TRAYLOR
Betty Harding Traylor, 73, of Richmond, departed for her heavenly home April 9, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ryland L. Traylor Jr.; and sister, Helen H. LaFemina. She is survived by three children, Bernie L. Traylor and wife, Marie of Jacksonville, Fla., Monte G. Traylor and wife, Arlene of Currie, N.C., and Jody T. Simpson and husband, Michael of Manakin; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maebelle H. Crump and Barbara H. Caplan; and one brother, Percy B. Harding Jr., all of Richmond. Remains rest at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12. Interment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice or the Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 1701 Cardwell Rd., Crozier, Va. 23039.

TURNER
Taylor Fitz-Hugh Turner Jr, 67, of Richmond, died Monday, April 9, 2001. He was born March 21, 1934 in Greenville, Miss. He was the son of the late Taylor Fitz-Hugh Turner Sr. and Alice Lake Alexander Turner. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Slater Turner, whom he married June 7, 1958; three children, Taylor Fitz-Hugh Turner III and wife, Nancy Dixon Turner, John Penn Turner and partner, Christopher Lee Bradley, Elizabeth Robinnette Turner Wrobel and husband, Jeffrey Scot Wrobel; seven grandchildren, Sallie Penn Turner, Taylor Fitz-Hugh Turner IV, Zachary Elisha Dixon Turner, Nancy Ruth Turner, Jeffrey Scot Wrobel, William Turner Wrobel and Benjamin Stocking Wrobel; and a brother, Alexander Pendleton Turner. He then began his long association with R. Stuart Royer and Associates in 1965 to 1992. Taylor was active in the Consulting Engineers Counsel of Virginia from 1980 to the present. He was elected a Fellow in 1995 with ACEC. Taulor had a love for the outdoors and fishing. Taylor was a member of the Descendents of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence and of the Sons of the American Revolution, and a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church. Prior to his death, Taylor was saved by the grace of God, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This day he is at peace in Heaven with the living God. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to your favorite charity or to a hospice. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, April 12, 9 a.m. at Grace Community Baptist Church, 2400 Pump Rd., Richmond, Va. 23233. A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, April 12, 3 p.m. at Oakhill Cemetery, 1902 Plank Rd., Fredericksburg, Va.

WHITE
Ruth Jones White, 90, went to eternal rest with her Lord Sunday, April 8, 2001. Mrs. White, widow of Rev. Thomas W. White, is survived by her daughter, Judith Pierce and her husband, John; son, Tommy; son, Alan and his wife, Norma; daughter-in-law, Laura; 11 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Monument Heights Baptist Church. Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Elm City, N.C.

Mr. Benjamin Ellis Barnes, 58, of 2105 Fairfax Ave., departed this life, Sunday, July 15, 2001. He leaves to cherish his memories, two sisters, Anne Marie Roberson and Yvonne Henderson of Richmond; five brothers, Wilson Edward Barnes of Tallahassee, Fla., Linwood Harris Barnes of Philadelphia, Pa., Elias Harris, Gary Milton and John Barnes of Richmond; eight nieces, Rose Marie and Reeshida DeEtte Roberson, Terri Lynette Williams, Kimberly Faith, Kay Lynette, Brittney, Bria and Lauren Barnes; two nephews, Tavarous Linwood and Nicholas Elliott Henderson; one brother-in-law, Joseph Roberson; four sisters-in-law, Barbara, Netrel and Chandra Barnes and Rhonda Hokett Henderson; three aunts, Bernetha McCoy, Olivia Lopez and Minnie Chavis; four uncles, James Madison, Irvin, Edward Levi and Daniel Chavis; two devoted friends, Jennie M. Smith and Ella May Brayboy; many cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts., where funeral services will be held, Thursday, July 19, 12 noon. Rev. R. Alexander Chavis officiating. Interment in Maury Cemetery. BRANHAM
A. Larry Branham, 65, of Chesterfield, passed away Monday, July 16, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Betty W. Branham; two daughters, Tracey B. Bew and husband, Dennis and Jennifer B. Wrenn and husband, Steve; one son, Phillip S. Branham, all of Chesterfield; his mother, Audrey C. Branham; three sisters, Sue Williams, Phyllis Woodfin and Charlotte Burden; a brother, James D. Branham, all of Richmond; two grandchildren, Kendall Bew and Kristen Wrenn. Mr. Branham was a retired vice president of Insurance and Personnnel for Overnite Transportation Company. He also served in the U.S. Army. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), where services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, Va. at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gospel Baptist Church, 1300 Turner Rd., Richmond, Va. 23225 or American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

DOTSON
Lottie Hardin Dotson died on Sunday, July 15, at the King Adult Home in Louisa County. She was 91. Prior to her three years at the King Home, she resided in Richmond with her daughter and son-in-law, the Rev. and Mrs. William Wells. Mrs. Dotson, widow of Marine Corps Schools Fire Chief Herman Dotson, had been a resident of the Quantico/Triangle area from 1945 until 1995. She is survived by a son, Don Dotson of Fort Smith, Ark.; a daughter, Marion Wells of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. The family asks that memorial gifts be directed to the King Adult Home, 348 Cuckoo Rd., Louisa, Va. 23093.

