LAY
Lawrence R. Lay III, 50, of Midlothian, passed away at his home on November 4, 2001. He was born in Harrodsburg, Ky. He was retired from Allied Signal. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline B. Lay; and son, James Lawrence Lay; his parents, Lawrence and Eva Lay Jr.; one brother, Edward; and a sister, Diane, all of Harrodsburg, Ky. Services will be held at Randall's Funeral Home in Harrodsburg, Ky. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes. Foundation. A memorial service will follow for family and friends at a later date.

LOOMIS
Charles P. Loomis, 88, of Glen Allen, formerly of Buffalo, N.Y., died Friday, November 2, 2001. He is survived by two daughters, Caroline Davenport and Charlene Nuernberger; grandchildren, Bonnie Gerken, Wayne and Darren Davenport, Paula Gebauer, Shaun and Scott Nuernberger; five great-grandchildren. Mr. Loomis was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. A memorial service will be conducted 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road. Entombment in Buffalo, N.Y. at a later date. The family requests flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.

MANGANO
Charles Mangano, a retired pharmacist from Callao, died November 3, 2001. Charles was born in Garfield, N.J., on April 18, 1923. He spent the first four years of his life in Garfield. His father moved the family to Buenos Aires, Argentina, because of his mothers health. He lived there until he was ten years old, and when he returned to the United States, he did not speak English, but entered the sixth grade. He later became a linguist and spoke four languages fluently. He graduated from Garfield High School. He attended Roanoke College in Salem. He joined and was sent to the University of Richmond Navy V-12 program. After attending Columbia Midshipman School he graduated as an Ensign, U.S.N.R. He attended the Naval Minewarfare School at Yorktown, Va., prior to being transferred to Saipan in the Pacific. He served as Captain and commanded the YMS 267, which swept the Sea of Japan for mines before the occupied forces went into Japan. Upon bringing the ship back to San Francisco, he received his discharge. Charles and Jeanne were married June 8, 1946, and he attended Roanoke College and graduated August 1946. He worked at Solvay Process (Allied Chemical) for three years in the research lab. He then attended Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy, graduating June 1952. On October 31, 1952, he opened Callao Drug in Callao, where he worked until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, a mission of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Northumberland Lions Club and Virginia Pharmaceutical Association. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanne Shadwell Mangano; daughters, Carol Mangano of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., Ann Wilburn and husband, Robert of Callao, Mary Snell and husband, Victor of Warsaw; sons, Kenneth Mangano and wife, Elsie of Warsaw, Anthony Mangano and wife, Mary of Callao, Paul Mangano of Richmond, Michael Mangano and wife, Victoria of Callao, and Christopher Mangano and wife, Dawnna of Greenville; grandchildren, Joseph, Michael, David, Jennifer, Jessica, Virginia, Charles, Laura, Alexander, Marianna, Deanna, Vincent, Angela and Gena Mangano, Brett Wilburn, Rebecca and John Snell; step-grandchildren, Jamie and Christina Rowland and Justin Snell; and two step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services 11 a.m. Monday, November 5, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Kilmarnock. Interment Northern Neck Memorial Gardens, Callao. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Rainswood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Home for Aged, Michaels Rd., Richmond or Children's Hospital, Brook Rd., Richmond.

