BRADBY
Lynnette C. Bradby of Charles City departed this life February 9, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Bruce A. Bradby; two daughters, Bruce Sharita and Carolynnette; mother, Edwina C. Jones; grandmother, Malissa Belton; one brother, Dennis Jones; two sisters, April Dabney and Rochelle Charity; two aunts, Maurice Bradby (Hewlett) and Helen Rustin (George); several uncles; father-in-law, Real Bradby Sr.; three brothers-in-law, Real Jr., Vincent Sr. and Ralph; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Banks (George), Ella Banks (Cecil) and Valerie Adkins (Levin); and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, one devoted, Leatrice Hayes; and devoted friend, Etta Turpin. Remains rest at J. Leroy Charity Funeral Home, Charles City. At 12 noon Friday Mrs. Bradby will rest at Union Baptist Church, where services will be held 2 p.m. Rev. Tommy Drayton officiating. Interment church cemetery. Please omit food.

BURLEIGH
Charles H. Burleigh, 85, of Richmond, formerly of Ormond Beach, Fla., died Monday, February 11, 2002. He is survived by a daughter, Susan Hackman of Richmond; a son, Harry Burleigh of Arizona; two grandsons, Justin Hackman of Richmond and Kaylan J. Burleigh of Arizona; and a brother, Walter Burleigh of Texas.

BURT
Maggie Z. Horn Burt, 105, died on February 5, 2002 at Goodwin House in Alexandria. Born in 1896 at Shelbyville in East Texas, she settled in Fort Worth at age seven with her five siblings and parents, Dr. John Henry Horn and Ada Sullivan Horn. During World War I she studied piano privately and at a predecessor of Texas Wesleyan. She had private pupils in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, then after 1930, in New York City and Long Island. Her husband, Henry Radcliffe Burt, died in 1937. She retired, continuing to live in and around New York City until 1976 when she settled in Washington, D.C. She moved to Goodwin House in 1991. Survivors include her son, Henry R. Burt of Fairfax, Virginia; and two grandsons, Henry and Radcliffe of Richmond. Memorial service will be at Goodwin House on Friday, February 15.

CASEY
Violet Williams Casey, 63, of Chesterfield, passed away Monday, February 11, 2002. She is survived by her children, Debra Coleman, David Barry Casey and Bonnie Allen; a half-brother, Clarence Eldridge Williams Jr. of Alexandria, Va.; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2002 at Central Baptist Church. Interment church cemetery.

CHAMBERS
John Frank Chambers, age 86, of Blackstone, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Everett and Nannie Sterling Neblett Chambers; his wife, Ethlyn Marie Craft Chambers of Goschen; his sister, Norma Chambers of New York; and brother, Everett Sterling Chambers. He is survived by his three sisters, Ruth E. Pearce of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nancy C. Baer of Bluefield, W.Va. and Catherine C. Chambers of Blackstone; seven nieces and two nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a graduate of Hampden Sydney College, class of 1938, member of ODK honorary fraternity and KA social fraternity. He was a Lieutenant Senior Grade serving with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a retired employee of Blackstone Fuel & Supply, retiring in 1980 with 33 years of service. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2002 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where Mr. Chambers was a lifetime member, a frequent member of the Vestry, and served as Junior Warden. Interment Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements by Hamner-McMillian Funeral Home.

CLARKE
Departed this life February 10, 2002, Mr. Robert N. Clarke Jr. of Richmond. He is survived by two sons, Robert III and Jamal Clark; six daughters, Catrina Nappier, Andrea Hankins, Lisa Clark, Kimberley Tucker, Erica Brooks and Tonita Clark; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Clarke; two sisters, Rosa Chavis and Doris Clarke; two nieces, five nephews, one aunt, cousins, one daughter-in-law, four sons-in-law; his former wife, Carolyn Barnes; other relatives and friends, among them one devoted friend, Felicia Davis. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 North 25th St., where funeral services will be held Thursday 1 p.m., Rev. Ronald C. Taylor officiating. Burial Roselawn Memory Gardens.

COLE
Hazel Cole departed this life on February, 11, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a retired postmaster, a respected friend to many, and a devoted mother. Survivors include two children and their spouses, Diane White (Roger) of Midlothian, Kelly Cole (Sherry) of Clendenin, W.Va.; three loving grandchildren Travis Scott, Jesse Michael, and Taylor Shea; and two beloved sisters Ellie Spell and Iris Marino. Memorial services will be at The Brandermill Church.

DECATUR
Randolph James "Randy" Decatur, 55, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, February 9, 2002 at McGuire VA Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, February 14 at Covenant Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. William E. Jeffcoat officiating. The VFW Post 3103 will also conduct a veteran's service. Burial will take place at sea at a later date. Following the service, family and friends will gather at VFW Post 3103, 2701 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mary Jane Naecker Young Award "Alumni Scholarship Fund", (a scholarship fund awarded in memory of a very special nursing instructor by one of the first graduating classes of Richmond Memorial Hospital School of Nursing), Bon Secours - Memorial School of Nursing, 8550 Magellan Pkwy., Ste. 1100, Richmond, Va. 23227. Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, is handling arrangements.

