GRUBBS
Juliah M. Grubbs of Richmond, died Sunday, March 4, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Carrington P. Grubbs; son and daughter-in-law, Michael C. and Vicki Grubbs. Mrs. Grubbs was a member of Patterson Avenue Baptist Church. She was treasurer of WIBC for 25 years, and also treasurer for Hollows Ladies Golf Club. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends Monday, March 5, 2001 from 4 to 7 p.m., and where her service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Interment in Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Patterson Avenue Baptist Church, 4301 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23221.

HALL
James (Kenny) Hall, age 35, of Midlothian, died March 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Hall; and was a loving father to Kenneth and Cody Hall. He is also survived by his father, Harry Hall; and mother, Linda Saulsbury; sisters, Teresa Crenshaw and Stacy Saulsbury; brother-in-law, Kenny Crenshaw. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment Sunset Memorial Park. Kenny was a dedicated volunteer and board member of the Chesterfield Little League.

HALL
Thomas Edward Hall Jr., 77, of Richmond, passed away on March 4, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Yowell Hall; his children, Robert E. Hall, Elizabeth H. Hargrove and husband, Frank Hargrove Jr. and T. Edward Hall III; three grandchildren, Oriana, Sarah and Frank Hargrove III. A native of Heathsville and an engineering school graduate of Virginia Tech, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from the engineering firm of Wiley & Wilson, where he worked for 37 years, performing tasks for Colonial Williamsburg, the White House, Monticello, the Octagon House and the Richmond Courts Building. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Virginia Society of Professional Engineers, the Engineers Club of Richmond and Ginter Park Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Heathsville. A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7 at Ginter Park Baptist Church. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Richmond Chapter, 4600 Cox Rd., Suite 130, Glen Allen, 23060. Arrangements by Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Rainswood.

HARPER
Margaret B. "Maggie" Harper, age 69, formerly of Ashland, Ohio, and more recently of Canton, Ohio, died Saturday afternoon, March 3, 2001 in Mercy Medical Center, following a brief illness. Born September 11, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Christopher James and Christina Purdon. Preceded in death by her husband, Francis L. Harper; and one brother, Christopher James Purdon. Survivors include two sons, Terry P. Harper of Ashland, Ohio and Craig Harper of Akron, Ohio; two daughters and son-in-law, Lillian Harper of Canton and Kathleen and John Prutzman of Richmond, Va.; ten grandchildren, Brandon, Benjamin, Bradford, Clayton, Christopher F. and Joshua S. Harper, Alexis Prutzman, John Prutzman Jr., Tiffany Diebold and Heidi Harper; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home, Canton, Ohio. Calling hours in the funeral home will be two hours prior to services from 6 to 8 p.m.

HOFHEIMER
Margaret Creasy Hofheimer, 89, a resident of Chippenham Manor Nursing Home, and formerly of Chambersburg, Pa., passed away Saturday, March 3, 2001. Daughter of the late Dr. Lavender Dearing Creasy and Mrs. Addie Brady Creasy, and the widow of Herold Richmond Hofheimer. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret H. Lewis and her husband, John B. Lewis Jr.; stepson, Herold R. Hofheimer and his wife, Ellen Hofheimer; two grandchildren, Jacqueline L. Wallace and her husband, Jonathan R. Wallace of Reston, Va., and John B. Lewis III and his wife, Sabrina Padgett Lewis of Charlotte, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Christopher Matthew Wallace, Morgan Brady Wallace, Brittany Padgett Semones and Carrington Brooke Lewis; also three nephews, John E. Garner, Rev. Dr. Dearing L. Garner and Thomas L. Garner. Mrs. Hofheimer was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church of Chambersburg, Pa., and a former member of the Congregation Beth Ahabah and it's Sisterhood, and the Lee Chapter, Virginia Division, United Daughters of the Confederacy. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2001, 2:30 p.m. at Hebrew Cemetery, Richmond, Va. Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, assisting family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Congregation Beth Ahabah, 1111 W. Franklin St., Richmond, Va. 23220.

