Mabel Pauline Thompson
Mabel Pauline Thompson, 69, of Rixeyville, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at her residence. She was born November 7, 1934 in Drill, Va. to the late John Osborne and Cansada Duty Osborne.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of Jeffersonton Baptist Church.
Survivors include seven children, Freddy Thompson and his wife, Eva of Flint Hill, Sadie Mullins and her husband, Richard of Culpeper, Eugene Thompson and his wife, Brenda of Front Royal, Nadine Jackson of Front Royal, Paula Thompson of Warrenton, Robert Thompson and his wife, Tammy of Front Royal, and Crystal Sparks of Rixeyville.
Additional survivors include ten grandchildren, Amy Toole and her husband, Keith, Michael Eugene Thompson, Irvin Eugene Thompson, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer, Dusty Allen Thompson, Sheena Marie Thompson, Melissa Weaver, Tracy Weaver, Emily Denise Holloran, Michael Albert Holloran, Jr., and Jamie Thompson, and three great-grandchildren, Andrew Lee Thompson, Bradley Andrew and Carlise Nicole.
She is also survived by five sisters, Dorothy, Faye, Shirley, Judy and Truler, and one brother, Elmer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Lee Thompson, Jr. and one sister, Lucille Deal.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. at Jeffersonton Baptist Church with Pastor Marshall W. Braylo and Pastor Ralph Wilson officiating.
Pallbearers will be two sons, Eugene Sr. and Robert Thompson, three grandsons, Eugene Jr., Michael and Dusty Thompson; and a son-in-law, Richard Mullins.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jeffersonton Baptist Church Building Fund, 18498 Springs Road, Jeffersonton, VA 22724.

Margaret Louise Williamson Morris
Margaret Louise Williamson Morris, 88, died peacefully after a long illness, on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. The family will receive friends and family on Friday, Nov. 14, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Culpeper with The Rev. Michael Gray officiating. Beatrice Goodrich Spottswood
Beatrice Goodrich Spottswood, 92, of Shelby (Madison County), died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at her residence. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 12 noon at Elk Run Baptist Church, Shelby, Va. Interment will be in the Spottswood Family cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday two hours prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the church. Preddy Funeral Home in Madison is in charge of the arrangements.

Roy DeWitte Aylor
Roy DeWitte Aylor, 62, of Madison, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at his residence.
Born April 20, 1941 in Madison County, he was the son of the late John Henry Aylor.
He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church of Aylor and an Army Veteran of Vietnam.
He is survived by his mother, Ellen Taylor Aylor of Madison; his wife, Lois Sue Aylor of Madison; one daughter, Cora Sue Johnson of Culpeper; two sons, Donald Eugene Doyle and wife Silvia of Germany and Michael Ray Doyle of Fredericksburg; four grandchildren, Rose Lee Fincham, Joshua Allen Fincham, Amanda Rae Doyle, Daniel Ryan Doyle, and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Aylor, Va. with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Henry Daniel Aylor and the Rev. Paul Ritter will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison.

John Sandy Banks, Jr.
John Sandy Banks, Jr., 59, departed this life on November 7, 2003, at his father’s home in Lignum.
John Sandy is survived by his father, John Sandy, Sr.; a brother, James; and four sisters, Olivia, Rosie, Gracie, and Cora; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 1 p.m. at W.C. Thompson Funeral Home.

John Davis Hawkins
John Davis Hawkins, 82, of Reva, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at his home. He was born July 20, 1921, in Page County.
He was a Deacon and member of the Robinson River Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Clore; a daughter, Carolyn Hawkins Mills and husband, John Robert of Brightwood; two sons, Reginald Philip Hawkins and wife, Linda W. of Reva, and John Davis Hawkins Jr. and wife, Linda C. of Brightwood; two brothers, Edward L. Short of Luray and Rufus P. Short of Stuarts Draft; five grandchildren, Thomas E. McDaniel and wife Kim, Jeremiah Hawkins, Jennifer Hawkins, Heather Hawkins, Andrew Hawkins and step-grandchildren, Douglas A. Mills and wife, Brenda and Angela Dowell and husband, Gary.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. at Robinson River Primitive Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Elder Toliver Utz and Elder Frank Coppedge will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. this evening at his home.

George William Jenkins
George William Jenkins, 78, of Etlan, Va., died November 10, 2003, at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on September 13, 1925 in Madison County, Va.
He was a retired farmer, and a member of Nethers Mill Lighthouse Tabernacle.
His parents were the late George Clifton Jenkins and the late Mary Catherine Coates Jenkins.
Survivors include three sisters, Lillie Mae Jenkins of Etlan, Va., Alice Virginia Buckingham and Lucy Mildred Howell, both of Manassas, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas L., James E., and Lester R. Jenkins.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. at Etlan cemetery with the Rev. Dan Yowell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 4634, Charlottesville, VA 22905.

Connie Ray Testerman
Connie Ray Testerman, 58, of Wolftown, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
He was born September 28, 1945 in Princeton, West Virginia.
He was the son of Alma Poole of Bluefield, West Virginia and the late Robert Thompson Testerman.
Mr. Testerman was retired from Northern Virginia Bell Atlantic and was owner and operator of Able Consultants in Madison County.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Anne Testerman of Wolftown; a daughter, Elizabeth Marie Gibson and husband Charles of Locust Grove; a son, Matthew Allen Testerman and wife Cindy of Culpeper; two brothers, Robert Keith Testerman and wife Patricia of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, John Mark Testerman of Mt. Airy, Maryland; two sisters, Betty Delores Dofflemyer and husband Robert of Waldorf, Maryland, Wanda Lee Slack and husband Stan of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Crystal, C.J., Kenneth, and Jacob Gibson, Austyn, Jonathan, and Alexander Testerman.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Joyce Testerman.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison conducted by Dr. Tommy Palmer. The interment will be at Culpeper National cemetery with military honors conducted by Culpeper American Legion and Culpeper VFW.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the funeral home.

