Joseph "Frank" Allen Sr. of 815 Parrish St. died March 15, 2001. Surviving are three sons, Joseph F. Jr., Eric Tyrone and Kevin Keith Allen; one daughter, Justine M. Allen; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; mother, Phonia Allen; two sisters, Gertrude Minor and Eleanor Johnson; aunts, uncles, two daughters-in-law, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where the family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12 noon. Rev. Ophelia Gaston officiating. Interment Greenwood Memorial Garden.

ANDERSON
Lura S. Anderson, of Midlothian, Va., died March 16, 2001. She is survived by a sister, Ann Crumpler and her husband, James of Chester; two sisters-in-law, Lois Fesperman and Loni Huff of North Carolina; and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Anderson was retired from C&P Telephone after 35 years of service. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m, with interment in Dale Memorial Park.

ATKINS
Martha W. Atkins, 89, of Dunbrooke, died Sunday, March 18, 2001. She was the widow of Herman C. Atkins. She is survived by her three sons, Gerald C. Atkins of Heathsville, Vaughan J. Atkins of Aylett and Channing G. Atkins of Dunbrooke; four grandchildren, Gerald C. Atkins Jr. of Mechanicsville, Michael W. Atkins of Aylett, Charles Jay Atkins of Tappahannock and Hollie Atkins Foster of Chesterfield; four great-grandchildren, Gerald C. Atkins III, Christina Atkins, Michael Atkins and Corey Atkins. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Marks Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

BEADLES
Ethel Hawks Beadles, 89, of Richmond, died Sunday, March 18, 2001. She was the widow of Linton Smith Beadles, and is survived by her sister, Margaret H. Vest of Waynesboro, Va.; a daughter, Margaret B. Tucker of Richmond; a son, Richard L. Beadles of Manakin-Sabot; four grandchildren, Deborah G. Tennent and Dabney B. Robinson of Mechanicsville, Timothy J. Tucker of Chesterfield Co., and Donna G. Andreasen of Rochester Hills, Mich.; as well as six great-grandchildren, Ashley P. Tennent, Timothy J. Tucker Jr., Adam Carter Robinson, Peyton Shaw Robinson, Matthew Howard Tucker and Callie Rose Robinson, all of Richmond. A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, Mrs. Beadles life was enriched and sustained by the love and fellowship of Congregations at Ettrick, Oakland and St. Luke's United Methodist Churches. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where members of the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 19. Private graveside services will be held in Dale Memorial Park 10 a.m. Tuesday, with a memorial service at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 4101 Fordham Rd. (360W), Richmond, Va. 23236 at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Luke's Church at the above address.

BOSLEY
Sophie C. Bosley entered into eternal life March 16, 2001. She was born September 25, 1908 in Baltimore, Md. to Clarence Bosley and Florence George Bosley. She is survived by several cousins and many devoted friends. She was associate director of Gateway Nursery School in Montclair, N.J. A memorial service will be held at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, where she was a faithful member. Instead of flowers you may make a contribution to a charity of your choice or Overbrook Presbyterian Church. For date of memorial service, please call Overbrook Presbyterian Church. Interment private.

BROWN
Tate Harvey Brown, retired textile executive and founder of Medical Textiles, Inc., died March 18, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Thursey Hudgens; daughters, Bertha Harper of Bracey, Dorothy Hodges of Richmond and Peggy Allen of Scottsburg; sons, Paul of South Hill and Merrill of Canada; brothers, James of Birmingham, Ala., Odis of Jacksonville, Ala. and Willie of Anniston, Ala.; 12 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Gordon of Colorado Springs, Colo. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20 in Crestview Memorial Park, South Hill, Va.

BRYANT
Ores S. Bryant, of Richmond, died Saturday, March 17, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Mae Belle; a son, Daniel Bryant; a daughter, Bette Satterwhite; a brother, Charles Aubrey Bryant of Maryland; a daughter-in-law, Ella C. Bryant; and a son-in-law, Ray Satterwhite. Mr. Bryant was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a retired supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service with 30 years of service and a WWII Navy veteran. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Lupus Foundation, Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Ave. or the charity of your choice.

