FOLEY
Marion Murray Foley, 76, of New Kent, Va., died Saturday, December 8, 2001. Her husband, Robert J. Foley preceded her in death. She is survived by eight children, John R. Foley, Marian Foley Davis, Dorothy Foley Cole, Phyllis Foley Carroll, Miles T. Foley, and Daniel P. Foley, all of Virginia, Pat Foley Townsend of New Jersey and Margaret Foley Parker of Colorado; sister, Emily Cummings of Oregon; brother, Harry Murray of Florida; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends today 2 to 5 p.m. at the Davis residence on Hill Farm Road, New Kent, Va. A memorial service will be held Tuesday 2 p.m. at St. Peters Church, New Kent, Va. Memorials may be made to Bon Secours Hospice of Richmond, 5801 Bremo Road, Richmond, Va. 23226. Vincent Funeral Home handling arrangements.

GILL
Edward Randolph Gill Sr., 76, of Colonial Heights passed away on Friday, December 7, 2001. He was a native of Petersburg, born the son of the late Alvin R. and Helen A. Gill. He was retired from Defense General Supply Center, a member of the American Legion Post 284 of Colonial Heights, a member of the VFW Post 2239, and served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Frances B. Gill "Tookie"; one daughter, Donna G. Freeman; one son, Edward R. Gill Jr. and his wife, Debbie; a sister, Connie G. Holzner and husband, Robbie; four grandchildren, Todd K. Jones, Shelly G. Simmons, Stacy J. Hutchinson, and Edward R. Gill III; and two great-grandchildren, Braden Simmons Jr., and Dalton Simmons. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2001 at Southlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Rodney Sprayberry of Colonial Heights Baptist Church officiating. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 12:35 p.m. for the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m.

GREGORY
Joan Council Gregory, age 75, of Lively, Va., formerly of Richmond, Va., died Saturday, December 8, 2001. She is survived by her husband, William B. Gregory; a daughter, Diane G. Naylor, York. Pa.; and a sister, Helen Chenery, Ashland, Va. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2001 in Irvington Baptist Church, Irvington, Va. Interment private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rappahannock General Hospital Home Health, P.O. Box 1449, Kilmarnock, Va. 22482.

GRIGGS
Pearl Kahl Griggs, 92, of Varina, went home to be with God Friday, December 7, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Kahl and Nelson Griggs; and her son, James Kahl. She is survived by her two daughters, Agnes Dowdy-Kandle and her husband, Ken, and Dorothy Matthews; her son, Edward Kahl and his wife, Marion; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mae Chancellor. She was an active member of Pioneer Baptist Church and a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by family and friends. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends Saturday 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday. Interment Washington Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Pioneer Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.

HAZZARD
Ernest W. Hazzard, age 56, of Midlothian, died Saturday, December 8, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two daughters, Kimberly Marinelli and her husband, Jeff, and Sara Robinson and her husband, Steve; a son, Brian Hazzard and his wife, Francine; two brothers, Robert T. Estes Sr. of Powhatan and George E. Hazzard of Chesterfield; a sister, Grace E. Jaffee of Virginia Beach; two granddaughters, Taylor and Peyton; four grandsons, Jeffrey, Colin, Ethan and Rusty. Mr. Hazzard was employed by the Chesterfield Police Department of 27 years and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

HUNT
Nellie F. Hunt, 96, of Richmond, formerly of Wake Forest, N.C., died Friday, December 7, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin C. Hunt; and a son, Edwin C. Hunt Jr.; and is survived by a son, William Talmadge Hunt and his wife, Brenda; two daughters, Mary Sue Smith and Ellen Chewning; a son-in-law, Thomas O. Chewning; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Ray Hunt; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildrne. The family will receive friends at Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest, N.C. on Monday, December 10, 2001 from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Burial in Wake Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice.

Mrs. Gracie A. Jones of Chesterfield departed this life Friday, December 7, 2001. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Streets. Funeral notice later.

Warren L. Jones departed this life December 5, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife, Bessie M. Jones; daughter, Constance Ford; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Bessie Gray; two brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law; five cousins, two devoted, Eva Perkins and Wendell Jones; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Funeral services will be held Monday 12 Noon from First African Baptist Church, 2700 Hanes Ave. with Rev. Dennis Thomas officiating. KEELING
David Carl Keeling departed this life Friday, December 7, 2001. He was preceded in death by his brother, Byron, and his father, Carl. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Virginia and Carroll Kellum of Frostproof, Fla.; his brother, John Keeling of Imlay City, Mich.; sister, Bonnie Schamback, of Stuart, Fla.; stepsisters, Joan Robertson of Danville, Va. and Julia Swagger of Richmond; and devoted care giver and companion Shannon Uhey. Family and friends are invited to the home of Eric and Julia Swagger on Saturday, December 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. for a time of rememberance.

KELLEY
Charles Blanton Kelley Sr., 75, of Mechanicsville, died December 7, 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Ziglar Kelley and James Alexander Kelley Sr. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Evelyn Bradley Kelley; his son, Charles B. Kelley Jr. and his wife, Donna G. Kelley; his daughter, Gail K. Russell and her husband, Phillip P. Russell; three grandchildren, Ryan Mitten, Kyle and Greg Russell; two brothers, James Kelley Jr. of Richmond and Calvin "Buddy" Kelley of Hampton; one sister, Carolyn K. Brown of Mechanicsville. Mr. Kelley retired from C&P Telephone Co. with 38 years of service. He was a WWII veteran and was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church for over 50 years. His remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 10 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Walnut Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 428, Mechanicsville, Va., 23111.

