POWELL
Collie Alton Powell Sr., 71, of Powhatan, died August 6, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Virgie L. Powell; three sons, Collie Alton Powell Jr. of Chesterfield, Michael Dale Powell of Halifax, Timothy Wayne Powell of North Carolina; two sisters, Ruby Martin of Keysville, Mary Lee Lloyd of Drakes Branch; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan. Graveside services will be held Friday 2 p.m. in the Powhatan Community Cemetery.

SCHULTE
Allan L. Schulte, 61, of Richmond, died Wednesday, August 7, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Marion Josey Schulte; daughter, Trudy Byrne and her husband, Patrick; son, Michael Schulte and his wife, Terri; mother, Dorothy Linke; sister, Donna Specht; and six grandchildren. Mr. Schulte was a graduate of Bowling Green University in Ohio, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, after which he taught music in Shady Side, Ohio and in Texas City, Texas. For the last 30 years Mr. Schulte was a corporate pilot, most recently with Dominion Resources, and served as their Aviation Manager. He was a devoted member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and thoroughly enjoyed his roles as elder, teacher, choir member, soloist and instrumentalist. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today) at Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Interment 4 p.m. Saturday in Baptist Cemetery, Scotland Neck, N.C. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the 150th Anniversary Fund at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

SIBLEY
Katherine Wright Sibley, 79, of Mechanicsville, died Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at a local hospital. She was the widow of Francis Gilbert Sibley; and was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Sibley Hudson. She is survived by her daughter, Dale Sibley Theakston and her husband, Harold Eugene Theakston; grandsons, David Paul Setchel and his wife, Melinda Baker Setchel of Franklin, Va., Douglas Alan Setchel and his wife, Lisa Ann Setchel of Richmond, Michael Jackson Hudson and his wife, Maria Cupples Hudson of Alexandria; granddaughter, Amy Katherine Hudson of Blacksburg; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday. Interment Riverview Cemetery.

Mrs. Dare Love Slaughter, 85, of Kenbridge, Va., widow of James Herbert Slaughter, died August 7, 2002. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nelda and Randy Hoye of Kenbridge; two grandchildren, Chris Hoye of Kenbridge and Kerri Hoye of Buies Creek, N.C. She was a homemaker and a member of the Kenbridge Christian Church. The family will receive friends at all times at the home of Randy and Nelda Hoye, 10317 Craig Mill Road, Kenbridge. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, August 9, in the Kenbridge Heights Cemetery. Miss Olivia S. Taylor went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2002. She leaves to cherish her memory four sisters, Mrs. Bessie T. Lewis, Mrs. Otelia T. Martin, Mrs. Viola L. Jackson and one devoted sister, Mrs. Virginia Johnson; one niece, Viola E. Taylor; seven nephews, a host of other relatives and friends. Donald J. Teas, "The Best Cabinet Maker Around," 63, of New Kent, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 39½ years, June W. Teas; daughter, Brenda Keck; son, Donald J. Teas Jr. of New Kent; daughter, Linda Kiser of South Carolina; two granddaughters, Chelcee and Jennifer; a sister, Mary Ellen Schoeffer of Georgia; other devoted family and friends. Kathleen C. Thaxton, 88, of Mechanicsville, died Tuesday, August 6, 2002. She was the widow of John E. Thaxton Sr. and was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and Robert Walton and Elizabeth and Harry Ball. She is survived by her three sons, John E. Jr. and his wife, Jean, Norman A., and R.C. and his wife, Claudia; four sisters, Claudia Rhodes, Hilda Giannotti, Lucy Hughes and Barbara Dufour; four grandchildren, Gary Thaxton and his wife, Zina, Diana Faison, Linda Ayers and her husband, Roger, and Sheri Thaxton; and three great-grandchildren, Danielle and Scott Faison and Breanna Ayers. Kathleen was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for many years and was currently a member of Walnot Grove Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday. WILSON
Mary "Elizabeth" McSherry Wilson, 83, formerly of Newport News, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2002. She retired from the Newport News Shipyard in 1982. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Wilson. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Beth Askew and her husband, Jim of Richmond and Donna Wilson Trahan and her husband, Maurice of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday, August 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Va. A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in Peninsula Memorial Park, with Deacon Bernie Coffin officiating.

WRIGHT
Hazel Lawson Wright, 66, of Freeman, Va., passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late James Lawson and Sarah Lawson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Otis and Burnis Lawson. She is survived by one son, Bruce Wright of Rockhill, S.C.; a brother, Charles Lawson and wife, Patsy of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Hazel was a retired production superintendent for the State of Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 9, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morris & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be in Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 8 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Parrish of Tappahannock; her ten grandchildren, Amanda Sue Cottrell and William D. Parrish Jr. of Richmond, Kathryn P. Parker and Mary Alice Passagaluppi of Tappahannock, Stephen Brooking, Thomas A. Brooking, Charles Brooking, Page B. Joyner and Bonnie B. Brooking, all of Richmond, Shannon B. Clara T. Callis, 91, of Lancaster, widow of Thomas E. Callis, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001. She is survived by three children, Frank Callis, Joeanne C. Reynolds and Dorothy C. Hughes, all of Lancaster; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes T. Dunaway and Virginia T. Pittman, both of Lancaster. Remains rest at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 2, at 2 p.m. with interment in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
