Mrs. Louise J. Brands, died Saturday, November 10, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Glenn E. Brands; one son and daughter-in-law, David B. and Lora B. Brands; one brother, Henry S. Johnson Jr.; one sister, Billie J. White, both of Cedar Bluff, Va.; one grandson, Cory A. Brands; and several nieces and nephews. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2001, with interment in Westhampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Laurel Presbyterian Church, 9675 Staples Mill Rd., Glen Allen, Va. 23060 or the Tuckahoe Rescue Squad.

BROWN
Courtney Lee Brown, age 21, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2001. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., he lived in the Richmond area for ten years. Courtney was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle and nephew. He is survived by his parents, Pamela Brown and Anthony Jackson; son, Joshua; brothers, Kareem, Damian, and Marcus; sister, Tawanda; niece, Nyasia; uncles, Randy, Craig and William; aunts, Cassandra, Lee Ann, and Theresa; many other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where funeral services will be held Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., Rev. Ronald C. Taylor officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.

CARLISLE
C. Wallace "Wally" Carlisle, 86, of Colonial Heights, died Sunday, November 11, 2001, at John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell. A native of Attala County, Mississippi, the son of the late Clyde S. and Gladys Turner Carlisle. He was a retired civil service employee of Fort Lee. Wally was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and earned a purple heart for his battle wounds received August 4, 1944 in France. He was a charter member of Colonial Christian Church, a Deacon Emeritus and was active in all church affairs serving with the Disciples Men and the property department for many years. Wally was a well known avid golfer and was a charter member of the Colonial Heights Senior Golf Association. He was also a lifetime member of the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284 and a member of the Colonial Heights VFW Post #2239. He is survived by his wife, Gay A. Carlisle; a daughter, Marilyn C. Williams of Varina; two sons, Ronald W. Carlisle of Roanoke and Michael S. Carlisle of Richmond; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 13, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Colonial Christian Church, with the Rev. Gloria Leggett officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Crewe Cemetery, Crewe, Va. The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the Colonial Christian Church Building Fund, 295 Dunlop Farms Blvd., Colonial Heights, Va. 23834.

CARTER
Anne Ross Poindexter Carter of Richmond, age 59, died November 9, 2001. Mrs. Carter, widow of F. Winfrey Carter, is survived by her son, Landon W. Carter; and daughter, Jennifer M. Carter, both of Richmond. Mrs. Carter was the daughter of Mrs. Garnett R. Poindexter Jr. and the late Mr. Poindexter. She was the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. B. Murray Williams of Chesapeake and the late Mr. and Mrs. G.R. Poindexter of Louisa County. Mrs. Carter is survived by sisters, Mrs. James Biglow (Martha) and Mr. Biglow of Westminster, Mass. and Mrs. John Samuel (Ginny) of Bel Air, Md.; and four nieces. She is also survived by aunts, Mrs. Dean Potter and Mr. Potter of Virginia Beach, and Mrs. Garrison Lockwood and Mr. Lockwood of Chesapeake; and a number of cousins. Mrs. Carter was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and Westhampton College of the University of Richmond. She worked for more than 25 years for the Virginia Employment Commission. Mrs. Carter was an active member of Westhampton Baptist Church. She enjoyed music and through the years participated in a number of choirs and other choral groups. She served as a volunteer with civic and cultural organizations. Mrs. Carter was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend. Her ever-present, sparkling sense of humor and sincere friendliness and thoughtfulness endeared her to us all and made our world a better place. The family will receive friends at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., and at other times at 4632 Hanover Ave. A funeral service will be held at Westhampton Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 13, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial gifts be made to Bon Secours Hospice or Westhampton Baptist Church.

CLIBORNE
Annie B. Cliborne, age 90, of King and Queen County, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2001. She was the widow of Addie M. Cliborne, and is survived by two sons, Emory P. Godsey and his wife, Etta and Charles Cleve Cliborne; one daughter, Brenda C. Morefield and her husband, John; a daughter-in-law, Mildred L. Godsey; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday. Interment Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central Virginia.

COCKE
Mr. Hoyt Peatross Cocke, 72, of Richmond, formerly of Gretna, Va., passed away Saturday, November 10, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mildred Heusmann Cocke; three sons, Alan B. Cocke and his friend, Karen, Neal H. Cocke and his wife, Kimber, and H. Gordon Cocke and his wife, Tina; two brothers, Billy W. Cocke and Delano S. Cocke; two sisters, Carolyn C. Hines and Lucy C. Simpson; four grandchildren, Chelsey, Kiersyn and Abbey Cocke and Ian Miller. Mr. Cocke was a veteran of the Korean War. His remains rest at the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 Broad Street Rd., where the family will receive friends on Monday (today) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2001. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

DALTON
Dennis Odell Dalton, age 49, of Amelia, Va., died Saturday, November 10, 2001. He is survived by his parents, Odell and Mary Dalton; three sons, Jason Christopher, Chad Odell, D.J. Dalton; and three grandchildren; two sisters, Kristi Dalton Taylor of Richmond and Candace Dalton of Atlanta, Ga. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacquelin R. Dalton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, in the Arbor Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hamner-McMillian Funeral Home, Blackstone, Va.

