RICHARDSON
Departed this life December 3, 2001, Mr. Berkeley W. "Berk" Richardson Sr. of 1714 Watts Lane. He is survived by his wife, Annie Mae Richardson; children, Rodney N. Murray and Erica D. Richardson, both of Richmond, Berkely Jr., Melvin and Tammie Richardson, all of Alexandria, La.; foster son, Sylvester Hunter; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Boryphie (Lossie) and Foster Richardson; three sisters, Thelma Huffam, Ellen Yates and Florine (Henry) Battle; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; other relatives and friends, among them devoted friend, James Ready. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Remains will lie in state Saturday 10 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Rev. Patrick Jones officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.

RUTLEDGE
Louise Faudree Rutledge, 90, of Chase City, died December 5, 2001. Born in Richmond, Va., she was the daughter of the late Etta Roberts Wright Faudree and James Calvin Faudree. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of the American Contract Bridge League. She was the widow of William Thomas Rutledge and is survived by her son, W. Thomas Rutledge Jr. of Charleston, S.C.; sister, Betty Faudree Taylor of Richmond. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rutledge Family Cemetery at Green Cove Farm with the Rev. Gay Lynn Tonelli officiating. The family will receive friends at her residence in Chase City at all times and after the funeral service at the Rutledge family home near the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Spay and Neuter All Pets Society (SNAPS), P.O. Box 191, Chase City, Va. 23924, or any animal charity, or a charity of your choice. Wood Funeral Service, Chase City, is in charge of arrangements.

SIMPSON
Sarah Glass Simpson of Richmond died Tuesday, December 4, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ralph H. Simpson Sr.; daughter, Ann Simpson Scott and her husband, Hil Scott and their children, Hannah and Ethan; son, Rick Simpson and his wife, Gina Martin and their children, Eliza and Malcolm; sisters, Mildred Glass Olsen of St. Paul, Minn., Mabel Herman Stroud and Mary Glass Waters of Richmond; and brothers, Gordon Glass and John Hunter Glass of Dewitt, Va. Sarah's memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Edward S. Martin Jr. and Bishop R. Kern Eutsler at 2 p.m. Friday, December 7 at Ginter Park Methodist Church at Seminary and Laburnum Avenues. The family will be receiving guests in the Parlor following the service.

SMITH
Norma Frances Smith departed this life Tuesday, December 4, 2001 at Chippenham Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Freddie Smith Sr.; three sons, Freddie Jr., Jeffrey Orlando and Kevin Lamonte Smith; four grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. STURDIVANT
Shelton Roy (Turk) Sturdivant, of Rivermont Rd., Chester, died Wednesday, December 5, 2001 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in Petersburg, Va. Mr. Sturdivant served with the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a retired electrician for Hercules, Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon L. and Fannie L. Sturdivant and the widower of Clara Lyttle Sturdivant. Surviving are his daughter, Cynthia S. Kotrady and her husband, Don of Marble Falls, Texas; three grandchildren, Kim, Tim and Jason Connors; three great-grandchildren. The family will recieve friends this evening, December 7, 2001, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2001, in the Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, with the Rev. Dr. Ron Bullis, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 1107 W. Broadway, Hopewell, Va. 23860 or your favorite charity.

SZUCHY
Cora Nixon LLewellyn Szuchy, 89, of Chesterfield and Amelia went to be with the Lord December 5, 2001. She is preceded in death by Ernest Lee Llewellyn and Mike Szuchy; and a son, Robert McClane Llewellyn. Left to cherish her memory, two sons, Billy Lee Llewellyn and wife Nan, and Ernest Nelson Llewellyn and wife Patsy; one daughter, Maxine Llewellyn Bloomer and husband Bill; daughter-in-law, Doris O. Llewellyn; 14 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 stepgreat-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd. where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery, Amelia, Va.

VETTER
Harry Vetter, 82, of Crozier, Va., formerly of Merrick and Great River, N.Y., departed this life on December 6, 2001. Mr. Vetter was a U.S. Naval Veteran of WWII. He was employed for 34 years at Airborne Instruments Laboratory, New York, as manufacturing operations superindentant. He is the beloved husband of 60 years of Muriel C. Vetter; loving father of Keith and wife, Ingrid Vetter of Crozier, Jill and husband, Thomas Zidar of Crozier and Kevin and wife, Karen Vetter of Pocono Lake, Pa.; grandfather of Sarah and Sean Vetter and Daniel and Mary Zidar; stepfather of Keith Zoll of Savannah, Ga., Kevin Zoll of Powhatan, Va. and Margo Flohr of Severna Park, Md.; also nine stepgreat-grandchildren; brother of Jospeh and wife, Terry Vetter; brother-in-law of Ruth Vetter, all of New York and Nancy and James McCormick of Culpeper, Va. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. Services and interment private.

WALSH
Ethel Wilson Walsh, age 95, of Richmond, departed this life Wednesday, December 5, 2001. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Joyce W. and Jack F. Paschall of Hanover, Va., a son and his wife, John W. and Flora Walsh of Georgetown, In; grandchildren, Dr. J. Alan Paschall, Linda P. Norris, Janet and John Jr. Walsh; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Christopher Paschall, Michael Norris, John III, Casey and Alexis Walsh. Mrs. Walsh was retired from Miller and Rhodes department store, and was a member of Chamberlayne Heights United Methodist Church. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Avenue, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday (today), and where funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Chamberlayne Heights United Methodist Church, 6100 Chamberlayne Road Richmond, Va. 23227.

