Anne Rodgers Walker Newton died at her home in Rye, New York on May 26, 2002. She is survived by her children, Blake and Belle Newton of Garrison, New York, Anne and Roger Walther of San Francisco, California, and Julia Newton and Michael Feibish of Los Angeles, California; by her grandchildren, Jad and Christina Dunning of San Francisco, Beau and Patrick Kealy of Washington, D.C., and Samuel Newton of Garrison; and by one great-grandchild, Mason Dunning of San Francisco. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Robert E. Lee Memorial Association, Stratford, Virginia 22558; the Newton Family Professorship at The College of William and Mary, Office of Development, P.O. Box 8795, Williamsburg, Virginia 23187-8795; or Christ Church, 254 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, Connecticut 06830. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church, Greenwich, Connecticut at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, with interment in the Newton family graveyard in Hague, Virginia at 11 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2002.

PELAQUIN
Judith Atwell Pelaquin departed this life May 27, 2002, at age 53. She is survived by two sisters, Nancy Tyler and Brenda Owens; devoted cousin, Linda Thomas; nieces, nephews; and Smokey. Contact family at 7401 Key Deer Circle, Midlothian, Va. 23112.

RADCLIFFE
Mrs. Harris S. Radcliffe of Richmond entered eternal rest May 27, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison R. Radcliffe; and a daughter, Virginia "Polly" Cundiff; and an infant son. Cherishing her memory are three daughters, Dorothy R. Chambers and Barbara R. Grey, both of Richmond and Mary Jane Wood of Old Westbury Long Island, N.Y.; seven grandsons, Robert J. Jr. and Michael R. Grey, both of Richmond, Gilpin Chambers of Arlington, Texas, Radcliffe Chambers of Silver Spring, Md., Eddie Wood and Rodney Wood of Martha's Vineyard, Mass.; one granddaughter, Rene Mintz of Reston, Va.; and three great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her a very devoted brother, Ambrose Staples of Roanoke, Va.; and a sister, Virginia Self of Martinsville, Va.; along with a host of relatives and friends. A eulogistic service will be conducted Thursday, May 30, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the All Faiths Chapel of the A.D. Price Funeral Establishment, 212 E. Leigh St. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. RAGLAND
Mildred Brown Ragland, 104, died Monday, May 27, 2002. She was born September 15, 1897 in Hampton, daughter of Lawrence and Marie Brown. She was the widow of William G. Ragland. Educated in Phoebus and Hampton, Mrs. Ragland graduated from Fredericksburg's Normal School, now Mary Washington College. She taught school for two years in Phoebus and then moved to Richmond and married Mr. Ragland in 1924. They operated Ragland Florist for many years. She is survived by several cousins. The family will receive friends 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 East Laburnum Avenue. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery, and a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Westminster-Canterbury. REGELSON
A memorial service will be held for Dr. William Regelson, medical pioneer, Monday, June 3, at 3 p.m. at the MCV Medical Sciences Building, 13th and Marshall Streets, Richmond, Va.

ROSSON
Norman Elmo Rosson, age 80, of Louisa, died May 28, 2002 in Louisa. Born May 10, 1922, son of the late Forrest and Annie Bickley Rosson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Forrest H. and John R. Rosson; sister, Elva Rosson Swift; and grandson, John Gubrud. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nora Carter Rosson; son, Ronnie E. Rosson and his children, Janet and Christopher Rosson, all of Virginia Beach; daughter, Rosemary Gubrud and her children, Norine Carro, Carolyn, Ronald, Eric and William Gubrud; and six great-grandchildren, all of Illinois; two nephews, Boyd Swift Jr. of Beaverdam, Va. and R. Randolph Rosson of Yorktown, Va.; five nieces, Jean Broaddus of Partlow, Va., Bonnie Escott of Merriville, Md., Linda Saunders of Colorado Springs, Colo., Cindy Jurek of Augusta, S.C. and Margaret Ann Rigsby of Louisa, Va. In 1953 Mr. Rosson moved to Newport News, Va., where he was employed by Newport News Ship Building as an electrician for 36 years. In 1995 he returned to Louisa with his wife. He was a lifelong member of Goldmine Baptist Church. He also enjoyed gardening and his two cats. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa. The family will receive friends, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa, Va. Rev. Roland Powell and Rev. Perry Clore officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Goldmine Baptist Church.

