KAMMETER
Georgie Moon Kammeter, age 82, of Glen Allen, passed this life on April 7, 2001. "Georgie" was the widow of Fred L. Kammeter, her husband of 49 years. Mrs. Kammeter is survived by her son, Robert L. (Linny) Kammeter; and daughter-in-law, Debbie of Glen Allen; two grandchildren, Lori Kammeter Gunn of Chester, Va., and Kevin L. Kammeter, currently attending the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy; two stepgrandchildren, George Moore IV and Dennis Moore, both of Richmond. Mrs. Kammeter was a lifelong member and deaconess of Lakeside Baptist Church. Graveside services are to be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association, P.O. Box 64421, St. Paul, Minn. 55164-9355.

KANE
Robert J. Kane of Penfield, N.Y., formerly of Richmond, Va., died April 8, 2001. Bob is survived by wife, Margaret; daughter, Janice (Richard) Baldwin; son, Richard Kane; two grandchildren, Robert W. Baldwin and Michelle Baldwin; stepsons, James (Peggy) Neill, Thomas (Cindy) Neill, Lawrence (Lynn) Neill, Donald (Charlaine) Neill; stepdaughters, Kathleen (Jim) Miller and Mary Frances Neill; 10 step-grandchildren. Bob was a World War II Army veteran. Friends may call at the Nulton Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Rd., Penfield, N.Y., Tuesday, 2 to 4 p.m., where services will follow at 4 p.m. Interment, Marion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider American Cancer Society.

KAUFMAN
Sam Kaufman passed away Sunday, April 8, 2001. He was born April 14, 1917, the son of the late Nathan L. and Mollie G. Kaufman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice. During WWII he served with the U.S. Navy in Australia. He was a member of Temple Beth El and owner of Kaufman's Clothiers on Williamsburg Rd. A member of Oak Hill Country Club and past member of Jefferson-Lakeside Country Club, Mr. Kaufman was an avid golfer with a love of all sports. He is survived by his loving companion, Ann Piner. Other survivors are his son, Terry and wife, Teresa; two daughters, Margy Shea and husband, Bill and Ilene Hart; three grandchildren, Nicole Mahan, Jodi Burnley and Chrissy Kaufman; two sisters, Gloria Sherman and Ruth Berkanholtz; brother-in-law, Allen Richter and wife, Ann; two nieces, Roslyn Hoffman and Jennifer Richter; two nephews, David Berkanholtz and Alan Hoffman. Services will be held in the chapel at Beth El Cemetery, Forest Lawn, Tuesday, April 10 at 1 p.m.

KENNY
Tommy Kenny, 74, of Front Royal died April 9, 2001. He is survived by three brothers, James Kenny, Robert Kenny, both of Cartersville and Pat Kenny of Amelia; two sisters, June Kent of Richmond and Mary Payne of Powhatan. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan, Va., and where services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Cartersville Cemetery.

KING
Judith E. King, age 56, of 310 Bernie Court, Highland Springs, Va., departed this life April 7, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Charles M. King. She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth King Johnson; stepmother, Doris King; aunts, L. Marie Sampson, Elnora S. Hubbard, Sarah Moore and Mary Sampson; uncle, Stewart L. Sampson; a host of cousins and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. After 12 noon Wednesday, April 11, remains will rest in Fair Oak Baptist Church, 1701 E. Nine Mile Rd., Highland Springs, Va., where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Rev. Jonathan Robinson, pastor. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

LANE
Murray B. Lane Jr. of Richmond, Va., died April 8, 2001. He was born April 16, 1919, in Selma, N.C. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Sandra K. Lane. He was the founding partner in the accounting firm of Lane and Associates and the owner of Holiday Bowl in Chester, Va. He is survived by a son, Richard "Dick" Lane and his wife, Ellen of Yorktown, Va.; a daughter, Meda Lane and her husband, Christopher English of Richmond, Va.; and a sister, Marjorie L. Warren of West Palm Beach, Fla. Mr. Lane was a Navy veteran of WWII, a graduate of Reserve University, class of 1950, and a member of the Rotary. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Noah's Children, 6954 Forest Hill Ave., Richmond, Va. 23225 or Forest View Volunteer Rescue Squad, 8008 Midlothian Turnpike, Richmond, Va. 23225.

