CULLEY
Mrs. Grace E. Culley of Richmond, formerly of New Jersey, died March 6, 2001, in Seven Hills Nursing Home. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Boynes; two stepsons, Howard and Walter Braxton; two grandsons, Durwynn L. and Darryl Boynes; five grandchildren; a sister, Bessie Gillyard; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Rev. A. Lincoln James officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery.

DEITRICK
R. Eldridge Deitrick Jr., 57, of Richmond, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Cathy L. Deitrick; five children, Matthew, Shawn, Leah, Alyssa and Trey Deitrick; his parents, Raymond and Halsie Deitrick; and a brother, S. Perry Deitrick. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.

DUKE
Pauline W. Duke, 81, a lifelong resident of Ashland, died March 5, 2001. She is survived by her brother, Harold S. Duke; nephew, Thomas Nelson Page Duke III and his wife, Debbie; five great-nieces and nephews, Thomas IV, Virginia, Tyler, Sally Duke Gardner and Laneen Duke Wood; nephew, Harry Eugene Duke Sr.; great-nephew, Harry Eugene Duke Jr.; a dear friend, Raymond Hilderband. Miss Duke was a member of the Henry Clay Womens Club. She was a certified professional secretary with Lawyers Title, a member of the Old Dominion Chapter Professional Secretaries International and worked for many years at the Presbyterian Board. Miss Duke was a deacon and elder at the Ashland Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Ashland Presbyterian Church, where her remains will lie in state two hours prior to the service. Interment Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Presbyterian Church, 401 Virginia Street, Ashland, Va. 23005.

DUNN
Erma Rich Dunn, age 90, formerly of Franklin, Va., died Wednesday, March 7, 2001. She was retired from Union Bag Camp in Franklin. Survivors include two sons, J. Craig Dunn, and his wife, Nancy, and Wayne G. Dunn, and his wife, Judith; two sisters, Jeanette Barker, and Ruth Rich; four granddaughters, Denise Romines, Sharon Rose, Angela Dunn and Michelle Dyer; six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Cutshaw Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., Richmond. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2001 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Yale, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church, Peters Bridge Rd., Yale, Va. 23897.

ELLINGTON
Lilla F. Ellington of South Hill died March 7, 2001. She was a member of the South Hill United Methodist Church and Loyalty Chapter No. 48 Order of the Eastern Star. She taught school in North Carolina for nine years and taught first grade in South Hill for 30 years, retiring in 1972. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Alice and Gene Thomas of Lawrenceville; two grandsons, Michael E. Thomas of Richmond and Raymond A. Thomas of Lawrenceville; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude George; and a brother, Charlie Pritchett, both of Bracey; a dear family friend, Norene Pritchett of South Hill; several nieces and nephews. Graveside service 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery in South Hill. Visitation Friday 7 to 8 p.m. at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home. Memorial contributions to The Hermitage, 1600 Westwood Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23227.

FLYNN
Frank S. Flynn, age 98, of Richmond, formerly of Amelia, died on March 7, 2001. He is predeceased by his wife, Thelma Hastings Flynn and is survived by his daughters, Claudine Lewis of Crewe and Kathy Koger of Richmond; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren. HAVENS
William Roscoe Havens, 86, of High St., Hopewell, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at his residence. He was born in Brunswick County and had made his home in this area since 1960. Mr. Havens was a member of First Christian Church and was a retired superintendent for the City of Hopewell, Wastewater Treatment Plant. He was the son of the late William B. and Bessie Waller Havens and the widower of Vivian Ann Traylor Havens. Mr. Havens is survived by one son, Ronald Wayne Havens and his wife, Rhonda of Hopewell; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elsie Howerton of Dinwiddie; and several cousins. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 9, 2001 at 7 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morris & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30 p.m. Interment will be Saturday, March 10, 2001 at 12 Noon in New Hope Christian Church Cemetery, Danieltown, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 203 N. 11th Ave., Hopewell, Va. 23860 or New Hope Christian hurch Cemetery Fund, Danieltown, Va. 23838.

HICK
Harry Hick of Bracey, died March 8, 2001. Survived by his wife, Edna Hick; three sons, Harry Hick Jr. of Smethtort, Pa., Glenn R. Hick of Bracey and Raymond D. Hick of Levittown, Pa.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Service 2 p.m. Saturday at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home. Interment Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation Friday 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

HICKS
Josie Nicholas Hicks of Maidens, Va., died Wednesday, March 7, 2001. She was preceded in death by her son, Gene Hicks, and is survived by her son, Russell (Buck) Hicks of Mineral; her daughters, Charlotte H. Gammon and Betty H. Stanley of Maidens; her grandchildren, John and Tim Stanley and Theresa Hicks; her great-granddaughter, Angel Lynn Stanley; and her sisters, Mary Nicholas, Ella Greve and Massey Willis. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturay at the Lacy Funeral Home, Rt. 522, Mineral, Va. Interment in the Hicks Family Cemetery, located at her home. The family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

