SUBUDHI
Dr. Profulla Chandra Subudhi, age 61, of 10009 Cheyenne Ct., Richmond, Va., died September 8, 2002. Dr. Subudhi came to the U.S. from Orissa, India in 1965, and received his Ph.D. from Wayne State University in Detroit. Since 1979, he worked as a senior chemist for the City of Richmond. He was a dedicated father who valued family above all. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Beverly Subudhi; daughter, Joya; three sons, Deepak, James and Christopher; mother-in-law, Beulah Rodd, and six loving sisters. His remains rest at the Cremation Society of Virginia. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at 10040 Hobby Hill Rd. on Wednesday, September 11. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made for the college education of Christopher Subudhi.

WEAVER
Martha Wright Weaver, 82, of Midlothian, died August 25, 2002. She was the widow of Dr. William J. Weaver Jr. and a retired local registered nurse with Hospice. She is survived by her children, Martha Marie Weaver of Brighton, Mich., William J. Weaver III of Painter, Va., Kenneth Wright Weaver of Ocala, Fla. and Timothy Jon Weaver of Winchester, Va.; also eight grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 11 at 11 a.m. at Brandermill Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association, 919 N. WHITEHEAD
Mrs. Princetta Crewe Whitehead of Charles City received her heavenly call on September 7, 2002 and slipped quietly into the presence of our precious Lord. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Robert Whitehead Sr.; and leaves to cherish her beautiful memory five daughters, Valerie and Princess Whitehead, Marcia Brown, Varnee Quarles and Vanita Person-Vaughan (George Jr.); one son, Robert Whitehead Jr. (Shelly); 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Jones Deschenes (Clairmont) and Mable Brown; two brothers, Calvin (Mary) and Emerson (Dorothy) Crewe; one brother-in-law, Ottoway Brown (Laverne); one devoted cousin, Cornelius Whitehead; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her remains rest at J. Leroy Charity Funeral Home, Charles City. Homegoing services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, September 12 at Gilfield Baptist Church, Charles City. Rev. WHITLOCK
Elizabeth DeShazo Whitlock, age 98, of Richmond, died Sunday, September 8, 2002. Mrs. Whitlock was the widow of Roy D. Whitlock, and was born in King and Queen County on February 22, 1904 to Dr. John Newton and Laura Porter DeShazo. Elizabeth taught in Public Schools of Essex County 14 years. She was a member of Ginter Park United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and trustee emeritus of Ferrum College. She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Nancy and Gouldin Tignor of Tappahannock, Newton and Donna DeShazo of Gloucester, and Sarah DeShazo Carreras of Tappahannock; also numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Remains rest at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Essex Cemetery, Tappahannock. WINSTON
Helen Inez Mosby-Winston, age 90, departed this life September 7, 2002 at her daughter's home. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Josephine Burrus of Charlottesville, Va.; and stepson, Edwin K. Winston. She leaves to mourn one brother, Joseph Mosby of Washington, D.C.; four daughters, Helen Baltimore of Middleburg, Va., Elaine Hughes of Charlottesville, Va., Bertha Keyes of Crozet, Va. and Barbara Jones of Richmond, Va.; one son, John Winston of Richmond, Va.; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Winston of Richmond, Va.; one son-in-law, Samuel T. Baltimore of Middleburg, Va.; four sisters-in-law, Della Lasley, Eva Hall, Inez Thurston, Katie Winston of Louisa, Va.; one brother-in-law, Robert Winston of Louisa, Va.; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a devoted friend, Mannie Giles; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends may call on Wednesday, September 11 from 12 noon until time of funeral service, 1 p.m. at the Whalen Baptist Church, Louisa, Va. Interment will be at the First Baptist Church Cemetery, Louisa, Va. Arrangements by Lyles Funeral Service, Eric S. Lyles, Director, 1-800-388-1913.

AYERS
Mamie Lee Ayers, 100, widow of Jesse Ayers, died January 27, 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Irene A. McGuire of West Jefferson, N.C., Audrey A. Carter of Chase City and Geneva A. Shepherd of Wilsons, Va.; one sister, Ethel Mitchell of Roanoke; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren 11 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Roy M. Ayers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Newcomb Allgood Davis Funeral Home, Charles City. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wylliesburg Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wylliesburg Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

BEVELL
Virginia Goode Bevell, 94, of Richmond, passed away January 28, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Jane M. Bane and her husband, Jeff; two grandchildren, Lisa Atkinson and her husband, Don and J.C. Bane Jr. and his wife, Cheryl; three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Mark Atkinson and Jeff Bane III. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Road. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

