DANIELS
Frederick Oliver Daniels Jr., 70, of Beaufont Towers, Richmond, died Friday, August 30, 2002 at his residence. He was born in Petersburg and was a resident of this area for most of his life. Mr. Daniels served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a retired pulp mill supervisor with Stone Container. He was the son of the late Frederick Oliver and Gladys Harrell Daniels. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Britt Daniels of Richmond; a daughter, Debbie D. Ownby of Chesterfield; three sons, Frederick O. Daniels III of Chester, Rudy L. Daniels of Chesterfield and Tim L. Daniels of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Glenda F. Douglas of Hopewell. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Doug S. Echols, pastor of Enon Baptist Church and Rev. James Davis, pastor of St. Beulah Church, Richmond, officiating. Interment will be in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chesterfield County. Memorial contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice, 8580 Magellan Pkwy., Richmond, Va. 23227.

GILLIKIN
Mary Chenault Gillikin, 87, of Charlottesville, died Friday, August 30, 2002. She was born September 5, 1914 at "Contentment" in King William County. Her parents were William Thomas Chenault and Ada Mitchell Chenault. She attended Blackstone College and was graduated from Farmville State Teachers College (now Longwood College) with a B.S. in Chemistry and Home Economics. She taught high school for many years in North Carolina and Virginia. She retired from Blue Ridge Sanatorium in 1981, where she worked as a pharmacist's assistant and patients' account clerk. She had many friends at her retirement home at The Charlotteville Towers, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to other residents. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, and the Queen Esther Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gillikin; and her brother, Robert Thomas Chenault. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William B. and Linda C. Gillikin of Colonial Heights; a loving granddaughter, Kathleen and her husband, Patrick MacCubbin of Baltimore, Md.; and two caring nieces, Lucie Anne Chenault and Blanche Watts of Lynchburg and their families. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 2 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hill & Wood Funeral Home, Charlottesville. Services will be held at the Hill & Wood Chapel at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 2, with the Rev. Don Carlton officiating. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 3. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 101 E. Jefferson St., Charlottesville, Va. 22902.

GODSEY
Catherine T. Godsey, 80, of Hanover, died August 31, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon E. Godsey; son, Julian Clifton Godsey Jr.; nephew, Philip H. Williams and wife, Barbara J.; three grandchildren, Rachel Matthews, Christopher Godsey, and Angela Fuller and husband, Jody; sister, Emma Fox; sister-in-law, Louise G. Dement; brothers-in-law, Wilson D. Godsey and Nick Doumlele; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Fairmount United Methodist Church. Remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., where family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, and where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2002. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Richmond Chapter, 7124 Forest Hill Ave., Richmond, Va. 23225.

HERBERT
Marianne Herbert, age 52, of Warsaw, died after a brief illness on Saturday, August 31, 2002. Marianne was predeceased by her brother, Tommy. She is survived by her parents, Tom and Dot Herbert; her devoted brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Kathy Herbert. Also surviving are nephews, Tommy and Chance Herbert; and niece, Ashley Herbert. There will be a visitation at the Welch-Marks Funeral Home, 10300 Richmond Road, Monday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3 at Warsaw United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richmond County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 55, Warsaw, Va. 22572 or the Warsaw U.M. Building Fund, c/o Sandra Pierson, 198 Memorial Drive, Warsaw, Va. 22572.

HUGHES
George W. Hughes Sr., age 85, of Mechanicsville, died Thursday, August 29, 2002. He is survived by four daughters and a son, Carolyn Thomas, Kathleen Gowen, Geraldine Budasoff, Patricia Runion, George W. Hughes Jr.; one sister, Doris King; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Duffey; and his parents, Elmer and Carrie Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a lifelong member of Gethsemane Church of Christ and was a veteran of WWII. Remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 2, 2002 at the Gethsemane Church of Christ, Mechanicsville. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

JETER
Grace Reynolds Jeter, 87, of Richmond, died August 29, 2002. She was the widow of Clarence (Pete) Jeter and is survived by her children, William Thomas Jeter and Suzanne Jeter Piland; loving grandmother of five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends Sunday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Monday, 11 a.m. Interment Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1101 Horsepen Rd., Richmond, Va. 23239.