McCLOUD
William Arthur McCloud, 81, of West Point, Va. departed this life on Friday, November 2, 2001, at his home in Eltham, Va. He was preceded in death by his son, William Mac McCloud; by his father, Morgan McCloud; his mother, Lillian Moore Spain; and sisters, Lena Porter, Katherine Sullivan and Lorraine Harmon. He is survived by his wife, Adele Kaczmarski McCloud; and seven children, Lancie Mae McCloud of Fishkill, New York, and MacArthur McCloud and wife, Cynthia of Tucson, Arizona, Linda Lee Blevins, Barbara Anne Shaffer and husband, Jim, Catherine Victoria Fudella, Patricia Amanda Harlow and husband, David and Christopher Charles Morgan McCloud and his wife, Joy, all of West Point. He had 15 grandchildren, Michelle Martin Bochichio, Lancie DeNise Mazza, Morgan Trueblood McCloud, Melissa Blevins Leger, Tammy Blevins Fowler, Debra Shaffer Johnson, Amy Shaffer Harlow, Angela Helen Fudella, Donna Anne Fudella, William Francis Fudella, Jennifer Megan Harlow, Kristen Nicole Harlow, Christopher Mac McCloud, Samuel Justin McCloud, Sarah Lynn McCloud; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Juanita Vivian Adkins of Portsmouth. He was a civil engineer with the federal government. During this tenure, he constructed a base camp for the Peruvian Guardia in Mazamari, Peru. Later he took responsibility for all base maintenance, motor pool operations, new construction, and supervision of all maintenance personnel in Safiabad, Iran. While in Iran he put in an airport, eighty-eight buildings and other structures. Mr. McCloud was instrumental in constructing new guard quarters on the Russian border near Mashhad. He also left his mark in Bahrain and Turkey. In addition, he was known in the Tidewater area for the many homes he built here as a general contractor. An avid gardener and craftsman, Bill McCloud was highly respected in his community, his professional career and as a husband and father. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Vincent Funeral Home, West Point, Va., with burial in St. Theresa Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to the West Point Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc., Box X, 23181.

MUZZY
Maree C. Muzzy, 79, of Richmond, passed away November 4, 2001. She was the widow of Donald W. Muzzy. She is survived by two sisters, Annie C. Wally of Amelia and Laura E. Crostic of Richmond; also nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Signal Hill Memorial Park. Arrangements with Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel.

NURSE
Departed this life November 2, 2001, Mrs. Catherine F. Nurse of 715 Boulders Spring Dr. Retired Public School teacher in N.Y., she is survived by her loving son, Charles M. Reese and wife, Donnette Q. Reese; one granddaughter, Clarke Danielle Reese; one niece, Cheryl Lockhart; grandnieces and cousins; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. James Ryan officiating. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the funeral home 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.

REED
Oatman Dallas Reed Sr., age 95, of Varina, died Saturday, November 3, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Jane Reed; and two daughters, Dorothy Ann McCook and Elizabeth Vernell LaPrade, and is survived by one son, Oatman Dallas Reed Jr. and his wife, Dot; seven grandchildren, Bruce McCook, Dana Phillips, Brian LaPrade, Renee Collier, Kevin Reed, Troy LaPrade and Kasey Reed; three great-grandchildren, Courtney Collier, B.C. and Brittany LaPrade; one brother, W.H. Reed Sr. of Florida; and many special nieces and nephews; one son-in-law, Ben LaPrade. Mr. Reed was a member of Four Mile Creek Baptist Church. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

SALINAS
Sigrid Salinas, 32, and her children, Stefan Gabriel Salinas, 13, and Erika Blair Salinas, 11, went to be with the Lord November 2, 2001. They are survived by Sigrid's father, Gabriel Salinas; mother, Joan Salinas; sister, Kathie Salinas Lewis and her husband, Steve Lewis; brother-in-law, Mike Lewis; cousins, Maria Espiritu, Lucho Gutierrez, Vasili Uspensky and Monica Hoyas; great-aunt, Gabriella Takacsy; Stefan's and Erika's sister and brother; Alexandra and Alexander Szilassy Jr.; other family members in Peru, Hungary and Sweden; Sigrid's best friends, Hope Crabbe, Christy Davoud and Lori Dyer and her VCU professors and colleagues. A loving daughter, sister, mother, friend and two beautiful children will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Thursday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chesterfield County Police and/or Fire Department or your local rescue squad.

SEAY
Virginia Doris Howard Seay, age 80, of Urbanna, widow of Ralph Seay, died Saturday, November 3, 2001. She was a resident of Rappahannock Westminster Canterbury, Irvington. She was a retired employee of Defense General Supply in Richmond. There will be no services. Arrangements by Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, Saluda.

