A memorial service for Phyllis Seay Coutlakis will be held Saturday, April 28, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Bremo Bluff, Va.

CURTIS
Betty Jane Curtis, 61 of Richmond, died April 24, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel G. Curtis and is survived by a son, Donald G. Curtis; and a daughter, Kathryn A. Curtis. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and where funeral services will be held Friday 12:30 p.m., with interment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

DAME
Harry Phillips Dame, 85, died April 24, 2001. Survived by his wife, Elsie G. Dame; stepson, G. Sheldon Ayres; stepdaughter, Jane D. Ayres; five stepgrandchildren, Brent, Bryan, Matthew, Tim and Laura; two sisters, Pauline Carter and Evelyn Mills; one brother, Donald Dame. Burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington, Va. Memorial service for the family only. Memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

DOUBLES
Margaret Fourqurean Grey Doubles, on Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Iliff Nursing Home in Dunn Loring, Va. The widow of Judge M. Ray Doubles, who was Dean Emeritus of the University of Richmond Law School and Dr. John H. Grey, minister of the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Doubles was born November 11, 1906, in Richmond, VA. She was a lifelong Virginia resident and had lived for the past 15 years with her daughter, Mrs. Page Grey Dudley, in Falls Church. Mrs. Doubles was a member of The Falls Church (Episcopal). In addition to her daughter, she is survived by three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two stepchildren, and six great-stepgrandchildren. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Music Fund, Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185.

EDWARDS
Warren Benson Edwards "Nat", age 68, of Mechanicsville, died April 24, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marceline Fox Edwards, "Mickey", of 49 years; a daughter, Judy E. and husband, Gregory A. Huband; a son, Warren Benson Edwards Jr., "Benny", and wife, Cindy; a granddaughter, Amber Jackson; a sister, Laura Fox; and numerous nieces and nephews. Remains rest at the B.W. White Funeral Home, Aylett, where the family will receive friends from 4 til 8 p.m. Thursday and where service will be at 2 p.m. Friday. Interment in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairmount Memorial Baptist Church, 4205 Ravenswood Rd., Richmond, VA 23222.

Departed this life April 22, 2001, Mr. Jerry Leroy Fells of 2542 Fleet Ave. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy W. Cooper; one brother, Larry D. Fells of Rocky Mt., N.C.; one sister, Dorothy A. Jones of Petersburg, Va.; one niece, Tanika D. Tisdale; one aunt, Estelle Shuller; a host of devoted cousins; one sister-in-law, Janice Fells; one brother-in-law, George Jones Jr.; one faithful uncle-in-law, Albert Neal of Petersburg; other relatives and friends, among them, two devoted, Ronnie and Gwendolyn Coles of Richmond. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where the family will receive friends Thursday 7 to 8 p.m. and where funeral services will be held Friday, 1 p.m. Dr. Kenneth Dennis officiating. GALVIN
Daniel F. Galvin of Williamsburg died April 25, 2001. Mr. Galvin retired from Newport News Shipbuilding as Vice-President of Material Management. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Mary Immaculate Hospital and Advisory Board of St. Francis Nursing Center. He was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church. Mr. Galvin is survived by his wife, Frances Reynolds Galvin; and two sisters, Margaret Bleichert of Tampa, Florida and Mary Kauanagh of New York City. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28 at Washington Memorial Park, Richmond, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bede Building Fund, 500 Richmond Rd., Williamsburg 23185. Arrangements by Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg.

HADEN
Nettie Morris Haden, daughter of the late Clayton and Willie Timberlake Morris of Goochland, Va., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 21, 2001 at her home. She is survived by her children, Ann H. Wilkins and Parfena H. Quarles of Goochland, Sue H. Kimbrough (stepdaughter) of Jamaica, N.Y., Dr. Joseph Haden Sr. and wife, Diane S. Haden of Ft. Washington, Md., Charles B. Haden Jr., M.D. and wife, Joyce M. Haden and Daniel Haden of Goochland, Va., Cornell Haden of Natural Bridge, Va., and one son, Percy Raymond Haden preceded her in death; one sister, Van Morris of Louisa; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the County Line Baptist Church, Goochland, Va., Rev. Walter Jones, Pastor. Arrangements by the Thomasson's Funeral Service, Louisa, Va., (540-967-1890).

Sarah W. Hill, formerly of 3900 Overbrook Rd., departed this life on April 23, 2001. She is survived by her cousin, Martha P. Harding; foster-daughter, Diane Smith; a host of other relatives and friends. Remains at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave., where funeral services will be held on Friday, 1 p.m., Rev. James H. Willis officiating. Interment Church of Field Cemetery (Hanover County).

LEWIS
Deaconess Arline Coy Lewis of 3408 Irvington St., the retired owner of Lewis Dry Cleaners, entered eternal rest April 22, 200l. Cherishing her memories are her husband, Clarence E. Lewis Sr.; one son, Clarence E. Lewis Jr.; four grandchildren, Robert Gonzales of Lyn, Mass., Myron O. Lewis of Washington, D.C., Clarence E. Lewis III and Tangela Lewis-Easter of Richmond; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Deaconess Grace Coy Washington of St. Albans, N.Y., and Evangelist Mae Coy Abdullah of Springfield Gardens, N.Y.; nine brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. LEWIS
Mrs. Thresa V. Lewis, 98, died Tuesday, April 18, 2001 in Chesterfield County, Va., at the home of a son, James J. Lewis. Her husband, Joseph P. Lewis; a son, William L. Lewis; and a grandson, Brian J. Lewis, preceded her in death. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Jane of Chesterfield County, Va.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Other family members include a beloved niece, Mary Jean Carsey of Salem, Ore.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law of Sullivan, Ind.; and a number of other extended family members and friends, many residing in Michigan, where she lived nearly 45 years before returning to Sullivan, Ind. and later to Richmond in 1983. She was a member of the Ginter Park United Methodist Church and, until January, resided in Imperial Plaza. A devoted wife and mother, she was born 1902 in Curry Twp., Sullivan, Ind., the lone survivor of a family of nine children. Possibly the most unique experience of her life while a homemaker in Flint, Mich. was her service as a lathe operator during WW II in a war material production plant. A memorial service will be held at the Southminster Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 28 at 4 p.m. Memorial gifts to the Bon Secours Hospice, 5801 Bremo Road, Richmond, Va. 23226 are welcome. Interment will be in Sullivan, Ind. at a date to be determined.