DODSON
Clarence A. Dodson, 88, of Chase City, passed away November 11, 2001. He was the widower of Mabel Dodson, and is survived by his sons, Luther Dodson, Red Oak, Willie Dodson; daughters, Betty Mae Bowers, Ruby Jane Reamey; brother, Earl Dodson, all of Chase City; sisters, Rachel Mull, Richmond, Edna Tucker, Chase City; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Wood Funeral Service, Chase City, 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, and where services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Charles Clay officiating. GEISEN
Raymond H. (Ray) Geisen of Richmond, retired from the FBI and the State Criminal Justice Service System, passed away November 10, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Martha H. Geisen; three daughters, Laura Walser, Mary Kate Felch and Eileen Harvey, all of Richmond; two sons, William Geisen of Centreville, and John Geisen of Elkton, Va.; sister, Irene Whiteside of Richmond; also ten grandchildren. He was a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI. Visitation and prayer service will be held Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church.

HARMAN
Elizabeth Gallion Harman, 82, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Harman Werner and her husband, Stephen; a son, Michael Edwin Harman and his wife, Michelle; a sister, Roberta Gallion Shobe and her husband, David; grandchildren, Whitney Werner Jenkins and her husband, Chris, John Christopher Werner, Ellis Gallion Harman and Rilee Coldwell Harman; and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Elizabeth Jenkins. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends Monday, 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. HATTON
Vernon "Bobby" Lemuel Hatton, 70, of Colonial Heights, died Sunday, November 11, 2001. He was a native of Alexandria and the son of the late James B. and Fannie Able Hatton. He was a retired employee for Allied Chemical and the Crater Health Dept. He is survived by his wife, Connie L. Hatton; a son, Vernon "Bookie" L. Hatton and his wife, Mary Kay of Colonial Heights; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia Hatton Ellis and Harrell of Stony Creek, Debbie Perkinson of Matoaca, and Carole Gwaltney of Dinwiddie; three brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Lois, Lawrence and Edna of Chester, and Tommy and June of Dinwiddie; a sister, Margaret Everson of Port Huron, Mich.; three stepsons and a daughter-in-law, John, Charles and Hugh and his wife, Teresa; two stepdaughters, Kim and husband, John and Wendy; seven grandchildren, Brent, Cory, Justin, Chad, Jeremy, Aaron and Jan Marie; five step-grandchildren, Hugh, Chris, Kaitlyn, Harley and Bryn; and nieces and nephews. Bobby was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He was an honorary member of Blandford Lodge #3 and Petersburg Lodge #15, AF&AM, and served for many years as Steward for both lodges, Scottish Rite, ACCA Temple of Richmond, Va., Past President of the ACCA Oriental Band, and Adjutant ACCA Mini-Patrol. Bobby coordinated with obtaining actors Chevy Chase, Steve Martin and Paul Simon for past Richmond Parades. He was Past President for the Petersburg Shrine Club and was a member of the Harmony Court #11 Order of the Amaranth. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home. Interment will follow in East Matoaca Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Masonic Rites conducted at 7:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wesley U.M.C. or ACCA Temple.

Mrs. Elizabeth McLeod Kendall, 85, of Richmond, died Sunday, November 11, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Julian Crenshaw Kendall, and was a retired employee of The National Bank of Fredericksburg. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and William Allen, Richmond; grandchildren, Randy and Lynn Allen of Orange County, Calif., Barry and Joann Allen and Holly and Sonny Breedlove, all of Richmond; four great-grandchildren, Ben Kendall and Lauren Allen, Orange County, Calif., and Paul Breedlove, Richmond; sisters, Louise Heavey and Ellen Anderson; brothers, James and Charles McLeod; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 12, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Charles R. Leake Sr., 62, of Sandston, Va., passed away Sunday, November 11, 2001. He was a veteran of the Air Force and was retired from Local #10, Plumbers and Steamfitters. He is survived by his son, Charles R. Leake Jr. of Glen Allen; his daughter, Dawn L. Kirby of Sandston; two sisters, Vondell Turlington of Williamsburg, and Ann Casper of Woodbridge, Va.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia. Time to be announced.

LIPSCOMB
Cynthia Annette (Cindy) Lipscomb, age 40, of Midlothian, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2001. She is survived by her mother and father, Thelma and Cabell Lipscomb; a brother, Cabell Lipscomb III; an aunt and uncle, Ellen and Carlyle Moore; and a devoted friend, Susan Moore. Cindy was a senior assistant manager of Burger King, across from Chesterfield Town Center and was loved by everyone. In her teen years, she played in the Chesterfield MSA fast pitch league and was crowned as MSA of Virginia. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruther Glen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MCV Massey Cancer Center.
