Mr. Carl Timothy Popovich, Jr., 70 of Lake Anna, died Sunday February 2, 2003 at his son's home in Tampa Florida. Carl worked for the telephone company for 34 years until he retired as a supervisor and was a member of Tanyard Country Club in Louisa. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maryann E. Popovich; a daughter, Mary E. Janes of Woodbridge; three sons, James L. Popovich of Lake Anna, Dan D. Popovich of Manassas, Steve C. Popovich of Tampa, FL; a sister, Linda Noyes of Vienna; six grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. The family will receive friends at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, Fredericksburg on Thursday February 6, 2003 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 9pm with a prayer service starting at 7:00pm with Pastor Rodney Rodis officiating. A graveside service will be held at National Memorial Park, Falls Church, VA on Friday February 7, 2003 at 1:00pm.

Robert Jones

Robert Eugene Jones, 67, of Culpeper died Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, in Charlottesville. He was born May 29, 1935 in Manchester, Iowa to the late W. David Jones and Blanche Traver Jones. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the United States Army. He was an Engineer for IBM and retired after 30 years. Mr. Jones was an Elder at Culpeper Presbyterian Church. He was also President of Helping Hand. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Dorothy Jean Jones, three children, Deborah Amador and her husband, Jaime both of Waynesboro, Barbara Smith and her husband, Charles both of Culpeper and Julie Jones and her husband, Ronald both of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and three step children, Gary Schwartz and his wife, Holly both of Locust Grove, Deanne Cockerill and her husband, Gary both of Rixeyville and Beth Martin of Culpeper. Additional survivors include two brothers, William Dean Jones and Leland David Jones, one sister, Alberta Potter, four grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and his two beloved English Bulldogs, Moo and Bebe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Alvin Kenneth Jones The family will receive friends Friday, January 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 25, at 11 a.m. at Culpeper Presbyterian Church with Dr. R. Wayne Bernardo officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Culpeper Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 215 S. Main Street, Culpeper, VA 22701. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.

Floyd Weakley

Floyd Ashby Weakley, 79, formerly of Remington died Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at Boulder Community Hospital, in Boulder, Colorado. He was born May 1, 1923 in Madison County to the late Joseph Terrell Weakley and Eva Reeves Thornhill Weakley. Mr. Weakley was a veteran of the United States Army Airforce and obtained the rank as Staff Sergeant until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He later retired after twenty-eight years from the Virginia ABC Board. Mr. Weakley was a past Post Commander of Culpeper American Legion Post #330, and a former member of the Culpeper Jaycees. Mr. Weakley is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Edna Merle Weaver Weakley of Bealeton, his daughter, Brenda Weakley Tobias and her husband, Phillip and their daughter, Ashley all of Lafayette, CO. Additional survivors include two stepsons, Ashby Olinger of Remington and John Olinger of The Plains, a stepgrandson, John B. Olinger, Jr. of The Plains, a sister, Hazel Lamb and her husband, Fred both of Culpeper and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John E. Weakley, Kenneth T. Weakley and L. Maxwell Weakley and one sister, Edna Weakley Bauserman. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 1, at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. John S. Farrar officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. Interment will follow in Culpeper Masonic cemetery with honors provided by the Culpeper American Legion Post #330 and the Culpeper V.F.W. Post #2524. Pallbearers will be Ashby and John Olinger, Phillip Tobias, Jim, Bobby, and Joe Weakley, and Wayne Yowell. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 10415 Mountain Run Lake Road, Culpeper, VA 22701. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.

Lamon C. Yowell, Jr., 81, of Culpeper died Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born November 24, 1921 in Culpeper to the late Lamon Cecil Yowell and Ida Leigh Ryder Yowell. Mr. Yowell is survived by three sisters, Bernice Simmons, Beatrice Grimsley and Gertrude Hudson all of Culpeper and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marjie Jenkins and a brother, Billy Yowell. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 31, at 2 p.m. at Fairview cemetery with the Rev. John S. Farrar officiating. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.