SIMMS
William (Bubba) Simms, of Richmond, Va. and Naples, Fla., died Friday, November 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Iona Simms; his children, Roi Barlowe, Jimmy Barlowe, Anita Simms Lorinc, Frederick K. White II, Sheila M. Simms, William Simms and Carroll Allen Martin; a brother, Charles Durwood Simms Jr.; a stepsister, Bonnie Simms; and five grandchildren. Mr. Simms retired from Philip Morris after 30 years of service and was a member of the Local Union #203 and in the Marines Reserves for nine years. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 301 and Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday.

STILLWELL
Katherine Kinney Stillwell, age 41, on Saturday, November 3, 2001, at her residence in Chester, Va., beloved wife of Douglas Stillwell; loving and devoted mother of Matthew and Christine Stillwell; daughter of Robert and Susan Kinney of Vienna, Va; sister of Robert Kinney Jr. of Reston, Va., Timothy Kinney of Charlotte, N.C. and Jennifer West of Williamsburg, Va. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, Va. on Tuesday, November 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 9970 Vale Road, Vienna, Va. on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Interment Fairfax Memorial Park. TREAKLE
Kathrine Chilton Treakle, 95, of White Stone, widow of Harman Cox Treakle, died Sunday, November 4, 2001. She is survived by one son, Harman Chilton Treakle and a daughter, Sandra W. Treakle of White Stone; two granddaughters, Kathrine Hargett of Williamsburg and Sandra McKinney of Christchurch, Va.; one grandson, Harman Chilton Treakle Jr. of Richmond; and one great-granddaughter, Emory Collin Hargett of Williamsburg. Remains rest at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 6 at 2 p.m. with interment in the White Stone Baptist Church Cemetery. Margaret Ann Tunstall Tyler departed this life November 1, 2001. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Valerie Diane in November 1999. She leaves to mourn her devoted husband of 50 years, George T. Tyler Sr.; one daughter, Darcie Tyler; three sons, Thomas Dale, Daryl, and George Tyler Jr., all of Richmond; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, among them one devoted (Little) Daryl; one sister, Evelyn Delois Tunstall; one brother, James L. Tunstall; one aunt, Elizabeth Smith; a host of nieces and nephews, two sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends, among them one devoted friend, Lucille Coleman. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th Street, where the family will receive friends Monday, 7 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Tuesday, 1:30 p.m. Rev. B.S. ANDERSON
Donald W. Anderson, 73, of Richmond, died Wednesday, August 15, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Edith Anderson; children, Thomas M. Anderson and his wife, Barbara, Ann M. Miller and her husband, Michael, Debra L. King and her husband, William; grandsons, Jeffrey W. Anderson and William C. King IV; sister, Barbara Olson; brother, James Anderson; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his sister, June Candelora. He was a member of American Legion Post 141 and a volunteer at McGuire VA Hospital. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad, American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

ANDERSON
Pauline Bandy "Polly" Anderson, 83, of Williamsburg, died Wednesday, August 15, 2001. Mrs. Anderson was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, Colonial Dames and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a retired school teacher and also retired from Colonial Williamsburg as a hostess. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. William H. Bandy, who died in 1982. Surviving are her husband, Dr. William M. Anderson; a son and daughter-in-law, William H. and Constance Bandy of Williamsburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth B. and Albert Marshall of Clearwater, Fla.; two brothers, Darrel and Clarence Pope, both of Lexington, N.C.; two grandchildren, Alexandra and Brooke Bandy. Memorial services will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2001, from the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. Beth McCrary officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Int., 120 Wall St., 19th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10005. Bucktrout of Williamsburg is in charge of arrangements.

BERRY
Virginia S. Berry, age 79, of Tappahannock, died August 16, 2001. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Castellaw; a son, Edward T. Berry Jr.; three grandchildren, Edward T. Berry III, Mark R. Berry and Jennifer R. Castellaw; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Webster and Joyce Turner; and a brother, Thomas A. Sickal. Remains rest at the B.W. White Funeral Home, Aylett, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Service 3 p.m. Sunday at Smyrna Christian Church. Interment in church cemtery.
