LUCAS
Frances Steele Lucas of Williamsburg, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2001. Born in Cherry Tree, West Virginia, she was raised and educated in Logan Co., West Virginia, where she was an outstanding high school basketball player. She was a Williamsburg resident for the last 42 years and served many volunteer hours with Walsingham Academy. She retired as supervisor of catalog sales at Sears-Roebuck, Williamsburg. Mrs. Lucas was also a life member and chaplain of the Peninsula Branch Ladies Auxiliary #172, Fleet Reserve Association. Mrs. Lucas enjoyed sports, gardening and reading. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, C.G.M. Ret. Kenneth W. Lucas; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Kenneth W. Jr. and Ellen M. Lucas, Richmond, Va.; daughter, Jeanie Lucas, Williamsburg, Va.; grandchildren, Kenny W. Lucas III and wife, Becky, Arlington, Va., Ashley E. Lucas, Richmond, Va., and Michael E. Lucas, Richmond, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2001, at 2 p.m. from Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg, with burial following in Williamsburg Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Walsingham Academy or York Co. Rescue Squad-Bruton Division.

LUGAR
Lawrence E. Lugar, 69, of Richmond, died Friday, November 9, 2001. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Lugar, Carula Williams, and Ethel Paxton; and three brothers, Elwood, Burnette, and Odell Lugar. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Lugar; two daughters, Debra L. Rea and husband, Earl, and Donna Lugar and fiance, Scott Lucy; five stepchildren, Donnie Burton, Brenda Mittelstadter, Wanda Hodges, Teresa Kellison and husband, Allen, and Robert Burton Jr.; two grandchildren, Lena Lugar and Justin Lucy; eight step grandchildren, Christina, James, Ashley, Michelle, Hunter, Jonathan, Marcus, and Shawn; three brothers, Kenneth W. of Salem, Robert D. of Forest, and William L. Lugar of Richmond; and loving nephew, Paul David “Peanut” Lugar, and other nieces, nephews, and cousins. His remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday (today), Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Mr. Lugar was an Army veteran with nine years of service, including service in the Korean War. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Caroline Community Church, 112 John Paul Jones Dr., Ruther Glen, Va. 22546.

MARTIN
Charles Otis Martin died suddenly at his home in Mechanicsville, Va. on Saturday, November 10, 2001. Born July 31, 1917 in Nelson County, Va. to the late James Otis and Fannie Wood Martin, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Elva Martin Ancarrow. Surviving are his wife, Janet Watts Martin; daughter, Linda Martin Sowers; and four grandchildren, Kenneth M. Ancarrow of Doe Hill, Va., Charles E. Sowers of Richmond, La Donna Smith of Virginia Beach, Martin L. Sowers of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Martin was a retiree from Virginia Tractor. His remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Graveside services will be held 12 p.m. Tuesday at Adial Baptist Church, Faber, Va., where he was a lifelong member. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Adial Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Mrs. Frank Wood, 724 Rocky Road, Lovingston, Va 22949.

McMILLIAN
Mrs. Fannie K. McMillian of 2706 Clifton Ave., died November 8, 2001. Surviving are her husband, Henry L. McMillian; two daughters, Joanne M. Jones of Brandywine, Md. and Gloria M. Kimball of Mechanicsville, Va.; two sons, Donald and Kitt McMillian of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Daisy Bradley of Sharon, Pa. and Eleanor Brodie of Rockville, N.Y.; one brother, Ernest Kitt Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where the family will receive friends Tuesday, from 11 to 11:45 a.m., and where funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Rev. R. McMINN
Jacqueline Faye McMinn (1943-2001) our loving wife, daughter, mother and sister has gone home to be with our Lord. Jackie Moody McMinn has gone to her heavenly home after a long battle with cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband, Wayne McMinn; and treasured parents, Garland and Mary Moody; daughter, Jo Carroll Fields and her husband, Dale; son, Brian Dean and his wife, Sharon; son, Richard McMinn and his wife, Lynn; grandchildren, Lauren, Bobbie Sue, Shelly and Billy; along with four great-grandchildren and others on the way. Jackie loved her two sisters, Brenda Moody Hart and Rhonda Moody Long; as well as her three brothers, Garland Moody Jr. (Cooky), Gary Steve Moody Sr. and Robert Michael Moody; her grandmother, Lelia Westmoreland. Along with her loving family, she leaves cherished friends, Terry Fields, Tom and Faye Ricola, as well as all of those she worshiped with at Red Lane Church in Powhatan and Pine Grove Church in Dinwiddie. A visitation will be held at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Chester, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Pine Grove Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 14, at 2 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Southlawn Memorial Park. Jackie requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the building fund at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 7204 Boydton Plank Rd., Petersburg, Va. 23803.