HOLLINS
Died March 3, 2001, Joseph R. Hollins Jr., age 70 of Montpelier, Va. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Howard Hollins; his daughter, Patricia H. Norton of Mechanicsville; his sons, J. Reynolds (Rennie) Hollins III and Chris H. Hollins, both of Montpelier; his grandchildren, Heather H. Mills, Jeremiah, Lauren, Chris Jr., Chad Hollins and Michael Norton; and his great-granddaughter, Madeline Jane Mills. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Church of Our Saviour, Montpelier. Interment church cemetery. Mr. Hollins was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. Memorial gifts may be made to the West Hanover Vol. Rescue Squad.

JACYK
Michael Jacyk, 69, of Richmond, passed away March 3, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Mary Granger Jacyk; extended family, mother-in-law, Grace Granger, Betty and Joe Fredrich, Walter and Nancy Granger, Nancy and Raymond Bonilla and numerous nieces and nephews, which he considered his children. He was the owner of Partronics (electronic wholesaler) in Midlothian. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

KNUST
Herman F. Knust, 87, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Ann Pierce Knust; son and his wife, Kenneth F. Sr. and Pat Knust; grandson, Kenny Knust Jr.; sister, Kathryn Evans of Baltimore, Md.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Knust was a member of Central United Methodist Church and an amateur radio operator. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and where funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.

LEWIS
Audrey Carter Lewis, departed this life March 1, 2001. Mrs. Lewis was born in Richmond, Va., November 27, 1919. She lived in Washington, D.C. for a number of years. She was a resident of New York City for about 30 years. Mrs. Lewis retired from CBS, where she was an administrative assistant for radio and tv news in New York. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hylan G. Lewis; three sisters, Hazel C. Logan, Juanita C. Meadows, and Eleanor C. Jasey; four brothers, William U. Carter Sr., Charles B. Carter Jr., Lawrence R. and Kermit I. Carter Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Guy E. Lewis of Yreka, Calif.; six nephews, Royal H., Lawrence L., and J. Everett Logan Sr., Kermit I. Carter Jr., Alfred L. Meadows Jr. and Charles B. Carter III; two devoted nieces, Juanita M. Reese and Gwendolyn C. Porter; 12 great-nephews, nine great-nieces, seven great-great-nephews, and three great-great-nieces, a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th Street, where the family will receive friends Tuesday, 12 Noon until hour of funeral services, 1 p.m. Rev. Fred Feusahrens officiating. Burial Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends kindly assemble at the funeral home Tuesday, 12:45 p.m.

LUCY
Harry S. "Dip" Lucy Jr., 89, of Mechanicsville, died Saturday, March 3, 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Peggy Childress and her husband, Stanley; a granddaughter, Donna Childress; two sisters, Doris L. Crowder and Caroll L. Runge; a brother, Allen L. Lucy; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., where services will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. Interment 2 p.m. Shackelfords Chapel Cemetery, Plain View, Va. Mr. Lucy was retired from Peoples Drug Co., lived in Syria, Va. for 18 years and was well known for his love of horses and trail riding. MARSH
Carolyn McKinney Marsh, 81, of Richmond, died March 2, 2001. Born December 22, 1919, she was the only child of the late, Lawrence A. and Callie R. (Monk) McKinney. She is survived by her husband, Ellett H. Marsh; three daughters, Pamela M. Bryant and husband, William T. Bryant of Rockville, Rebecca M. Schmidt and husband, Gary F. Schmidt of Wynne, Ark. and Teresa H. Brooks of Lakewood, Col.; six grandchildren, Charles G. Harding Jr., Gregory T. Bryant, Candace M. Harding, Gary F. Schmidt Jr., Stephanie A. Schmidt and Elizabeth A. Brooks. Mrs. Marsh retired from Johnston-Willis Hospital in 1981, having worked as a housemother at the School of Nursing and in the business office at the new Johnston-Willis in Chesterfield County. She was a member of Chesterfield Chapter No. 139, O.E.S. for more than fifty years, having honorably served as Worthy Matron. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday with an Eastern Star memorial service at 7 p.m., followed by visitation until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7 at the funeral home, with interment in Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Eastern Star Home, 3000 Chamberlayne Ave., Richmond, Va. 23227.

