HUGGINS
E. G. (Huggy) Huggins, 75, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2001. He was born on November 22, 1925 in Buckingham County, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Josephine Cash Huggins. He is survived by two devoted sons, Stephen Craig Huggins and his wife, Barbara, and Ronald Brent Huggins and his wife, Sally; three grandchildren, Tracy, Brent and Jared, all of Texas; his loving and caring companion, Dolores McCann of Lottsburg, Virginia; and by countless friends. Huggy proudly served in the United States Navy beginning in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1955 with various awarded medals. He most recently owned Huggins Honda and Huggins Mitsubishi in North Richland Hills, Texas. During his tenure in the automobile business, he also owned and operated new car franchises for Acura, Chevrolet, Ford, Hyundai, Jeep, Mac and Nissan. Huggy was a member of the New Car Dealers Association of Tarrant County, Texas, the National Automobile Dealers Association and the Presidents Club of DEAC. He was also involved in various businesses with his partner and lifelong friend, Max Pearson. Huggy's involvement included, but was certainly not limited to, Christ's Haven for Children, the DARE Program, P&H Racing, Ducks Unlimited, Warsaw Buy Rite, Richmond Roadrunners Football, and the WRNL Shoe Foundation. Huggy was a member of the Henrico Masonic Lodge #130. In 1948, he was revised to the Sublime degree of a Master Mason and eventually became a 50-year Masonic Veteran. He was also a Scottish Rite Mason in the Valley of Richmond and a Noble of the ACCA Temple. From Blue Lodge to Shrine, Huggy was proud he was a member. Huggy, who never met a stranger, will be missed by all who had the good fortune to share his smile and positive attitude. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 30, at 2 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the National Cancer Research Fund, 133 E. 58th Street, New York, New York 10022.

JAMES
Shirley Lowry James of Mechanicsville, formerly of Richmond, passed away Monday, May 28, 2001 on her 71st birthday. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Burton Lowry and her father, Marcellus Carter Lowry Jr. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Herbert L. James; her children Herbert L. James Jr. and his wife, Charlotte, Stuart L. James and his wife, Sharon, Evelyn R. Tolbert, Roger Lee James and his wife, Connie, and Anne J. Cook and her husband, Tony; her sister, June L. Yates and her husband, Leroy; her brother, Marcellus C. Lowry III and his wife, Doris; her grandchildren, Sarah, Amanda, and Jaclyn Tolbert, Jamie, Heather, Lee, Reed, Caroline, Laura and Angela James, and Cloe Cook. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society.

JOHNSON
Departed this life May 25, 2001, Mrs. Mamie T. Johnson of 2303 Maplewood Ave. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Johnson. She is survived by three daughters, LaVern J. Harris, Rosie Eleazer and Donnie J. Fountain; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, cousins; one son-in-law, Arnold Eleazer; one sister-in-law, Margie Taylor; and other relatives and friends, among them devoted, Virgie Ferguson and James Gattison. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday. Rev. Bruce Jones officiating. Interment Riverview Cemetery. JONES
H. Jennings Jones Jr., 72, died May 24, 2001. He is survived by his daughters, Lois Haines and husband, John, Anne Smith and husband, Bill, and Amy Jones; grandchildren, William and Katie Woolridge and Adam Smith; siblings, Howard Jones, Kathryn Babb and Ruth Eleazer, all of South Carolina. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2001 at Hanover Avenue Christian Church. Memorials may be made to Craig Springs Camp and Conference Grounds, Rt. 2, P.O. KENNY
Robert Henry "Tony" Kenny, of Henrico, received his robe and crown and reward of eternal rest on Sunday, May 27, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Woody Kenny. Cherishing his memory are his one adopted son, Rodney H. Kenny; one sister, Mrs. Lillian K. Whitmore of Suitland, Md.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Kenny; a host of nieces and nephews, devoted Lajune Patterson and Celestine Smith and her husband, Lawrence V. Smith; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 6 to 7 p.m. in the All Faiths Chapel of the A.D. Price Funeral Establishment, 212 E. Leigh Street. His remains will lie in state Thursday, 12 noon at the First Union Baptist Church, 3510 Dill Rd., where a eulogistic service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Rev. Lawrence B. Smith officiating. KERR
Bernard Eugene Kerr Jr., 64, of Sandston, died Sunday, May 27, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Fisher Kerr; one daughter, Michelle K. and her husband, Jim Bonner Jr. of Quinton; one granddaughter, Kathryn E. Bonner; sister Jean and her husband, Harold Reynolds of Sandston; three nephews, Mark, Stephen and Rick Reynolds. Mr. Kerr was a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard and a retired tax accountant and member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends Thursday, 6 to 9 p.m., and where funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday. Interment Four Mile Creek Church Cemetery.

