Willie W. Cosby
Willie Wright Cosby, 87, of Louisa, died Monday, November 24, 2003 at Countryside II Nursing Home, Gordonsville.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 28 at Thomasson Funeral Home Chapel, Louisa. Interment was in First Baptist Church cemetery, Louisa.
He is survived by two nieces, Mary Reese Davis and Roberta Ann Jackson; his cousin, Harry Harris and his wife, Dorothy, of Mineral; a brother-in-law, Julian Kenny and his wife, Mary, of Louisa; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Cosby was the son of the late Archie and Mattie Anderson Cosby. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alice Kenny Cosby.
He received his early education in the Louisa County Public School System and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Louisa.

Clarence L. Cox Sr.
Clarence Lee Cox Sr., 68, of Bumpass, died Friday, November 28, 2003.
Graveside services, conducted by the Rev. Grant Bomberger, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 2 at the Thomas-Cox family cemetery, Albemarle County.
He is survived by two sons, Clarence L. Cox Jr. and Richard H. Cox; a daughter, Ruth C. Stanley; a brother, Richard W. Cox, all of Bumpass; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Cox was born June 28, 1935 in Albemarle County, the son of the late James Henry and Ollie Thomas Cox.
He was a retired carpenter and avid hunter.
Lacy Funeral Home, Mineral, handled the arrangements.

Martha H. Dobbins
Martha Allen Hunt Dobbins, 81, of Louisa, died Saturday, November 29, 2003.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, December 1 at Oakland cemetery, Louisa.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Talley; a sister Blair Sharpe; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Virginia, New York and Texas.
Mrs. Dobbins was born August 28, 1922 in Louisa, the daughter of the late Charles Allen Hunt Sr. and Frances Chenowerth Hunt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. Lewis Dobbins.
She and her husband were the owners of Dobbins Insurance Service for a number of years until they sold the business in 1990.

Jessie D. Dunn
Jessie D. Dunn, 91, of Louisa, died Monday, December 1, 2003 at Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Michael Kubat, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 5 at Hillcrest cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas M. Dunn of Gum Spring, Wayne G. Dunn of Parkton, Maryland and Edward L. Dunn of Richmond; a brother, C. C. Dunkum of Green Springs; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Dunkum of Mechanics-ville and Lou Dunkum of Dillwyn; three grandchildren, Christopher Dunn of Richmond, Jennifer Dunn of Culpeper and Keith Marshall of Fredericksburg; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dunn was born November 20, 1912 in Louisa County, the daughter of the late William Richard Dunkum and Mary Lou Marks Dunkum. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Richard Dunkum and Woodrow Marks Dunkum; and three sisters, Ruby Florence Dunkum, Blanche Elizabeth Dunkum and Catherine May Dunkum.
She was a member of Louisa United Methodist Church and was retired from the Louisa County School System with over 30 years of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Louisa United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 217, Louisa, VA 23093.

Alan B. Elliott
Alan B. Elliott, 59, of Louisa, formerly of Laneview, died Saturday, November 29, 2003.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 3 at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, Saluda. Interment was in Glebe Landing Baptist Church cemetery, Laneview.
He is survived by two sisters, Mae Christian Brown and her husband, Bernard, of Portsmouth, and Lois G. Smith and her husband, Grayson, of Warsaw; a brother, Jerry Elliott and his wife, Vickie, of Richmond; a devoted friend, Patrick Bennett of Louisa; two nieces; five nephews; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Elliott was co-owner of Louisa Printing Company.

Loretta R. Gardner
Loretta Lynn Rhinehart Gardner, 34, of Palmyra, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. David Clay, were held Sunday, November 30 at Effort Baptist Church. Interment was at Beaver-dam Baptist Church cemetery.
She is survived by her mother, Elaine Rhinehart; a sister, Lisa Fairchild; two children, Heather Elaine Gardner and Charles “Wayne” Gardner; a niece, Kayla Fairchild; a nephew, Hunter Fairchild; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Ms. Gardner was preceded in death by her father, Russell Rhinehart.
Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store, handled the arrangements.

Marie S. Leonhardt
Marie S. Leonhardt, 72, of Palmyra, died Friday, November 28, 2003 at her residence.
A wake was held at 10 a.m., Monday, December 1 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. A funeral mass, conducted by Father Jerry Przywara, was held at 11 a.m.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Leonhardt; two daughters, Susan Leonhardt of Denver, Colordao, and Lenore Leonhardt Wright and her husband, David, of Richmond; and two stepgrandchil-dren, Elizabeth and Maitlan Wright.
Mrs. Leonhardt was born May 31, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine S. Lizzi.
She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store, handled the arrangements.

Pete Novish
Pete “Banky” Novish, 88, of Mineral, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at his residence.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Anne Manson, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 5 at the Church of the Incarnation, Mineral. Interment will be in Spring Grove Memorial Park cemetery, Mineral.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, December 4 at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucille Novish; a son, Jimmy Novish; a daughter, Patsy Hall and her husband, Rodger; three grandchildren, Beverly Hall Sprouse and her husband, Ricky, Todd Hall and his wife, Tina, and Susan H. Stanley and her husband, Stuart; two great-grandchildren, Megan L. Hall and Samantha C. Stanley; three brothers; and two sisters.
He was a retired carpenter and a longtime member of the Church of the Incarnation.

Beauford H. Campbell Jr.
Beauford Hosbon Campbell Jr., 72, of Fork Union, died Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 30 at Fork Union Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Fork Union Memorial cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Fork Union Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Louise S. Campbell; two sons, Donald T. Campbell of Fork Union and Philip M. Campbell of Roanoke; a daughter, Jane C. Pendergrass of Fork Union; a sister, Jo Ann Wright of Greensboro, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Beauford M. “Beau” Campbell, Donald T. “Kip” Campbell Jr., Corri L. Campbell, Katelyn C. Pendergrass, Kimberly M. Campbell, Renea M. Campbell, Joshua F. Campbell and Katherine E. Campbell; and one great-grandchild, Trenton M. Campbell.
Mr. Campbell was born July 16, 1931 in Belton, South Carolina, the son of the late Beauford H. Campbell Sr. and Sarah Banister Campbell. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
He was retired from Colonial Pipeline Company and was a member of Fork Union Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont or the Fork Union Baptist Benevolence Fund.
