William "Bill" Settle, 67 of Culpeper, went home to be with his lord after a long, long illness on January 12, 2002. He was born on October 17, 1934 in Rappahannock County to the late Brue Brueington Settle and Susie May Settle. Mr. Settle retired from Arlington County School Systems after twenty-six years. He is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Shirley Ann Woodward Settle of Culpeper, his son Kyle Andrew Settle and his wife Tonya, and his daughter Shirley Darlene Settle Welling and her husband Ronald, all of Culpeper. Additional survivors include five grandchildren, Krystal Settle, Ronald Welling, Cortney Welling, David Allen Settle and Andrea Settle. He loved his children and grandchildren very, very dearly. Mr. Settle is also survived by a sister Lucy Mae Burke of Culpeper, and a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Settle of Bealeton, a special friend Robert "Papa" Apperson of Culpeper, and a host of neices, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, William Allen Settle and six brothers, Clarence Ashby Settle, Cleveland Helton Settle, Clifford Milton Settle, John Brueington Settle, James Matthew Settle, and Gene Carlyle Settle, three sisters, Gladys Roberta Smoot, Helen May Settle, and Annie Settle. The family will receive friends, Tuesday January 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held Wednesday January 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. L. D. Savage and Rev. James Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be his nephews, and flower girls will be his neices. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Massanova Pentecostal Church Building Fund, 691 Aaron Mtn. Road., Castleton, VA 22716. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.

Huey Long Atkins, 66 of Sperryville died Sunday January 13, 2002 at Fauquier Hospital. He was born on September 12, 1935 in Sperryville to the late Ebb Atkins and Bertie Atkins. Mr. Atkins is survived by his wife of thirty six years, Fay Atkins, three sons, Michael L. Atkins and his wife Jennifer and Jeffrey D. Atkins and his wife Jill all of Sperryville and William H. Atkins and his wife Missy both of Luray, VA, and one daughter Julie F. Atkins of Sperryville. Additional survivors include two grandchildren, Jordan N. Atkins, and Ryan M. Atkins both of Sperryville. He is also survived by three brothers, Ebb Atkins, Jr. of Manassas, George Atkins and Mahlon Atkins, both of Sperryville, five sisters, Juanita Atkins, Elsie Atkins, and Jane Baker, all of Sperryville, Annie Huff of Flint Hill, and Ruth Atkins of Washington, Va., and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Minnie Pullen. The family will receive friends, Tuesday January 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville. A funeral service will be held Wednesday January 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville with Rev. Jon Heddleston officiating. Interment will follow at Sperryville cemetery. Pallbearers will be Elmer Atkins, Wilson Atkins, Michael L. Brown, John Eubank, James Leake, and A.Y. Stokes. Helen VanDoren

Helen W. VanDoren, 72, of Boston died Monday, January 14, 2002, at her residence. She was born March 2, 1929 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Martin Weibel and Mary Trum Weibel. Mrs. VanDoren is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Fred Earle VanDoren, Jr., of Boston, two daughters, Ellen L. Sanner of Boston, and Lydia VanDoren of Culpeper and a son, John Earle VanDoren of Lignum. Additional survivors include three grandchildren, Marianne Carney of Columbia, SC, Tonya Marie Locke Howe of Ann Arbor, MI, and Nathaniel Earle Howe of Culpeper, and two great grandchildren, Matthew and Samatha Fridley. She is also survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Weibel, Edna Simon and Marie Lamendola all of Flemington, NJ and one brother, Herbert Weibel of Hamptonville, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Frank Martin VanDoren, and five brothers, George, Fred, John, Michael and Martin Weibel, Jr. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 18, at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Fr. Leo Zonneveld officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview cemetery. Lucerne Winfrey

