Mrs. Blanche S. Turner of Richmond entered eternal rest October 23, 2000. Professional services entrusted to the Dabneys’ Morticians. Funeral notice later.

WALKER
Jane Delores Walker departed this life on October 22, 2000 in her home. A longtime resident of Richmond, she was originally from South Hill, Va. She was a caring and devoted mother, grandmother and sister, who was respected and loved by many. The joyful sounds of her laughter and her keen sense of humor will surely be missed. We will always remember her warm, kind spirit and dedication to her family. She was an active member of Swansboro Baptist Church and sang with the Sanctuary Choir. She is survived by her four children, Hughie Walker Jr., Marvin Walker Sr., Tracey Walker and Stacey Abbott; a son-in-law, Russell Abbott; and a daughter-in-law, Tanya Walker; her siblings, Andrew Bragg, Louise Minor, Chris Bragg, Richard Bragg, Clarence Bragg, Carolyn Joyner; and nine grandchildren, in addition to a host of other family members. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 28, 12 noon at Swansboro Baptist Church with the Dr. H.R. Plummer Sr., pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.

Myra Arneeta (Grandma Dee) Waller, age 100, of Beaverdam, Va., widow of John Evan Waller, after a brief illness went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2000 at the home of Deacon Irvin and Yvonne Waller of Louisa Co. She is survived by one nephew, James (Sy) Anderson, of Washington, D.C.; 12 grandchildren, their wives and husbands, Jerome and Delores Moore, Walter Anderson, Ronald and Rita Anderson, Maurice Anderson, all of Washington, D.C., Michael Anderson, Marie and Curtis Waller, Carter and Elizabeth Waller, Josephine Anderson, Ruth Coles, all of Beaverdam, Frances Meredith, of Chapel Wood, Md., Lorrine Jackson, Yvonne and Dea, Irvin Waller, of Louisa; a host of great-great and great-great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Her remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland. Funeral service 1 p.m. Wednesday, Union Baptist Church, Beaverdam, Va. Rev. Lovell H. WITTENBRAKER
Lisa Marie Wittenbraker, 35, of Chesterfield, a native of Hopewell, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 20, 2000. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph G. Sweda. She is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Paul Wittenbraker; and much beloved daughter, Rachel Elizabeth Wittenbraker; mother, Joan M. Sweda; brothers, Steven and Thomas Sweda. A funeral service for Lisa will be held 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Christ the King Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be 10 a.m. Friday at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, Memorial Garden Fund, 9800 W. WOODSON
Louise Sacra Woodson, 74, of Glen Allen, died Monday, October 23, 2000. She was a lifelong member of the Tuckahoe Congregation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, John C. (Neil) Woodson; one daughter, Linda Braswell and her husband, Robert Lee Braswell Sr.; one granddaughter, Melanie Martin; two grandsons, Robert Lee Braswell Jr. and John Ervin Braswell; five great-granddaughters; and one aunt, Elsie Pearman. Her remains rest at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St., Glen Allen, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Richmond. ALLEN
Roderick Earl Allen, 80, of Prospect, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 in Farmville. He is survived by his wife, Hilda M. Allen; one son, Roger Allen of Farmville; one daughter, Laurie Justus of Prospect; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Whitter of Prospect and Lorene Roberts of Crewe; one brother, A. O. Allen Jr. of Prospect. A funeral service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church with interment in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday evening 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.

BAHEN
Ms. Elizabeth Frances Bahen, 85, of Richmond, died on May 28, 2002. She is survived by her son, Patrick A. Bahen of Richmond; her brother, Sherwood Baker Eck of Kalamazoo, Mich.; her nephews, John E. Eck of Cincinnati, Ohio, Stephen L. Eck of Philadelphia, Pa. and Marshal Bransford Eck of Damascus, Md.; and her great-nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Caroline, Emily and Randy Eck and Paula Ramsden of England. Ms Eck retired from the U.S. District Courts here in Richmond after 30 years of service. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Hollywood Cemetery. BASHAW
Ola Merricks Bashaw, 62, of Powhatan County, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Michael Bashaw; and is survived by her husband, Berkley F. "Turk" Bashaw; daughter, Shiree Bashaw; two sisters, Louise Carter and Lemma Powell; also 12 nieces and 13 nephews. Mrs. Bashaw was retired from Philip Morris and was a floral designer for many area florists. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hawthorne Cancer Support Center or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

