CAMPBELL
Harold H. Campbell, 81, widower of Katherine L. "Kitty" Campbell, of Richmond, died December 5, 2001. Survived by his daughter, Brenda Bertozzi; two grandsons, Vincent and his wife, Cherie and Anthony and his wife, Malinda Bertozzi; two great-grandchildren, Brittney and Brenley Bertozzi. Mr. Campbell was a retired purchasing agent for Thalhimers after 40 years of service and a member of the Cofer-Decker-Fellowship Class at First Baptist Church, Lodge of Strict Observance No. 207 AF&AM, Scottish Rite, ACCA Temple Shrine and the Greeters Unit of ACCA Temple, and past commander of American Legion Post 125. Family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where a Masonic memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Central Virginia 7231 Forest Ave., Suite 10, Richmond, Va. 23226.

COOK
Edith Mary Cook, 70, of Richmond, Va., widow of John B. Cook passed away suddenly on December 5, 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters; one son; Cathy Stroebel, Charles Cook, Mary Sprouse, Jane Cook, Rita Cook; two son-in-laws, Scott Strobel and Trey Sprouse; one daughter-in-law, Kathy M. Cook; six grandchildren, Ashley, Bubba, Bryan, John-Wesley, Forrest and Jackson. She will also be greatly missed by many family and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 7 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., Richmond, Va. Services will be held at St. Benedict's Catholic Church on Saturday, December 8 at 12 noon. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

DETTMORE
William Thomas Dettmore, 44, of Mechanicsville, Va., formerly of Syracuse, N.Y., died Wednesday, December 5, 2001. He was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Dettmore and is survived by his wife, Diane Dettmore and his daughter, Jennifer Michelle Dettmore; his sister, Pamela J. Burgess of Syracuse, N.Y. and stepmother, Carol Dettmore of Venice, Fla. Mr. Dettmore was employed in Richmond, Va. by the Noland Co. with six years of service. His remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends Friday, December 7, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8 at Northside Baptist Church. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northside Church Building Fund.

ECKERT
Dorothy H. Eckert died on December 4, 2001 in Rockville, Md. Wife of the late Rev. Frederick Eckert and beloved mother of Dorothy E. Lewis and her husband, Jerry of Denton, Md. Also survivng are two grandchildren, Karen Curington, Miami, Fla. and Jon Eichner, Huntington, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Rosalie Grant, Baltimore, Md. Funeral services will be held at the National Lutheran Home Chapel, 9701 Veirs Dr., Rockville, Md., 20850, at 11 a.m. Monday, Decembr 10. Visitation at 10 a.m. Interment Kriders Cemetery, Westminister, Md. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Lutheran Home.

GUTHRIE
Herman E. Guthrie of Mechanicsville died Thursday, December 6, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Carol Taylor Guthrie; and a brother, Randolph Guthrie. He was a member of the Sheetmetal Workers Local No. 100. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. HICKS
Goode Butterworth Hicks, 86, of Richmond, Va., died on December 6, 2001 following a brief illness. Born April 25, 1915, the seventh of nine children of William Barner and Margaret Rives Butterworth of Butterworth, Dinwiddie County, Va. Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Reuben B. Hicks. Mrs. Hicks is survived by one son, David F. Hicks and his wife, Carla of Dublin, Va. two daughters, E. Rebekah Janowski and her husband, Michael of San Antonio, Texas and Elizabeth G. Hicks of Silver Springs, Md.; five grandchildren, Dr. Margaret Jankowski-Bell, Rebekah G. Hicks, Laura H. Pearce, Douglas M. Janowski and Joseph R. Hicks, USN; and three great-granddaughters. Mrs. Hicks is also survived by her brother, Howard K. "Huck" Butterworth of Richmond. Graveside services will be conducted by the Reverend W. Ray Insoe at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, at the Butterworth Family Cemetery, Dinwiddie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 866, Lawrenceville, Va. 23868. Services provided by the Peterson Chapel of J.T. HUGHES
Departed this life December 4, 2001 Carrol Walter Hughes III Esquire of 7021 Yahley Mill Rd. He was preceded in death by his grand parents Mary and James Lewis Jr. Katherine and Carrol W. Hughes Sr. and uncle Raymond McDaniel. He was Senior Commonwealth Attorney for the City of Richmond. He is survived by one son, Carrol W. Hughes Jr.; brother Antonio L. Hughes; five great-aunts; three great-uncles; host of cousins and other relatives and friends, schoolmates, collegemates and colleagues in the law profession, member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and member of Doc Posse Horse Club, Ruther Glen, Va. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral Saturday 1 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 1900 Rosewood Ave., where remains will lie in state one hour prior funeral time. Rev. Ronnie Fleming, pastor, officiating. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family, friends and organizations assemble at the church 12:45 p.m. Saturday.