EVANS
Thomas Arnold Evans, 69, of Richmond, formerly of Roanoke, Va., passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Margie Rutrough Evans; his daughter, Lori Evans of Roanoke; stepson, Mark Fleshman and his wife, Claudia; stepdaughter, Beth Belz; four grandchildren, Brian, Nicole, Amanda and Katelyn, all of Richmond; his mother, Lillian Evans; and his sister, Evelyn Wirt, both of Roanoke. Mr. Evans was retired from Norfolk Southern Railways, and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War/Conflict. His remains rest at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, Va.

FERGUSON
Katherine K. Ferguson, 82, of Glen Allen, passed away Monday, February 11, 2002. She was the widow of Ralph E. Ferguson and the beloved mother of a daughter, Robin Patterson and her husband, Charles; son, Jerry Ferguson; cherished grandmother of Stephanie Patterson, Paula Trainham and Chris Shepperson and his wife, Kathy; loving great grandmother of Morgan Trainham, Joell and C.J. Shepperson; and sister of Dallas Ketcham and his wife, Margie. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, where services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday. Entombment in the mausoleum of Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Childrens Hospital.

FISHER
E. Garland Fisher, 56, of Richmond, passed away February 12, 2002. He is survived by his mother, Iris B. Swain; sister, Yvonne Fisher Taylor and her husband, Charles; brother, L.J. Swain Jr. and his wife, Kelley; four nieces. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment in Sunset Memorial Park.

FORNEY
Jeanne Hathaway Forney of Carolina Beach, N.C. died Monday, February 11, 2002 at Davis Health Care Center. She was born June 14, 1922 in Boston, Mass., daughter of the late Nathaniel and Gertrude Smith Hathaway. Surviving are her son, Nat Forney of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Linda Mohr of Wilmington, N.C.; four grandchildren, Sarah Mohr, Emily Mohr, Laura Mohr and Christine Forney; one brother, Nat Hathaway; and a sister, Trudy Caldelli. Private services will be held at a later date.

GIBSON
Mary Lou Gibson, 67, of Richmond, died Monday, February 11, 2002. She is survived by her husband, J. Larry Gibson; a daughter, Gail Gibson Will; a son, J. Larry Gibson Jr.; four grandchildren, Rachel Leigh and Cameron Will, Grayson and Owen Gibson; three sisters, Annie Belle Agee, Dorothy Trevey and Edith Quigley; two brothers, Stanley and James R. Vaughan. Mrs. Gibson was a retired Mathematics Educator teaching at Douglas Freeman High School, Virginia Commonwealth University and the Mathematics and Science Center. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2002 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Mary Lou Gibson Memorial Scholarship, Virginia Commonwealth University, P.O. Box 843042, Richmond, Va. 23284-3042.

GOODMAN
Departed this life February 1, 2002, Mrs. Cathy Reed Goodman of Richmond. She is survived by two sons, Tyrone and Antoine Reed; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday.

Elder Thomas E. Green Sr. of Richmond departed this life February 8, 2002. He is survived by his daughter, Yolanda Revels (Reginald); son, Thomas E. Green Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; a grandson; six granddaughters; a great-grandson; brothers, William Sr. (Ernestine), Charles Jr. (Doris), Richard Sr. (Jackie), Rudolph Sr. (Peggy); sisters, Helen Oliver (John), Eunice Henderson, Josephine Roney; a devoted friend, Rosa Fleming; a devoted cousin, Avis L. Holmes; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave., where family will receive friends Wednesday (today) from 6 to 7 p.m. Eulogistic service will be conducted on Thursday at 1 p.m. from Eastminister Presbyterian Church, 1601 Littlepage Street. Sarah Elizabeth Whitfield Jenkins, 87, of Richmond, died Monday, February 11, 2002. She was the widow of Raymond Longsworth Jenkins Sr. She is survived by two sons, Ray L. Jenkins Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth of Indianapolis, Ind. and Kent L. Jenkins and his wife, Claudine of Valrico, Fla.; her daughter, Sarah E. Jenkins of Richmond; her brother, William L. Whitfield Jr. of Richmond; five grandchildren, Ruth Myers, Ray L. Jenkins III, Warren L. Jenkins, Linda E. Jenkins and Christopher Robbins; two great-grandchildren, Sam and Emma Myers; and her devoted friend and caregiver, Velna Keberly. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany Building Fund. The family wishes to thank the staff of Manor Care Imperial Plaza for their care and compassion.

Ben R. Johns III, age 55, died February 11, 2002. He is survived by his father, Ben R. Johns Jr. of Richmond; a sister, Pamela Johns Hagberg of Marion, Mass.; two daughters, Caryn Elizabeth Johns of Norfolk and Shawna Richardson Johns of Richmond. A private service was held for immediate family. Memorial contributions may be made to Caritas, P.O. Box 25790, Richmond, Va. 23260.

Baby Tremaine L. Johnson, of Richmond, died February 12, 2002. Remains rest at Scotts Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral notice later.