WOODWARD
Dr. Robert F. Woodward Sr., 80, well-known retired Baptist minister, of Richmond, died on Thursday, December 6, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Nelson Woodward; his sons, Robert F. Woodward Jr., Pasadena, Md., Peter N. Woodward and his wife, Robin Booe of Richmond; Jonathan R. Woodward, Fredericksburg, Va.; his daughter, Claire W. Wiles and her husband, Robert A. Wiles of Alexandria; two grandsons, Austin P.T. Wiles of Alexandria and Lee B. Woodward of Mount Dora, Fla. A native of Winston-Salem N.C., Dr. Woodward was graduated from Wheaton College, Wheaton, Ill. and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky. He began his ministry in 1949, serving as pastor of First Baptist Church, Princess Anne, Md. From 1952-1974, he was pastor of First Baptist Church, Frederick, Md. and from 1974-1986 he was pastor of First Baptist Church, Winchester, Va. Since retiring to Richmond in 1986, his interim pastorates have included the following Richmond Baptist Churches: Bon Air, Derbyshire, Ginter Park (twice), Huguenot Road and Winfree Memorial. He also commuted to interims at Thalia Lynn, Virginia Beach, McLean Baptist, McLean and Colonial Beach, Colonial Beach, Va. After many years of service on numerous boards and committees at the local, state and national levels, he was at the time of his death serving as president of the Virginia Baptist Historical Society for his second term and as the first president of the Board of Directors for the Center for Baptist Heritage and Studies, both in Richmond. He was a member of River Road Church, Baptist, Richmond, where a memorial service will be held Monday, December 11, at 1 p.m. After the service the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall. In addition, the family will receive friends on Sunday, December 9, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the parlor of River Road Church, Baptist, 8000 River Rd., Richmond, In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the River Road Church Endowment Fund, the Robert F. Woodward Scholarship Fund of Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, or a charity of your choice.

ADAMS
Sharon Howard Adams, 57, of Manakin-Sabot, died Tuesday, September 18, 2001. She is survived by two sisters, Carole H. Kiessling of Lake Zurich, Ill. and Lynn H. Peery of Manakin-Sabot; a brother, Robert H. Howard of Aberdeen, Scotland; stepmother, Shirley W. Howard of Newport News; nephew and nieces, Troy A. Peery III, Casey L. Peery, Amy A. Kiessling, and Susan A. Kiessling. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her brother, William J. Howard. She was a teacher for 25 years, 17 of those in the Hanover County Public School System. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday. Interment Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2720 Enterprise Parkway, Richmond, Va., 23294, or the Hanover Humane Society, Inc., Ashland, Va.

ASHWORTH
Mr. Norman W. Ashworth Jr., age 74, retired farmer of Chase City, died Wednesday, September 19, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Ruth M. Ashworth; one son and daughter-in-law, Tinker and Diane Ashworth; two sisters, Ida Mildred Callahan and Ardell Turner; two brothers, Lewis J. Ashworth and Uriel Ashworth; two grandchildren, Chad and Tyler Ashworth, all of Chase City; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Davis Funeral Home, Chase City, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, September 21 with the Reverend David Blakely officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to a charity of your choice.

William Beckett, 98, of Crozier, Va., a retired railroad employee, departed this life Wednesday, September 19, 2001. Remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home (new facility), Goochland, Va. Funeral notice later.

Departed this life September 18, 2001, Virginia Bohanan of Bumpass, Va. Remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland. McCarthy, director.

BOX
Dr. John David Box, 42, of 1018 Heth Place, Winchester, Va., died Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at his residence. Dr. Box was born on August 19, 1959 in Birmingham, Ala., the son of the late Joseph Lee and Jane Cunningham Box. He was an Ophthalmologist for nine years at Winchester Medical Center. Dr. Box was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a private pilot, a member of Winchester Country Club, the Surgery Center Board, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Order of the Arrow, and the lead singer and guitarist for the group "Forgivin." He was a graduate of Indian Springs High School and University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and his M.D. Dr. Box married Betty Schutte on July 22, 2001 in Winchester, Va. Surviving with his wife is a son, Christopher Box of Winchester; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Schutte of Winchester; a stepson, Clay Schutte of Winchester; two sisters, Lee Kindberg of Charlotte, N.C. and Betsy Box of Atlanta, Ga.; and a twin brother, Bill Box of Hoover, Ala. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Rich Reifsnyder officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Neal Crowe, M.D., Jim Rittelmyer, M.D., William Quarles, Chip Blake, Tom Marfing, M.D., Jack Carter, M.D., Hunter Hurt, and Andy Hinsley. Memorial contributions may be made to The Bedford School, 5665 Milam Rd., Fairburn, Ga., 30213.

BRICCHI
Mrs. Rosemarie Bricchi, 63, of Jarratt, died Tuesday, September 18, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Carmine Bricchi; one daughter, Maria Saunders of Colonial Heights, a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve; and one brother, Alphonse Cimino of Babylon, N.Y. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. Friday at St. Richard's Catholic Church preceding a Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m.

CLINE
Louis Decker Cline, 79, of Richmond, died September 18, 2001. Mr. Cline was retired from Babcock and Wilcox in Lynchburg, Va. He is survived by his wife, Katherine B. Cline; daughter, Kathleen C. Scott; sons, Louis Decker Cline II and Lawrence William Cline; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Belmont United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 7065, Richmond, Va. 23221.
