William Luther Compton, 77, of Rixeyville died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, in Charlottesville. He was born August 30, 1924 to the late Luther R. Compton and Ada Jenkins Compton (Hitt). He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in World War II in the Burma China area. He is survived by one sister, Aldean Compton Hitt of Rixeyville, a half-brother, Junior Leo Hitt of Catalpa, a good friend, Mary Stevens of Falls Church, and a host of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Eunice Compton, a brother, Elzie R. Compton and his stepfather, Archie L. Hitt. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 12, at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. James Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in the Compton Family cemetery with honors provided by the Culpeper American Legion Post #2524 and the Culpeper V.F.W. Post #330. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.

William McIntyre

Mr. William Eugene McIntyre, 80 of Fredericksburg died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at Mary Washington Health Care Center, Colonial Beach. He is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Fredericksburg Council #4034 where he was a Faithful Navigator and Deputy Grank Knight. He served in the US Navy during WWII and had a total of 19 years active duty and 20 years in the Navy Reserves as a Chief Storekeeper. He also worked 25 years for C&P; Telephone company as a lineman and installer / repairman. He is survived by his wife Ann C. McIntyre; two daughters, Terry A. Callaghan of New Hampshire, Karen E. Stewart of Aldie, Va; two sons, William E. McIntyre, Jr., of Florida, Stephen P. McIntyre of Falls Church; a brother, Albert Warne McIntyre of Vienna; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son Michael D. McIntyre. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, Fredericksburg from 7:00 to 9:00pm with a rosary being said at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10:00am with the Rev. Stefan Starzynski officiating. Infant Jaden Alexander Haun, 9 months old, died on Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born on August 9, 2001, in Culpeper to William and Denise Haun. Besides his parents, he is also survived by his grandparents, Charles Tyree and Brenda Yates and Larry and Judith Haun, five aunts and four uncles, Chapat Tyree, Rebecca and Zeb Dyer, Crystal Yates, Amanda and J.D. Miller, Jerome Yates and Reggie and Sekie Tyree, great grandparents, Charles and Laura Haun and Mary Frances Yates and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Andrew and Patricia Mitura and James and Marybell Tyree. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 31, at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. Billy Scott officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fairview cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Thompson, Sr., Zeb Dyer, James Thompson, Jr., and Chuck Breeding. Franklin Corbin

