Curtis L. Johnson Jr.
Curtis L. Johnson Jr., 78, of Martinsville, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
He was born in Martinsville on Aug. 2, 1927, to Curtis L. Johnson Sr. and Stella Adkins Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Surviving are three sisters, Elizabeth Fallin of Mount Airy, N.C., Helen McMillan of Bassett and Dorothy Rakes of Mount Airy, N.C.; a brother, Donald Johnson of Mount Airy, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today at St. Paul's Church of the Brethren cemetery in Mount Airy, N.C. with Daryl B. Martin officiating.
Bassett Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Ocie I. McGhee
Ocie Ingram McGhee, 92, of 184 Eliza Reamy Road, Collinsville, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at her home.
She was born in Franklin County on June 1, 1913, to Bunyan Ingram and Annie Prillaman Ingram. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kirk McGhee; a daughter, Ann Turner McGhee; and a brother, U.B. Ingram.
She worked at McGhee Grocery and was treasurer for Stone Memorial Christian Church for many years.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty Turner Lemons of Collinsville; two sisters, Marie Prillaman of Henry and Louise Ramsey of Collinsville; two brothers, Beverly Ingram and Clay Ingram, both of Henry; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stone Memorial Christian Church with Minister Lawrence Harris officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends tomorrow from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services chapel.
Memorials may be made to Stone Memorial Christian Church, 3030 Virginia Ave., Collinsville, Va. 24078.

Charles E. Moore Sr.
GLOUCESTER -- Charles Ernest Moore Sr., 73, formerly of Meadowview, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005.
He retired as a bus operator for Pentran after 19 years of service. He served in the Army in the Korean Conflict and was a member of Peninsula Baptist Church in Gloucester.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie M. Moore of the home; a daughter, Cathy Cozart of Martinsville; two sons, Charles E. Moore Jr. and Kenneth W. Moore, both of Williamsburg; a sister, Martha Lane of Denver, Colo.; two stepsons, Jack. L. Hester and Eddie L. Hester, both of Gloucester; seven grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; and a step-great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Peninsula Funeral Home in Newport News with Pastors Zack Duncan and Samuel E. Hyde officiating. Burial will be in Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edna E. Padgett
The funeral for Edna Lee Earles Padgett, 71, of Preston Road, Martinsville, who died Nov. 22, 2005, was held Saturday at Norris Funeral Services chapel with Pastor Berlin Hanks officiating. Burial was in Henry Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Joe Taylor, Doc Ward, Chris Atkins, George Padgett, Tony Padgett, Ricky Padgett, Michael Watson, Junior Vernon and Andy Adkins.
Norris Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Dan S. Robertson
The funeral for Dan Stafford Robertson, 83, of Axton, who died Nov. 21, 2005, was held Wednesday at McKee-Stone Funeral Services chapel with Pastor Bob Moore officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were John Robertson, Dan Wilson, Bill Wilson, Eddie Robertson, G.W. Robertson, Brian Robertson, Ernest Roach and Mickey Ingram.

Sue F. Turner
The funeral for Sue Fannon Turner, 79, of Bassett, who died Nov. 21, 2005, was held Friday at Bassett Memorial United Methodist Church. The Revs. Alan Follett and Jim Meredith officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Mark Nolen, Jimmy Bryant, Morris Rogers, Smitty Doyle, David Doyle, Robert Fulcher, Larry Fulcher, G. Tommy Turner, Eugene White, Clyde Lawson, Joe Pegram and Bob Petty.
Arrangements were by Collins Funeral Services.

Billy R. Ward
Billy Richard Ward, 55, of 804 Evergreen Drive, Spencer, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at his home.
Norris Funeral Services will announce arrangements.

Robert W. Wingfield Sr.
Robert W. "Big Wayne" Wingfield Sr., 63, of Collinsville, died Nov. 23, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Lynchburg on Dec. 30, 1941, to David Edgar Wingfield and Frances Nan Thaxton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hendrick Wingfield.
He was a former construction worker.
Surviving are a daughter, Frances Annette Wingfield of Collinsville; a son, Robert Wayne Wingfield Jr. of Collinsville; three sisters, Mary F. Whorley and Vickie Fleshman, both of Lynchburg and Phyllis Collins of Henry; three brothers, Edgar W. Wingfield, Michael K. Wingfield and David E. Wingfield, all of Lynchburg; a stepson, Thomas Michael Kennedy of Asheboro, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Bassett Funeral Service chapel with Daryl B. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Henry Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Norman O. Lewis
Norman Oakley Lewis, 84, of 713 Orchard Street, Martinsville, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville.
He was born on June 4, 1921 to Herbert Bruce Lewis and Sally Betty Oakley Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a 1939 graduate of Martinsville High School and completed two years of Certified Business Law and Accounting from the College of William and Mary. During World War II, he was a shipbuilder at the Naval Ship Yard in Norfolk. He was a retired traffic manager with Virginia-Carolina Freight Lines after 25 years of service.
As an active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, he was a lay leader, conference delegate, certified lay speaker, Sunday school teacher, choir member and financial secretary.
He was a member of the Conference Board of Pensions and Related Benefits for eight years and later served as a member of the Conference Board or Housing for Retired Ministers for eight years. He served the Danville District as Chairman of the Superintendency Committee for 15 years.
In addition, he was active in scouting and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award and was an inductee of the Order of the Arrow.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Ethel Mize Lewis of the home; two sons, Edward O. Lewis of Alexandria and David N. Lewis of Burke; three grandchildren; one great-granchild; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Philip Waltz officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Services and at other times at the residence.
