Anne Laura Michno, 80, of Culpeper died Sunday, September 1, 2002, at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. One of 7 children, she was born March 3, 1922 in Madison County, VA to the late Alonza Parker Martz and Alice Edmonia Martz. She moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she met and married Frank Michno in 1944. She is survived by her two children, Theresa A. Wirth, of Inman, SC and Timothy F. Michno of New Canaan, CT; five grandchildren and four of her siblings, Ella Adamson, Alice Crossman, Lawrence Martz and Irene Streckfus. The family will receive friends Friday, September 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday September 7, at 8:30 a.m at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Fr. Leo Zonneveld officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.

Frances Evelyn O'Reilly, 94 of Spotsylvania, died Saturday, August 31, 2002 at her home. She worked for the Department of the Army for over 30 years before retiring. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Murray of Spotsylvania; a grandson Robert J. Zepernick of CA; a sister Louise Branca of Arlington; and three nieces Mary Free, Barbara Freschi and Linda Darnell. No funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to any charity of your choice. Found and Sons Funeral Chapels of Fredericksburg is handling the arrangements.

Rudolph Wakeman

Mr. Rudolph Wendell Wakeman, 87, of Spotsylvania died on Thursday, December 19, 2002 at Mary Washington Hospital. In 1975 Mr. Wakeman was the recipient of the outstanding achievement award in the field of conservation from the Virginia Wildlife Federation for donating 61 acres of scenic easement to the Virginia Outdoors Foundation. He was also cited for work with the Nature Conservancy and he organized a committee to restore the old Salem Baptist Church cemetery. Mr. Wakeman was a member of the Republican National Committee and was a lifetime member of Salem Baptist Church. He loved boating and traveling. He is survived by two brothers, Newell D. Wakeman of Fredericksburg and Ralph A. Wakeman of Tallahassee and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and his faithful canine companion, Precious. His wife of 60 years, Johnny H. Wakeman preceded him in death. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg from 7:00-9:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2002 at Salem Baptist Church cemetery at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Randy Allensworth officiating. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Shriners Children's Hospital, c/o Acca Temple, PO Box 9217, Richmond, VA 23227.

Giglio E. Scuteri, 87 of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, October 13, 2002 at home. A veteran of WWII, he retired as an employee from New York City, and from United Cerebral Palsy in Commack, NY. He is survived by a daughter Barbara J. Reuter of Pennsylvania, a son Richard W. Scuteri of Fredericksburg; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Petrino of Brooklyn, NY. The family will receive friends at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg, on Thursday, October 17, from 7 - 9:00 pm, with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, on Friday, October 18 at 10:30 am with Father Donald J. Ronney officiating. Interment will follow in Quantico National cemetery.

Eugene Atkins

Eugene Davis Atkins, 84, of Spotsylvania died on Sunday, November 17, 2002 at Mary Washington Hospital. Born in Caroline County to the late Lucy and Willie Atkins, he was a longtime member of Round Oak Baptist Church. Mr. Atkins worked at the FMC Plant and Beck Furniture as well as at Quantico before retiring as a refrigeration mechanic from Ft. Belvoir. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He leaves behind his wife of almost 65 years, Edith O. Atkins, his son and daughter-in-law, Eugene David and Gloria E. Atkins, his son and daughter-in-law, Albert Gary and Shirley B. Atkins, all of Spotsylvania, as well as three grandchildren, Laura Kate A. Headley of King George, Cameron A. Atkins of Richmond and Karey L. Atkins of Spotsylvania. Survivors also include his brother and sister-in-law, James A. and Nancy P. Atkins of Fredericksburg, his sister, Louise Cash of Amherst, VA as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg from 7:00-8:30 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel at 11:00 am with the Rev. Randy Newsome officiating. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Round Oak Building Fund, PO Box 129, Corbin, VA 22446.

Palmer Wright

Mr. Palmer Alvin Wright, 66, of Stafford died on Friday, November 22, 2002 at his home. Mr. Wright is survived by his loving wife, Shelby, of Stafford, three children, James Wright, of Burke, Robert Wright and Pamela Arnold, both of Spotsylvania a brother, Carl Wright of Manassas, a sister, Lois Rejonis of Oakton, Virginia. He is survived also by numerous grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless dear friends. Mr. Wright was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool and playing with his grandchildren. He was as member of Arlington Baptist Church as well as the Loyal Order of the Moose #583 in Woodbridge. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 24, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 25, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Hudgins officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. David Clark Lesh, 53, of Castleton died Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at Lacey Spring Adult Home, in Amissville. He was born April 6, 1949 in North Carolina to the late Edgar Loren Lesh and Elvira Holt Erwin Lesh. Mr. Lesh is survived by two brothers and their families, Joseph Erwin Lesh of Culpeper and Edgar Loren Lesh, Jr. of Sterling, VA. Family and Friends will gather for a time of fellowship on Saturday, January 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the home of Cherry Vanneman, 1110 Old Rixeyville Road, Culpeper. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.

