Julian M. Evans
Julian Manles Evans, 85, of Mineral, died Saturday, September 20, 2003.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 26 at Hillcrest cemetery, Louisa.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joan Loraine Evans.
Mr. Evans was born in Fredericks Hall, the son of the late Wesley Evans and Kate Cornell Evans.
He was retired from Vivian E. Dickerson Lumber Company with over 40 years of service.
Woodward Funeral Home, Inc., Louisa, is handling the arrangements.

Delois B. Moody
Delois Brock Moody, 75, of Spotsylvania, died Thursday, September 18, 2003 at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Barry Carpenter and the Rev. Edward Moody, will be held at noon on Thursday, September 25 at Laurel Hill Baptist Church, Mineral. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by a sister, Jeralean B. Comfort of Spotsylvania; a stepson, Everrett S. Moody Jr. of Washington, D.C.; a stepdaughter, Thelma Noble of Washington, D.C.; and a great-niece, Devenia McLaurin and her husband, Don, of Spotsylvania County.
Mrs. Moody was born December 13, 1927 in Louisa County, the daughter of the late James Lewis and Lena R. Coleman Brock. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Everrett S. Moody Sr.
She was a retired nursing assistant with the Orange County Nursing Home.
Satchell’s Funeral Services, Orange, is handling the arrangements.

Bernard S. Plageman
Bernard Shelton Plageman, 76, of Mineral, died Monday, September 7, 2003.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Hubert Hart and Pastor Bruce Cole, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 10 at Hopeful Baptist Church, Montpelier. Interment was in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Alice L. Plageman; his son, J. B. Plageman and his wife, Retha; his daughter, Susan P. Louk and her husband, Allen; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Emily, John and Amber; and his sister, Bernice Wilkins.
Mr. Plageman was born April 28, 1927, the son of the late George and Lucy Shelton Plageman.
He was a self-employed painter and tobacco farmer.
Lacy Funeral Home, Mineral, handled the arrangements.

Pearl C. Proffitt
Pearl Coe Proffitt, 85, of Cul-peper, formerly of Montpelier, died Sunday, September 7, 2003 at the Baptist Home, Culpeper.
Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Bruce Cole, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 12 at Hopeful Baptist Church, Montpelier. Interment was in the church cemetery.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Proffitt was born September 9, 1917 in West Virginia, the daughter of the late James Patrick and Diona Tolbert Coe. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bruce F. Proffitt.
She was a homemaker.
Lacy’s Funeral Home, Mineral, handled the arrangements.

Tynesha M. Ross
Tynesha “Tiny” Monique Ross, 12, of Bremo Bluff, died Thursday, September 18, 2003.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Leroy Ross, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 27 at the Fluvanna County Middle School. Interment will be in the family cemetery in Bremo Bluff.
The family will receive visitors at the home of Mrs. J. Garnes in Bremo Bluff and Mrs. D. Saunders in Louisa following the service.
She is survived by her father, Fred J. Ross and his wife, Lolita, and their children, Jalisa and Felicia of Louisa; her grandparents, Patricia Ross and Henry Wells of Louisa, Josephine Garnes of Bremo Bluff and Cleveland Anderson of Richmond; three devoted aunts, Denise Saunders and her husband, Roger, and their children Roger J. and Tierra, Matilda Ross and her children, Tyrell, Kydell and Shirell of Bremo Bluff, and Margaret Ross of Bremo Bluff; an uncle, Steward Nichlos of Bremo Bluff; and a number of other relatives and dear friends.
Tynesha was born March 22, 1991 in Charlottesville.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia L. Kendall; a cousin, Tydell Ross; and an uncle George Ross.
Colbert Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

John M. Smook
John Thomas Smook, 75, of Bumpass, died Monday, September 22, 2003 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 27 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Montpelier.
Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 26 at Reid Funeral Home, Ashland and on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry; his sons, Ted, Ted and Pat; his daughters, Cindy Browder, Pam Oliver and Jeanette Redden.
Mr. Smook founded KOSMO Village in Glen Allen in 1954 and was very active in community affairs.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mountain Place, Suite 200, Charlottesville, Va 22911.

John E. Bannister
Deacon John Edward Bannister, 86, Louisa, died Monday, September 15, 2003 at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Thomas J. Wooden, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 20 at First Baptist Church, Louisa. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
There will be a viewing one hour prior to service.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lucille Bannister; a niece and caregiver, Dorothy A. Poindexter and her husband, Aubrey; four other nieces; three nephews; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Bannister was born December 9, 1916, the son of the late James and Ethel Lewis Bannister. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Major Bannister.
He attended Louisa County Public Schools and served in the United States Armed Forces during World War II.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the deacon board for a number of years.

Virginia L. Beeler
Virginia Louise Beeler, 95, of Baldwin, Georgia, formerly of Louisa, died Monday, September 15, 2003 at the Senic View Nursing Home, Baldwin.
Graveside services, conducted by the Rev. Sparky Pritchett, were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, September 17 at Oakland cemetery, Louisa.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Niksch of McLean and Virginia Eloise Griner of Toccoa, Georgia; a son, Calvin Howard Beeler of Louisa; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Beeler was born November 8, 1907 in Louisa County, the daughter of the late James Calvin and Vergie Ann Tulloh Rogers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Forrest Beeler; two brothers, James A. Rogers and Joseph R. Rogers; and two sisters, Lillian Madison and Frances Gottschalk.
She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Richmond.
She and her late husband ran an appliance business in Louisa for a number of years before retiring.

Louise H. Bellomy
Louise Harris Bellomy, 82, of Gordonsville, died Thursday, September 11, 2003 at her residence.
Graveside services, conducted by Pastor Carmon Hartsfield, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13 at Grace Episcopal Church cemetery, Cismont.
She is survived by a daughter, Juanita Bellomy Brookman and her husband, Wayne, of Gordonsville; three grandchildren, Benjamin W. Brookman, Estelle Timberlake and Clarence “Butch” Brookman; and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bellomy was born April 22, 1921 in Louisa County, the daughter of the late William James and Reba Thomasson Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl O. Bellomy; three brothers, Alvis W. Harris, Donald M. Harris and Vivian O. Harris; and three sisters, Juanita V. Ryan, Edith Davis and Polly Bellomy.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 1290 Pantops Mt. Place, Suite 200, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