Lucerne Donnon Winfrey, born November 9, 1928, in Valley Park, Missouri, departed this life on January 13, 2002 in Fairfax, Virginia. "Don" served in the U.S. Military in the Korean War. He worked for the Federal Aviation Agency in Oklahoma City and Washington, DC; and retired as a trial attorney for the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, DC. He received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Missouri at Columbia, and his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Winfrey, his children Donna von Helbing, Patricia Sims and her husband David, Austin Terrell Woodcock, Kim Winfrey and his wife Rilda, Holly Winfrey, Jon Winfrey and Heather Winfrey. He had fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters Barbara Atchison, Joan Fortune and Phyllis Simone. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 18, at 11 a.m. at Culpeper National cemetery. Honors will be provided by the Culpeper American Legion Post #330 and the Culpeper V.F.W. Post #2524. Isabella Luisa Benavides, infant daughter of Chris and Allyson Benavides of Spotsylvania County, died Saturday, January 12, 2002 at her home. In addition to her parents, Isabella is survived by two sisters, Rachel and Elizabeth Benavides, both of the home; her maternal grandparents, Phil A. and Linda I. Hart of Norfolk; her paternal grandmother, Luisa D. Benavides of Laredo Texas and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Cristobal R. Benavides. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 11:00am with the Rev. Paul Scalia officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington National cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations in her name to the Catholic Charities of Arlington, Children Services program, 3838 Cathedral Lane, Arlington, Virginia 22203 or to the Spinabifida Association of America, 4590 McArthur Blvd., N.W., Washington D.C., 20007. Mary Frances Olive Sullivan, 69 of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Mary Washington Hospital. A native of White Oak, she was an active member of the Hollywood Church of the Brethren; volunteered as a Gray Lady at Mary Washington Hospital; and previously worked for J.C. Penny for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her father Jesse Olive and her sister the late Thelma Olive Rollins. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Wilmer Sullivan; a daughter, Dianne Snellings of Stafford; two sons, Gary Sullivan of New Mexico and Greg Sullivan of Fredericksburg; her mother Blanche Hudson Olive of Stafford; two grandsons; and a sister Laverne Olive of Stafford. The family will receive friends at Found and Sons Fredericksburg Chapel on Monday, March 18, 2002 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Hollywood Church of the Brethren on Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at 2:00 pm, interment will take place at Oak Hill cemetery, Rev. Rick Ritchie officiating. Mary George

Mary George, 71, of Woodbridge died on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at her home. She retired from Giant Food as a cashier in 1979. She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Cox-Carter of Bethesda, Sondra George of Baltimore and Margaret R. Best of Madison; a son, Freddy George of Alexandria; a brother, Charles Cox of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Margaret Cox of Washington, PA; six grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry George. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg at 1:00 pm.

Emerson Hudson

Mr. Emerson M. "Red" Hudson, 91, of Stafford County died on March 15, 2003 at the home of his granddaughter. Mr. Hudson was born on January 12, 1912 in King George County to the late Laura Miles and Pierce Montgomery Hudson. Mr. Hudson was employed at the FMC Cellophane Plant on Tidewater Trail for over 26 years. He also worked part time at the Fredericksburg Auto Auction until the age of 89 retiring after 32 years. Mr. Hudson was an avid Nascar fan and loved golf. He was a member of Grace Memorial Church, Fredericksburg Elks Lodge #875, Knight of Pythias Lodge #22, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1655. He is survived by a stepson, Edward Hall of Port Charlotte, FL; four grandchildren, Gary Dillard of Port St. Lucie, FL, Sandra Mitchell of Richmond, and Jeffrey Dillard and Brenda Withers of Fredericksburg as well as her husband Robert W. Withers; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris M. Hudson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, Fredericksburg, from 7 to 9 p.m. A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Oak Hill cemetery at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harlan E. White officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Washington Hospice, 2300 Fall Hill Ave., Suite 210, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.

Darren Bentley O'Dell, 30, of Woodside, NY died on Sunday, March 16, 2003 at his sister's home after a long illness. He was an executive regional makeup artist for Lancome Cosmetics for six years. He is survived by his parents, Marsha A. and Arless B. O'Dell, three sisters, Caroline M. Wells of Hillman, Michigan, Karen M. Marcello of San Diego, CA and Sharon L. Zaccagni of Newport News, VA, two nieces and two nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 20, 2003 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg from 6:00-8:00 pm. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed.

Paul Edward Cutshall, 71 of Fredericksburg, died at his home on Thursday, March 7, 2001. He retired from Klotz's Salvage after 35 years. He is survived by his wife over 31years Barbara Ann Dillard Cutshall; two daughters, Nancy Wedding of Hanover, and Jill Hedge of Fredericksburg; a son Jack Cutshall of the home; two sisters, Shirley Castle of Spotsylvania, and Faye Coates of King George; and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Found and Sons Fredericksburg chapel on Monday, March 11, 2002 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at 12:00 pm, Rev. Bill Price officiating. Mr. Jackie "Jack" Ray Johnson, 63 of Falmouth, VA, died June 1, 2002 at Mary Washington Hospital of complications resulting from chronic granulomatous disease. Mr. Johnson had been hospitalized at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD for over a year. He was an active member of Fairview Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, VA. Mr. Johnson retired from the Federal Government in 1993 after 37 years of distinguished service. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Hilda Gormaus Johnson; two sons, Mark Johnson of Richmond, VA, Matthew Johnson of Burlington, VT; two brothers, Douglas Johnson of Sophia, WV, James Johnson of Roscommon, MI; five sisters, Marcella Headley, Betty Ehman both of Charleston, WV, Opal Smith of West Chester, OH, Anna Ruble of Sophia, WV, Dreama Chapman of Warrenton, VA and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Earnest Johnson and mother, Rena Williams Johnson and his brother Edgar Johnson. The family will receive friends at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel - Fredericksburg on Monday June 3, 2002 from 7:00 to 9:00pm.