MEADE
Sgt. John C. Meade departed this life April 8, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna S. Meade and is survived by his children, Michael Meade, Martha Powers, Dana Walker, Donald Schmidt, William Schmidt, Lillian Miles, Karen and Robert; 8 grandchildren; four brothers, Will, James, Robert, and Joe. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2001 at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to McGuire Veterans Hospice in memory of John C. Meade.

MERRILL
Toby Wing Merrill, widow of Henry Tindall "Dick" Merrill, passed away on March 23, 2001. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 11, at 11 a.m. in Christ Episcopal Church, Mathews, with burial to follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Arrangements by Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews.

MONTGOMERY
Donald L. Montgomery, age 67, of Charles City County, died Monday, April 9, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly D. Montgomery; and his parents, James W. and Alma G. Montgomery. Don was a former sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, a Chesapeake police officer, and a retired sergeant of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. He is survived by his daughter, Marjorie M. Marr; his sons and their wives, James W. and Teresa, Davey L., Jeffrey B. and Debbie, and Matthew C. and Vanessa Montgomery; one sister, Juanita Pilley and brother-in-law, J.D. Pilley; a devoted mother-in-law, Mrs. D.C. Stallings; a niece, Beverly Montgomery; grandsons, Jeffrey, Jamie, Michael, Bryant, Chandler and Chadden; and one great-grandson, Steven. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment Washington Memorial Park.

Departed this life April 5, 2001, Norris (Jay) M. Moore of 8428 Strath Rd. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Frances Moore. He is survived by his loving wife, Monette T. Moore; two sons, Jabarri Gresham and Bee Tee Moore; one sister, Keasha Moore; one brother, Kenneth Moore; devoted grandmother, Agnes Watson; grandfather, Sidney Moore; four aunts, one uncle, several cousins; mother and father-in-law, Rev. and Mrs. John Tyler; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Ollie B. Wells Sr., officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the funeral home, 12:45 p.m. Wednesday.

MORGAN
MORGAN, ALBERTA Deaconess Alberta M. Morgan, 94, of Mechanicsville and formerly of Richmond, went to her heavenly home in the arms of the angels on April 6, 2001, with her devoted niece at her bedside. She leaves behind two brothers, Deacon Harvey Moran Sr. and Aldolphus Moran Jr.; two sisters, Rosa Roane and Mariah Pleasants; several nieces, among them one devoted, Deaconess Virginia Smith; several nephews, among them one devoted, Harvey Moran Jr.; two sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Remains will lie in state Thursday, 12:30 p.m. at Great Hope Baptist Church, 2101 Venable St., where funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Dr. Earl Bledsoe officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.

MORRIS
Mrs. Margaret Moore Venable Morris, age 93, died Thursday, April 5, 2001. She was the daughter of the late James Blythe and Constance Tritton Moore and wife of the late William W. Venable and James W. Morris Jr. A son, W.H. Cabell Venable; a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter; and a brother, J. Blythe Moore III predeceased her. Survivors include a son, William W. Venable of New York; a brother, Temple C. Moore of Roanoke; and a sister, Constance M. Todd of Manakin-Sabot; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including her close caregiver, Craige T. McGeorge of Manakin-Sabot. Stepchildren include James W. Morris III and Philip B. Morris of Richmond, and Stella M. Loftin of Charlottesville. A memorial service will be at 12 noon on April 26, 2001, at Grace and Holy Trinity Church in Richmond with a private interment at Hollywood Cemetery. The West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St., Glen Allen, is handling the arrangements.