Franklin R. Corbin, 66 of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, February 23, 2002 at Mary Washington Hospital. Mr. Corbin was a lifelong member of Spotswood Baptist Church. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he served for four years; two of which he served in combat. He served in the US Army Corp of Engineers during his time in the service. After receiving an honorable discharge, he continued his education at the University of California; the Robert A. Marr School of Surveying; and continuing engineering studies at VMI; the University of Virginia School of Education; and Mary Washington College in 1973 he became state commissioned as a Registered Land Surveyor and started Corbin Surveys, Inc; and later Corbin and Associates. He retired after twenty nine years of being a registered land surveyor in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and D.C. and traveling coast to coast as a Microwave Path Surveyor with Motorola, Comsearch Surveying, and Engineering firms; and the Southeastern Signal School at Camp Gordon, Georgia. He was a member of the National Society of Professional Surveyors, Inc., American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, Virginia Association of Professional Surveyors, Board of Registration for Professional Engineer and Professional Surveyors, Maryland Society of Surveyors, West Virginia Association of Land Surveyors, Veterans of Foreign Wars post #3103, Korean War Veteran's Association, Inc. Chapter 128, Disabled American Veterans, Chapter VA 7, he was also a recipient of the Korean Presidential Unit Citation campaign ribbon and citation Survivors include his wife Shelby J. Corbin; two daughters Cheryl Diane Stewart and Sheila Faye Tipton, both of Spotsylvania; two grandsons Christopher Scott Stewart, and Brian Lee Tipton, both of Spotsylvania; three sisters Lucy King of Delphi, Maryland, Mary F. Corbin of Fredericksburg, Roberta K. Minter of Herndon; four brothers J.C. Corbin and Bernard H. Corbin, both of Culpeper, Charles E, Corbin of Richmond and Irvin W. Corbin of Spotsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents Maggie Jane and Andrew Clyde Corbin; a sister Virginia M. Embrey; four brothers Raymond Corbin, Robert Corbin, Hugh Corbin, and William Corbin. The family will receive friends at Found and Sons Fredericksburg chapel on Tuesday, February 26, 2002 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Spotswood Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 2:00 pm, interment will take place at Mount Holly Baptist Church cemetery, Rev. Dan Cook and Rev. James Christopher Chappelle, Jr., of Falls Church died Friday, March 22, 2002 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He was born January 20, 1950 in Alexandria, VA. James was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in the Viet Nam conflict where he was awarded two Purple Hearts. He was a member of the Hazlewood Volunteers Company E, 7th Virginia Infantry, and the North/South Skirmish Association. James was currently employed by Duron Paints. He was a member of the Richardsville United Methodist Church. He is survived by a brother Timothy Weedon and wife Sylvie of Richardsville, VA., two sisters Ginger Hibbs and husband Paul of Locust Grove and Debbie Wagoner and husband Terry of Locust Grove,and two brothers and two sisters of the Tesh family. Additional survivors include his step-father Edgar Weedon of Locust Grove, an aunt & uncle, Ruthie & Lance Cannady of Orlando, FL., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl Tesh and Carolyn Chappelle Weedon and grandparents Mr & Mrs James Chappelle. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 25, at 10 a.m. at Richardsville United Methodist Church cemetery with full military provided by the United States Marine Corps. Raymond "Pop" Preston Mills, Jr., 74, of Crozet, formerly of Culpeper, passed away with his wife and children by his side, Friday, March 22, 2002, at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 10, 1927, in Eggbornsville, VA to the late Raymond P. Mills, Sr. and Emma Woodard Mills. Mr. Mills was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving in WWII. He was a former member of the Amissville Ruritan club and Amissville Vol. Fire Dept. Mr. Mills is survived by his wife, Shelby Jean Mills, of Crozet, four sons, Eugene Franklin Mills, and his wife, Dorcas, both of Front Royal, Kenneth Earl Mills,of Culpeper, Wayne Preston Mills, of Duck, NC and Raymond Philip Mills, and his wife Cindy, both of Griffinsburg, two daughters, Dora Jane Dawson, of Culpeper and Karen Ann Blight, and her husband Bobby, both of Culpeper, two step sons, Warren Lee Wood, Jr., and his wife Linda, both of Crozet, and Dickie Williams,of Bealeton and one step daughter, Teresa Green, and her husband, Howard, both of Culpeper. Additional survivors include three brothers, Charles Mills,and his wife Gloria Jean, both of Culpeper, Robert Mills, and his wife Mildred, both of Brightwood and William Mills,and his wife R.B., both of Rixeyville, twenty-three grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Mills was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Margaret Hoffman Mills, and a brother, Egbert Jackson Mills. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 24 from 2 to 4 pm at Found and Sons Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 25 at 2 pm atFound and Sons Chapel with Pastor Mark King and Pastor Steve Mills officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview cemetery with honors provived by the Culpeper American Legion post #330 and the Culpeper VFW post # 2524. Pallbearers will be Preston Gentry, Howard Green, David Kern, Bobby Thomas, John R. Boldridge, Kenneth Dawson, William Bryant, and Roger Bryant. Honorary Pallbearers will be his brothers. James Russell Sisk, 63, of Sperryville, died Friday, March 22, 2002 at Fauquier Hospital. He was born January 8, 1939 in Sperryville to the late Albert Jackson Sisk and Bessie Young Sisk. Mr. Sisk was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a life long resident of Sperryville. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Betty Dwyer Sisk, of Sperryville, one son, Thomas Russell Sisk, and his wife Holly, both of Sperryville, and one daughter, Kelli Staples, and her husband Brian, both of Catlet. Mr. Sisk is also survived by his grandchildren, Samantha and Jacob Sisk, both of Sperryville, three brothers, Charles Ashby Sisk, of Sperryville, Albert Jackson Sisk, Jr., of Boston, and William E. Sisk, of Montana and two sisters, Esther Virginia Jenkins, of Orange, and Dorothy Jane Pullen, of Sperryville. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lewis Woodard, and one sister, Mary Edna Woodward. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 25 from 7 to 9 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 26 at 1 pm at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. John Staples officiating. Interment will follow in Sperryville cemetery. Donald P. Molony, Jr., 74, of Remington, Virginia, died Monday, March 11, 2002, at Fauquier Hospital. He was born October 20, 1927 in Flint, Michigan to the late Donald P. Molony, Sr. and Mary Molony. Mr. Molony was a decorated veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was purple heart recipient. Mr. Molony is survived by his wife, Ruby Molony of Nashville, TN and three daughters, Maribeth Sweeney and her husband, Mark both of Purcellville, VA, Christen Corbin and her husband, Clark both of Remington, VA, and Jaci Arrington and her husband, Gary both of Warrenton, VA. Additional survivors include a number of grandchildren and one nephew. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Susie Molony and Betty Crisler. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 27, at 3 p.m. at Arlington National cemetery with honors provided by the United States Navy. Meredith Scott

