Joseph Wendell Perkins of Plainfield, N.J., formerly of Richmond, on May 8, 2001. Graduate of Virginia State University. Husband of Janette Perkins, father of Wendi Perkins, stepfather of Brenda Marshall and Sharon Drayton, brother of Morris, Hamilton and Newton Perkins. Memorial services Saturday, 2 p.m., First United Methodist Church, 1 East Broad St., Westfield, N.J. Arrangements by Judkins.

POWELL
Louis Edward Powell, 44, of Tappahannock, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001. He is survived by his sister, Sue Spaulding of Hurst, Texas, his nephew, Matthew Willoughby of Fort Worth, Texas; and his girlfriend, Jean Ann Conley of Tappahannock. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Interment Essex Cemetery.

POWELL
Sharon Powell, 59, of Midlothian, passed away May 9, 2001. She was preceded in death by her two infant children; her father, Jim Beall; her mother, Helen Braithwaite Beall; and special aunt, Charlotte Mitchell. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Vicki Eddins and Lisa Dickey; her sister, Carol Barnette; brother, Tom Beall; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and special friends, Phil Reese and Betty Edgemon. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Friday from 4 till 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Oak Grove Baptist Church. Interment Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Virginia or the American Cancer Society.

ROBERTS
Lillie Martin Roberts, 94, of McKenney, died May 9, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Martha P. and Capus Martin. She was the widow of John H. Roberts and was preceded in death by her three sons, Marvin W., Jesse H. and John P. Roberts. She is survived by a daughter, Martha R. Clay and her husband, Gene of Hillsborough, N.C.; a sister, Mary M. Abernathy of Dinwiddie County; and a daughter-in-law, Rose Marie Roberts of McKenney; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted at Concord Presbyterian Church, Rawlings, Va. on May 11, 2001 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Charles Young officiating. Funeral arrangements by Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, VA.

STOWE
Frances A. Stowe, 62, of Richmond, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.R. Stowe. She is survived by three children, Rebecca Carlton and husband, Gary, Lisa Wilton and husband, Craig and Randy Stowe; her mother, Mary Strickler; three sisters, Elizabeth Layne, Betty Sweeney, Sylvia Murray; one brother, Paul Strickler; four grandchildern, Cheryl, C.J., Jordan and Alexis. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday at Hardy Central Baptist Church. Interment church cemetery.

THOMASON
Ralph R. Thomason, age 78, of Charlotte Court House, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001. Surviving are his wife, Katherine Ann Thomason; three sons, Richard Thomason of Glen Allen, Norman Thomason of Rochester, N.Y., Bobby Thomason of Ladysmith; three granddaughters, two grandsons, two stepgrandsons; one sister, Virginia McGlynn of Charlotte Court House. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Browning Funeral Home with interment at 2 p.m. Sunday in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, Va.

WARREN
Departed this life May 7, 2001, Pearl E. Warren. She is survived by her three sons, Andrew, Donald and a devoted son, Tyrone Warren; seven grandchildren, a host of stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; her mother, Hannah E. Warren; daughter-in-law, Cynthia A. Warren; two aunts, Mary Maddox and Claudine Watkins; a host of other relatives and friends; one devoted cousin, LaVerne W. Jones. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave., where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12 noon. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

WATKINS
David L. Watkins of 918 W. Grace St., formerly of the old Fulton community, celebrated his homegoing on Saturday, May 5, 2001. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith (Weedie) Watkins. He is survived by his brother, Maurice Watkins Sr.; uncle, Milton (Mikey) Johnson; devoted friend, Burton Smith; two aunts, Elizabeth Johnson of Richmond and Dorothy Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla; niece, Kolandra Watkins; nephew, Maurice Watkins Jr.; several cousins, among them Lurethia (Tuddie) Grant; sister-in-law, Karen Watkins; godmother, Elsie Pitts; foster sister, Annette Moody of San Diego, Claif.; other relatives and friends. His remains rest at the Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Remains will lie in state Saturday 1 p.m. at Fulton Community Church, 4908 Creedmore St., where funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Pastor Dwayne E. Whitehead officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.

WEBER
Elizabeth Robinson Weber, age 82, of Phenix, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001. Surviving are her husband, Walter Weber; and two sisters-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bethel Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.