Michael Sielicki, Jr.

Michael A. Sielicki, Jr. 59, of Stafford County died on Friday, March 28, 2003 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Virginia A. Sielicki; a son, Michael D. Sielicki of Stafford; a daughter, Jennifer J. Sielicki of Fredericksburg; his mother, Anna Sielicki; a sister, Pam Buntyn of Spotsylvania; seven grandchildren and many camping friends. He was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion, the BASS Federation, Friends of the Rappahannock and was a Master Angler in the Citation Program. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home.

George Plumline, Jr.

George Washington Plumline, Jr., 84, of Rixeyville, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 18, 2002 at the Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center, Culpeper, Virginia. He was born on December 8, 1917 to the late George Washington Plumline Sr. and the late Helen Cloud Plumline in Newport, Delaware. He was retired from All American Engineering in Delaware before moving to Virginia in 1978. He also worked for the Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was a longtime member of the Culpeper Church of God, now known as the Miracle Tabernacle in Culpeper. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Bailey Hitt Plumline and his brother, James Plumline. He is survived by his son Allen E. Hitt and his wife Darlene of New Castle, Delaware, Step-son Carroll Martin and wife Mildred of King, North Carolina, Step-daughter Sarah Heitz and husband John of Wilmington, Delaware, Eight grandchildren, Christopher Allen Hitt, Kimberly Marie Hitt, Wendy Leigh Hitt, Rhonda Fitzwater, Lisa Heitz, and John Heitz, all of Delaware. Gary Martin and Glenn Martin of North Carolina, he had 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Plumline is also survived by two sisters, Florence Plumline and Barbara Bogart and husband Bill of Salt Lake City, Utah. Two nieces, Eileen Plumline Hahn, and Kathy Plumline, both of Delaware. Two brothers-in-law, James Bailey and wife Lucy, and George Bailey. Mr. Plumline, also leaves behind his devoted companion of nine years, his dog, a very pampered pooch,"BUZZY". George will be sadly missed for his love of gardening, and giving away most of what he reaped. He also leaves behind a host of friends from the Senior Center in Culpeper, friends at Church, wonderful neighbors, and many more that had the honor to know him. The family will receive friends Monday, October 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 22, at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. K.C. Yonts and Rev. Vernie Courtney Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.

Jerry Hawkins

Jerry B. Hawkins, 27, of Culpeper died Monday, February 17, 2003, at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born July 8, 1975 in Charlottesville to Ray Elmo Hawkins and Myrtle Louise Stanley Hawkins both of Culpeper. In addition to his parents, he is survived by four brothers, Jack E. Hawkins and his wife, Bonnie both of Rixeyville, James W. Hawkins and Bernard Lee Hawkins and his wife, Frances all of Culpeper and John F. Hawkins and his wife, Linda both of Brandy Station and two sisters, Betty Lou Mills and her husband, Bubba both of Castleton and Brenda Sue Woodward and her husband, Randolph both of Rixeyville. Additional survivors include a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 20, at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Pastor William Blackburn and Rev. John K. Burke officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donnie Hawkins, Joe Hawkins, Steve Mills, Benji Woodward, Sonney Frazier, III, Calvin Frazier, Kenny Corbin, and Carl Lane. Elsie Thompson