SHUMAKER
Eva Ellen Shumaker, 84, of Farmville and formerly of Richmond, died May 27, 2002. Preceding her in death were her husband, James Wiley Shumaker; and a grandson, Cecil C. Shumaker III. She is survived by her sons, Cecil C. Shumaker and wife, Judson of Woodbridge, James M. Shumaker and wife, Evelyn of Whitestone, Va.; a daughter, Ethel S. Smith and husband, James, of Cary, N.C.; five grandchildren, Karen Dolan, Cynthia Holeman, Pamela Barden, Chris Shumaker and Margaret Pearson; seven great-grandchildren, Chris and Laura Dolan, Tyler and Troy Barden, Rachelle and Mason Shumaker and Nicholas Holeman; devoted sisters-in-law, Docia (Dot) Shumaker of Farmville, Bea Shumaker of Dillwyn and Gladys Rhea of Farmville. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Dillwyn Town Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Dillwyn, P.O. Box 32, Dillwyn, Va. 23936. Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, is in charge of arrangements.

SORRELLS
Effie Bradley Sorrells, age 75, of Richmond, passed away Monday, May 27, 2002. She is survived by her loving family who will always cherish her memory. She is predeceased by her parents, Leslie and Dollie Bradley; her sisters, Olvie Frettwell and Inez Robertson. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Andy G. Sorrells; her children, Debbie Dixon and her husband, Luther of Chester; her son, Leslie G. Sorrells of Glen Allen; her grandchildren, Trippe Dixon and his wife, Wendy and Karen Hansen and her husband, Jeff; one brother, Clayton T. Bradley of Fishersville, Va.; one sister, Irene Steele of Va. Beach; also a number of nieces and nephews. Her remains rest at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. STEWART
William B., two years old; Mary Sue, one year old; and Stephon, one month old, of King William died on May 23, 2002. TAGGART
William Robert Taggart Jr., 73, U.S. Air Force Retired, of Kenbridge, Virginia, died on May 27, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Mary D. Taggart; one son, Dennis K. Taggart and wife, Marydawn Taggart of Fremont, Ohio; two daughters, Barbara Nunley of New Kent, Virginia and Tammie Patten and husband, Bryant Patten of Thetford Center, Vermont. Mr. Taggart was preceded in death by one son, Robert A. Taggart. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tracie Bailey, Hillary and Meagan Nunley, Ashley, Samuel and Riley Taggart and Eleanor and Ross Patten; and two sisters, Muriel Wright of Unionville, Virginia and Molly Clatterbaugh of Culpeper, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the Clarke Funeral Home Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Services will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2002 at Clarke Funeral Home with interment to follow with full military rites at Kenbridge Heights Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kenbridge Emergency Squad, Kenbridge, Va. or to the New Hope Baptist Church, Blackstone, Va.

THOMAS
Emerson Lee Thomas, 88, of Richmond, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gladys T. Thomas; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Bob Dye and Barbara and Claude Smith; three granddaughters, Kari Lavecchia, Kristi Harrison and Susan Thomas; and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lewis and Don King; a sister, Mary Robertson; a devoted sister-in-law and nephew, Tootie and Dean Castleberry. TRIPODI
Carmela Tripodi, 71, of Sewickley, Pa., died Sunday, May 26, 2002 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born July 2, 1930 in Fair Oaks, Pa., the daughter of the late Dominick and Rose Tripo Melissari. Surviving are her husband, Carmelo Tripodi; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Dorothee Tripodi of Midlothian, Va.; a sister-in-law, Jane Melissari of Dunnellon, Fla.; a niece, Rose Marie Yeager of Bradenton, Fla.; and a nephew, Frank Melissari of College Station, Texas. Preceding her in death was a brother, James Melissari. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church, Sewickley, Pa. The family will be hosting a reception immediately following the Mass at the St. James Catholic Church Hall and cordially invites everyone present to join them. Private interment will take place in Beaver Cemetery. The John Syka Funeral Home, Ambridge, Pa., is in charge of arrangements. WAKE
Departed this life May 26, 2002, Mrs. Thelma G. Wake, age 90, of 1208 Garber Street. She is survived by four daughters, Helen P. Dixon, Dorothy W. Johnson, Elzena E. Wake and Sandra L. Wright; one son, Wilbert H. Lomax; 24 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several cousins, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral Thursday 1 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 2811 Fendall Avenue where remains will lie in state one hour prior funeral time. Dr. A. Lincoln James, pastor, Rev. Nathaniel D. West officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 12:45 p.m. Thursday.