CLARK
Departed this life March 17, 2001, Mr. Paul Edward Clark Sr. of Quinton, Va. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

Eldridge "Buck" F. Claud, age 75, died March 16, 2001. A memorial service will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, 305 Lombardy St., Monday (today), March 19, at 11 a.m. Contributions may be made to the Massey Cancer Center, MCV Foundation, P.O. CLAYTON
Traekwon Lakece Clayton departed this life March 14, 2001. He leaves to cherish his loving parents, Tameka Daniel and Bruce Clayton; two brothers, Teric and Tieric Brooks; three grandmothers, and two great-grandmothers, a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery. Family and friends kindly assemble at 12 Noon at Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave.

COCKRELL
Haywood Clark (H.C.) Cockrell, 85, of Richmond, former CEO of Virginia Bonded Warehouse Corp. and H.C. Cockrell Bonded Storage Co., died Friday, March 16, 2001 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his son, Haywood Clark Cockrell Jr. of Richmond; two daughters, Ann Brown Gregory of Westport, Conn., and Holly Pembroke of Richmond; two sisters, Virginia Garrett of Wilmington, N.C., and Mary Lee Weekley of Virginia Beach, Va.; eight grandchildren, Ann Rawlings Harrell of Alexandria, Va., Claire Cockrell Cole of Richmond, Liza Rawlings of Darien, Conn., Katherine Meade Berkeley of Raleigh, N.C., Haywood Clark Cockrell III, John Curran Neal, Sarah Pettit Neal and Christopher Andrews Pembroke, all of Richmond; and four great-grandchildren. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Hollywood Cemetery. H.C., as he was known by his many friends was born in Wilmington, N.C., August 15, 1915. His family moved to Norfolk, Va., when he was a young boy. He attended Maury High School in Norfolk and Fork Union military Academy in Fork Union, Va. He began his career at Security Storage on Norfolk's waterfront. He then worked for D.E. Taylor Co., where he became interested in the storage and distribution business. In 1941, he moved to Richmond, which he thought was a better location for Mid-Atlantic distribution. During WWII, he was employed by Richmond Waterfront Terminals and the Defense General Supply Center. In 1943, he rented a building at 9th and Cary Sts. and started his own firm. In 1945, he relocated his flourishing business to 12th and Dinwiddie Sts. in south Richmond. In 1959, he purchased his main competitor, Virginia Bonded Warehouse Corp. and relocated his entire business to Deepwater Terminal Rd. In 1957, he was president of Associated Warehouse's Inc., a national trade organization. He was a member of the South Richmond Rotary Club, The Country Club of Virginia, the Commonwealth Club. He was a former member of Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach, the Ponte Vedra Club in Ponte Vedra, Fla., the Delray Beach Club in Delray Beach, Fla., and the Pine Tree Golf Club in Boynton Beach, Fla. He was also president of the National Tobacco Festival in 1963, and he served on the Board of Directors of Jefferson National Bank. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fork Union military Academy or a charity of your choice.

CRAIGIE
Nancy Boyer Craigie, 53, of Richmond, died Friday, March 16, 2001. She is survived by her sons, F. Willson Craigie III and Walter Preston Craigie, both of Richmond; her parents, Dr. William Preston Boyer and Norma Secrest Boyer of Virginia Beach; brother, Dr. William Preston Boyer Jr. of Harrisonburg; and sister, Ashley Robinson of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Craigie was a member of the Junior League of Richmond, The Woman's Club, a board member of the Annabelle R. Jenkins Foundation, and was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, March 19 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Interment will be private in Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Annabelle R. Jenkins Foundation or the Junior League of Richmond.

