SATTERWHITE
Georgie Parsley Satterwhite, 93, of Richmond, died Saturday, March 17, 2001. She was preceded in death by two sons, Alfred E. and George L. Satterwhite; was the widow of Alfred L. Satterwhite, and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Floyd E. and Alma L. Satterwhite; five grandchildren, Gail, Eddie, Lois, Floyd Jr. and Mayme; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Mrs. Satterwhite was a member of Pine St. Baptist Church for over 60 years, a Gold Star Mother, having lost one of her sons during World War II, and a retired machine operator with Liggett & Meyers Tobacco Company.

SIMS
Helen Bolling Sims of Goochland, Va., departed this life March 15, 2001. She was preceded in death by three children, Herman Sims Jr., Ethel Marie Sims and Juanita Elizabeth Clarke. She is survived by her devoted husband of sixty years, Herman Sims; daughter, Joyce S. Brice (James) of Goochland; three sons, Robert L. (Leala) of Richmond, James (Constance) of Cartersville and Caleb (Theresa) Sims of Goochland; 29 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Garrett and Ida Taylor; two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland, where the family will receive friends Monday, March 19, from 7 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Goochland. Pastor Bruce Claiborne, officiating. Interment church cemetery.

Easter A. (Zenia) Smith of Ruther Glen, Va., departed this life March 16, 2001. She leaves to cherish her lovely memories, her devoted children, Roney and Bruce Smith of Richmond, Eric Wilfred and Elvis Smith of Ruther Glen; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; three daughters-in-law, Angie, Vonda and Sherrie Smith; a devoted friend of Bruce and family, Alicia Hancock; one brother, Genie Smith of Ruther Glen; one sister, Clara Washington of Richmond; five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, four aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including devoted friends, Mrs. Marie Foxx, Mrs. Doris Thomas and Mrs. Frances Pleasant. Remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland, where the family will receive friends 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday. Funeral services 12 Noon Tuesday at Jericho Baptist Church, Ruther Glen. Rev. Glen Leverette officiating. Interment church cemetery. McCarthy, Director.

TRACEY
James Richard Tracey, 76, of Quinton, passed away peacefully at home with his family Saturday, March 17, 2001, St. Patrick's Day. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Tracey. He is survived by his two daughters, Patricia Ankrom and her husband, James of Quinton, and Kitty Jo Sibayan of Texas; two sons, James L. Tracey of Illinois, and David A. Tracey of Alexandria; four granddaughters, seven grandsons, and one great-grandson. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Catholic Church, Highland Springs, at a later date. Nelsen Funeral Home, helping the family with arrangements.

TUCKER
Departed this life March 15, 2001, Miss Brenda Jean Tucker of 504 Hunt Ave. She is survived by one son, Larry Alfonza Tucker; mother, Irene Smith Tucker; one brother, Calvin; four sisters, Linda, Diane, Irene and Darlene; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where funeral services will be held Tuesday, 3:30 p.m. Dr. Milton J. Hunt officiating. Further services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m. at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, Va. Burial church cemetery.

VAUGHAN
Cecelia Harlow Vaughan, 85, of Richmond, widow of Leo F. Vaughan, died Saturday, March 17, 2001. She is survived by her sister, Mary I. Harlow; and her cousin, Olivia K. Lucas, both of Richmond. Mrs. Vaughan was retired from Philip Morris. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20 in Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Rd., Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

WALLERSTEIN
Benjamin Albert Wallerstein, age 91, died Sunday, March 18, 2001. He had been a lifelong resident of Richmond, leaving only to go away to attend the University of Pennsylvania and serving during WWII in the U.S. Navy in Norfolk. He was the president and founder of Wallerstein Insurance Agency and was in the insurance industry for over 50 years. He was a lifelong member of Temple Beth Ahabah, Jefferson Lakeside Country Club and the Richmond Jewish Community Center. He was active in the community throughout his life and with his beloved wife, Diane, studied many courses at VCU in later life. She preceded him in death in 1998. Mr. Wallerstein is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Irving Miller of Atlanta; and son, Jim Wallerstein of Richmond. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, David and Scott Miller of Atlanta; and Pam Wallerstein of Richmond. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, at Hebrew Cemetery. The family requests any contributions be made to the Cardiac Consorteum at the Medical College of Virginia or Temple Beth Ahabah.

WATKINS
Maggie Elizabeth Watkins, departed this life on March 16, 2001. She is survived by two sons, Julian and Harvey B. Watkins; three daughters, Lethia R. Brown, Lois W. Kirkland and Hazel W. Garrett, both of Baltimore, Md.; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; sister, Dora White of Dillwyn, Va.; two sons-in-law, Garland Garrett and James A. Brown Sr.; two daughters-in-law, Constance and Carol Watkins; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 1 p.m. from Baptist Union Baptist Church, Buckingham Co. Interment church cemetery. Remains will rest in church one hour prior to service.

WOODFIN
Mr. James E. (Butch) Woodfin Jr., 72, of Richmond, went to be home with the Lord on March 18, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Mae) Woodfin; four children, Lewis Woodfin, Faye Moltz, Brian Woodfin and Vickie Holton; his mother, Evelyn Woodfin; one sister, Carolyn Hicks; two brothers, Stanley (Bubba) Woodfin and Ronald (Casey) Woodfin and his wife, Shirley; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends Monday and Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment Greenwood Memorial Park.

ANDERSON
Claude A. (Andy) Anderson, of Richmond, passed away March 3, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Judy Anderson; son, William Anderson of Richmond; daughter, Sue Anderson of Idaho; three grandchildren, Brandon, Andy, and Bridgett; stepdaughter, Patricia Jobson. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Virginia, 5540 Falmouth St.

