WILDER
Clayton Earl Wilder, 86, died August 10, 2001. Mr. Wilder is survived by his wife, Sadie Wilder; a son, Billy Wilder of Quinton; three brothers, three grandchildren. Funeral services 2 p.m. August 12 in the chapel. Burial Beaver Hill Cemetery. The Evans Funeral Home of Edenton is serving the Wilder family.

WILLIAMS
Robert "Gary" Williams, 52, of Richmond, departed this life August 9, 2001. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Nancy L. Williams; two brothers, Clifton W. Williams Jr. and Mark D. Williams; and other close relatives and friends. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Cosby Memorial Baptist Church. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

WRIGHT
Barbara Isadora Wright, 58, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2001. The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2001, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in West Point. Arrangements by J.K. Redmond Funeral Home, Shacklefords.

ADKINS
Gladys Hall Everett Adkins, widow of Berkley B. Adkins, died Sunday, July 22, 2001. She was preceded in death by her son, Leonard Ray Everett. Survivors include a loving sister, Arnette Hall Atkins; a daughter-in-law, Dora Everett; a stepdaughter, Linda B. Adkins; three granddaughters, Terre E. Hooe, Rhonda L. Everett and Laura Everett-Hall; and six great-grandchildren. Friends may call 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, 2 to 3:30 and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment Forest Lawn. Mrs. Adkins was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and the Palmore Bible Class (formerly the Ann Judson Class). She retired in 1976 from Duplex Envelope Co. after 35 years of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Television Ministry of First Baptist Church.

Ernest Ellerson "Garbo" Anderson Jr., 78, of Tappahannock, died Sunday, July 22, 2001. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church, Supply. He was preceded in death by his son, Harold Ellerson Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Jean Anderson; his children by marriage, Sharon Hardy of Tappahannock, and Janet Brizendine of Howertons; two sisters, Martha Gwaltnay and Jean Clayton, both of Smithfield; and his grandchildren by marriage, Robert L. Hammond III, Lindsey Kaye Clark and Carey Elizabeth Clark. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home. Interment Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery, Dunnsville. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Tappahannock Volunteer. Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 583, Tappahannock, Va. 22560.

Departed this life July 19, 2001, John E. (Skeeter) Cox, formerly of 2122 Creighton Rd. He is survived by one son, Lamont Harris; seven sisters, Marilyn C. Miller, Evelyn Wyatt, Rosemary, Elsie, Ella, Elizabeth and Bernice Cox; five brothers, Walter Jr., William, Sam, Willie and Calvin Cox; three aunts, two uncles, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and other relatives and friends. Mary L. DeGaetani, widow of Frank J. DeGaetani Sr., died in Richmond, Friday, July 20, 2001. She is survived by her sons, Frank J. DeGaetani Jr. and his wife, Penny, Stephen P. DeGaetani and his wife, Linda; a sister, Laura Corrieri of Richmond; a brother, Mike Verdi of Maryland; four grandchildren, Andrea, Katherine, Stephanie, and Nicholas DeGaetani. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Home for the Aged, 1503 Michaels Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229.

FANNON
George Henry Fannon, 77, of Jarratt, died Sunday, July 22, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Syble Fannon; one daughter, Patricia F. Warf and her husband, James L. Warf; two grandchildren, Kelly W. Harvey and her husband, Alan Harvey, and Kenneth A. Warf; two great-granddaughters, Jordan Harvey and Jillian Harvey; and one great-grandson, Evan Harvey. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday (tonight) at Owen Funeral Home, where the funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2001. Interment High Hills Memorial Cemetery.

Ruby S. Heath, 93, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on July 21, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emerson A. Heath; daughter, Dolores H. Johnson and son, R. Douglas Heath. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret H. Thomas and her husband, Bob; son, Garland E. Heath and his wife, Mary Jane; daughter-in-law, Joyce C. Heath; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Her family will receive friends on Monday (today) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hopewell United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Dale Memorial Park. HORNE
George Landon Horne, 82, passed away July 21, 2001. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel. Family will receive friends Monday (today) from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chesterfield Co. Vol. Rescue Squad.