CRANOR
John Edward Cranor Sr., 85, of Chesterfield, died Saturday, March 17, 2001. Mr. Cranor was a retired roofer from NW Martin Brothers Roofing and was a member of Bellwood Baptist Church. He was the widower of Dorothy E. Cranor, and is survived by his son, John E. Cranor Jr. and his wife, Sonja; two daughters, Sandra Mitchell and Barbara Lewis and her husband, Al; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Eldridge V. Cranor and James M. Cranor. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Frank Caudle officiating. Interment will follow at Bermuda Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

DAVIS
Willie T. (Lil-Man) Davis Jr. of 2635 Midlothian Turnpike, Apt. 5, died March 18, 2001. Remains rest at the Carlton T. Brooks Funeral Home, 2200 Hull St. Funeral notice later.

EBERHARDT
Departed this life March 15, 2001, Charles Lee Eberhardt of 613 Savannah Ave. He is survived by two sisters, Bessie Eberhardt Robinson and Mary Alice Harrison; four brothers, John, Henry, Westley and Clifford Eberhardt; one aunt, Lena Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, among them, Regina E. Ford and cousins; one sister-in-law, Dorethea Eberhardt; two brothers-in-law, Charles Robinson and Nathaniel Harrison; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. James Ryan officiating. Internment Woodland Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the funeral home 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.

ELAM
Jessica Wise Elam (June 25, 1910 to March 9, 2001) passed away March 9, 2001 in Tucson, Ariz. Prior to moving to Tucson, she was a Sierra Vista resident for 15 years. Born in Buena Vista, Va., Jessica is the daughter of John and Julia Wise. The early years of her life were spent in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. In 1935, she married Charles R. Elam Jr. and moved to Richmond, Va. World War II was the beginning of a military career for Charles and Jessica. She was a dedicated Army wife, enjoying his career and their travels. A loving wife and mother, she made a home wherever her husband's assignments took them. They were blessed with 39 years of marriage. Her husband, Lt. Col. Charles R. Elam Jr. preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Lt. Col. Charles R. Elam III; her daughter, Elizabeth E. Munroe and her husband, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Gary W. Munroe Sr.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Interment and private services will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Huachuca Museum Society, P.O. Box 0673, Sierra Vista, Ariz. 85636-0673.

GASKIN
Phyllis Brewer Gaskin died at her home on Friday, March 16, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Willett Reed and Ethel Myers Brewer and is survived by her husband of 42 years, John Gaskin; daughter and son-in-law, Susan G. and Dwight Lee Haden of Richmond; son and daughter-in-law, Paul Stephen Gaskin, USN and Lt. Tonie Edwards-Gaskin, USN, of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, James Harwood, Sarah Elizabeth and Alexander Keefe Haden and Stephen Daniel and Stephanie Donya Edwards; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Brewer and Linwood Carl Shelton of Portsmouth; nephew, Linwood Scott Shelton of Arlington; niece, Phyllis Shelton and husband, James Hunter Higginbotham II of Altavista; grandniece, Margaret (Meg) Elizabeth Higginbotham; three grandnephews, James Hunter III, Edwin Massie and Sumner Shelton Higginbotham. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, West Huguenot Rd. and Woodmont Dr. Interment of ashes will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery, London Blvd. and Peninsula Ave., Portsmouth. Mrs. Gaskin was born October 6, 1923 in Portsmouth and was a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman's College, class of 1945. She was employed by IBM Corporation in Norfolk from 1945 through 1958. From 1975 until her retirement in 1988, she was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. The family is being served by the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave.

Samira S. Haddad, 84, of Richmond, Va., departed this life March 17, 2001. She was the widow of Benny D. Haddad. She is survived by her children, Liliane H. Hadaya, Abla H. Khalife, Joseph B. Haddad, M.D.; and her sister, Minerva S. Audi. Also survived by her loving sons-in-law, Antoine Hadaya and Sami Khalife; and her grandchildren, Karine A. Hadaya, M.D., Tania H. Martin Achard, Cherine A. Hadaya, Raya S. Khalife, Karim S. Khalife, Zena S. Khalife, Leila M. Haddad, Benny J. Haddad; and her great-grandchildren, Guillaume Martin Achard and Myrna Martin Achard. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends Wednesday, 5 to 7 p.m., and where a Christian wake will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, PO Box 6359, Glen Allen, Va. 23058-6359.
