Gary V. Woods
Gary Vincent Woods, 34, of 1712 Spruce St., Apt. 1, Martinsville, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Arrangements will be announced by Collins Funeral Services.

Otha M. Harris
Otha M. Harris, 84, of Martinsville, died Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. Arrangements will be announced by McKee-Stone Funeral Services.

William H. Haley
William Hoyt Haley, 79, of 668 Anglin Mill Road, Stoneville, N.C., and formerly of 2363 Trent Hill Drive, Bassett, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
He was born in Stuart on Jan. 17, 1925, and was the son of the late Guy Bernice Haley and Nora Cassady Haley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Moran Haley.
After graduating from Stuart High School in 1943, he served in the Navy during World War II, attached to the USS Litchfield at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Bassett where he served as deacon and a choir member; was retired from National Homes where he worked for 36 years, and he was a member of Patrick Henry Amateur Radio Association.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Smith Haley of the home; his son, Robert W. Haley of Bassett; a stepson, Randal Smith of Stoneville; two grandsons; and two sisters, Charlene H. Lawson and Frances H. Simmons, both of Stuart.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Bassett with the Rev. Lew Bennett and the Rev. J.D. Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren Cemetery at Bassett.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Bassett. At other times the family will be either at the home at 668 Anglin Mill Road, Stoneville, or his long-time home at 2363 Trent Hill Drive, Bassett.
Memorials may be made to the AWANA program of First Baptist Church of Bassett, P.O. Box 557, Bassett, Va. 24055.
Collins Funeral Services in Bassett is in charge of arrangements.

Ronny R. Hauger
Ronny Russell Hauger, 70, of Martinsville, died Saturday, April 9, 2005.
Bassett Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Coy Simmons Jr.
Coy Leonard Simmons Jr., 46, of 611 Long Circle Drive, Cascade, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at the Danville Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Martinsville on Nov. 15, 1958, and was a son of Mabel B. Simmons of Axton and the late Claude L. Simmons.
He was employed by Triangle Electric and he was a member of Full Gospel Baptist Church in Axton.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Deborah D. Simmons of the home; a son, Coy Leonard Simmons III of Axton; four sisters, Evelyn Smith of Martinsville, Edna Taylor of Axton, Peggy Bray of Eden, N.C. and Donna Powell of Cascade; and two brothers, C. Kenneth Simmons and David L. Simmons, both of Axton.
The funeral will be held a 2 p.m. Saturday at Community Funeral Services Chapel in Ridgeway with the Rev. Don Reynolds and Brother Don Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the Compton-Simmons family cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Community Funeral Services and other times at the home.

Robert Thomas Sr.
EDEN, N.C. -- Robert Eugene Thomas Sr., 81, of Eden, died Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Morehead Nursing Center.
He was born in Rockingham County, to M. Carl Thomas and Rosie Thomas. In addition to the parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Nowlin Thomas; a brother, Carl Thomas; and a sister, Demore Whitt.
He retired from the bedding division of Fieldcrest Mills and he was a member of Riverview Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a son, Robert "Bud" Thomas Jr. of Axton; one grandson; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Overlook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Fair Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. today, and other times at the home of his son at 3731 Irisburg Road, Axton.

Lewis H. Waller
Lewis Hampton Waller, 67, of Ridgeway, died April 11, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
He was born in Stokes County, N.C., and was a son of the late James Waller and Lula Webster Waller.
Surviving are two sons, Rev. Lewis Waller of Martinsville and Bruce D. Waller of Keizer, Oregon; seven daughters, Lisa Grey and Lorrie Stokes, both of Martinsville, Karen Wooten and Sandra Hairston, both of Ridgeway, Tracey Cousins and Kena L. Dillard, both of Eden, N.C. and Capt. April Cunningham of Belleville, Ill.; a brother, James A. Waller of Ridgeway; a sister, Vergie Gallaway of Ridgeway; and a number of grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Monument of Faith Ministries in Eden. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Ridgeway.
The family will receive friends at Faith Ministries from 2:30 p.m. until time for the service Saturday.
Perry-Spencer Funeral Home in Eden is in charge of arrangements.

Louis A. Carter Sr.
The funeral for Louis Alvin Carter Sr., 56, of Cascade, who died June 16, 2005, was held Monday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Cascade. The Rev. Dr. John Tinsley officiated. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Roosevelt Morrison, Kenneth Wilson, Howard Hairston, Lamont Callaway, Earl Waller, Jesse Adams, Archie P. Hairston and Alphonso Wilkerson.
Hairston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Sallie H. Craig
The funeral for Sallie Lou Harris Craig, 86, of Bassett, who died June 18, 2005, was held Monday at the Collinsville Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Rev. Sammy Caldwell officiated. Burial was in Goodwill Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Gregory, Ivory Weaver, Junior Weaver, Travis Weaver, Mike Oaks and Frank Newman.
Bassett Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Jermaine D. Cox-Ingram
Jermaine Deshon Cox-Ingram, 18, of 271 Chestnut Oak Drive, Bassett, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Hines Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Hobert C. Lawless
Hobert Colonel Lawless, 83, of Martinsville, did Sunday, June 19, 2005, at the Tender Years Adult Care in Figsboro.
He was born on Jan. 10, 1922, in McDowell County, W.Va., to Jesse Peter Lawless and Mary Dodson Lawless.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former spouse, Doris M. Crouch Lawless; a daughter, Joan Carol Lawless; brothers, Mack Lawless, Ted Lawless and Mike Lawless; and a sister, Blanche Walker.
He was an electrician and a retired coal miner. He was a member of Family Worship Center on Preston Road.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille Cox Lawless of the home; three sons, Fred Lawless of Tazewell, Michael E. Lawless of Martinsville and Phillip R. Lawless of Maryland; a daughter, Brenda L. Smith of Martinsville; a stepdaughter, Becky Jo Hardie of Ridgeway; a brother, James Lawless of Boone's Mill; two sisters, Gladys Simmons of Roanoke and Nora Fizer of Fredericksburg; 10 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Bassett Funeral Services chapel with the Rev. Jack Foley officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Christian Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to Horsepasture Rescue Squad PO Box 34, Spencer, Va. 24165.