LESCANEC-FOUT
Lucille Gwaltney Lescanec Fout, 77, passed away December 8, 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents, Loyde Ogden Gwaltney and Alice Baugh Gwaltney Sober; and a brother, Loyde Ogden Gwaltney Jr. She is survived by her son, Loyde West Lescanec and daughter-in-law, Debbie Tomko Lescanec of Charlottesville; her daughter, Alice Lescanec McCollum and son-in-law, John Phillip McCollum of Richmond; four grandchildren, Ashley Paige Lescanec and Bryan West Lescanec of Charlottesville, and Michael West McCollum and Kevin Joseph McCollum of Richmond. She was a member of Saint John's Episcopal Church in Hopewell, the Eastern Star Chapter 121 of Chester and the Moose Lodge of Hopewell. She and her deceased husband, Frank Elmer Lescanec were the developers and original owners of Claremont Beach and Campground in Surry County. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. at the Parham Park Place Senior Apartments, 7600 East Parham Rd., Richmond. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to those athletic groups in which her beloved grandchildren, of whom she was so proud, are members. Contributions may be made to either the Huguenot Little League, P.O. Box 35162, Richmond, Va. 23235 or the Western Albemarle High School Athletic Dept., 5941 Rockfish Gap Tpke., Crozet, Va. 22932.

LYTTON
Charles H. Lytton of Richmond died Thursday, December 6, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Aleeta Lytton; one daughter, Dixie L. Alexander and her husband, David; three sons, Danny M. Lytton and his wife, Linda R., Charles A. Lytton and his wife, Carol, Stephen E. Lytton and his wife, Desiree B.; two grandsons, Seth D. Lytton and Haile J. Lytton; several nieces and nephews. Remains rest at Woody Funeral Home, 2110 East Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m., and where services will be held Monday, December 10 at 2 p.m. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.

MORGAN
Willie Morgan Jr. of Richmond, died in Cheverly, Md., December 3, 2001. Predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Beard Morgan, he is survived by his sons, Willie III (Yeadon, Pa.) and Wilson Morgan (Alexandria, Va.); daughter, Andrea Morgan-Keeles; four grandsons, two granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Yvonne A. and Alice J. Morgan; cousins, other relatives and friends. His remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home. After 10 a.m. Monday, his remains will rest at Fourth Baptist Church, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Rev. R.L. Taylor officiating. Interment private.

PHILLIPS
Harry Wesley Phillips, age 89, of Lawrenceville, Va., died December 7, 2001. He was the widower of Beulah Cannon Phillips and survived by a daughter, Lorene P. Simmons of Lawrenceville; a grandson, David B. Hobbs and wife, Amy of Lawrenceville; a great-grandson, Nicholas; two brothers, Lewis Phillips of Emporia and Waverly Phillips of Dundas; three sisters, Blanche Bradley and Lula Slagle, both of Emporia and Ethel Selden of Petersburg. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, with interment in Oakwood Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, 4 to 6 p.m.

RICHARDS

Stuard F. Rock, age 86, of Mechanicsville, died Saturday, December 8, 2001. Mr. Rock worked at T.W. Wood & Sons, and retired from Bowman Transportation. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise V. Rock; a son and daughter-in-law, Stuard A. (Al) and Bette Rock; and a grandson, John S. Rock of Leesburg, Ga. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. A graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2001 in the Mausoleum of Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Transportation Fund of the Shriner's Children's Hospital, c/o ACCA Temple, 1712 Bellevue Ave., Richmond, Va. 23227 or to the East Hanover Volunteer Rescue Squad.

RUNDBERG
Mrs. Ella Fjellman Rundberg, 94, died December 7, 2001. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eric G.S. Jr. and Norma Rundberg; a grandson, Jeffrey E. Rundberg; brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Emily Fjellman of Dubuque, Iowa. The family will receive friends Monday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Billups Funeral Home, 25th and Marshall Sts., where services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment in Deep River, Conn.

SHUMAKER
Tommy Gordon Shumaker Sr. born July 17, 1924 died December 7, 2001. He was a son of the late Charlie H. Shumaker and Emma Goins Shumaker. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Berta Catlett Shumaker. Mr. Shumaker is survived by his six children, Gladys F. Glass and husband, Fred of Richmond, Tommy G. Shumaker Jr. and wife, Hilda of New Kent, Donald D. Shumaker of Dillwyn, Benjamin M. Shumaker and wife, Sandra of Schuyler, Geneva S. Meadows (Judy) and husband, Garland of Wingina and Patrick T. Shumaker and wife, Dottie of Dillwyn. He is also survived by two sisters, Gertrude Wills of Vinton, Va. and Fannie Robinson of Dillwyn; two brothers, Frank A. Shumaker of Dillwyn and Jubal L. Shumaker of Richmond; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Shumaker was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation as a skilled carpenter. Mr. Shumaker was a licensed nurseryman, having owned and operated a nursery and greenhouse, Tommy's Plant Farm, at his home near Dillwyn for many years. He was a pioneer in this field, being one of the first to develop a business of that kind in this area, having been completely self-taught with all aspects of nursery and greenhouse procedures. Family visitation night will be held Sunday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home or anytime at the home. A memorial service will be held at Dunkum Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Monday, December 10. Interment in the Dillwyn Town Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buckingham Rescue Squad or Buckingham County Fire Department or favority charity.