BOHL
Hunter Dale Bohl, infant son of Chris and Tricia Bohl, died Saturday, January 26, 2002. He is also survived by his brother, Conner N. Bohl; grandparents, Paul H. Connors and Pat O'Hare, Jacqueline S. Connors and Robert Williams, Elizabeth and Wayne Altrichter, Jesse Pieter Bohl and Mei Leng Lau; great-grandparents, Patricia P. Nilsson, Frederick R. and Jean D. Bohl; aunts and uncles, Kristi H. Garstang, Kevin P. Bohl, Stacey E. and Scott W. Altrichter. The family will receive friends 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Road. CHITTUM
Mr. Lewis Estes Chittum, age 91, of Gastonia, N.C., passed away Saturday, January 26, 2002 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Mr. Chittum was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret McClain Chittum and by parents, James Lewis Estes Chittum and Clissie Nicely Chittum. Mr. Chittum was formerly of Richmond, Va., where he was born March 12, 1910 and was formerly of Mt. Holly, N.C. He received a B.S. degree from the University of Richmond in 1932, a Master's degree in Economics in 1933 and later received an honorary degree from Belmont Abbey College, Belmont, N.C. During World War II, he served in the Navy as a cost inspector, attaining the rank of Lt. Commander. He moved to Mt. Holly, N.C. in 1949 to be the treasurer of American Yarn and Processing Co., later American and Efird Mills. In 1961 he and an associate formed Colonial Acceptance Corp., where served as president. He was a C.P.A. and a member of the Rotary Club. He was member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Mt. Holly for over 30 years, chairman of the Finance Committee for 15 years. He was on the Board of Trustees of Gaston Memorial Hospital, where he served as chairman for six years. He was a 32nd degree Mason for 50 years, a Shriner and a member of the Catawba Yacht Club. In 1986 he and his wife moved to Covenant Village in Gastonia, N.C. They were also members of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Gastonia. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy C. Delmar of Richmond, Va.; nephew, William Delmar and his wife, Peggy of Atlanta, Ga. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 30 at Covenant Village, Gastonia, N.C., where family will greet friends before service. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at McMahan's Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Rutherford City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 248 West Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, N.C. 28052.

COLEMAN
Moses M. Coleman Sr. of Richmond departed this life Monday, January 28, 2002. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral notice later.

COOKE
Caroline Myers Cooke was born September 18, 1909 and died in her home on January 26, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Caswell Cooke. A native of Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Gaston Lord Myers and Annie Pender Gordon Myers. She attended Miss Jenny's School and graduated from St. Catherine's School. Mrs. Cooke also attended The Normal School and finished at the Pan American School. She was a member of Grace & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, The Woman's Club, the DAR, the Junior League, the Virginia Historical Society and the Virginia Museum Council. With her husband, Mrs. Cooke ran "Camp Cricket Hill" for a child's first experience away from home. She is survived by her children, Caroline Cooke Holland of Cookeville, Tenn., Caswell Cooke of Lawrenceville, N.J., Anne Gordon Curran of Richmond and Sarah Cooke Taggart of Salisbury, Conn.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Burial will be at Fork Church on Old Ridge Rd. in Hanover Co. on Wednesday, January 30 at 10:30 a.m. A memorial service will be held at Grace & Holy Trinity Church, Richmond at 3:30 p.m. that afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace & Holy Trinity Church, Fork Church, Doswell or St. Catherine's School.

DANIEL
Alice Grey Daniel, 90, of The Hermitage, went to be with the Lord January 28, 2002. She is survived by two nieces, Anne Daniel of Willow Springs, N.C. and Gayle Hudson of Tarboro, N.C.; two nephews, Kenneth S. Broaddus and H. Daniel Broaddus, both of Richmond; one sister-in-law, Winona Daniel of Tarboro, N.C.; six great-nieces and great-nephews and one great-great-nephew. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2002 in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 2709 Monument Ave., Richmond, Va. 23220 or Oxford Baptist Church, P.O. Box 398, Oxford, N.C. 27573.

DAVIS
Genevieve Marlin Davis, 82, of Goochland, Va., died on January 24, 2002. She is survived by her husband, William H. Davis; three children, Jennifer E. Kochie, William M. Davis and Michael M. Davis; and five grandchildren. Her four sisters, Grace M. Browning, Dorothy M. Barger, Ruby M. Millington and Alda M. Noftsinger also survive her. She graduated from the Pan American Business School, in Richmond, Va. and worked for Dupont as an executive secretary at the Spruance Plant. She retired from the Dupont Public Affairs Department in Wilmington, Del. She was an avid gardener and lover of birds and animals. The memorial services will be held at Smyrna Baptist Church on Saturday, February 2 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Smyrna Baptist Church, Goochland Va. or the American Cancer Society.

ELLIS
May C. Ellis, 102, died January 27, 2002. Her remains rest at St. Joseph's Home, 1503 Michael Road, where a Prayer Service will be held 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

FLAMMIA
Mrs. Betty Lou Flammia, age 55, of Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away Monday, January 28, 2002 at her residence. She was born in Suffolk, Va., raised in Richmond, Va., and had lived in Bay County since 1988. Mrs. Flammia was an Administrator with Applied Research Associates, working at Tyndall Air Force Base. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and loved her family very much. Mrs. Flammia is survived by her husband, Lawrence Flammia of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two sons, Michael Flammia and his wife, Patrice of Warrington, Va. and Mark Flammia and his wife, Amanda of Panama City; a brother, Richard White of Alexandria, Va.; and four grandchildren, Bryan, Kaitlyn, Gabrielle, and Madisyn. Memorial services will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2002 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Marty Bratek officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals, Hospitality House, Richmond, Va. FRENCH
Frank Hannon French Jr. of Richmond passed away Monday, January 28, 2002. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Alan Todd French and is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Moncure French; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon F. and Rev. Hugh T. Harris; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry W. and Lisa A. French; five grandchildren, W. Brent Logan and his wife, Emily, Mark R. Logan, Anna M. French, Jordan E. French, Elliot F. French; a great-grandson, Andrew Hannon Logan; and his sister, Alexis; a brother, Llewellyn V. French and his wife, Frances; and a dear friend and nurse, Doris Slade. Mr. French was a Navy veteran of WWII, a 1942 graduate of John Marshall High School, a member of the Churchill Gang, and a 50 year member of Henrico Union Masonic Lodge #130 AF & AM. He was also a retired construction engineer with the City of Richmond Public Schools. His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday.