JOHNSON
Cullen Johnson, 88, former Director of Safety and Public Relations for the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, died on Tuesday, December 4, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Katharine Harwell Johnson; his daughter, Bobbie Kay Wash and her husband, Rev. Dr. Bill Wash of Hopewell, Va.; two sons, Cullen Oliver Johnson of New York City, N.Y. and Ritchie Winfield Johnson and his wife, Donna of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Michael Pressner, Daniel Pressner, Kaelen Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Sean Johnson, and Sarah Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Brittany Pressner, Ross Pressner, Zanden Hogreluis and Sydney Marohn-Johnson; two sisters, Mace J. Brown of Hickory, N.C. and Evelyn J. McRae of Charlotte, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, one brother, four sisters and a great-grandson all preceded him in death. Cullen was a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church where he was a soloist for over 30 years at the Wednesday noonday services and where he also recorded a record album of gospel hymns. Cullen was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College, an educator, then radio announcer for WRAL in Raleigh, N.C. and later WRNL in Richmond. For many years he hosted a radio program, "The Farmer Speaks," and also a Sunday morning hymn program on WRVA. One of the great joys came later in life when he was one of the Miller & Rhodes Santas. Cullen served on the Governors Safety Commission and was a past president of the First Thanskgiving Festival at Berkeley Plantation. An avid gardener, Cullen loved sharing vegetables with many friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., Friday from 12 to 2 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contibutions may be made to Centenary United Methodsit Church or to Bon Secours Hospice.

JONES
William W. "Skippy" Jones Sr. departed this life December 2, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife, Annie M. Jones; three children, Doris M. (Harry Jr.) Adkins, William Jr. (Carolyn) and Annie J. (James) Sherman; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Maggie (Berkeley) Taylor; sister-in-law, Marie F. Powell; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends, among them neighbors, Norvell Waller, Joyce Booker, and Bessie Murchison. Remains rest at Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmont Avenue. Funeral Saturday 1 p.m. at Little Elam Baptist Church, 8840 Church Lane, Charles City, Va., where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral. Rev. Charlotte M. Harris, Pastor, officiating. KILBOURNE
Jeanne Boley Kilbourne,78, of Hillsville, Va., formerly of Petersburg, widow of Dr. James E. Kilbourne Sr., died Wednesday, December 5, 2001 in Galax, Va. She was born in Lookout, W.Va. and was the daughter of the late Henry Otis and Retta Spicer Selvey Boley. She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. James E. Kilbourne Jr. of Hillsville, Va., Richard B. Kilbourne of Chester and Mark S. Kilbourne of Jacksonville, Fla.; and seven grandchildren, Carrie, Jennifer, Jason, Matthew, Alison, Jared and Joe. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Richmond, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

LATTIS
Stanley R. Lattis, died in a local hospital on Wednesday, December 5, 2001. He was a retiree of Ford Motor Company District Sales Office. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Ireton Council No. 6189 and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Edward's Catholic Church. He was also a Rosary maker. He was a member of the board of directors of Shepherd Center and was an avid golfer at Stonehenge Country Club. He was born in Colesburg, Ky., son of Frank and Theresa Lattis. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Loretta Dicken Lattis; his two sisters, Leona Gambert and Evelyn Lattis, both of Louisville, Ky.; his three children, Mark Lattis and his wife, Irene, Ruth Lewis and her husband, Robert and Jane Mihalcoe and her husband, John III; seven grandchildren, Melanie Boggs, Melissa Boggs, Emily Lattis, John Mihalcoe IV, Jessica Mihalcoe, Cheryl Mihalcoe and Raymond Lattis. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (today) with a prayer service at 6 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held 12 noon Saturday, December 8, at St. Edward's Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. McBRIDE
Jesse Willard McBride, 86, of the Masonic Home, died Tuesday, December 4, 2001. Mr. McBride was born in Danville but lived in Richmond most of his adult life. He is survived by two daughters, Martha M. Phipps and Sue M. Kitt; four grandchildren, Robin Milligan, Maggie and John David Kitt and Matthew Phipps. Mr. McBride was the founder of McBride's Steakhouse and owner from 1949 to 1969. He was a Mason for over 50 years and a member of Midlothian Masonic Lodge No. 211 AF&AM. In 1980, he started the Eastern Henrico Kiwanis Club. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. Funeral service with Masonic memorial rites will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the Masonic Home, 4101 Nine Mile Rd. Interment Maury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Memorial United Methodist Church on Nine Mile Rd.