Barbara Hicks Geslock, 69, died Monday September 30, 2002 at Mary Washington Hospital. Born and raised in Fredericksburg, VA to the late Floyd Earnest Hicks, Sr. and Mabel Edith Dowdy Hicks. She was a member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church and had retired in 1988 from the Marine Corps Combat Develop Command at Quantico, VA after 37-1/2 years of service. She started her federal career at the age of 17 as a clerk typist and after numerous promotions throughout her career, retired as an employee development specialist with responsibilities as an Equal Employment Counselor, Upper Mobility Program Manager, Employee Assistance Coordinator and a sexual harassment instructor. She was proud of her involvement with women's issues in the mid-70's and helping women get into traditional male jobs, such as painters, carpenters, heavy equipment operators and firefighters. A very civic-minded individual, she found time to be involved in her community as a big sister to two young girls, a Brownie leader, Cub Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, and organist and pianist for several churches and nursing homes in the area. While president of the Soroptimist International of Fredericksburg, she started the Women's Forum in 1982, an annual program for women that is still held each year. After her retirement, she devoted herself to various community projects. She was co-founder of the women's Resource Center and served as its executive director for many years; co-founder of the Shelter for Abused Women; and was the director and pianist for the Senior Singers of the Fredericksburg Senior Citizen Center. Following the death of her sister, Florence Graves, she took over and continued her sister's project of documenting the genealogy of the Hicks family. She completed the genealogy and it was published as the "Descendants of Andrew T. Hicks." During the course of her civic service she was local President of the American Cancer Society; President of the Chopawamsic Toastmasters; board member of the Fredericksburg Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons, and chaplain and board member of the Fredericksburg Senior Citizens. In 1995 she received the Citizen Salute Award, given by Friends of the Mary Washington College Community Orchestra for a lifetime of volunteerism and The Woman of the Year Award given by the Woman's Club of Fredericksburg. She is survived by two sons, Joseph John Geslock and Mark Geslock, both of Spotsylvania; two grandsons, Mark Joseph and Jack Donald Geslock, both of Spotsylvania; a sister, Lucille Skinner of Stafford, a brother, Donald Hicks of Stafford and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Earnest Hicks, Jr. and a sister, Florence Hicks Graves. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg from 6:00-8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Oak Hill cemetery. Following the interment the family will receive friends at the family home on Duchess Drive. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Spotsylvania County Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 101, Spotsylvania, VA 22553 or to the Fredericksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 444, Fredericksburg, VA 22404.

Gene Lipscomb

Mr. Gene Lipscomb, 73 of Spotsylvania died Thursday July 18, 2002. He was a lifelong musician, song writer, and poet; and a member of Eagles Lodge #4123. He is survived by his wife and lifelong sweetheart, Vivian Jones Lipscomb; two daughters Catherine Jarvis of VA Beach, and Patricia Uncle of Piney Point, MD; three sons Darryl Jones of Fredericksburg, Scott Jones of Spotsylvania; and Neil Lipscomb of Lewisburg, TN; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. McCormick "Mac" Cummings, 32 of Stafford, died Saturday March 30, 2002 at Mary Washington Hospital, due to complications from a past injury. A native of New Zealand, he served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Aukland New Zealand, before coming to the United States. He is survived by his wife Rebecca, a daughter Amanda Abramson of the home, two sons Mathew Abramson and Gabriel Cummings of the home; his parents Tura Ioane Cummings and George Cummings of Raratonga, Cook Islands; three sisters Josephine Teokota and Maria Cummings both of Raratonga, Cook Islands, and Ngatokoa Attriage of Australia; and a brother George Cummings, Jr. of New Zealand. The family will receive friends at Found and Sons Fredericksburg Chapel on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Thursday, April 4, 2002 at 2:00 pm, Bishop Roger Kulbeth officiating, interment will take place at Stafford Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to The Cummings Family Fund, c/o The Parker Foundation, P.O. Box 337, Garrisonville, VA 22463. Found and Sons Arrangement Center in Stafford is handling the arrangements.
