FIEHLER
Georgean M. Fiehler, 76, of Lake Monticello, Va., went to glory on Friday, August 10, 2001. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Daniel Fiehler; three children, and seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2001 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2315 Parham Rd., 1/2 block south from I-64 exit 181. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Concordia College, Bronxville, N.Y. 10708, or Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mountain Place, Suite 200, Charlottesville, Va. 22911. The family is being served by Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave.

FLEMING
Mrs. Ida Marie Fleming of 2980 Huguenot Trail, Powhatan Co. departed this life Friday, August 10, 2001. Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral notice later.

HARRIS
Thomas Gardner Harris, 81, of West Point, Va., died Friday, August 10, 2001. Mr. Harris was born July 26, 1920 in Macon, North Carolina to the late Lula Gardner Harris and Henry Brame Harris Jr. After graduation from Macon High School he attended Louisburg College and graduated from North Carolina State University in 1941 with a BS in Forestry, where he has remained a loyal supporter of the School of Forestry and the Wolfpack Club. In January 1942 he was called into active duty in the US Army. He served four years with the 83rd Infantry Division, 329th Battalion landing at Omaha Beach June 19, 1944. His group met the Russians at the Elbe River in Germany in April 1944. After the war, he worked for Halifax Paper Company in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. later to become Albemarle Paper Company rising to Woodlands Manager in 1951. Mr. Harris became Vice President of Woodlands for Chesapeake Corporation in West Point, Virginia, rising to Group Vice President of Woodlands and Wood Products before retirement in 1985. He was active in the North Carolina Forestry Association serving as president. After his move to Virginia he became active in Virginia Forests serving as president and receiving the Man of the Year in Forestry Award. He was a member of the Society of American Foresters and was elected a Fellow in 1991. Mr. Harris was active in industry associations including American Pulpwood Association where he was chairman of Southeast Technical Division as well as president of the organization. He was a member of the West Point United Methodist Church and served as chairman of the Administrative Board both in West Point and the First United Methodist Church in Roanoke Rapids. He was a member of Kiwanis for fifty-three years. He served on the West Point School Board for ten years and served as chairman for eight years. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Ruth Crissman Harris; two sons, Thomas G. Harris Jr. and wife, Marybeth of Lexington, Ga., J. Scott Harris and wife, Betty of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; two daughters, Criss H. Blackstone and husband, J. Whitmel Blackstone of Washington N.C. and Caroline Hackley and husband, Mark Hackley of Waynesboro, Va.; grandchildren, Laura Blackstone of Philadelphia, Pa., M. Caroline Harris of London, England, Carl Blackstone and wife, Mary Addison of Columbia, S.C., T.G. Harris III of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Scott C. Harris of Orangeburg, S.C., John Harris of Winter Park, Florida and Benjamin Hackley of Waynesboro, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Marguerite H. Waters of Greensboro; two nieces and many cousins. A funeral service will be held Sunday 3 p.m. at West Point United Methodist Church, West Point, Va. Burial 11 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery, Macon, North Carolina. The family will receive friends tonight 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home, West Point, Va. Memorials may be made to West Point United Methodist Church, P.O. HODGES
Minnie Addie Hodges, 85, of Richmond, widow of Earl Hodges, died Thursday, August 9, 2001. She is survived by two sons, Howard Hodges and his wife, Barbara and Carl "Jimmy" Hodges and his wife, Mary; his two sisters, Frances Stanley and Dottie Cole; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends Sunday, August 12, from 2 to 8:30 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where services will be held Monday, August 13, at 1 p.m. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.