Jessie Golden Jarrell, 69, of Culpeper, died Nov. 8, 2003, at her home. Beatrice Yowell Acree Grimsley
Beatrice Yowell Acree Grimsley, 86, of Culpeper, Va., died on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, Va.
She was born on March 29, 1917 in Watts, Va. Culpeper County.
She was retired from Knakal’s Bakery after 26 years as a clerk.
She was an avid Redskins fan, a member of the Culpeper Baptist Church, loved animals, the outdoors, and gardening and she also led an active life.
Her parents were the late Lamon C. Yowell and Ida Rider Yowell.
Her husband was the late Otho Bryant "Tom" Grimsley, Jr.
Survivors include one son, Robert Acree of Reva, Va.; grandchildren, Robert Acree, Jr. of Reva, Va., Deborah Peters of Reva, Va., Timothy Acree of Fredericksburg, Va., and Dennis Acree of West Palm Beach, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Robert Acree, III, Kelly Peters, Kendall Peters, Trevor Acree, and Jade Acree; sisters, Bernice Simmons and Gertrude Hudson of Culpeper; also a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Marjorie Jenkins, brothers, Billy "Pete" Yowell and Lamon Yowell, Jr.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. at Culpeper National cemetery with Rev. John S. Farrar officiating.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home.

George Wilkison Middleton
George Wilkison Middleton, 76, a resident of Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at Culpeper Regional Hospital. Born at The Plains January 22, 1927, he was preceded in death by his parents, Matilda W. and Clarence A. Middleton and sister, Jacksie Jane Grimmett. He is survived by brothers, E. Douglas Middleton of Davidsonville, Md. and C. Arthur Middleton, Jr. of Lynchburg, Va. and a host of nieces and nephews.
Prior to moving to Culpeper eight years ago, he was a resident of Fauquier County. He represented Electrolux sales for many years.
George had many friends in Fauquier, especially in Marshall, The Plains and Warrenton area where he had resided. His pleasant personality and familiar whistle will be missed.
He was an active member of the Warrenton Assembly of God Church and earlier the Marshall Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. l2, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home. Burial will be in Warrenton cemetery.

Margaret Louise Williamson Morris
Margaret Louise Williamson Morris, 88, died peacefully after a long illness, on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Margaret was born August 7, 1915 in Scituate, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Kirk Williamson and Blanche Lillian Strout of Baltimore, Md.
Margaret was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who valued time with family and friends. She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Morris Miller and her husband, Lawrence of Culpeper, Va.; and two granddaughters, Kimberly Miller King and her husband, Peter of Newfane, Vt. and Lisa Miller Baldini and her husband, James of Dublin, Ireland.
Additional survivors include one sister, Doris Nagel of Baltimore, Md.; and one brother, Raymond Williamson of Germany.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roswell Augustus Morris of Virginia Beach, two brothers, Robert and Russell Williamson and two sisters, Camille Roadcap and Lillian Morris.
The family will receive friends and family on Friday, Nov. 14, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Culpeper with The Rev. Michael Gray officiating.

Paul Vernon Butler
Paul Vernon Butler, 56, of Madison, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at his residence.
Born April 4, 1947 in Culpeper, Va., he was the son of the late Allie Clinton Butler.
Mr. Butler was an electrician for Pam American Electrical Co.
He is survived by his mother, Elsie McDaniel Butler of Rapidan; his wife, Patty Butler of Madison; one daughter, Pam; three sons, Paul, Jason and Shane; four sisters, Brenda, Vivian, Jessie and April; ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Orange conducted by Pastor David Knighton.
Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

Albert Edward "Bill" Close
Albert Edward "Bill" Close, 81, of Culpeper, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. He was born on February 21, 1922 in Berkley Springs, West Virginia to the late H. William and Maggie Belle Karns Close.
Mr. Close was a member of St. Lukes Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge of Maryland and a past member of the VFW Post 2524. He also served as the Commander for the American Legion Post 330 for eight years. He was in the United States Army as a Senior Lineman Signal Corp. serving in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. In addition to his many hobbies, he enjoyed cooking, spending time with his grandchildren, and meeting his friends for breakfast.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Alma Close of Culpeper; two sons, Philip Parker and Buddy Parker, both of Culpeper; and two daughters-in-laws, Kim Parker of Culpeper and Toni Parker of Newport News.
Mr. Close is also survived by one brother, James C. Close of Romney, WV.; four sisters, Louise Smith, Marie Alderton, Gladys Whittington, and Thelma Payne all of Berkley Springs, WV.; and two grandchildren, Carlisle Rose Parker of Newport News, and Trevor Brent Parker of Culpeper.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one btother, John Close and two sisters, Vitalis Eppinger and Mary Elizabeth Close.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Va.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Pastor Debbie Frye and Rev. Sandy Martin officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeepr National cemetery.

On Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003 Our Lord Jesus Christ called Mary home. As a good and faithful servant, Mary answered the call at age 78. David Eugene Williams, Jr., 55, of Midland, Va., died on October 7, 2003, at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Va.
