, Pa. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and where services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, June 6. Interment private in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 503 N. Lombardy St., Richmond, Va. 23220.

LACOSS
Leon H. Lacoss Jr., 68, of Ashland, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon H. Sr. and Edna Lacoss and is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara D. Lacoss; and their children, Christropher and Rhonda Lacoss, Jeannette Lacoss and Katherine Johnson; also two grandchildren, Sabrina and Samuel. Leon served in the U.S. Air Force and was employed by Martin Oldsmobile-Toyota. Friends may call at the Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., on Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 105 S. Snead Street, Ashland. Interment private. LINKOUS
Ronnie Lee Linkous Sr., 51, departed this life Monday, June 3, 2002. He was a loving father to five children, Ronnie Lee Jr., Jeffrey Keith, Jennifer Leah, John Warren and Joseph Beale Linkous; two grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Ronnie was self-employed and in his earlier years served his community as an EMT and Deputy Sheriff. He received an honorable discharge from the Army National Guard after eight years of service. He will be forever in the memory of his former wife, Lynn Skrobiszewski Linkous. Arrangements by Richardson Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad.

MacLEOD
Charles Colston MacLeod of Richmond died of cancer June 1, 2002 at the home of his sister in Birmingham, Ala. He was 66. Mr. MacLeod was born December 24, 1935, the son of Charles C. and Margaretta MacLeod, in Lynchburg, Va. He is survived by his sister, Louisa MacLeod Haines of Birmingham; his twin brother, John P. MacLeod of Midlothian, Va.; sister, Margaretta Alietta of Charlottesville, Va.; and a brother, Roderick MacLeod of Pamplin, Va. Mr. MacLeod was retired as a stockbroker with the firm of Scott and Stringfellow, in Richmond. He was a graduate of the Virginia military Institute. He served as a First Lieutenant and Airborne Ranger with the Third Army. A family service will be held at a later date.

MITCHELL
David Wayne Mitchell, age 50, of Aylett, Va, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 2, 2002. He leaves behind his loving wife, Terry H. Mitchell; two sons, David Scott Mitchell and Jason Bowen, all of Aylett; his devoted mother, Bessie M. Mitchell of Richmond; two brothers, Wyatt Douglas Mitchell of Chesterfield, Va., and Lewis Fountain Mitchell Jr. of Palmyra, Va.; two sisters, Frances Shumaker of Varina and Martha Chaulkley of Midlothian; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; other relatives and close friends. Mr. Mitchell was the owner and president of Lumina-Mitchell Electrical Corp. and proud member of the 600 Hunt Club. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 5 at 2 p.m. at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. Interment to follow at Hanover Memorial Park.

MOSS
Anthony "Tony" Moss of Richmond, retired employee of Figgie Corp., International, passed away June 2, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Julia Moss; daughter, Gloria Norland of West Lake Village, Calif.; son, Anthony Robert Moss of Shelbourne, Vt.; three grandchildren, Marc Norland of Newport, R.I. and Patrick Moss and Haley Moss, both of Shelbourne, Vt. Mr. Moss was a member of the Crossings Golf Club. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. MUSTIAN
Carroll Thomas (Tom) Mustian, 58, passed away Sunday morning June 2, 2002 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Anne Gordon Hueston Mustian; his son, Wilson Thomas Mustian; his daughter and son-in-law, Anne Carroll and Brian Ezzelle; his children's grandmother, Anne Love Roberson; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Love, Meredith Katherine and Alexander Carroll Ezzelle; his stepson and daughter-in-law, W.G. (Tripp) and Jennifer Hueston and their children, Tyler and Meghan; and his first cousin, Patty Richwine. Mr. Mustian was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancye Roberson Mustian; and his parents, Tom and Ruth Mustian. Mr. Mustian graduated from the Virginia military Institute in 1965 and he received his J.D. from the T.C. Williams School of Law in 1968. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve earning the grade of Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Mustian was the senior partner in the Law Firm of Mustian and Parker for 25 years. He had been an active member of the Virginia State Bar and the Henrico Bar Associations for over 30 years. Mr. Mustian was a long-time member of River Road Church, Baptist and he was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of West Richmond and the Westhampton Masonic Lodge, L.P. Michaels No. 302. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002 in the Chapel of River Road Church, Baptist. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be sent to the Virginia military Institute Foundation, P.O. Box 932, Lexington, Va. 24450.

NEWTON
Joe S. Newton, 49, of Powhatan, died June 2, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Faye B. Newton; one son, Joe S. Newton Jr. of Powhatan; his parents, Earl and Arlene Newton of Powhatan; two brothers, Richard E. Newton of Ga., John C. Newton of Midlothian; one sister, Carrie N. Pollock of Hampton. A memorial service will be held Friday, 1 p.m., in the Powhatan United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Powhatan United Methodist Church.

REED
Departed this life May 29, 2002, Raymond P. Reed of 3208 E. Broad Street. He is survived by one daughter, Biance L. Taylor; one son, Raymond Taylor; one grandson; five sisters, Elizabeth R. (Sistee) Johnson, Lily R. Jerkins, Yvonne Jones, Gertrude Reed and Marie (Cookie) LaBorde Gibson; two brothers, Nathaniel Johnson and Robert Reed; two aunts, Mary Branch and Sophia R. Elam; several nieces, nephews and cousins, two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and other relatives and friends, among them devoted, Louise Reed. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the cemetery 10:45 a.m. Thursday.

ROWLAND
Entered into rest June 3, 2002, Mrs. Vivian Durand Rowland, 84, of Augusta, Ga., currently a resident of Sunrise Assisted Living in Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Platt's Crawford Ave. Chapel, Augusta, Ga., with the Rev. Mark E. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. A lifelong resident of Augusta, Mrs. Rowland was a homemaker and longtime member of Curtis Baptist Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William B. Rowland Jr. and Janice Flanders Rowland of Richmond, Va.; one brother, Mr. C. Vernon Durand of of North Augusta, S.C.; three grandchildren, Rachael A. Rowland of Alexandria, Va., Rebecca A. Rowland of Richmond, Va., and William B. (Bart) Rowland III of New York City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Curtis Baptist Church, 1326 Broad St. Augusta, Ga. 30901. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight (Wednesday). Platt's Funeral Home, 721 Crawford Ave., Augusta, Ga. 30904.