MOWBRAY
Florence W. "Peggy" Mowbry of Charlottesville, Va., died December 6, 2001 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was 77 years old. She is survived by three sons, James Edward Wheeler, Garth Lynn Wheeler, both of Hanover County and Michael Eugene Mowbray of Charlottesville. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Christopher Garth Wheeler, Charles T. Wheeler, Steven M. Wheeler, Elizabeth A. Wheeler, Matthew R. Mowbray and Sara E. Mowbray. She is also survived by her ex-husband and best friend, Henry Garth "Punkey" Wheeler, formerly of Charlottesville. Peggy and Punkey have remained devoted to each other throughout their lives. Peggy was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family. She was a member of the Rebekah's Lodge 27, and the Virginia Beach Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, December 8, at Woody Funeral Home, Shady Grove Rd. in Mechanicsville, Va. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday at Monticello Cemetery on Rte. 53 in Charlottesville, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

MULDOWNEY
Reverend James Dollard Muldowney, age 75, former pastor of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Middleburg, Va. and Sacred Heart of Jesus, Winchester, Va., died December 4, 2001 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Center, Virginia Beach, Va. He is survived by one brother, Paul Dennis Muldowney, Hagerstown, Md. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita M. Copley and Sister Elizabeth Muldowney, O.S.B.; and one brother, Thomas Muldowney. The family will receive friends at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Middleburg, Va., on Sunday evening, December 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. with Rosary services at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2001, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Winchester, Va. The family requests that contributions be made to the Priest Retirement Fund of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, Suite 704, 200 N. Glebe Rd., Arlington, Va. 22203.

O'DELL
Donna Pearl O'Dell, 89, passed away December 5, 2001. She was the wife of the late Curl O'Dell. She is survived by her daughters, Norma Sears, Doritha Simmons and Shirley Vance; and a son, Danny O'Dell; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Grove Avenue Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle, W.Va. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, W.Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Road, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

PARKER
Doris Pollard Parker, of Newark, N.J., departed this life on November 21, 2001. A native of Richmond, Va., she was preceded in death by her parents, James B. and Irene H. Pollard and two brothers, Bowling C. and William L. Pollard. She is survived by one sister, Naomi Pollard Roane; eight nephews, Willie, Herbert, Joseph, Larry, Bowling Jr., Leonard, Roland and Kenneth; two nieces, Cassie S. Roane and Doris R Graham; several great-nephews and nieces. Private services will be held for the family only. W.S Watkins & Son Funeral Home.

PEAY
Audrey Massey Peay of Richmond, died Wednesday, December 5, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Sarah Evans Massey and Anthony T. Massey of Richmond and was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, J.H. Binford Peay Jr., a former senior vice president of the Life Insurance Co. of Virginia and a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. Mrs. Peay is survived by two sons, Evan Massey Peay of Richmond and retired Gen. J.H. Binford Peay III and his wife, Pamela of Clifton, Va.; two grandsons, 1st Lt. James H.B. Peay IV and Ryan Nelson Peay; her sister, Anna Massey DeVilbiss; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Ansted, W.Va. on November 18, 1905, Mrs. Peay moved with her family to Richmond at a very early age. She grew up in Ginter Park and also raised her own family there. Mrs. Peay was a graduate of Collegiate School in 1923 and Westhampton College in 1927, where she was a member of the Boatwright Society. She was a former member of the Ginter Park Woman's Club, Ginter Park Garden Club and the Deep Run Hunt Club. She was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday December 10. Interment immediately following in the family plot at Hollywood Cemetery. Viewing will be at Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave. from 3 to 5 p.m. December 8 and 9, 2001. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial gifts be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Westminster Canterbury, or the Massey Cancer Foundation.