Elsie Burnett Thompson, 96, passed away November 15, 2002, at Warrenton Overlook Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warrenton, VA. She was born June 8, 1906 in Franklin County to the late Rawleigh and Ella Burnett. She was the oldest of ten children and the widow of William Monroe Thompson, Jr. Mrs. Thompson was the first woman school bus driver in Culpeper County and drove for many years. She also worked in the Culpeper High School cafeteria. She is survived by three daughters, Betty Myers and husband, Donald of Culpeper, Shirley Thompson of Chicago, IL and Mary Lee Smith and husband, Randy of Sun City West, AZ. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Karen Myers Calvert and husband, David of Culpeper, Fred Myers and wife, Mary of Reva and Michele Kimbrell and husband, David of Sellersburg, IN. Additional survivors include six great grandchildren, Bethany and Zachary Calvert of Culpeper, Andrea and Nathan Myers of Reva, and Anna Marie and Erin Elizabeth Kimbrell of Sellersburg, IN. Mrs. Thompson's only son, William Monroe Thompson, III, passed away on October 6, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Deane Thompson. She is also survived by her brother, John W. Burnett and wife, Alice of Macclesfield, NC and her sisters, Thelma Bass and husband, J.P. of Williamsburg, VA and Vernelle White of Richmond, VA and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 20, at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with the Rev. William Snead and Don Pettit officiating. Interment will follow in Culpeper Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Calvert, Fred Myers, Zachary Calvert, Keith Burnett and J.P. Bass. Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. James Cannon

James Michael Cannon, 51, of Castleton, died January 19, 2003 at his residence. Mr. Cannon fondly known to many as "Jimmy", was born February 24, 1951 in Charlottesville, to Mr. Ray Thomas Cannon and the late Ruby Stringfellow Cannon. Jimmy proudly graduated from Randolph Macon Military Academy, and in 1973, Graduated from Virginia Tech. Most recently Jimmy worked as the Field Sales Coordinator for the Culpeper Farmers Co-op., was a member of the Sperryville United Methodist Church, stood on the Rappahannock Farm Bureau Insurance Board of Directors, and was the Vice President of the Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Department. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Martha Fulbright Cannon, and their two children, Ashleigh Grady Cannon, and James Michael Cannon II. He is also survived by his two sisters, Ann Cannon Powell, of Warrenton, and Donna Cannon Wilkers, and her husband Chuck, of New Baltimore. A sister and brother-in-law, David and Vicky Mergenthal, of Fredericksburg. Two devoted uncles, Dallas Stringfellow, and his wife Fran, both of Warrenton, and Alphaeus F. Cannon, and his wife Kitty, both of Castleton. Jimmy is also survived by his seven nieces and nephews; Ross, Lee and Drew Wilkers, David, Bethany and Meredith Powell, Alden Mergenthal, and a long time friend Peter Powell. The family will receive friends on January 21, 2003 from 7-9p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A Funeral Service will be held on January 22, 2003 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel at 3p.m. with the Pastor Merlin W. Shorb and Rev. Phillip Bailey Officiating. Pallbearers named are Jimmie DeBergh, Doug Bumgardner, Tom Massie Sr., George McIntyre, Dean Hahn, and John Henry Woodward. Internment will follow at the Cannon Family cemetery in Castleton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rappahannock Chapter of the American Cancer Society, c/o Ester Settle, Flint Hill, Virginia, and/or to the Castleton Community Fire Department, Castleton, Virginia 22716. Pearl Kelly Dennis, 73, of Culpeper died Tuesday, December 10, 2002, at Culpeper Regional Hospital. She was born October 29, 1929 in Republic, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her two sons, Kelly Dennis and his wife, Claireen, and Craig Dennis and his wife, Sharon, one daughter, Diane Hurd and her husband, James, and her sister, Elizabeth Sahady. In addition to her parents, George and Pauline Kelly, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralston K. Dennis. Mrs. Dennis was a retired Fairfax County elementary school teacher. Her passion was her husband of over 50 years and her 11 grandchildren. She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. She was a mother and a grandmother to all and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends Friday, December 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Michael Gray officiating. Mr. Claude Stidham, 74, of King George died on Monday, October 21, 2002 at Heritage Hall Health Center. He is survived by four brothers, Chester C. Stidham of Fredericksburg, James S. Stidham of Wheaton, MD, Arthur F. Stidham of Big Stone Gap and Vilas E. Stidham of Culpeper; a sister, Sylvania Reeves of Maryland and a stepdaughter, Hollis Joy "Kitty" Diamond of Woodford. He is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey L. Stidham. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg at 11:00 am with the Rev. John McKay officiating. The family will receive friend's one-hour prior. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