OLIVE
Louis T. (Tommy) Olive, 80, of Richmond, formerly of Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands, departed this life April 8, 2001. Mr. Olive was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War and retired from Markel Corp. after 53 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Gorman Olive; son, Louis (Tim) Olive and wife, Yvonne; two granddaughters, Stephanie Louise and Laura Elizabeth Olive; sister, Marie Hunter and her husband, Harry of Westville, N.J.; brother, Theodore Olive of Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands; and brother-in-law, Stuart R. Gorman of Richmond. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad.

RYBITSKI
Dr. Mary J. Rybitski, 37, of Ashland, died April 8, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Karl Oldershaw; two sons, Alaric and Ethan Oldershaw; her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. William Rybitski of Bear Creek, Pa.; two brothers, William Rybitski Jr. of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and Joseph Rybitski of Ashley, Pa.; her great-grandmother, Nellie Zielinski of Bear Creek, Pa.; five nieces and one nephew. Dr. Rybitski was an assistant visiting professor of biology at Randolph-Macon College. She earned a doctorate of marine science at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science. Dr. Rybitski enjoyed mentoring students in the sciences. She was a member of First English Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Virginia Herpetological Society and other professional associations. The family will receive friends at Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at First English Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1603 Monument Ave., Richmond, Va. 23220.

STRECKER
Stephen H. Strecker, age 48, died Saturday, April 7, 2001. He was a baseball coach, an active boater and fisherman and was a much loved family man. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Lee Strecker; daughters, Jennifer Lee Strecker, Virginia Theresa Strecker; son, Jason Leland Strecker; grandchildren, Stephen Christopher Ellis Jr., Rachel Lee Strecker, Cassandra Lynn Yarbrough, Anthony Carter Yarbrough; sister, Cecelia Elizabeth Drybola, Quakertown, Pa.; and brother, Robert Thomas Strecker, Perkasie, Pa. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, where a Christian Wake service will be conducted at 7 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park.

SULLIVAN
Bessie Tate Sullivan of Ashland died Sunday, April 8, 2001. She was the widow of Edward Lewis "Jim" Sullivan. She is survived by her daughter, Anne S. Boyd and son-in-law, Tommy V. Boyd of Ashland; and special and caring friends of the family, Gale Mundy and her husband, Johnnie Mundy of Aylett. Mrs. Sullivan was a past president of the Ashland Rescue Squad Auxiliary and she was honored by being made a life member of the Auxiliary. She retired from Miller and Rhoads. Friends may call at the Reid Funeral Home, 412 South Washington Highway, Ashland, on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ashland Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 667, Ashland, Va. 23005.

SYDNOR
Robert L. Sydnor, age 58, of Mannboro, died Saturday, April 7, 2001. He is survived by a brother and his wife, James A. and Dorothy F. Sydnor of Mannboro; sister-in-law, Louise R. Sydnor of Westfield, N.J.; and a brother-in-law, William D. Allen Jr. of Wilsons. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday for the family at Blandford Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Amelia County Emergency Services.

THORPE
Charles Welford Thorpe Jr. of Richmond died Saturday, April 7, 2001 in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Thorpe was born on July 17, 1917, son of the late Charles W. and Grace L. Thorpe. He was a member of Berryman United Methodist Church. Mr. Thorpe retired from DuPont in 1975 after 35 years of service. He is survived by a sister, Helen T. Miller; a niece, Frances J. Fitzgerald and her husband, Terry A. Fitzgerald; and a great-niece, Tiffany Fitzgerald, all of Richmond. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12. Interment in Maury Cemetery.

TINSLEY
David Milton Tinsley Sr., 90, of Richmond, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2001. Mr. Tinsley was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Marion Tinsley. He is survived by two sons, David Milton Tinsley Jr. and his wife, Pam, James Gary Tinsley and his wife, Judy; one daughter, Rosemary Hoggard and her husband, Jim; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd G. Tinsley and Ezra P. Tinsley; and one sister, Mildred T. Roach. His remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends Monday, April 9, 7 to 8:30 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10 at 12:30 p.m. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