Meredith Leitch Scott, Cdr, USN (Ret), died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at the Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 5, 1915 in Wilmington, N.C to the late Philip H. Scott, Capt, USCG (Ret) and Martha Leitch Scott. After Capt. Scott's retirement, the family moved to Orange County where their roots were and settled at "Beau Monte". He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Harriet Green Fore Scott. Other survivors include his brother, Johnny Scott of Somerset; three stepsons, Joe Garino of Hilltop Lakes, Texas, P. Winfree Fore III of Harrisonburg and James G. Fore of Winchester and two stepdaughters, Elizabeth F. Keatinge of Pacific Palisades, CA and Catherine F. Hoffman of New Hope. Also surviving are one nephew, Peter Belfield of Waitsfield, VT and one niece, Ann Belfield Thornton of Lawrence, NY. Comdr. Scott is an alumnus of Christchurch School, Woodberry Forest and Yale University. He received his commission in the Navy from the midshipman school at Northwestern University and served nearly 22 years, mostly on destroyers. Following his naval career he was a representative for Massachusetts Life Insurance Company. He was active at St. Stephens's Episcopal Church were he served on the vestry, was the first president of Region I and member of the Diocesan Executive Council. He was a former chairman of the local Red Cross chapter and served for a number of years as disaster chairman. At Yale, he belonged to the St. Anthony fraternity and was a member of the legendary "Iron Man" football team, which as underdogs beat Princeton in 1934 after playing both offensive and defensive for the whole game. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nita Garino, two brothers, Philip and William and one sister, Martha Scott Belfield. A memorial services will be held at St. Stephens's Episcopal Church on Wednesday, March 27th at 11 am, conducted by the Rev. Michael Gray, with interment in the St. Stephen's Memorial Garden. Memorial contribution may be made to Christchurch School, Christchurch, VA 23031. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.

Frank Michno

Frank A. Michno, a retired automobile mechanic, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, Palm Sunday, at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was 79. Mr. Michno was born in Baltimore and, with nine brothers and sisters, grew up on Wolfe Street where his family owned a neighborhood grocery. A severe hand injury he sustained as a young man working for Bendix Radio prevented him from enlisting in the Armed Forces during the Second World War but, despite his disability, he became a self taught auto mechanic. In 1996 he opened his own business, a service station under the name Michno's Esso, on the corner of Wilkens and Leeds Avenues. Among his many regular customers were a number of doctors from St. Agnes Hospital who he always held in high regard. Mr. Michno retired from the U.S. Postal Service after moving to Florida in 1978. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anne L. Michno of Culpeper, Virginia; a daughter, Theresa A. Wirth of Annapolis, Maryland, a son, Timothy F. Michno of New Canaan, Connecticut, and five grandchildren. Additional survivors include four sisters, Jenny Krull of Dundalk, MD, Lillian Rosenthal of Silver Spring, MD, Theresa Michno, and Constance Kmieciak both of Baltimore, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Michno and Theresa Wojciechowski Michno, and three brothers and two sisters. The family will receive friends and relatives at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia on Tuesday, March 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Culpeper on Wednesday, March 27, at 10 a.m. with Fr. Leo Zonneveld officiating. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Spotsylvania, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Michno's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101. Willard F. Hansbrough, 79, of Barboursville, died Friday, March 22, 2002, at Medical College of Virginia, in Richmond. He was born April 30, 1922 in Stevensburg to the late James Hansbrough and Ellen Walker Hansbrough. Mr. Hansbrough is survived by his wife, Winona R. Hansbrough of Barboursville and four children, William "Billy" Hansbrough and his wife, Debbie both of Ruckersville, Ellen Murphy and her husband, Regis both of Falls Church, Beverly Simmons and her husband, Jerry both of Falls Church, and Douglas Hansbrough of Barboursville. Additional survivors include one brother, Stewart Hansbrough, two sisters, Jessie Brown and June Umberger, nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Hansbrough, one daughter, Joan Hansbrough, two brothers, James and George and two sisters, Ruby and Louise. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be Thursday, March 28, at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Pastor John Crawford officiating.
