Timothy K. Conley, age 38, of Amelia, passed away Monday, November 5, 2001. He is survived by his parents, Bobby and Dixie Conley of Richmond; a sister, Cindy Spera and her husband, Ken of Detroit, Mich.; a nephew, Matthew Spera. Mr. Conley was employed by Signtek of Richmond. Family will receive friends at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, November 8. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment Dale Memorial Park.

CRAIG
Departed this life November 8, 2001, Mr. Leon D. Craig Sr. of 2902 Seminary Ave. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 North 25th St. Funeral notice later.

CRAWLEY
Helena Beatrice Jones Crawley, age 72, of 1009 Nelson St., passed on November 4, 2001. She is survived by three sons, Charles P. Jr., Alonzo L. and Marcellus L. Crawley; one daughter, Dianne D. Crawley-Williams, all of Richmond; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Spencer E. Jr. and Raymond N. Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 North 25th St., where the family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. Remains will lie in state Saturday 10 a.m. at Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church, 2705 Hartman St., where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Rev. Garland W. Jones officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.

CRUTE
Kathlean Newton Crute, 59, wife of Joe Crute, died Wednesday, November 7, 2001 at Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston. Mrs. Crute was born and reared in Mecklenburg County, was a 1960 graduate of Bluestone High School and a member of Nelson Baptist Church. She was employed with Burlington Industries, Clarksville Finishing Plant, for 38 years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 10 at Nelson Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. James McAlister and Rev. Aubrey Heath officiating. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include sons, Tony Crute of Richmond and Steve Crute of Knightdale, N.C.; sisters, Mary Sue Cole of Nelson and Margie Heath of Scottsburg; brothers, Clarence Newton of Ringgold and Dennis Newton of Clarksville; a granddaughter, Kasey Crute; grandsons, Joseph and Jacob Crute; dear friends, Linda Newton, Arthur and Frances Tingen and Gladys Wilkerson; a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Crute was predeceased by three brothers, Charlie, James and Garland Newton. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, November 9 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.

DEVORE
Pete E. Devore Jr., 53, of Richmond, passed away November 7, 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Chancellor Devore and Pete E. Devore Sr.; and a sister, Beverly Bradley. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Devore; stepdaughters, Donna, Tammy and Kim; three stepgrandchildren, Alexa, Babi J and Jacob; brother, Allen Devore; sisters, Kim and Pam Devore; aunt, Phyllis Chancellor; nephews, Ryan, Brett, John, Shaun and William; and nieces, Donna and Kim. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and where a funeral service will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment Dale Memorial Park.

DIX
James "Malcolm" Dix Sr., 83, of Richmond, passed away November 7, 2001. He was the husband of the late Dorothy H. Dix and is survived by three children, Eileen Williams, Janie Stembridge and Jimmy Dix Jr. and his wife, Jennifer; also a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Dix was a staff sergeant in the Army during WWII, was retired from Seaboard Coast Line Railroad after 44 years of service and since 1958 had a hobby of recycling newspapers in the Richmond area. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.

FLIPPEN
Ellsworth M. Flippen, 83, of Richmond, passed away November 7, 2001 at Chippenham Hospital after a brave and courageous year-long illness. His will to live will always be with us in our hearts. He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 63 years, Bernice H. Flippen; four children, Shirley, Betty, Sonny and Ralph; daughter-in-law, Lynn; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Howard T. Flippen; one sister, Shirley McLennan; and his two dogs, Buttons and Precious. Mr. Flippen retired from E.I. DuPont after 38 years of service and was a member of Union Local 1434 IBEW. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Virginia National Guard, III Field Artillery for 17 1/2 years. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Chippenham Emergency Room and MICU for their dedicated support of our husband and father, the daily nurses and staff at Care Advantage and Roberts Home Medical. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and where funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday. Interment Maury Cemetery.

GATHERS
James Michael Gathers of Far Rockaway, N.Y., departed this life Thursday, November 1, 2001 at N. General Hospital, N.Y., N.Y. He is survived by an aunt, Audrey J. Braxton of Quinton, Va.; a niece, Tamika Gathers of Queens, N.Y.; nephew, Jamel Gathers of Charlotte, N.C.; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts., where funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, 11 a.m. Rev. Donald Moss, officiating. Interment in Second Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Quinton, Va. Relatives and friends attending funeral services assemble at the funeral home Saturday, 10:30 a.m.