JOHNSON

MILES
Aubrey Lee Miles of Richmond entered eternal rest August 7, 2001. Cherishing his memory are his mother, Virginia B. Miles; stepfather, Lewis Rogers; one sister, Michelle; two brothers, James (Joan) and Tony Miles (Margie); his grandmother, Mattie Bar of Marion, S.C.; three aunts, seven uncles, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Irving Clark Myers Sr., 74, of Richmond, died August 9, 2001. He is survived by four sons, Lonnie Ray Myers and his wife, Daisy, Michael Wayne Myers, Roger Lee Myers, Irving Clark Myers Jr. and his wife, Rita; a daughter, Vickie Ann Duffey and her husband, Gordon Duffey Sr.; two sisters, Hester Shelton of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Ruth Cottingham of Austin, Texas; grandson, Gordon Duffey Jr.; two granddaughters, Chelsea and Brittney Duffey; a very close friend, Bernice Carner. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in Mountain View Cemetery, Danville, Va.

REID
Lawrence E. Reid, 81, died Thursday, August 9, 2001 in the Veterans Hospice Center. A native of Richmond for over 65 years. Retired from R.F.& P. railroad as a machinist. Also employed by the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 131. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter E. and Sarah J. Reid. Survived by one sister, one brother, five daughters, one son, 14 grandchildren. Memorial service will be held August 12, 2001, 2 p.m., at the VA Hospice Chapel.

RICHARDSON
Arlette V. Richardson of Richmond departed this life August 10, 2001 at Henrico Doctors' Hospital. Remains rest at the Carlton T. Brooks Funeral Home, 2200 Hull St. Funeral notice later.

RITCHIE
Adell Adcock Ritchie, age 96, of Blackstone, widow of M. David Ritchie Sr., went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 10, 2001. She is survived by a son, M.D. Ritchie Jr. and wife, Agnes of Blackstone; and two daughters, Patricia Umbaugh of Burlington, N.C. and Shirley Moncure and husband, Irby of Blackstone; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Worship and funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, August 12 at the Crenshaw United Methodist Church. Burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Irby and Shirley Moncure, 1130 Battleview Road, from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The family requests that those wishing to make memorials consider donations to Crenshaw Methodist Church Building Fund or Kenston Forest School of Blackstone, Va. Her remains rest at Hamner-McMillian Funeral Home in Blackstone.

