EVANS
Robert L. Evans, Jr., age 69, of Amelia died on August 3, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Irma Sue; sons, Ricky of Richmond and Phillip; daughters, Linda Lunsford, Gloria Parrish all of Amelia, and Kathy Rose of Richmond; sister, Bertha Duram of North Carolina, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Mr. Evans was a member of Teamsters Local 592 and had worked for A&P and B&P Trucking. Funeral services Monday 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 9605 Wayside Ave. in Amelia with burial in Mattoax Cemetery. Visiting at the church 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. FANO
Helmut Mark Fano, 37, died suddenly August 1, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Gayle Cutchin Fano; five children; parents, Arthur and Ingrid Fano; brother, Hans Fano; sisters, Eva Fano Ahladas and Elisabeth Fano; and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2001 at West End Assembly of God, 401 Parham Rd. Mark was a seven-year veteran of the County of Henrico Division of Police as well as an 18-year veteran of the United States Navy and Naval Reserves. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fano Children Education Fund, c/o Gayle Fano, RF&P Federal Credit Union, 4807 Hermitage Rd., Richmond, Va. 23227. The family is being served by Bliley's Funeral Home, Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd.

FRALEY
Mildred Cheshire Fraley died July 31, 2001 at Manor Care Imperial Nursing Home in Richmond, Va. She was born on July 29, 1905 to the late Nina Mae and Coleman Cheshire of Auburn, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Elliott and Howard Cheshire. She was a 1927 graduate of Alabama Polytechnic Institute (presently Auburn University) with a degree in secondary education. She taught English for several years in the Auburn area. Mrs. Fraley was the wife of the late Charles Irvin "Pete" Fraley. They made their home in Windsor Farms in Richmond, Va. Mrs. Fraley is survived by several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery in Auburn, Alabama on Sunday, August 5, 2001 at 12:30 p.m. with Dr. George Mathison officiating. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Central Virginia, 7231 Forest Ave., Suite 100, Richmond, Va. 23226. Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home of Opelika, Alabama is directing.

GASCOYNE
Daniel Ryan Gascoyne, age 26, died Thursday, August 2, 2001 after a two-year battle with lymphoma. He graduated from Huguenot Academy in Powhatan, Class of 1993, attended Radford University, was employed by Industrial Recycling Services of Canton, Ohio, and Trane Corporation of Richmond, Va. He was the beloved son of Daniel and Elizabeth Gascoyne, brother of Rise and Bill Gascoyne, grandson of Margaret Gascoyne and the late Josephine and Bill Muro. The family will receive friends 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Monday at Church of the Epiphany, 11000 Smoketree Dr. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park.

GILMAN
Linwood H. Gilman Jr., 78, passed away August 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Mary F. Gilman; two sons, L.H. Gilman III and Julian Dean Gilman of Richmond; a daughter, Mary G. Rowe of Annapolis, Md.; four grandchildren, Julian Dean Gilman, Jr., Justin S. Gilman, Bryan T. Rowe and Eric M. Rowe. Mr. Gilman retired from J. M. Fry after more than 30 years of service. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Memorial Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for the Patients Assistance Fund.

GLASCO
Irene Yates Glasco, 97, of Richmond, passed away Friday, August 3, 2001. She was the widow of Henry W. Glasco and was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia G. Posey; and her son, H. Howard Glasco. She is survived by her daughter, Louise G. King and her husband Irving; her son, H. Alvin (Bo) Glasco and his wife Frances; also a daughter-in-law, Mildred J. Glasco; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Glasco was a long-time member of Highland Park United Methodist Church. Her remains rest at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, also from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, and where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, August 6. Burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.

GREGORY
Evelyn Christison Gregory of Morristown, N.J., died Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at the Morristown Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. A graduate of St. Catherine's School and Sweet Briar College, she held a Master's degree from NYU. She is survived by her son, Clarke Gregory, of Stanhope, N.J.; mother, Muriel Christison, of Williamsburg; sister, Carolyn Lawson, of Savannah, Ga.; niece, Kirstin McCracken, of Savannah, Ga.; nephew, Trent Hodges, and his daughter, Sydney, of Richmond. Mrs. Gregory was born April 17, 1934, in St. Paul, Minn. During her marriage to John Gregory of Bedford, Va., she was a teacher in Cleveland, Ohio, and in Wellesley, Mass. In Morristown, she was a member of the Unitarian Fellowship. Memorial gifts may be made to the scholarship fund at St. Catherine's School or to the Music Department of Sweet Briar College. A memorial service is planned for the fall.

HAILEY
Oscar Cedric "Ced" Hailey Sr., 78, of South Boston died Thursday, August 2, 2001 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bennett Hailey; three sons, Mike Hailey of Halifax, Greg Hailey of South Boston, and O.C. Hailey, Jr., of Coleyville, Texas; a daughter, Elsie H. Fitzgerald of Rocky Mount, N.C.; a sister, Dora Lee Moore of Jacksonville, Fla.; three brothers, James Hailey of Jacksonville, Fla., Fred Hailey and Bob Hailey, both of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Hailey; a sister, Judy Bowers; and a brother, Pete Hailey. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6 at 2 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Alton Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday night from 7 until 8:30.

