Ralston K. Dennis
Ralston K. Dennis, 75, died on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at his residence. He was born March 30, 1927 in Leisenring, Pennsylvania to the late Jacob Sidwell Dennis and Nina Bryson Dennis.
He was a retired Lt. Col., U.S. Army Engineers and retired Fairfax County teacher. While in the Army he served in Germany, Iran, Korea and Vietnam. While in Korea in the 2nd Infantry Division he received a battlefield commission. He was awarded a Silver Star and three Bronze Stars for valor. Other awards included the Combat Infantry Badge and two Joint Services Commendations. After a total of twenty-four years he retired. He was a mem-ber of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Pearl Kelly Dennis and sons, Kelly and his wife Claireen, Craig and his wife, Sharon, and daughter, Diane Hurd and her husband, James.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Marie Hazy and Pearl Hallam and one brother, James Dennis.
His joy was woodworking and his eleven grandchilden.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Michael Gray officiating.
Private burial will be held at Arlington National cemetery.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in
charge of the arrangements.

Iola H. Beckwith
A graveside service for Iola H. Beckwith will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Culpeper Na-tional cemetery. W.C. Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ernest Lee Childs, Jr.
A memorial service for Ernest Lee Childs, Jr. of Casanova, Va., will be held today at 11 a.m. at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton, by Rev. J. Richard Winter. Interment will be in the family plot in the Warrenton cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Catlett Vol. Fire Co., P.O. Box 174, Catlett, VA 20119, the New Baltimore Vol. Fire Co., P.O. Mabel W. McClanahan
Mabel W. McClanahan, 93, of Warrenton, died Aug. 10, 2002 at the Culpeper Health Care Center. The family will receive friends Saturday, Aug. 17, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. at Thornton Gap Primitive Baptist Church in Sperryville by Elder Richard Cox. Interment will be in War-renton cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Thornton Gap Primitive Bap-tist Church, c/o Wayne Baldwin, P.O. Box 572, Culpeper, VA 22701 or to Hospice Support of Fauquier, 42 N. Fifth St., Warrenton, VA 20186.

Emma Maggie Mason White
Emma M. White, of Bealeton, Va., died on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002. She was the widow of William L. White, a homemaker, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an active participant of Calverton Baptist Church and in her community.
She was involved in many activities of her church. She was a major contributor in the writing of the History of Calverton Baptist Church in celebration of its 100th year. She was a long-time participant in various capacities of the Vacation Bible School and the AWANA programs of her church, where she was lovingly known as “the snack woman” by the youth. She was also involved in many types of mission programs, such as the Shoe Box Mission. She was very active in her community throughout the years by generously donating her time by serving at the polls on voting day, as well as helping to provide food for the annual fireman’s carnival. When donating financially to local charities, she liked her anonymity and had several that she faithfully supported during her lifetime.
She is survived by her children, Floyd William White of Bealeton, Roger L. White of Culpeper, Elizabeth W. Carey of Orlando, Florida; eleven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and brothers, Edward Mason of Bealeton, William Mason of King George County and Archie Mason of Dunlap, Tennessee. She is also survived by her husband’s brother and sisters, George White of Bealeton, June Wingrove of Fredericksburg and Dorothy Beagle of Stafford.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at Calverton Baptist Church. Interment will immediately follow at Cedar Grove cemetery in Bealeton.
Friends and family are invited to participate in fellowship and food at the Calverton Baptist Church immediately following interment.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calverton Baptist Church, Calverton, Va.

Joseph Sprannon (Toots) Carpenter
A funeral service for Joseph Sprannon (Toots) Carpenter, of Madison, will be held today at 11 a.m. at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison. Rev. Jennifer Kelly will officiate. Interment will be in Rapidan-Rose Park cemetery, Wolftown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Place, Suite 200, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

Rear Admiral Alexander Jackson, Jr. USN (ret)
Rear Admiral Alexander Jackson, Jr. USN (ret), 98, of Orange, died on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at the Orange County Nursing Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Orange, Va. with interment at Emanuel Episcopal Church cemetery in Rapidan. Family visitation will be held this evening at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Orange from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Orange County Nursing Home, 120 Dogwood Lane, Orange, VA 22960.