PEARSALL
Lucy Sanford Mercer Pearsall, age 84, of Gloucester, died on Saturday, November 10, 2001. Mrs. Pearsall was the widow of Robert H. Mercer and James F. Pearsall. Surviving are a son, Robert H. Mercer Jr. and his wife, Dorothy; three grandsons, Robert, Michael and Jeff; and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary McClanahan of Newport News and Edna S. Douglas of Kinsale and Tappahannock. Mrs. Pearsall was preceded in death by brothers, William H., J. Kenneth and Calvin G. Sanford; and a sister, Anne S. Carter. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, at Yeocomico Episcopal Church Cemetery. PERKINS
Henry N. Perkins, 86, of Mechanicsville, a devoted husband and loving father, died Saturday, November 10, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Anne E. Perkins; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy P. Blake of Mechanicsville and Mrs. Janice P. Anderson of Richmond; two grandchildren, Mrs. Carole B. Wagner of Charlotte, N.C. and Mr. Michael L. Long of Richmond; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Perkins was a veteran of WWII. He owned and operated the G & P Grocery Store in Church Hill prior to going to work for Richmond Dairy. Mr. Perkins retired from Curles Neck Dairy. The family will receive friends Monday, November 12, at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where funeral services will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m. Interment Church of Our Savior, Montpelier, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to Holly Ridge-Lakeside Christian Church in Mechanicsville.

SAVAGE
A. Richard "Dick" Savage Sr., 75, of Powhatan, went to be with our Lord Saturday, November 10, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Ruth T. Savage; daughter, Deborah S. Williamson and her husband, Steve; son, Alvin Richard Savage Jr. of Detroit, Mich.; sister, Jean S. Chitwood of Gainesville, Ga.; brothers, Cecil Savage of Geneva, Ala., and Phillip Savage of Gainesville, Ga.; and a granddaughter, Sierra Savage. Mr. Savage was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving our country during WWII. He was vice president of the former Barker Construction Co. His family will receive friends Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Road (Rt. 10). Funeral service for Mr. Savage will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Branch's Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Branch's Baptist Church, Building and Grounds Fund, 3400 Broad Rock Blvd., Richmond, Va. 23234.

SEIWELL
Gladys Massei Seiwell, 90, died Saturday, November 10, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; and her son, Toby. She is survived by her daughter, Anne McCabe of Warrenton, Va.; four grandchildren, Kassandra Seiwell of Portland, Maine, Kevin McCabe of Catharpin, Va., Teresa McCabe of Winchester, Va. and Kathleen McCabe of New York, N.Y.; and four great grandchildren, Daniel, Shaun and Joseph McCabe and Tre McCabe-White. Mrs. Seiwell was a former teacher in Richmond Public Schools and the Campus School at Longwood College. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2001, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association or to St. Paul's Catholic Church in Richmond, Va.

SMITH
Peggy Joyce Smith, 71, of Sandston, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Melton L. Smith Jr.; her daughter, Karen G. Spain; her brother, William E. Kaufelt Jr.; and her sister, Betty Miller of West Palm Beach, Fla. Mrs. Smith was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Washington Memorial Park.

STOCKMANN
Sadie S. Stockmann, age 103, of Cartersville, Va., died November 10, 2001. She is survived by her sister, Thelma Killinger; five nephews and one niece. Remains rest at the Norman Funeral Home, Goochland, Va., where the family will receive friends Monday, 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Glentivar, Sutton Family Cemetery, Cartersville, Va.

STRICKLAND
William H. "Hugh" Strickland Jr., 69, of Midlothian, widower of Juanita B. Strickland, joined his wife in heaven November 10, 2001. He was a retired engineer from Virginia Power. He is survived by his daughters, Della S. Nobles of Montpelier, and Rebecca S. Millner of Chesapeake; son, W. Hugh Strickland III of Midlothian; grandsons, Hunter Nobles, Gregory Millner Jr. and David Strickland; granddaughters, Lauren Strickland and Kelsie Millner; sister, Janice S. Green of Norfolk; and his mother-in-law, Katherine L. Beamon of Midlothian. Mr. Strickland was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity.

TYREE
Nettie A. Tyree, 87, formerly of Sandston, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2001. She was the widow of W. Waddy Tyree, and is survived by her niece, Virginia M. Atkinson; and members of the Earl Call family; and devoted friends. Mrs. Tyree was a lifelong member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church, and retired from the Virginia State Dept. of Taxation after 20 years of service. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, at Signal Hill Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Broadus Memorial Baptist Church, 3700 Goodell Rd., Richmond, Va. 23223.

WALLER
Departed this life November 11, 2001 in Washington, D.C., Odell Waller, formerly of Beaverdam, Va. Remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland. McCarthy, Director.

WILLIAMS
Louis G. Williams of Chesterfield, died November 11, 2001. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Williams; four stepsons, Harry, Robert, James and William Hall; two daughters, Marie Hurt and Marion Donithan; three stepdaughters, Joyce Kellison, Carol Earley and Lucille Jones; a sister, Shirley Woodson; a brother, Lester Williams. His remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. AMSDEN
Judith R. Amsden, age 55, of Richmond, died Sunday, October 28, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Robert K. Amsden; her mother, Frances B. Beddow of Richmond; and a host of relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Diabetes. Foundation.