Horace "Jack" W. Henshaw Jr., age 60, of Highland Springs, Virginia, died Thursday, August 2, 2001. Survived by his wife, Jane B. Henshaw; his children, Kris A. Henshaw of Highland Springs and Valerie B. Henshaw of Sandston; three stepchildren, Glenn W. Gantt, J. Brain Gantt and Cheryl L. Kieft, all of Savannah, Georgia; his grandchildren, Krew Jackson Henshaw, Michael Purvis, Brittany Purvis and C.J. Kieft; his mother, Alma B. Henshaw of Highland Springs; his sister, Linda Henshaw of Short Pump, Virginia. Remains rest at Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Washington Memorial Park. Andrew Jackson "Jackie" Jennings Jr., age 61, of Locust Hill formerly of Goochland County, died Friday, August 3, 2001. He was an Army Veteran and was predeceased by his parents, Andrew Jackson and Lena W. Jennings; and a brother, Richard Jennings. Survived by his wife, Flora L. Jennings; two daughters, Misty and Heather Jennings of Culpeper; one son, Shawn Jennings of Orange; two sisters, Betty Hinkle of Shenandoah and Rebecca Williamson of Nakina, N.C.; one brother, Wayne Jennings of Richmond; and two grandchildren. Memorial services will be held later in Goochland County. Memorial gifts may be made to Rappahannock General Hospital, c/o Cancer Center, P.O. Box 1449, Kilmarnock, Va. 22482. KEANE
Lois Herz Keane, widow of Walter J. Keane, age 99, of Bon Air, died Friday, August 3, 2001. She was predeceased by her son, John, and is survived by her son, Daniel; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Lois was a retired teacher, author and avid volunteer. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Catherine's School or WCVE, Channel 23. Services will be private.

KENNEDY
Jeannine Farnsworth Kennedy, 71, of Midlothian, died August 2, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Monty C. Kennedy and daughter, Monica Lynn Hartsell. Survivors include three children, Deborah Conner, Monty Kennedy Jr., and Pamela Bryant; two sisters, Thelma Rowly and Ila Dahl; one brother, Steve Farnsworth; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment Dale Memorial Park.

KERSEY
Catherine Robinson (Girlie) Kersey departed this life August 1, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Stoney Kersey; two sons, Wesley and Stoney Kersey; one daughter, Karen Wilson; six grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Magnum, Helen Yancey, and Frances Williams; a host of nieces and nephews; two aunts, Iona Adkins, and one devoted, Florence Taylor; two uncles, Malachi Sr. and Leroy Adkins; two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, seven sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law; other devoted relatives and friends, among them two devoted friends, Margaret Winston and Teresa Talley. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 North 25th St., where the family will receive friends Saturday, 5 to 6 p.m. and where funeral services will be held Sunday, 2 p.m. Reverend Dimitri Bradley officiating. Burial St. Johns Baptist Church Cemetery, Charles City County.

McCARTHY
Alma Walker McCarthy, widow of Joseph White McCarthy, died at Westminster-Canterbury, Lynchburg, Va. on August 2, 2001. She was the daughter of Ann Pettyjohn Walker and William Clement Walker. She was born on March 2, 1906 at Walkers Ford, Va. She was a lifelong resident of Lynchburg, except for five years spent at Whitestone, Va. In her latter years, she was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Lynchburg and Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock, Va. She was employed by the Lynchburg School System and was connected with James River Day School at its formation. She is survived by her son, Joseph White McCarthy Jr. and his wife, Langhorne Lewis McCarthy of Lynchburg; her daughter, Ann McCarthy Goddard and her husband, Warren Maynard Goddard of Whitestone, Va.; 10 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Father Frank G. Dunn and Rev. Kim Webster will hold a memorial service Monday, August 6 at 11:30 a.m. at Westminster-Canterbury. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 5 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Diuguid Wiggington Chapel and other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. McCarthy Jr. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Westminster-Canterbury Fellowship Fund or Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock, Va.

PATRON

ROBBINS
Gladys Pair Robbins, age 97, died August 3, 2001. She received her teaching certificate from Longwood College. She then taught in one-room schools. She is survived by two daughters, Marian R. Francis and husband, John M. of Deltaville, and Louise R. Bryant and husband, Lewis of Courtland; a sister, Lena P. Taylor of Emporia; four grandchildren, Brenda Bailey, Rose Bryant, Robin Eason and Jimmy Bryant; and eight grandchildren. She was the oldest member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Emporia Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Echols Funeral Home tonight (Saturday) between the hours of 7 and 8:30 p.m. The family suggests memorials be given to the Capron Rescue Squad, the Mount Vernon Baptist Church, or Vincents Grove United Methodist Church.

ROBERTS
Edgar Eugene (Gene) Roberts died on August 1, 2001 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. He was a native of Quinton, Va. for 15 years. He was employed as an Aviation Safety Inspector with the Federal Aviation Administration at the Richmond FSDO. He was a member of the Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville, Va. He was a proficient pilot and avid sailor. Survivors include his wife, Dianne Roberts; one son, Jon Roberts and wife, Lorena of Smithfield, Va.; two brothers, Frederick Roberts and wife, Nancy, from Hernando, Fla., S. Jack Roberts and wife, Sandy, also from Hernando, Fla.; three sisters, Dorothy Hood and husband, Jack from Tampa, Fla., Sara Thurston and husband, Dick from Minneapolis, Minn., and Linda Baughman and husband, Ted from Spokane, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew J. and Mattie Roberts. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 11, at 11 a.m. on the beach at Zoar Church Beach Property, Deltaville, Va. The Reverend Lynn Hallett will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to Save The Bay Foundation.