ILLIS
Richard F. Illis, 62, of Midlothian, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2001 after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; two daughters, Sherri L. Belton of North Carolina, and Pamela D. Hartley of Ohio; three grandsons, Ryan and Derek Hartley of Ohio, and Matthew Belton of North Carolina; his mother, Eleanor Illis; a sister, Bunny Rogers, both of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. Rick served 12 years in the military and was most recently employed with Kronos, Inc. in Richmond. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be held at a later date with military honors in Quantico National Cemetery, for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Hawthorn Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Mary Evelyn Johnson, 70, of Powhatan, died July 21, 2001. She is survived by her husband, A. Sanders Johnson; two daughters, Robin Bass of Norfolk, and Faith Joy Johnson of Texas; two sisters, Tilly Rominger of Richmond, and Carolyn C. Wynn of Florida; and two grandchildren. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan, and where services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment Grove Cemetery, Cumberland.

Louis Byron Jones Sr. of Charles City, departed this life July 21, 2001. He was preceded in death by his father, Lenmood; brother Lorenzo. He is survived by his mother, Ella M. Jones; his devoted wife, Elizabeth "Ettamae"; two sons, Louis Jr. and Dwight (Angie); daughter, Kathy Bradley (Victor Sr.); three grandchildren, Corey, Nikki and Victor Jr.; three brothers, four sisters, a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at J. Leroy Charity Funeral Home, Charles City. At 12 Noon Wednesday, Mr. Jones will rest in Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Charles City, where services will be held 2 p.m. Rev. Arnold Friend officiating. Interment church cemetery.

Departed this life July 19, 2001, Mrs. Mary Bell James Lee of 3512 Moody Ave. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rogers H. Lee. She is survived by one daughter, Josephine L. Taylor; one son, James H. Lee; 11 grandchildren, among them, Elder Ronald E., Karl A., Michael A., Jerry C., and Terry C. Williams; ten great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Louis James Jr.; one niece, and several cousins; one daughter-in-law, Debbie B. Lee; two sisters-in-law, Annie Jarvis and Mildred Scruggs; one brother-in-law, Julius Lee; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral Tuesday, 12 noon at Grayland Baptist Church, 2301 Third Ave., where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr. Clifton Whitaker Jr. officiating. Interment New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Buckingham Co., Va. Family, friends and organizations assemble at the church 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.

MICKLE
Pearl Thomason Mickle, 79, of Mechanicsville (native of Lexington, N.C.) died in her home, July 22, 2001, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jack C. Mickle. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Crouch and her husband, Ray; two sons and their wives, Doug and Debbie Mickle, David and Dale Mickle; five grandsons, Zach, Seth, Travis, Jessie, and Adam; and one great-granddaughter, Haley Nicole. The family's deep sorrow is tempered by the knowledge that her spirit is at peace with God. Remains rest at the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St. Rd., where the family will receive friends and relatives (today) from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and where funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at 1 p.m. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Departed this life July 19, 2001, Mrs. Virginia D. Minor of 104 Springforest Dr., Apt. A. She is survived by her husband, Arthur L. Minor Sr.; three sons, Jamie and Arthur L. Minor Jr. and Gregory Christian; three daughters, Mildred Christian, Lisa and Mary Minor; six grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Christian; one sister, Rev. Bernice Minor; a host of nieces and nephews; one aunt, Marie Arthur; one uncle, Luke Christian; one daughter-in-law, Marian Minor; eight sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Remains will lie in state Tuesday, 12 Noon at Union Baptist Church, New Kent County, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Rev. Alisa Pink, 39, of 813 Brookside Dr., Bartlett, Illinois, wife of Robert Larry Peters formerly of Mechanicsville, departed this life Wednesday, July 19, 2001. Alisa was a bilateral lung transplant patient and great fan of Bruce Springsteen music. She is survived by her husband, Rob; father, mother, sisters, nieces and nephews; godson, Anthony; many friends and mother and father-in-law, Mildred and Wilson Peters of Mechanicsville. Services to be held at St. Walters Catholic Church in Roselle, Ill. on Tuesday, July 24 at 3 p.m. Memorial service to be held at Monticello in Virginia the following week. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

POATES
James B. Poates Sr., 79, of Richmond, departed this life July 21, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Norma Hicks Poates; sons, James B. Poates Jr. and his wife, Janice, and Julian Lee Poates; three grandchildren, Tara Middlebrook, Angela and Casey Poates; one great-grandchild, Taylor Middlebrook; and one sister, Myrtle Duncan. Mr. Poates retired from RF&P Railroad after 42 years of service, was a member of Central Baptist Church for over 50 years and a member of the Railroad Masonic Lodge No. 284, AF&AM, for over 45 years. He was also an Army veteran of World War II. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Central Baptist Church. Interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 1500 Courthouse Rd., Richmond, Va. 23236.