LAWSON
Robert W. Lawson Jr., 92, of Charleston, W.Va., died on May 28, 2001. Born in South Boston, Va., he attended Halifax County schools and was a 1930 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma and Omicron Delta Kappa, a letterman on the varsity football, basketball and baseball teams, and a recipient of The Gammon Cup for excellence in character, academics and athletics. His record of four pass interceptions in one football game remains unbroken. He was a member of the Hampden-Sydney Sports Hall of Fame, as well as the Halifax County Sports Hall of Fame. From 1930 to 1932, Lawson taught and coached at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va. In 1935, he graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi and the Raven Society and was an assistant varsity football coach. He later served as a member of the Law School Alumni Council. He joined the law firm of Steptoe and Johnson in Charleston in 1935, was a partner from 1941 to 1962, senior partner from 1962 to 1984, and was of counsel to the firm from 1984 to 1990. During World War II, he served as a lieutenant commander in the United States Navy, and was involved in organizing a Naval Reserve Unit in Charleston after the war. He was a member of the Kanawha County Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar, the West Virginia Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the American Law Institute. In addition, he belonged to the American Judicature Society and served on its Board of Directors, was a fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a member of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Judicial Conference, and a member of the United States Supreme Court Historical Society. Lawson was elected to the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association in 1975; and served on the Board of Governors from 1984 to 1986. For many years, he was on the Vestry of St. John's Episcopal Church, Charleston, and served as senior warden. He was also chancellor of the Protestant Episcopal Diocese of West Virginia from 1956 to 1977. He was a former trustee of Episcopal High School and Hampden-Sydney College, and a former director of the Greater Charleston Chamber of Commerce. He was a charter member and former president of the American Business Club in Charleston. Lawson was a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond from 1967 to 1975, and served as chairman of its Board from 1972 to 1975. He belonged to the Charleston Rotary Club, Edgewood Country Club, and Wytheville, Virginia Golf Club. An avid reader, golfer, traveler and sports enthusiast, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, the former Virginia Peyton Broun. Surviving him are sons, Robert W. Lawson III of Charleston, Fontaine Broun Lawson and Lewis Peyton Lawson of Richmond, Va.; daughters-in-law, Priscilla Plumb Lawson, Sally Watters Lawson and Mary-Gill Brooks Lawson; eight grandchildren; sister, Mary Elizabeth Lawson Creath of Church Road, Va.; and brother, Lewis D. Johnston Jr. of South Boston, Va. Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at St. John's Episcopal Church, Charleston. Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LEWIS
Richard A. Lewis, formerly of Charles City, Va., departed this life Friday, May 25, 2001. He is survived by six children, Richard Jr., Alphonzo, Latonya, Gladys, Joseph and Leon Lewis; 12 grandchildren; four sisters, Helen A. Bradby, Daisy L. Allen, Ardelia A. and Marva H. Lewis; two brothers, Joseph and Alfred M. Lewis; two sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts., where funeral services will be held Thursday, May 31, 12 noon, Rev. Hugo Bradby officiating. Interment in the family Cemetery, Charles City, Va. Relatives and friends attending funeral services, assemble at the funeral home Thursday, 11:30 a.m.

LOVING
Annie Robinson Loving, 79, of Mechanicsville, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson W. Loving. She is survived by her daughter, Diana Lynn Loving; one brother, Joseph H. Robinson. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Signal Hill Memorial Park.

MARTIN
Donna Lowry Martin passed on from this life on May 28, 2001, after a long struggle with cancer. Donna, from Richmond, Va., is survived by her loving children, Ashley, age 9, Christopher, age 12; her husband, Tony; and her sister, Catherine Reaney. Services to be conducted on Saturday, June 2, 2001, at the family's church, Discovery United Methodist, 13000 Gayton Rd. Stuart Desmond Martin, 77, of Richmond, passed away May 26, 2001. Survived by Sue H. James; preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Joyce Jones Martin; and brother, John Wesley Martin. Survived by his children, Stuart D. Martin Jr., Helen Virginia DeFord, Allison Marie Gasser and Joyce Lyle Martin; a brother, Hillsman E. Wallace; and four grandchildren. MEHARG
Mrs. Eugenia Bryant Meharg, resident of Westminster-Canterbury, Richmond, since 1982, the widow of Hugh Barclay Meharg, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2001. Born July 21, 1912, the daughter of the late George Linwood and Elsie Rowe Bryant of Courtland, Southampton County, she is survived by her sisters, Eleanor B. and her husband, John T. Faircloth Jr. of Ivor and Alice Lee B. Vick of Newsoms; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, George Leroy Bryant Sr. of Courtland in 1985. Mrs. Meharg was a graduate of Courtland High School in 1929 and Richmond Business College, Inc. in 1931. She was employed as a secretary to Southern States Cooperative, receiving the Cooperative Award Emblem for 25 years of service, the Virginia Trust Co., and the Virginia General Assembly until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church at Brook Hill, 1214 Wilmer Ave., Richmond and was a former member of Blanche Spencer Chapter No. 11, O.E.S. A service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at the graveside in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. The Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., is handling arrangements.

MYERS
A. Wade Myers Jr., 84, of Glen Allen, Virginia, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Thelma Lee Coleman Myers; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Charles Hudson; sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Tina Myers and Richard (Dick) and Debbie Myers; and six grandchildren, Christy Lynn Hudson and Carrie, Melissa, Chris, Tonya and Daniel Myers. He is also survived by a brother, Luther P. Myers of Smithfield, Va. and a special friend, Eva Norman of Virginia Beach and her family. He was a member of Glen Allen Baptist Church and was past master and treasurer emeritus of Glen Allen Masonic Lodge #131 AF&AM. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Acca Temple Shrine and the Glen Allen Shrine Club. He retired as the Regional Credit Manager of Lone Star Industries in 1978 after 40 years with the company. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a Masonic Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m., and where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday. Interment at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glen Allen Baptist Church Building Fund, 3028 Mountain Rd., Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
