Mrs. Rose D. Markham, 85 of Fredericksburg died Saturday December 28, 2002 at Mary Washington Hospital. Rose earned her B.A. in English and History at Ohio Wesleyan and her Masters in Education in Library Science from Case Western Reserve. She worked for the Ohio public school system as a librarian for over 20 years until she retired. She is survived by two daughters, Dorothea Neighbours of Fredericksburg, Carol Pullin of Munroe Falls, OH; a son, Daniel Thomas Colnon of Woodinville, WA and seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, Fredericksburg on Monday, December 30, 2002 at 2:00pm with the Rev. Don Neighbours officiating. Rose enjoyed the last four years of her life in Fredericksburg with the best of care at Wilburn Gardens.

Matthew Barnes, Jr.

Mr. Matthew Barnes, Jr., 55, of Stafford died, after a long illness, on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at Mary Washington Hospital. Mr. Barnes was a lifetime member of Beulah Baptist Church. He collected old music and enjoyed his friends and family. He is survived by a brother, Chapman Barnes of Fredericksburg; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy A. and Oscar L. Foxx of Spotsylvania; a devoted friend, Elsie Garnett and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur J. Barnes and Lois Ray Barnes. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg at 2:30 pm with the Rev. David Cunningham officiating.

Margaret Fancher

Margaret Mildred Fancher, 82, of Culpeper died December 13, 2002 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. She was born September 27, 1920 in Endicott, New York to the late Grover C. Flick and Elizabeth Ann Morgan. Mrs. Fancher was an avid quilter and enjoyed needlepoint, and was a member of the Novem Quilt Guild. She was a member of Culpeper United Methodist Church and the Culpeper Woman's Club, and was a past member of Central United Methodist Church in Endicott, New York. She is survived by three sons, Richard L. Fancher and his wife, Jacqueline, of Culpeper, Michael R. Fancher and his wife, Yvonne, of Clayton, NC, and Floyd J. Fancher III and his wife, Becky, of Camarrillo, CA. Mrs. Fancher is also survived by seven grandchildren, Margaret A. Kokoszka and her husband, Michael, of Warrenton, Deborah M. Payne and her husband, Darryl, of Woodbridge, Christopher Fancher and his wife, Sue, of Atlanta, GA, Matthew Fancher and his wife, Dayna, of Ft. Meyers Beach, FLA, Yvette Fisher of Clayton, NC, Jennifer Fancher of Ft. Meyers Beach, FLA, and Michelle Highsmith and her husband, Clay, of Bryon, GA. Additional survivors include eight great-grandchildren, Sierra and Ryan Kokoszka, Lauren and Brandon Payne, Katelyn and Sarah Fisher, Andrew Highsmith and Cameron Fancher; one sister, Beatrice Love; one brother, James Flick, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Floyd "Jake" Fancher, Jr., one sister, Marie McLain, one brother, Robert Flick, one brother-in-law, Edwin D. Fancher, and two sisters-in-law, Gladys Dewar and Margaret Hillburger. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 from 7 - 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper VA. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. John Crawford III officiating. Interment will follow in Culpeper Masonic cemetery. Donations may be made in her name to the Culpeper Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 731, Culpeper, VA 22701, or to the Culpeper United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1223 Oaklawn Drive, Culpeper, VA 22701. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas Jenkins

Thomas William Jenkins, 60, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at his residence in Orange. He was born April 25, 1942 in Washington, DC to the late George W. Jenkins and Mabel Reva Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins spent the majority of his working life as a plumber and for 45 years was well known throughout the area as "Tommy", the plumber. He is survived by his mother; his wife and good friend for over 16 years, Gayla M. Jenkins; one son, William Allen Jenkins, of Redwood Valley, California; and two daughters, Teresa Lynn Jenkins and her significant other, Johnny "Beau" Rogers, of Unionville, and Patricia Christian, of Beatty, Oregon. Additional survivors include four grand children, Katlyn, Jonathan, Misty and Heather, and Heather's husband, Eugene, and Mr. Jenkins' one great-grandchild, Little Gene. Mr. Jenkins is also survived by four brothers, Donnie L. Jenkins and his wife, Wanda, of Reva; Kenny Wayne Jenkins, and his wife, Annie "Boo", of Culpeper; Charles Nelson "Butch" Jenkins and his wife, Nancy, of Centreville; and James Edward "Buck" Jenkins and his wife, Nancy, of Hagerstown, MD; and two sisters, Brenda Jean Bowers and her husband, Junior, and Linda Ann White and her husband, Joe, all of Culpeper. Survivors also include numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, many close friends and other loved ones, and especially the beloved family dog, Baby. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 8, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview cemetery with the Rev. Everett McCormick officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Jenkins' name to Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 1715, Culpeper, VA 22701. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Gerald Edward Thompson, Sr., 70, of Fredericksburg died on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at his home. Mr. Thompson served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, was a member of the American Legion Post #55 and worked as an electrical engineer for the FMC Plant until he retired. He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth A. Hill of Fredericksburg; a son, Gerald E. Thompson, Jr. of Colonial Beach; a brother, Howard Thompson of Denton, NC; four grandchildren, Christy L. Sheets, James F. Hill, Jr. and Jason T. Hill, all of Fredericksburg and Justin Thompson of Colonial Beach and four great grandchildren, Brian T. Hill, Cody R. Sheets, Megan M. Hill and Kyle H. Sheets, all of Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg from 6:00-8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel at 10:00 am with the Rev. Randy Newsome officiating. Interment will follow in Quantico National cemetery.