Susan Anna Jenkins
Susan Anna Jenkins, 84, of Lignum, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002. She was born Oct. 29, 1918 in Rappahannock County, Va., to the late Will Jackson Settle and the late Georganna Fincham Settle.
Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker and a member of Lael Baptist Church, attended Oakland Baptist Church, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John W. Jenkins of Lignum, Va.; two sons, Douglas W. Jenkins and his wife Phyllis of Rixeyville, Va. and Ronnie A. Jenkins and his wife Joyce of Culpeper; grandchildren, Robert L. Jenkins Jr., Wayne Jenkins, Phyllis Estes, Melissa Gallimore, Douglas W. Jenkins Jr., Michelle Rakes, Ronnie Allen Jenkins Jr. and Justin Daniel Jenkins; and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Audrey Jenkins and an infant daughter, Patricia A. Jenkins.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home with interment to follow in Fairview cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 1715, Culpeper, VA 22701.

Sallie B. Marks
Sallie B. Marks, 94, of Madison, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002 at Autumn Care of Madison. Born Oct. 29, 1908 in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Haywood Berry and Elizabeth Garr Berry and wife of the late John J. Marks.
She is survived by two daughters, Martha M. Coleman of Culpeper and Anna E. Marks of Washington, D.C.; five sons, J. Robert Marks of Herndon, Kenneth H. Marks of Rochelle, Johnny W. Marks of Madison, E. Yager Marks of Harrisonburg, Thomas T. Marks of Arlington; a brother, Haywood Berry of Winchester; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Virginia Marks Bell and Z. Lucille Marks and a son, Kermit Marks.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison with Pastor Jeff Shifflett officiating.
Interment will be in Madison Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Adeline “Addie” Boxley
Adeline Boggs “Addie” Boxley, 77, of Culpeper, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Prince William Hospital. A funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. Mark Jarvis officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview cemetery. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.

Carlton Estes
Carlton Estes of Gulfport, Fla., passed away on December 1, 2002, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home with interment to follow in Fairview cemetery. Rev. John S. Farrar will officiate and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home. Clore-English Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ester Lois Hale
Ester Lois Hale, 64, of Catlett, Va., died on December 2, 2002, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. A funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Catlett Assembly of God, Catlett, Va. with Pastor Mike Garland officiating. Interment will be in Catlett cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Run Vol. Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 152, Catlett, VA 20119.

Betty L. Rodrigues
Betty L. Rodrigues, 71, of Sumerduck, Va., died on Dec. 6, 2002, at Fauquier Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 3 p.m. at Arlington National cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday one hour prior to service. Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton is in charge of the arrangements.

William H. Shupe
William H. Shupe, 52, of Bealeton, died Nov. 29, 2002, at his home. Memorial services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton.

Rebecca Jane Cave
Rebecca Jane Cave, 86, of Reva, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at her residence. Mrs. Cave was born on April 14, 1916 in Madison County to the late Seldon and Bessie Woodward Dodson.
She is survived by one son, Oscar E. Cave, and his wife, Barbara, of Reva; one daughter, Naomi C. Harrison, and her husband, George, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Sharmon McDaniel and her husband, Ricky, Ned Ellerbe, and his wife, Patricia, all of Madison, Linda Miller, and her husband, John, of Fort Mills, South Carolina; seven great-grandchildren, Ricky Trent McDaniel, Daniel Ellerbe both of Madison, Jason Dodson of Brightwood, Jessica Miller, Jennifer Miller, Jamie Miller, Sean Miller all of Fort Mills, South Carolina and four great, great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cave is also survived by a number of half-brothers and sisters and a special friend, Sherley Rosson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Oscar Daniel Cave, her parents, one brother, Herman Dodson, and a number of half-brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike.
A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Lottie Aylor
Lottie Aylor of Sperryville, Va., died on Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at the Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, Va. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. W.C. Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Edgar L. Butler
Edgar L. Butler, 60, of Warrenton, Va., died February 6, 2003, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton, where a memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. The Rev. J. Richard Winter will officiate. Interment will be private in the Fairview cemetery in Culpeper. Douglas E. Grady
Douglas E. Grady, 74, of Culpeper, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Culpeper Regional Hospital. A service will be held graveside, weather permitting, today at 2 p.m. at Fairview cemetery with Pastor Dallas Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. Call the funeral home in case of inclement weather. Honors will be provided by the Culpeper American Legion Post #330 and the Culpeper V.F.W. Post #2524. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1747, Culpeper, VA 22701 and/or the Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 1715, Culpeper, VA 22701. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.

Janice Lamb Haney
A funeral service for Janice Lamb Haney of Barboursville, will be held today at 11 a.m. at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, with the Rev. Katha Bollfrass officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood cemetery in Gordonsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Barboursville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 209, Barboursville, VA 22923.

James Lloyd Hargrave
James Lloyd Hargrave of Rapidan, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at the Culpeper Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Walker’s United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Forest Porter will officiate. Preddy Funeral Home in Orange is in charge of the arrangements.