BALSLEY
Barry S. Balsley of Hadensville, Va., died March 2, 2001. He is survived by one daughter, Tabatha Balsley; his parents, Billy and Arvonna Balsley; three sisters, Donna Morrison, Nancy Trice and Wynita Sharp; two brothers, James and Alan Balsley; five nieces, seven nephews and two great-nephews. Remains rest at the Norman Funeral Home, Goochland, where the family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Interment church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hadensville Fire and Rescue Squad Co. 6.

BRITTLE
Aubrey Boykin Brittle, 83, of Richmond, Va., died Friday, March 2, 2001. He was the widower of Florence Gentry Harton Brittle, also of Richmond. His parents were Mattie S. Pulley of Raleigh, N.C. and Fred G. Brittle Sr. of Ivor, Va. Mr. Brittle had retired in 1972 in Atlanta, Ga., after a 30 year career in accounting with the US Army Corps of Engineers. On active duty military service with the Corps of Engineers during World War II from June 22, 1943 to January 27, 1946, he achieved the rank of First Sergeant during campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, and in the Pacific Theater. In 1956, he was valedictorian of his class and a recipient of an excellence in scholarship award from the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity when he graduated from Atlanta Law School with the Bachelor of Laws Degree. He passed the Georgia bar examination that same year, one of 83 successful candidates out of the 351 who took the required examination. In Richmond during his retirement, he was an active member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church and a member of Strict Observance Masonic Lodge #207 AF&AM and the Richmond Scottish Rite Bodies. His funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, at the Parham Chapel of the Woody Funeral Home in Richmond. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 5, at the Parham Chapel. Donations in Mr. Brittle's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

CHIPMAN
Hallie L. (Self) Chipman, age 90, of Mechanicsville, Va., passed away March 4, 2001. She is survived by her sons, Clarence E. Self Jr., Lawrence R. Self and Paul L. Self; daughters, Faye E. Oliff and Penny L. Tapp; son-in-law, Larry D. Tapp; daughter-in-law, Jeannine M. Self; brother, Kenneth Buzby Sr.; sister, Dorothy M. Mang; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Chipman was a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church in Mechanicsville. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, Rt. 301 and Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2001. Interment private. CLAIBORNE
Josiah Claiborne, Ret. Army Sgt., of Richmond, departed this life into eternal life on February 2, 2001 at the V.A. Medical Center, after several months of illness. He was a faithful member to his church, Gethsemane Baptist Church, King William Co., and a very dedicated person to his family. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Daisy and Elmer Claiborne; and brother, Alascus Claiborne. He is survived by a loving sister, Mary C. Taylor of Newport News; two brothers, John of King William, and Travis of Richmond; and one favorite sister-in-law, Elizabeth Claiborne; three nieces, Dyan T. Venon, Princella and Melba Claiborne; three nephews, Larry, Johnathon Claiborne and Wilfred Moore; and many friends and loved ones. Viewing at Gethsemane Baptist Church, Wednesday at 11 a.m. where services will be held at 1 p.m. Interment in church cemetery. Arrangements by B.W. White Funeral Home.

Flora Gillette Drinnon of Mechanicsville, died Saturday, March 3, 2001. She is survived by a son, Guy Wayne Drinnon; a daughter, Carol Ann Hamilton; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three brothers, James, Charles and Robert Gillette; five sisters, Beatrice Behr, Wanda McNeal, Pearl Ashley, Huberta Smith and Jennie Ruth Dawson. Mr. Shannon Guy France, age 32, of Richmond, formerly of Warsaw, died on Sunday, March 4, 2001. Surviving are his father and his wife, David and Robin France; his mother and her husband, Teresa and Byron Russ; paternal grandparents, Ruth and Joe McCoy; stepbrothers, Keith and Mike; and stepsisters, Teresa and Jeanette. Shannon was preceded in death by his parental grandparents, Bartress and Mary France. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 at Newland Church of Christ with burial in the church cemetery. Lou M. Fulp, 64, formerly of 9375 Man of War Court, Glen Allen, Va., is finally at peace March 3, 2001. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Shepherd and is survived by her husband, Samuel C. Fulp Sr. of Amelia, Va.; her daughter, Sandy Shepherd and her husband, Arthur and their children, Sherry, Ashley, and Sarah of Glen Allen, Va.; her son, Sammy and his wife, Angela and their children, Zachary and Tyler of California, Md.; her daughter, Kim Fulp of Nelson, Va.; her stepdaughter, Brenda Hailey and her husband, Skipper and their children, Tim and Shane of King, N.C.; her stepdaughter, Vicki Rutledge and her husband, Steve and their children, Chad and Lisa of King, N.C.; two great-granddaughters, Kelsey and Gracie; her sister, Nathalie Marshall and her husband, Allen of Liberty, N.C.; her brother, John Marshall and his wife, Diane of Walnut Cove, N.C.; and her sister, Nancy Badgett of Kernersville, N.C.; and many cherished friends. Mr. Edward Ryland Gay, 63, of Emporia, died Sunday, March 4, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Betty W. Gay; two sons, Edward D. "Bubba" Gay and wife, Brenda of Emporia, and E. Frank Gay of Richmond; four daughters, Christie Mitchell and husband, Steve of Emporia, Dana A. Gay, Sherri M. Gay, both of Richmond, and Susan E. Gay of Starkville, Mississippi; one brother, Bahnson W. Gay of Emporia; five grandchildren, Choe Barnes, Sara Gay, Alex Gallagher, Steven and Joseph Mitchell. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2001 at Owen Funeral Home in Jarratt. A graveside funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2001 at Emporia Cemetery.
