Kenneth L. Mincer
MERCER, Pa. -- Kenneth L. Mincer, 84, of Woodland Place, Coolspring Twp., Mercer, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Woodland Place.
He was born in Myoma on April 23, 1921, to Charles E. Mincer and Alma G. Eckstein Mincer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle M. Platt Mincer; a son, Thomas C. Mincer; and three sisters, Millie Smith, Edna McKinney and Henrietta Higbee.
Mincer served in the Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1946, and retired in 1985 as chief inspector at Hodge Foundry of Greenville where he worked for 35 years.
He was a founding member of the Canal Museum in Greenville and a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Greenville.
Surviving are a daughter, Marcia Mincer of Ridgeway, Va.; three sons, Kenneth L. Mincer Jr. of Ona, W.Va., Lawrence M. Mincer of Greenville and Dane A. Mincer of Transfer; one brother, John E. Mincer of Mars; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Loutzenhiser-Jordan Colonial Funeral Home in Greenville.
Memorial donations may be made to Woodland Place, 745 Greenville Road, Mercer, Pa. 16137.

Lula B. Trott
The funeral for Lula Bell Trott, 93, of Martinsville, who died Sept. 26, 2005, was held Thursday at Stanfield-Miller Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Ray Arrington officiated. Burial was in Carver Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were A.L. Carter, Roy Carter, Henry Carter, Ralph Carter, Clarence Millner, Clyde Hairston and Aaron Evans.

Evelyn P. Turner
A service for Evelyn Parsons Turner, 90, of 807 Jefferson Circle, Martinsville, who died Sept. 27, 2005, at her residence, will be held at noon Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father Joseph Torretto will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
She was born May 19, 1915, in Dallas, Texas, to Norville L. Parsons and Frankie M. Hanson Parsons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.T. Turner, and a sister, Virginia Chappell.
Surviving are a son, Louis Turner of West Hartford, Conn.; five nephews; and two nieces.
Turner was a founding member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where she was music director and organist for 40 years. She also was a soloist for civic and church events and taught private voice and piano lessons. She was a member of Piedmont Arts Association.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Norris Funeral Services.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund, 2481 Spruce St., Martinsville, Va. 24112.
Arrangements are by Norris Funeral Services and Crematory.

Mildred T. Turner
The funeral for Mildred Pauline Thomas Turner, 79, of Woolwine, who died Sept. 26, 2005, was held Thursday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. The Revs. Luther Hopkins and Dewayne Troutt officiated. Burial was in the Thomas-Turner family cemetery in Woolwine.
Pallbearers were Timothy Turner, Stephen Turner, Matthew Turner, Eugene Turner, William Turner, Bradley Turner and Patrick Turner.

Virginia R. Bishop
Virginia "Roxie" Bishop, 89, of Collinsville, and formerly of West Virginia, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at Stanleytown Health Care.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Douglas Mortuary in Welch, W.Va.
The funeral will be held at noon at the funeral home, and the burial will be in Oceana, W. Va.
Bassett Funeral Service is handling local arrangements.

Frances B. Bobbitt
Frances B. Bobbitt, 89, of 300 Maple Leaf Road, Spencer, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Norris Funeral Services.

Virgia B. Hobson
The funeral for Virgia Brown Hobson, 92, of 250 Kings Way Road Apt. 225, Martinsville, who died Oct. 19, 2005, at her home, was held Sunday at Hairston Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop James C. Richardson, Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Hobson family cemetery in Martinsville.
Pallbearers were Bobbie Baker, Donald Baker, Bernard Baker, William Vickers and Willis Via.

John D. Layne
The funeral for John D. Layne, 75, of Bassett who died Oct. 19, 2005, was held Sunday at Amazing Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Hodges officiating. military rites were conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and a flag presentation by Sgt. Clint Wilson. Burial was in Henry Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Spec. Phillip Spencer, Spec. Javaris Wright, Pvt. Benjamin Early, Spec. Joseph Franklin, Spec. Joel Wright, Sgt. 1st Class Ronald Black and Sgt. Frances Calimbas.
Bassett Funeral Services handled arrangements.

Daisy H. Roach
The funeral for Daisy Reed Haley Roach, 99, of 1547 Centerville Road, Axton, who died Oct. 20, 2005, at her residence, was held Sunday at McKee-Stone Funeral chapel with the Rev. John Snyder and Pastor James Cole officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Belinda Scearce, Melody Epstein, Janice Dickson, Amy McGill, Steve Roach, Lee Roach, Kevin Roach, Nathan Roach, Eric Epstein, Mike Dickson, Will Epstein and Bryan Epstein.

Eugene S. Bostick
The funeral for Eugene Sellers Bostick, 68, of 60 Theatre Street, Martinsville, who died Oct. 24, 2005, will be held today at Hines Funeral Services chapel. Minister Rufus Millner will officiate.
He was born April 23, 1937, to Sellers Bostick and Maxine Fralin Bostick, both deceased.

H. Grey Bryant
H. Grey Bryant, 85, of Henry, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005. Arrangements will be announced by Flora Funeral Service in Rocky Mount.

Charles H. Duncan Jr.
FLORIDA -- Charles H. Duncan Jr., 81, of Lake Wales, died Oct. 22, 2005 at Lake Wales Medical Center of complications from a stroke.
He was born in Galax, Va., on Aug. 27, 1924, and was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He attended police school, was a expert in criminology. He retired as a police officer with the Hampton Police Department in Hampton, Va., and he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Duncan resided in Martinsville, Va. for several years, moving to Lakeland 20 years ago. He also was an antique dealer.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Irene Ramsey Duncan of Lake Wales; three daughters, Charlotte Schuckers of Big Run, Pa., Sherrie Frazier of Lake Wales, Rena Stevens of Bartow; a son, Charles H. Duncan III of Edwards, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales.
Marion Nelson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred M. Eanes
The funeral for Mildred Martin Eanes, 79, of Vesta, who died Oct. 24, 2005, was held Thursday at Moody Funeral Home chapel woth the Rev. Jim Churchwell officiating. Burial was in the Hughes-Lawson family cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Eanes, Jamie Eanes, Jeff Criner, Mark Greenburg, Dakota Thacker and Ned Walker.