JOHNSON
Mrs. Sisley L. Johnson of Charles City departed this ilfe August 31, 2002. Remains rest at J. Leroy Charity Funeral Home, Charles City. Funeral notice later.

LEWIS
Janet Patton Lewis, age 82, of Richmond, died on Thursday, August 29, 2002. She was the daughter of the late James D. Patton Jr. and Janet Jones Patton. Mrs. Lewis was a Richmond native and attended St. Catherine's School and Thomas Jefferson High School. She was the widow of philanthropist and businessman, Lawrence Lewis Jr. Mrs. Lewis was an active volunteer throughout the Richmond area. Mrs. Lewis' philanthropic efforts concerned children's organizations and education. She and Mr. Lewis established the Flagler Home at St. Joseph's Villa, the Child Development Center, which was renamed in her honor in 1995. She was a Board member at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Theatre IV and the Flagler Foundation. She was the Chairman of Historic Garden Week of the Garden Club of Virginia and the 1992 Richmond Christmas Mother. Mrs. Lewis was also a member of the Junior League of Richmond, the Colonial Dames of America, the Country Club of Virginia, and the Stitch and Bitch Club. She is survived by her three daughters, Louise Lewis Foster of High Point, N.C., Janet Lewis Sauer and Kenan Lewis White, both of Richmond; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. A private family burial will be held in Charles City. Memorials may be made to the Flagler Home at St. Joseph's Villa or the Massey Cancer Center.

MARTIN

QUENSEN
John Frederick (Fred) Quensen Jr., age 84, died Thursday, August 29, 2002. Mr. Quensen was a Retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army, a member of the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and a member of Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church for many years. Survivors include his wife, Flossie B. Quensen; two sons, John F. Quensen III of Haslet, Michigan and Paul Quensen of Centerville, Va.; two grandchildren, Ericka and Chad; one stepson, Bernard D. Glass of Leesburg, Va.; three stepdaughters, Shirley Jones of St. Lucy, Fla., Alice Sisson of Bowling Green, Va. and Carolyn Bauserman of Beaverdam, Va.; 10 stepgrandchildren, 14 stepgreat-grandchildren and one stepgreat-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2002 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St., where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2002. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park, with military honors provided by Memorial Rifles.

ROBINSON
Alton Lorenza Robinson was called home on August 28, 2002. He is survived by four nieces, Lucille Peatross, Gloria Tyler, Elaine and Charlene Robinson; three nephews, Emanuel Jr., Ernest Sr. and Charles Robinson; one great-niece, five great-nephews, one great-great-nephew; one sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Robinson; one uncle, Ozwell Robinson; a devoted friend, Mildred Chavis; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the F.E. Dabney Funeral Home, Henry St., Ashland, until 9 a.m. Monday then will rest at the Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland. Attending relatives and friends kindly assemble at the Reid Funeral Home Monday, 10:30 a.m. Interment in family cemetery. Please omit refreshments. The Dabneys' Morticians in charge of arrangements.

WAITE
Angela Lautz Waite, 94, widow of George Brodet Waite, died on August 23, 2002 in Alexandria, Va. Born in Louisville, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Emma Bossung Lautz and George J. Lautz. A retired Reynolds Metals Co. employee, Mrs. Waite lived in Richmond from 1958 until 1978. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Saunders Waite Maddux of Alexandria; granddaughters, Christina Maddux Hoover of Richmond and Angela Maddux Hammond, son-in-law, Charles Reif Hammond; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Waite Hammond and Oliver Byron Hammond of Durham, N.H. Interment will be private in Louisville, Ky.