Melissa W. Middleton, 46, departed this life unexpectedly to join our Lord and her Ryan on Wednesday March 1, 2001. She is survived by her devoted husband, Charles W. Middleton; and daughter, Kellie Nicole. She was preceded in death by her loving son, Ryan Wayne Middleton. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.R. Worsham of Chesterfield; two sisters, Ronda W. Plummer and Lydia W. Hurst of Chesterfield; nieces, Alyson W. Hurst, Sofie Taddeo, Amanda Mata, Shelby Morris and Pamela Proctor; nephews, Jason D. Fitzhugh, Shawn W. Plummer, Kristopher S. Plummer and Ryan Middleton; mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Edwards of Chesapeake; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was a member of Second Branches Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday. Interment Bermuda Memorial Park.

MILLS
Rebecca Wenrich Ower Mills, 81, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, March 4, 2001 at her home. Born in Caroline, she had retired after 25 years from Safeway in Bowling Green and was the widow of Phillip Ower and Charles Mills. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Faye Ower and Roy W. Page of Doswell; a brother, Willard Wenrich Sr. of Bowling Green; a sister, Lillian Miller of Florida; two grandsons, Jonathan and Tina Page and Christopher Page; and one great-granddaughter, Carrington Elizabeth Page. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of the Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Monday 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Mrs. Nannie Bell Mills Palmer, the wife of the late, James H. Palmer Sr., died March 2, 2001. She is survived by her two sons, James Jr. and his wife, Valerie, Jerry and his wife, Denise; one grandson, Jermaine and his wife, Denicia; one granddaughter, Jamila; one great-granddaughter, Jacelyn; four sisters, Loudella Williams, Daisy Chestnut, Bessie Bass and Sadie Brown; one uncle, Rufus Mills; three sisters-in-law, Mozelle Washington, Pearl Totton and Ella Mills; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Her remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St., where the family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and where funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7, 11 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church, 3509 Midlothian Turnpike. Rev. Jimmy I. McCreary, Pastor, officiating. Interment in Maury Cemetery. Remains will rest in church one hour prior to the service. Relatives and friends attending funeral services, assemble at the church Wednesday, 10:30 a.m.

PEREZ
John Perez, 84, of Victoria, Va., husband of Charlotte Elizabeth Cothran Perez, and the late Kathryn Tucker Perez, died March 3, 2001. He was a retired taxi driver and merchant. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday (today) 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Staples Funeral Home, Victoria, and where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, 2 p.m. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Victoria. Memorial contributions may be made to the Victoria Fire and Rescue Squad.

Vivian G. Phillips, age 84, of Richmond, died Saturday, March 3, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, D. Glenn Phillips Sr.; and a daughter, Judith P. Smith. She is survived by her son, David G. Phillips Jr.; four grandchildren, Janet, Tre', Taylor and Logan. Mrs. Phillips was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. Frances Williams Reams, 73, of Powhatan, died March 3, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Harvey S. Reams Jr.; five children, William R. Dawson, Pamela Dawson Phipps, Tammy Reams-Kaleta, Harvey Wayne Reams and Diane Reams Houff; four grandchildren, Samantha Dawson Simpkins, James R. Dawson, Shannon Jenkins VanLandingham and James A. Houff; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy., (Rt. 60), Powhatan, and where services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday with graveside services held at 1 p.m. in Westhampton Memorial Park.