HILTON
Ellen Wade Hilton, age 70, of Tappahannock, Va., died on March 7, 2001, at her home. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 28, 1930, she moved with her family to Neenah, Va., in 1938. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1947. She and her husband, Jimmy Hilton, owned Modern Cleaners in Tappahannock for over 50 years. She was the daughter of the late Howard Madison and Ellen Agnes Saunders and was also preceded in death by her brother, A. Howard Saunders. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James Hilton Jr. of the home; her children, Theresa (and Reid) Davis of Kernersville, N.C., Jim (and Sharon) Hilton of East Longmeadow, Mass., Paul (and Elisabeth) Hilton of Richmond, Va., and Patrick (and Renee) Hilton of Tappahannock, Va.; her sisters, Theresa Marie Saunders of Tappahannock and Regina Anne Beale of Coles Point, Va.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Welch Funeral Home, Montross, Va., from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday evening with a Rosary service at 5 p.m. A Catholic funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Tappahannock. Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the St. Timothy's Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 129, Tappahannock, Va. 22560.

HOWERTON
James Edward Howerton, 66, of Montpelier, Va., died on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at his residence. He was born in Petersburg, the son of the late Robert Curtis and Rosa Lee Wells Howerton. Mr. Howerton was in the Army Reserves, and retired from Bell Atlantic after 40 years of service. He was the huntmaster of the Fargo Hunt Club in Prince George County, and a member of West Hanover Mounted Drill Team. Mr. Howerton is survived by his wife, Sandra Melo Howerton; a son, Edward Scott Howerton and wife, Lisa; a daughter, Jamie Howerton Morrisette and her husband, Jonathon Gary, all of Chesterfield; four grandchildren, Jonna Lee, Andrew Gary and Timothy Curtis Morrisette, and James Montgomery Howerton; two stepchildren, Jennifer Marie and Diane Michelle Veach; one brother, Kenneth Childs Howerton and wife, Carolyn of Chester; one sister, Evelyn Howerton McKenney and husband, Dale of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; two nephews, William Howerton and Drake McKenney; two nieces, Heather Jodoin and Beth Harrison. Graveside services will be Saturday, March 10, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Rocky Run United Methodist Church in Dewitt with the Rev. Vander Warner and Rev. R. Roland Powell officiating. The family will be receiving friends Friday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Rocky Run United Methodist Church, Dewitt. The funeral procession will leave Saturday at 12 noon from the funeral home.

HUNNICUTT
Nell Moore Hunnicutt, age 80, of Richmond and formerly of Roanoke, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. Hunnicutt; and a daughter, Susie Hunnicutt. Surviving are two sons, Fred T. Hunnicutt and his wife, Sue Hunnicutt of Amherst, Robert L. Hunnicutt and his wife, Kitty Hunnicutt of Moseley, Va.; six grandchildren, Brett and Grant Hunnicutt, Richmond, Tommy Hunnicutt and his wife, Kim of Harrisonburg, Paige Winstead and her husband, Mike of Lynchburg, Lesly Hunnicutt, Portland, Ore., and Lisa Tubbs, Amherst; five great-grandchildren, Gabby, Anna, McKenzie, Kasey and Sawyer; also, a devoted friend, Shakey Henderson. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2001, in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. C. Lawrence Dodson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. Saturday at Oakey's South Chapel.

HUPP
Walter Hupp, 48, of Richmond (formerly of Elizabeth, W.Va.), died as a result of a tractor-trailer accident in Richmond. He was born March 28, 1952, the son of the late Walter C. and Alice Bunner Hupp. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Martha Hopkins Hupp; stepchildren, James Speck of Richmond, Sonia Snodgrass of Charles City; three stepgrandchildren. Memorial services 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home of Elizabeth, W.Va. Burial will be in the K of P Cemetery of Wirt County.

JASPER
Mrs. Marie B. Jasper, formerly of 3000 Montrose Ave., departed this life March 7, 2001. Her remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home. After 11 a.m. Saturday, her remains will rest in The First Antioch Baptist Church, Powhatan, Va., where the family will receive friends at 12 noon. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Rev. Revell E. Hicks, officiating. Interment church cemetery.

JOHNSON
Mrs. Edith Eileen Johnson, 73, of Manakin-Sabot, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Vivian L. Johnson Sr. and is survived by her son, V.L. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Shirley; two grandchildren, Melanie and Brian Johnson; two sisters, Jeanette McCoy and Selena Mills; seven brothers, Ernest, Herman, Charles, James, Horace, Alonza and Edward Stanley. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., where services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. Interment Goochland Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Centerville Rescue Squad, Company Three, P.O. Box 52, Broad Street Rd., Manakin-Sabot, Va. 23103.

JOHNSON
William R. Johnson Jr., 79, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord March 7, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine H. Johnson and is survived by his children, Catherine E. King of Indianapolis, Ind., and her husband, Douglas King, and William R. Johnson III; and two granddaughters, Amy King and Elizabeth Hedges. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., and served in the Marine Corps in WWII. He retired from American Brands, was an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, and volunteered his accounting services for the needy. Entombment of cremains will take place at the Hollywood Cemetery Mausoleum at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of the Good Shepherd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Good Shepherd, 4206 Spring Hill Ave., Richmond, Va. 23225. Arrangements by the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel.