WILLIAMS
Departed this life May 6, 201, Mrs. Tenner Lee Williams of Bronx, N.Y., formerly of Goochland County, Va. She is survived by two sisters, Alice Eddy and Betty L. Shipman; three brothers, Elmore Adolphus and Robert Prosser; one aunt, Rachel Prosser; host of nieces, nephews and cousins, five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where funeral services will be held 1 p.. Saturday. Rev. Patrick H. Jones officiating. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the funeral home 12:45 p.m. Saturday.

WILSON
Joseph Henry Wilson Jr., 80, of Richmond, died May 9, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Mary W. Wilson; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra W. and David G. Zeller; two devoted grandchildren, Mary Kathleen and Jason Scott Zeller; a devoted niece and nephew, Mary and Kenneth Young; several great-nieces and great-nephews. Mr. Wilson was a WWII veteran and retired from RF&P Railroad after 49 years of service. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a Christian wake service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment to follow in Mount Calvary Cemtery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Benedict Church, 300 N. Sheppard St.

WINSTON
Rosa Allen Winston, 88, formerly of Charles City, died on Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at her home in Philadelphia, Pa. Sister of Claiborne E. Allen of Charles City. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday from Union Baptist Church, Charles City. Rev. Tommy Drayton officiating. Interment church cemetery. Family and friends are asked to kindly assembly at the church.

WRIGHT
Twyla Geddie Wright, age 80, of Richmond, passed away Monday, May 7, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Paul B. Wright; three children, Twyla W. Gendron of Richmond, Melanie W. Miller and her husband, Ric, and Paul B. Wright Jr. and his wife, Kathy, all of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Dorothy G. Gammon and her husband, Raymond A. of Highland Springs; four grandchildren, Laura and Paul Gendron, Jacob Suarez and Travis Wright. Mrs. Wright was a member of the Faith Bible Class of First Baptist Church, past president of the Northam Garden Club, past president of Richmond Council of Garden Clubs and of the Piedmont District, and a 20-year member of the board of directors of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, and state chairperson for the Blue Star Memorial Highway. Her remains rest at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 11. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of First Baptist Church. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Star Memorial Highway, c/o Elene Combs, 319 E. Fincastle, Tazewell, Va. 24651.

ALLEN
Ms. Ella M. Allen of 2701 4th Ave., departed this life April 22, 2001. She is survived by one daughter, Dianne Marie Edwards (Leslie); son, Jeannie R. Williams; two brothers, John A. Allen and Charles W. Allen (Lena); seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two sons-in-law, one sister-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends; one devoted, Hattie Alexander. Her remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted Friday, 11 a.m., Bishop Kevin A. Williams Sr., officiating. Interment Maury Cemetery.

David A. Battle Sr. of Richmond departed this life in McGuire Veterans Hospital Wednesday, April 25, 2001. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral notice later.

Departed this life April 24, 2001, Little Miss Tamya Nyasia Brantley of Richmond. Remains rest at the Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

CHANDLER
Departed this life April 22, 2001 in a Richmond hospital, Cecile Braxton Chandler, age 71 of Richmond, VA, originally of King & Queen and Essex County, Va. She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Anderson, Kathy Tyler; and one son, Jeff Chandler, all of Richmond; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Fred Braxton of New Jersey. Remains will lie in state Friday, April 27 from 12 noon until 7 p.m. at Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock and one hour before the service Saturday at the church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28 at 12 noon at First Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Newtown, Va., Rev. T. Scott Swan, Pastor, officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Services entrusted to Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock.

COLEMAN
Daniel L. Coleman, of Quinton, departed this life April 21, 2001. He is survived by his father, Raymond Miffin Coleman; mother, Melanie Brown; two brothers, Duronchelo Coleman and Domonic Brown; grandparents, Esther Baker, Mabel Harris, David Miffin, Ernest Harris; great-grandmothers, Essie Baker and Renda Coleman; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; devoted friends, Kerrie Clark, Preston and Nicki Phaup and Nicole Dettor. Funeral service 2 p.m. Friday at J. Leory Charity Funeral Home, Charles City. Burial St. John Baptist Church Cemetery.