Olivia Scott Green, 73, of Montpelier, Va., passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2001. Preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Lewis Green. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted family: four daughters, Loretta Baylor, Eleanor Wilson, Cinda Green and Cheryl Green; four grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Baylor, Candice and Kelley Green; one great-grandchild, Tatyana; two sons-in-law, Barry Green and Roosevelt Wilson III, one deceased, Benjamin Baylor Jr.; five brothers, Deacon Richard (Nancy) Thomas, Rev. James (Dorothy) Thomas, Rev. Charles (Dora) Thomas, John (Agnes) Thomas and Rev. Sherman (Mary) Thomas; four sisters, Iola (Fred) Evans, Barbara (Edward) Simpson, Linda (Clay) Jones and Agnes Thomas; additional sisters-in-law, Alma Thomas, Octavia Gardner, Rose Green; devoted uncle, Charles (Jeanette) Thomas; and aunts, Martee Thompkins and Agnes Mitchell; a devoted cousin, Olivia Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland, Va., where the family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Friday. HARVILLE
Mary Bosher Harville of Richmond died November 8, 2001. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, George and Louise Bosher; two brothers-in-law, Clinton L. Harville of Hopewell and Charles G. Harville of Petersburg; one sister-in-law, Sarah H. Howerton, of San Diego, Calif.; and many devoted friends. Mrs. Harville was a member of Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (today) and where funeral services will be held 10 a.m Saturday. Departed this life November 6, 2001, Frank Hill, age 69, of St. Stephens Church, Va. He is survived by his wife, Joan Baylor Hill; five daughters, Joyce Hill of Essex County, Naomi Rock, Carolyn Parker, Rosa Hill, Josephine Deloach, all of St. Stephens Church, Va.; four brothers, Ernest, Lawrence, Walker, all of St. Stephens Church, Va. and Ruffin Hill of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Susie Harvey of St. Stephens Church and Mollie Vaughan of Baltimore, Md. The body will lie in state from 12 to 5 p.m. Friday, November 9, at Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at 1st Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Newtown. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, November 10, at 1st Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Newtown, Rev. T. Scott Swan, pastor, officiating, Rev. Robert D. Brown, eulogist. Remains rest at Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock.

HILLMAN
Adolf Franklin (Buddy) Hillman, 77, of Oilville, passed away on November 7, 2001. His memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, Doris P. Hillman; his son, Thomas L. Hillman and wife, Robin; daughter-in-law, Linda D. Hillman; three sisters, Beatrice Seymour of Woodbridge, Emolee Singletary of Parksley and Luthera Massey of Maryland. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard L. Hilllman. He was also a loving grandfather of five, Philip and Katie Hillman, Michelle Wheeler, Bryan Pohl, Kimberly Haugen; and great-grandfather of four, Austin and Brendan Fry, Nichole and Christian Wheeler. He was retired from the Virginia State Police and a former District Deputy Grand Master for the Grand Lodge of Virginia. Remains rest at Norman Funeral Home in Goochland, Va., where the family will receive friends on Friday evening 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside Masonic services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church in Oilville. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or Bethel United Methodist Church.

JACKSON
Joseph Monroe "Moe Joe" Jackson Jr., the son of Elise and Joseph M. Jackson Sr., formerly of 1317 Wallace St. in Richmond, Va., died in Geneva, Switzerland, after a brief illness. He was a 1960 graduate of Maggie L. Walker High School and subsequently graduated from the School of Engineering at Howard University. He was a resident of Richmond, Vermont, on a two year assignment in Germany for the IBM Corporation. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2001 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Shelbourne, Vermont.

JORDAN
Departed this life November 8, 2001, George E. Jordan of Mechanicsville, Va. Remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland. McCarthy, Director.

KELLY
T. Allen Kelly, 56, died Monday, November 5, 2001. He was president of Electrol, a company specializing in industrial automation. He was formerly employed as an electrical engineer for several local companies including Hanson Concrete Pipe and Products. He majored in math at Berkeley and held a number of specialized certificates and licenses including Master Electrician. T. Allen was a musician who performed for several years throughout the U.S. before moving from Dallas to Richmond in the early eighties. He played rhythm guitar and dobro, and served as front man for his bands which locally included the T. Allen Kelly Band. He was a biker who custom built and airbrushed his Harleys and who spent most of his life in the wind. In recent years, he revived earlier interests in SCUBA diving and sailing, and this summer captained his cat ketch Sophie back from the Virgin Islands. He was a Virginia Opera sponsor. He is survived by his wife, Linda Dressler; brothers, David P. Kelly and wife, Sharon, Larry J. Kelly and wife, Susie, Ted Kelly and wife, Laura and Jym E. Kelly and wife, Lee; sisters, Ruth Jacob and Debbie Kelly; a number of nieces and nephews; and many friends. In memory of T. Allen, please consider donating life by becoming an organ donor, or by making a memorial contribution to the Coalition on Organ Donation. Family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of his life on Saturday, November 10, 2001, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at his home in Chesterfield.

MALLORY
Robert V. Mallory of Richmond departed this life Tuesday, November 6, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Gretchen Binder Mallory; and their daughters, Erika of Catskill, N.Y., Evangelina Renovalas Mallory of San Juan, Puerto Rico; and their daughters, Beatriz Mallory Pike of New York City and Greentown, Pa., Lisa Mallory Hodge of Washington, D.C. and Michelle Mallory Parris of Alpharetta, Ga. Also surviving are two granddaughters and a grandson. Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 10, 1 p.m. at Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Mallory's name to the local hospice.