WARE
William Reid Ware Sr., 88, of Bumpass, died Friday, August 30, 2002. He was a son of the late Liston Alphonso Ware and Loula Reid Garth Ware, a member and former elder of Bethany Christian Church and a member of the founding board of directors of Piedmont Christian School. He was a retired supervisor from the U.S. Postal Service. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Duke Ware; daughter, Martha W. Lonergan of Burnt Hills, N.Y.; sons, William R. Ware Jr. of Mechanicsville, Va., and David A. Ware of Charles City, Va.; brother, Franklin K. Ware of Mineral, Va.; three grandchildren, Richard Reid Lonergan, William Ware Lonergan, and Andrew Harrison Ware also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today (Sunday) at Bethany Christian Church, by the Rev. Wayne Anderson. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. today until service time. Interment will be in the family cemetery on Lucy Duke Lane, Bumpass, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethany Christian Church, Bumpass, Va., and Emmanuel School of Religion, Johnson City, Tenn. The Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa, Va., is in charge of arrangements.

WARREN
Mrs. Jacqua Lynne H. Warren, age 81, of 1017 Welton Ave., formerly of South Bound Brook, N.Y., went to be with the Lord Friday, August 30, 2002. Surviving are two daughters, Jawhan (Cookie) Warren and Wanda David; one son, Ernest Warren; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; one daughter-in-law, Donna Warren; two sisters-in-law; devoted friend, Louise Cosby; other relatives and friends. Remains will be forwarded to Anderson Funeral Service, 201 Sanford St., New Brunswick, N.J., for graveside services Thursday at Bound Brook Cemetery, Bound Brook, N.J. WEBB
Mr. William (Bill) P. Webb, 76,of Chesterfield County, died Thursday, August 29, 2002, after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mrs. Nora Bishop Bowman and Marshall R. Webb. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mrs. Ann B. Webb of Chesterfield County; two daughters, Mrs. Cheryl W. Arney and son-in-law, Mr. Tim Arney of Burke, Virginia, Ms. Tina Webb and friend of the family, Ms. Lissa Belongia of Chesterfield County; two grandsons, Mr. Ross Arney and Mr. Paul Arney of Burke, Virginia; sister-in-law, Mrs. Cecil B. Young of Richmond; and niece, Nan B. Sharp of Richmond; sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret B. Powell; and brother-in-law, Mr. Wesley Powell of Chester, Virginia; nephew, Mr. Don Michael Powell of Friendswood, Texas; and one brother, Mr. Marshall R. Webb Jr. of Colonial Heights, Virginia. Mr. Webb was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He served proudly in the armed forces in both the Navy during World War II and later in the Army during the Korean Conflict and received an honorable discharge from both branches. He served on the Colonial Heights School Board from 1968 to 1992, and was elected Chairman of the school board in 1972. Mr. Webb was the longest continuously serving board member in Colonial Heights. He worked for the State of Virginia Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services for 25 years and after the General Assembly voted to provide mental health services to localities throughout the state of Virginia, he was appointed Executive Director of District 19 and served there for 12 years. When he began his work with the state, there were only 12 mental health clinics in the state. During his tenure with the state, he opened 26 additional mental health clinics in the state of Virginia. He retired from state service in 1990. When he retired there were a total of 38 clinics across the state of Virginia. Mr. Webb will be remembered as a loving friend to Mr. Jack Fowlkes of Hilton Head, South Carolina and Mrs. Lynn Eades Foy of Colonial Heights, Virginia. "All his beauty, wit and grace lie forever in one place, he who sang and sprang and moved, now in death is only loved." Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

WHITE
Virginia P. White passed away August 30, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Mason White. She is survived by her son, Leslie J. White; her daughter, Toni W. Nix and her husband, Dale; two sisters, Margie Monell and June Callahan of Lynchburg, Va.; and two brothers, Edward Wilson of Baltimore, Md., and Pete Probst of Bethlehem, Pa. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 1, at Signal Hill Memorial Park. NELSEN FUNERAL HOME