Pamela Sue Martin, 40, of Spotsylvania County died on Sunday, March 2, 2003 at Mary Washington Hospital. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from Mary Washington College and had worked in accounts receivable for the Central Rappahannock Regional Library for eight years. She was a member of Knotts United Methodist Church in Grantsville, West Virginia. She is survived by a daughter, Melissa A. Merritt of the home; her parents, Judith and Richard Chalfant of Fredericksburg; two brothers, Michael Chalfant of Fredericksburg and Charles E. Chalfant of Charleston, SC; two nephews, Dale Chalfant and Matthew Chalfant, both of Fredericksburg; a niece, Isabella Chalfant of Charleston, SC, maternal grandmother, Lenore G. Booher of Grantsville, WV. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg from 6:00-8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Sonny Gheen officiating. Interment will be private.

Mrs. Nora Ellen Reed Agee, 83 of Fredericksburg died Sunday December 29, 2002 at Woodmont Health Care Center. Nora worked as an LPN at Mary Washington Hospital for several years and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Stafford. She is survived by a daughter, Mary E. LeFever of Spotsylvania; three sons, James E. Agee, Jr. of Richmond, Joe Allen Agee of Culpeper, C. Ronald Agee of Chattanooga, TN; two sisters, Ruby L. Poff of Dayton, TN, Clella J. Wheeler of Chattanooga, TN; two brothers, Clarance J. Reed of Virginia Beach, Norman L. Reed of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Temple Baptist Church, 82 White Oak Rd., Stafford on Thursday January 2, 2003 from 11:00 to 12:45pm with the funeral service starting at 1:00pm. Pastor Michael A. Reid will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers that family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Gideons International, PO Box 578, Spotsylvania, Virginia 22553-0578.

Antoinette Josephine Sciandra, 84, of Spotsylvania, VA died on Thursday, January 2, 2003 at Beverly Health Care Center. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Lodi, N.J. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Melanie of Spotsylvania, VA; a daughter, Carmella Grosiak of Anchorage, AK; two sisters, Rose Arena of Escondido, CA and Margaret Krause of Pittston, PA; six grandchildren, Rob, Diana, Amanda, Danny, Bobby and Frankie and two great grandchildren, Michael and Zachary. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 6, 2002 at Santangelo Funeral Home, Lodi, NJ from 7:00-9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at 9:00 am at Santangelo Funeral Home. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas cemetery, Lodi, NJ. Carolton "Carroll" Clybern

Carolton Burman "Carroll" Clybern, 79 of Culpeper died Saturday, April 12, 2003 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Clybern was born November 27, 1923 in Bradshaw, WV, son of the late William Leonard and Lundie Greene Clybern. Carroll is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Virginia W. Clybern of Culpeper; two daughters, Janice C. Whitlock and husband, Gregory of Richmond and Karen C. Rankin and husband Charles Jr. of Culpeper; six grandchildren, Christopher, Lisa, Ryan and Bethany Whitlock of Richmond and Amberly and Jordan Rankin of Culpeper. He is also survived by one sister, Phyllis C. Boleyn and husband Roscoe of Bealton; a brother-in-law, Richard C. Barber of Culpeper and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Aleene C. Barber and his step-mother, Mary Carpenter Clybern Sellers. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Culpeper Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard C. Barber officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Fairview cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Parkinson's Disease Research, P.O. Box 16073, Bristol, VA, 24209. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is handling the arrangements.

Artenis Sergent, 86, of Spotsylvania County died on Monday, April 14, 2003 at his home. He was veteran of the US Army and served during World War II and the Korean War. He retired with over 37 years of Federal service. He is survived by his wife, Hulda M. Sergent; a daughter, Elsa H. Sergent of Alexandria; four sons, Henry L. Sergent of Stafford, Charles A. Sergent of Alexandria, Jacob B. Sergent of Haymarket and Michael L. Sergent of Lexington, SC; two sisters, Audrey Hinkle of Summersville, WV and Violet Fowler of Craigsville, WV; a brother, Brentford E. Sergent of Portage, IN; three grandchildren, one great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2003 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg at 12:30pm. Inurnment will take place in Quantico National cemetery.

Zelma Iris Buraker, 72, of Culpeper, died Saturday, December 21, 2002, at Mountain View Nursing Home in Madison. She was born November 8, 1930, in Madison county to the late George William Buraker and Willie Estelle Buraker. Miss Buraker is survived by four sisters, Reda Lantz, of Montrose, W. Va., Eva Mae Abernathy and Virginia Anderson, both of Culpeper, and Iva Dene Efird, of Brightwood. She is also survived by three brothers, Ray Buraker, of Lynchburg, and William Buraker and George "Harold" Buraker, both of Culpeper. Additional survivors include many friends, family and loved ones. Miss Buraker is preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Buraker. A graveside service will be held at Fairview cemetery on Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ed Marsh officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mountain View Nursing Home Building Fund, HC 5, Box 186, Aroda, VA 22709. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.