ROBERTS
Elizabeth Garcelon Roberts, 97, of Richmond, Va., a retired clerk for Miller and Rhoads, widow of John G. Roberts Sr., died August 10, 2001. She was past worthy matron of Areme OES No. 17-Richmond, member of Lunenburg VFW Post 9954 Ladies Auxiliary, member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Richmond and numerous other clubs. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John G. Roberts Jr. and Jerry of Richmond; a daughter, Mary Beth Vaughan of Victoria; six grandchildren, Pam Yoder, Charlotte Brockwell, Carolyn Lewis, Dennis Roberts, Sharon Kaye Keen, Lisa Merrill; eight great-grandchildren, Eddie Lewis, Tammy Joyce, Debbie Durham, Chris Brockwell, Warren Brockwell, Jason Keen, Jeremy Keen, Emily Merrill; five great-great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Cassie and Shelby Joyce, Sierra Brockwell, Hunter Durham. The family will receive friends Saturday (today), 3 to 5 p.m. at Staples Funeral Home, Victoria, Va., and where funeral services will be conducted Sunday, 2 p.m. with interment at Lakeview Cemetery in Victoria. Departed this life August 9, 2001, Mrs. Mary Jane Rose. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Harris; and son Bernard Harris Hence; both of California; two granddaughters Zakiya Harris of Oakland, Calif. and Juanita Williams of Richmond; three brothers, Willie and Herbert Harris, George Rustin; sister, Bernice Rustin; aunt Lorine Hence; two uncles, George and Walker Heiskell; one sister-in-law, Helen Rustin; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, one devoted Mable Carter. Mrs. Christine Minor Ross of Richmond, departed this life suddenly August 6, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Allen T. Ross; daughter, Carlise Ross; two grandchildren, Chrishawndra and Kyleek Ross; sisters, Doris (Beverly) Gregory, Beatrice Minor and Doria (Donald) Hemmings; brothers, James N. and Robert Lee Minor; mother-in-law, Beatrice Ross; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, among them devoted, George Terry. STEWART
Col. Glenn L. Stewart (USAF, retired) died August 9, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Martha; daughters, Susan Doyle and Anne Glick; grandchildren, Charmagne Doyle and Aaron Doyle, all of Richmond; his mother, Edna Stewart of Hamilton, Ohio; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas and Elizabeth Rupert of Virginia Beach. Col. Stewart graduated fom Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired from his second career at DIT, Commonwealth of Virginia. A memorial service will be held at Bon Air Christian Church, Buford Rd., at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 15. Inurnment will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, August 23 at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. "Big Mom" Stewart of 2400 Burton St. formerly of 1514 Oakwood Ave. Left to cherish her memory are one daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Nathan Munford; son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Phyllis Stewart; daughter-in-law, Gloria Stewart of New York; son-in-law, James Bailey; six granddaughters, five grandsons, 11 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Leatha Smith; brother-in-law, William Fields of Pennsylvania, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, loved ones. Stephen "Sonny" Valdrighi, 70, of Richmond, died Thursday, August 9, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Patricia S. Valdrighi; three daughters, Cynthia Lockemy, Donna Doherty, both of Richmond and Jennifer Kurisky of Leola, Pa.; grandchildren, Kevin Doherty, Kaitlyn and Emily Kurisky, Renee Dickens; two sisters, Jeny V. Holtz of Richmond, Anna V. Shaw; one brother, Ralph H. Valdrighi, both of Mathews; and many other relatives. The family will receive friends 3 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where a Christian Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:15 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. WALLEN
Michele Antoinette Wallen, age 38, of Ford, Va., died Thursday, August 9, 2001 at her residence. She was born March 26, 1963 in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of James and Martha Wallen. In addition to her parents, Michele is survived by her loving companion, Woodrow W. McGonigal Jr. of Ford; a daughter, Chelsea Martina Wallen of Chester; three sisters, Victoria W. Mitchell of Bonita Springs, Fla., Angela W. Mason of Midlothian, Va. and Carolyn W. Ginn of Chester; a foster brother, Joe J. Duck of Colonial Heights; two stepdaughters, Constance Marie McGonigal of Richmond, Va. and Sonia Rebbeca Milliner of Amelia; two stepgrandchildren, Robert Edward Milliner and Christopher Ryan Milliner. Michele was preceded in death by her brother, James E. Wallen Jr. A viewing and visitation will be held 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a Christian Wake beginning at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2001 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 17101 Jefferson Davis Highway, Chester, Va. Hospitality will follow at Condon Hall. The Mass of Resurrection will be said 1 p.m. Monday at the church by Father James Cowles with interment following in Sunset Memorial Park. WHITAKER
Anne Marie Hoens Whitaker, 63, of Midlothian, passed away August 8, 2001 of cancer at her home with loved ones. Anne loved and was loved by so many, giving of herself and caring ever so much for her family and friends. She brought joy and comfort to all and was a bright and strong spirit to those she touched. She shared her design talents with many to make others' lives and homes more beautiful. Anne will continue as a bright spirit for us all. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Vernon T. Whitaker Jr.; four children, Gwen W. Williams and her husband, Wayne of Williams, Va., Vernon T. Whitaker III and his wife, Lisa of Las Vegas, Nev., Christopher R. Whitaker and his wife, Valerie of Williston Vt., and Lisa W. Shimko and her husband, Wayne of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Saunders, Mary Ashley and Amanda Whitaker and Christopher and Julia Whitaker; her parents; Christopher S. and Madeline G. Hoens of Laurel, Va.; a brother, Robert J. Hoens of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and three sisters, Carol Jean Shope, Bettie Joan Cramblitt and Rosemary Baker, all in the Richmond area. The family will receive friends Sunday August 12, 2001 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Chapel at Bliley Funeral home, 3801 Augusta Ave. A funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m., Monday August 13, 2001, at The Chapel.