DOWDY
Shirley C. Dowdy, 61 of Chesterfield went to be with the Lord, July 17, 2001. She is survived by her husband David G. Dowdy; children, Tammy D. Jones and Anthony D. Dowdy; grandchildren, Robert C. Jones III, Darbi M. Jones, and Wyatt Lee Dowdy; mother, Lillie Terstall; brothers and sister, Cecil Carlton, Joan Lumpkin and Wallace Carlton. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's, Chippenham Chapel 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, followed by interment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

ELLIS
Mrs. Hazel T. Ellis, of 901 Pensacola Ave., died July 14, 2001. Surviving are her husband, Leon Ellis; two daughters, Gladys L. Hawkes and Joyce L. Moseley; two sons, Meridith C. and James H. Lee; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eva Fowlkes, Mary Thompson and Fannie Rather; one brother, George Tucker; one daughter-in-law; two sons-in-law; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; host of other relatives and friends, two devoted, Joseph L. and Lucille Guy. Her remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. After 11 a.m. Thursday, remains will rest at Providence Park Baptist Church, 468 E. GREEN
Mrs. Martha Jane Hart Green, 92, widow of Harry George Green, died July 14, 2001. She was a native of Great Falls, Mont. and a graduate of the University of Washington. She worked for the Chicago Tribune before marriage and volunteered in many capacities throughout her life. She lived in Richmond for the last 11 years, prior to that she was a resident of Lynchburg with her husband, where they were active members of Court Street Methodist Church for 50 years. She is survived by five loving children, Richard B. Green and wife, Nancy of Manassas, Harry G. Green Jr. and wife, Lynn of Richmond, Rogers H. Green and wife, Winston of Lynchburg, Barbara G. Richards and husband, Bill of White Stone and Judi G. Foster and husband, Claude of Richmond. She is also survived by 11 adoring grandchildren, Cathy Green, Brian Green, David Green, Mark Green, Lisa G. Krehbiel, Hart Green, Weymouth McLeod, Martha McLeod, Jeff Foster, Casey Foster and Judson Foster. She will also be missed by five great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at The Hermitage at 1600 Westwood Ave. in Richmond on Friday, July 20 at 2 p.m. A graveside service will be held in Lynchburg Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m. at Fort Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Court Street Methodist Church in Lynchburg or to The Hermitage in Richmond.

GU
Dr. Tianjue Gu, 78, of Richmond, died Sunday, July 15, 2001. Dr. Gu was a very well known biochemist in China. His passions consisted of research and teaching. In his career as a professor, Dr. Gu has published over 80 papers and mentored 21 Ph.D. students and 15 masters students. He is survived by his wife, Jingui Jiang; four children, Xinjia, Xinyi, Xinbin, Xintin and all of their family members. The remains rest at the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street, Glen Allen where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Professor Tianjue Gu Scholarship Foundation, 12000 Burrand Court, Richmond, Va. 23233.

JOHNSON
Jackie Wade Johnson, age 42, of Keysville, died Monday, July 16, 2001. Surviving are her husband, Randy Johnson; daughters, Aimee and Jessica; mother, Christine C. Jones; brother, Jerry Wade; sister, Alyson Jones; grandchildren, Chris and Sarah; mother-in-law, Joyce M. Johnson. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl C. Wade; sons, Chris and Andy. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Mt. Harmony Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

JONES
May Woodall Jones, widow of Malcolm Floyd Jones Sr., departed this life Monday, July 16, 2001. She was born and reared in Richmond, Va., graduated from Westhampton College, and after 30 years retired from teaching kindergarten and First Grade in the Richmond City Schools. She was a member of several bridge groups and was a volunteer at The Virginia Home for 35 years. She is survived by three sons, Malcolm F. Jones Jr. and his wife, Nancy Deaton Jones of Greensboro, N.C., Anthony Harrison Jones Sr. and his wife, Eleanor Pusey Jones of Manassas, Va., and Charles Griffin Jones and his wife, Mary Lou Wyatt Jones of Ann Arbor, Michigan; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a devoted friend, W. Allen Carroll. In lieu of flowers remembrances in her name may be made to The Virginia Home, 1101 Hampton St., Richmond, Va. 23220 or First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 4602 Cary Street Rd., Richmond, Va. 23226. LANDERGAN
Brian Robert Landergan passed away July 17, 2001 at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife, Mary Landergan; sons, Brian, Mark, Kevin and Peter; daughter, Mary Jo Landergan. He was a member of the National Association of Building Sciences. He was a graduate from the University of Minnesota, School of Engineering. He was a retired officer of the U.S. Air Force. Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. Burial private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department or charity of your choice.

LOSCOMB
Charlotte C. Loscomb, of Richmond passed away Monday, July 16, 2001. She was the wife of the late Ronald C. Loscomb and the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret Clarke, formerly of Sandston. She is survived by two daughters, Kimberley L. Vickers and Wendy L. Updegraff; one son, Timothy S. Loscomb (Hooper). "Boss" is also survived by two grandsons, C. Ashton Ayers and Jeremy S. Vickers; one sister, Jean C. Roberts; two nephews, Jeffrey S. Roberts and A. Scott Roberts. She is also survived by many devoted friends including Courtney Berger and Michelle Ledford and her companion, "CoCo". Mrs. Loscomb was a member of Sandston Baptist Church and a former employee of the State of Virginia, Department of Social Services, Division of Child Support Enforcement. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, July 19. Interment Washington Memorial Park

Daniel A. Mantlo Jr. (Buster) went to be with the Lord July 16, 2001, at the age of 71. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise; his daughter, Pamela M. Hardy of Sandston; granddaughter, Angela Hardy Verlander; grandson, John W. Hardy Jr.; and one great-grandson, Peyton Carter Hardy. He is survived by his mother, Mary R. DesRoches and also by William D. (Brother) Spradlin Sr.; a very devoted cousin who was thought of as a brother. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel A. Mantlo Sr. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where services will be held 12 p.m. Thursday. MELTON
Doris Thrift Melton of Richmond died Tuesday July 17, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Melton and her son, Rocky Melton. Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Melton Funderburke; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W.