BENNETT
Elizabeth Winfree Bennett of Chesterfield died May 30, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Robert M. Bennett; two daughters, Beth B. Latimer and Robin R. Bennett; three grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Morgan. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. BEVERLY
Departed this life May 28, 2002 in a Veterans' Hospital in Richmond, Va., Austin "Booler" Beverly of Occupacia, Va. He is survived by one sister, Wheatley Sayles of Occupacia; one brother, Willie "Pop" Beverly of Spotsylvania, Va.; one aunt, Lizzie Beverly; and a host of family and friends. The body will lie in state Friday, May 31 from 12 noon until 8 p.m. at Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephens Baptist Church, Central Point, Va. Interment in the Beverly's family Cemetery, Occupacia, Va. Agnes Jean Clark, 81, of Richmond, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002. She was the widow of James D. Clark Jr. She is survived by four children, Sharon Clark Chang, James D. Clark III and his wife, Mary Pat, Brian P. Clark and his wife, Jane, Jeffrey M. Clark and his wife, Helen; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Bridget's Catholic Church. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Geneva Forbes Gaines "Peaches" Davis departed this life May 27, 2002. Mrs. Gladys Branch Fitzgerald departed this life, Monday, May 27, 2002 at Cartwright Hospice Center in Saginaw, Mich. Predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Richard M. Fitzgerald. She is survived by two loving and devoted daughters, Alma Fitzgerald Jackson of Spartanburg, S.C. and Iris Fitzgerald Haynes of Midland, Mich., with whom she resided for the past year. Also surviving are her son-in-law, Thomas R. Haynes Jr., of Midland; and three grandchildren, Joi A. Jackson of Brooklyn, N.Y., Roger and Gerald Haynes of Midland; three sisters, Mrs. Ercelle B. Henderson, Mrs. Dorothy B. Williams and Mrs. Rose B. Gibson; two brothers, Richard and James M. Branch; seven sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A retired teacher and administrator in the Richmond Public Schools, who was admired and beloved by many. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, 12 noon at First Baptist Church, South Richmond. The Reverend Dwight C. Jones, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Maury Cemetery. After 11 a.m. Saturday, remains will rest in the above-named church until hour of service. GILMAN
Elizabeth Hope Gilman, 95, of Ashland, widow of Howard Gilman, died at home on May 30, 2002. She was born October 14, 1906 at Chantilly in Hanover. Mrs. Gilman graduated from Fredericksburg's State Teacher's College, now Mary Washington College. She was a retired teacher and principal, having served 25 years in Hanover County Public Schools. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth King; son-in-law, Michael King; and 18 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 1 at First Baptist Church, Ashland. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at Woodland Cemetery, Ashland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to First Baptist Church, Ashland, Mission Fund, 801 Thompson St., Ashland, Va. 23005.

HARDY
Miles Irving Hardy, widower of Elizabeth Ervine Robertson Hardy, died Thursday, May 30, 2002. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Hardy Koch and Martha Scott Hardy. He is survived by numerous relatives including his cousins and in-laws, Virginia Hubert Noble, Geraldine Hubert Snellings, Ernestine DuPriest Gunn, Jacqueline DuPriest Harwood, Mary Elizabeth Elderkin, Evelyn DuPriest, Colleen DuPriest, Dr. Hubert Gary, Dr. Fred Given, Emilee Anne Hensley; his sister-in-law, Dr. Louise Wilkes Robertson and her brother, Archibald F. Robertson Jr. He was a devoted family man who looked after many people including his wife. He showed his love for people by sharing his vegetables and flowers, especially his roses, with everyone he met. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