MASON
Shelley J. Mason, 26, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2001. She is survived by her mother and father, Betty and Grayson Martin; two sisters, Rhonda Jenkins of Virginia Beach and Dee Dee Williams; an aunt, Helen Morris; two nephews, Brandon and Gabriel; two nieces, Megan and Laura; grandmothers, Mary Sanford and Edna Mason; and numerous aunts, uncles and friends. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday. Interment Maury Cemetery.

MONCURE
John Moncure, founder and retired president of Moncure Oil Corporation, died Monday, April 23, 2001 at the age of 82. Prior to founding Moncure Oil Corporation in 1959, Mr. Moncure ran a poultry business from "Picquenocque", the family home in Henrico County. A veteran of World War II, he graduated from Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia. He served in the Army Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant stationed in England working as a navigator on a B-17 bomber. Prior to entering the Army Air Corps, he was a member of the Virginia National Guard. Mr. Moncure was educated at McGuire School, Episcopal High School, and the University of Virginia. He attended All Saints Episcopal Church. Mr. Moncure is survived by his wife of 52 years, Douglas Parker Moncure; three daughters, Margaret Moncure Conway of Fredericksburg, Ann Moncure- Williams and Elizabeth Moncure Varland, both of Richmond; three sons, Alexander Parker Moncure of New Canaan, Connecticut, John Moncure Jr. and Thomas Rutherfoord Moncure, both of Richmond; and thirteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Parker Moncure Vaden. He is also survived by a brother, T. Rutherfoord Moncure, and a sister, Patty Moncure Drewry, both of Richmond. A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church on Thursday, April 26, 2001 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the McGuire School Foundation, P.O. Box 7145, Richmond, Virginia 23221 or to the Mary Parker Moncure Vaden Endowment for Citizenship and the Arts, Collegiate School, North Mooreland Road, Richmond, Virginia 23229.

OWEN
Everett Montague Owen, an insurance executive and former Richmond resident, died Monday, April 23, 2001, of cancer at his home in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was 88. Mr. Owen was born and raised on West Avenue in Richmond. He attended the McGuire School and graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1935. Mr. Owen joined Davenport Insurance Corporation, eventually becoming its president. When Davenport was acquired by Marsh and McLennan, he became senior vice president, retiring in 1977. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Mr. Owen's primary interests outside of business were boating, flying, golf, tennis, and real estate. He is survived by his wife, Chestine L. Owen, whom he married in 1972. He is also survived by two sons from his previous marriage to Martha Scott Watkins, Lee Scott Owen and Everett Montague Owen Jr., both of Baltimore, Md.; and a stepdaughter, Linda Noey of Hawaii. A third son, Samuel Watkins Owen, preceded him in death. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 27. Interment in Hollywood Cemetery.

PAYNE
Mr. Grafton Harvey (Doc) Payne, age 73, died Sunday, April 22, 2001 at McGuire V.A. Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Helen Scruggs Payne; one son, Mark Ryan of Atlanta; two sisters, Otelia Smith and Barbara Branch, both of Waynesboro; one brother, John Payne of Afton; and six nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2001 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MCV Foundation for Cancer Research, P.O. Box 980234, Richmond, Va. 23298.

REDFORD
Ernest B. Redford Jr., 80, of Richmond, a retired Reynolds Metals and Commonwealth of Virginia employee, departed from this life Tuesday, April 24, 2001 in a local hospital. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maxine Belcher Redford; one daughter, Susan R. Ferguson and her husband, William H. Ferguson II of Varina; two grandchildren, Courtney and Ryan Ferguson; and a sister, Fay R. Gardner and her husband, Joseph P. Gardner. Mr. Redford attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and served in the US Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of Metropolitan Lodge No.11 A.F.& A.M., Meridian Lodge No.284, A.F.& A.M., Glen Allen Lodge No.131 A.F.& A.M., and Hellenic Lodge No.249 A.F.& A.M. Mr. Redford was Past Master of several lodges. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., with a Masonic memorial service to follow at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be private. REYNOLDS
Departed this life April 24, 2001 at her residence, Thelma E. Reynolds, age 87, of Hustle, Va. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Latney Reynolds of Washington, D.C. and Robert (Bobby) Reynolds of Chance, Va.; four daughters, Blanche R. Washington of Tappahannock, Va., Barbara Murphy of Lanham, Md., Norma Helen McClain of Lanham, Md. and Charlotte A. Fortune of Hustle, Va.; one brother, James Grant of Philadelphia, Pa.; 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Remains will lie in state Saturday, April 28 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock and Sunday April 29, one hour before the hour of service. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 29 at 1 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, Champlain, Va., Reverend Lee McClain, officiating and Reverend William B. Scott, Eulogist. Interment in the church cemetery. Services entrusted to Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock.
