Mr. Hazel Rountree departed this life February 27, 2001. He is survived by one son, Henry Rountree; two daughters, Kathryn Griffin and Myrtle Branch; six grandchildren, Henry Jr. and James Rountree, Laverne Johnson, Warrick and Warren Taylor, and Barbara Strickland; many nieces and nephews, among them devoted, John Hamilton; devoted daughter-in-law, Evon Rountree; other relatives and friends. His remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, 12 noon. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.

RUTH
Elizabeth Harris Ruth, 81, of Montpelier, widow of George H.B. Ruth Sr., passed away Saturday, March 3, 2001. She is survived by two sons, George H.B. Ruth Jr. of Montpelier and Don L. Ruth of Mooresville, N.C.; and daughter, Diana Dymacek of Lexington; a brother, Johnny S. Harris of Montpelier; also four grandchildren, Mary Ann Stamey, Suellen Bailey, Ivy Wolfe and Julian Dymacek; and two great-grandchildren. Remains rest at the Beaverdam Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Chapel Church of Christ, Montpelier. Interment Ruth Family Cemetery.

SMITH
Thomas L. Smith, 79, of Goochland, Va., departed this life Sunday, March 4, 2001. Remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland. Funeral notice later.

SPROUSE
Wesley Wilson Sprouse, 46, of Richmond, passed away suddenly March 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 28 years to the day, Kathy Sprouse; two sons, Kenneth Wilson and Philip Scott Sprouse; a daughter, Danielle Elizabeth Sue; granddaughter, Cyairah Danielle; a father-in-law, John Fore Sr.; three brothers-in-law, John Fore Jr., Bill Chorney, and Kent Hinnant; three sisters-in-law, Judy Fore, Pam Chorney, and Linda Hinnant. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Danny Fore; his mother, Leamern Sprouse; and mother-in-law, Lucille Fore. He is also survived by a host of caring friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Wesley had a passion for motorcycle riding and skeet shooting. He was employed by Mt. Royal Management Company for 16 years as a maintenance supervisor. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends all day Monday and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.

Departed this life March 2, 2001, Mr. Joseph Lee Word of Richmond. He is survived by his wife, Rosa G. Word; one son, Todd L. Word; one daughter, Pamela W. Parker; one granddaughter, Jayla R. Parker; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Riley and Elaine C. Harris; a host of nieces and nephews, one aunt, a host of cousins, among them, one devoted, Roscoe Pegeas; mother-in-law, Mary Lee Gale; one son-in-law, Anthony L. Parker; one daughter-in-law, Jenny Word; three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, among them, one devoted, Mary Lopes; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th Street. Remains will lie in state Tuesday, 12 Noon at 31st Street Baptist Church, 823 N. 31st Street, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Dr. Darrel Rollins officiating. Burial Forest Lawn Cemetery.

ZIMMERMAN
Ann C. Zimmerman, 91, of Richmond, widow of William Zimmerman, died March 3, 2001. She is survived by two daughters, Marianne Knight and husband, Edward, Linda Tillman and husband, Joseph (Pete); son, Henry W. Zimmerman and wife, Katherine (Kit); four grandchildren, Elizabeth K. Mertens, Brent Tillman, Will and Kate Zimmerman. Mrs. Zimmerman was a member of Ginter Park United Methodist Church, a charter member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Samis Grotto and a 50 year member of the Betsy Ross Chapter #90, O.E.S. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to her funeral service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2001. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Ginter Park United Methodist Church, 1010 W. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23227 or your favorite charity.

BAKER
E. Pearl Baker, 78, of Richmond, died Sunday, June 24, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dennie R. Baker; two daughters and their husbands, Anita and Don Taylor, Nan and Ron Cianciulli; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Vernon L. Mills; a sister-in-law, Nancy Martin; and a brother-in-law, Frank Couch Sr. Mrs. Baker was a retired employee of the C&P Telephone Co. Her family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home, 1503 Michaels Rd., Richmond, Va. or Tuckahoe Vol. Rescue Squad, 1101 Horsepen Rd., Richmond, Va.

BALDWIN
Mary Ethel Coleman Baldwin, 96, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord Monday, June 25, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Baldwin. She is survived by her stepson, Joseph Baldwin and his wife, Lilo of Frankfurt, Germany; and a sister, Roberta Coleman Hanenkrat. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and was also a member of Manchester Chapter No. 53 O.E.S. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

BEAVERS
John Mathias Beavers, 77, of Richmond, died Monday, June 25, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte V. Beavers; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eldon G. and Geneie Beavers, G. Wilbur and Cheryl Beavers and Jerry G. and Pearl Beavers; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Bernard A. Beavers; two nephews; and two devoted friends, Martin L. Peery of Tazewell, Va. and Jack Dunnavant of Richmond. His remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with a Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m. and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. Mr. Beavers served our country during WWII as a staff sergeant with a heavy ordinance outfit attached to the Fifth Air Force serving in New Guinea, Dutch East Indies, Philippines, and Japan.

William Eratosthenis Causieestko Jr. "Causie", 75, of Richmond, began his new life June 22, 2001. He was preceded in eternal rest by his parents and sister, Maggie. He leaves a dedicated wife and friend, Aleen; five daughters, Diana, Audrey, Sheila, Carol and Billie; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. After completing Armstrong High, "Causie" graduated from Hampton University in 1949. He later achieved his master's degree, and went on to receive a mortuary science degree, was a member of many organizations and an Army veteran. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. June 27. Funeral, 12 noon June 28, First African Baptist Church. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

David R. Cherry Jr. of 1909 Charles City Road, departed this life Wednesday, June 20, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Lottie Cherry; stepsons, Zachary, Federal, and Ryan; six step-grandchildren; mother, Minnie Queeen; several nieces and nephews, host of aunts, uncles and cousins; two daughters-in-law, Cheryl Branch and Tracey Branch; four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts., where the family will receive friends Tuesday (tonight) from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Chesterfield County. Rev. Richard Johnson, Pastor, officiating. Interment church cemetery. Remains will rest in church one hour prior to service. DeCHIRICO
Dorothy M. DeChirico of Glen Allen passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 20, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Mike. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 6 at 2 p.m., Bonnie Brae Church of Christ, 7610 Staples Mill Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.

GAMACHE
Richard E. Gamache Jr. of Chesapeake died Saturday, June 24, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Siobhan Gamache; his son, Richard Lee Gamache; his father, Richard E. "Sarge" Gamache Sr.; stepmother, Betty Wingfield Gamache; grandfather, Ovila Gamache; grandmother, Florence Byrnes; half-sister, Debra Klein; aunt, Barbara Kusterer; uncle, Julius Holder; and cousins, Karen Hall, Jackie Pernell, Lisa Bekiewicz, Mario, Victor, Anitra and Erica Kusterer, Thomas, Ronald and Yvonne Holder. A memorial service will be held Wesdneday, 7 p.m., at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd. The family will receive friends one hour before service.

GARY
Mary Pointer Gary died peacefully at the Virginian retirement home in Fairfax, Va. on Saturday, June 23, 2001. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, T. Jack Gary Jr.; three children, T. Jack Gary III, Jill Lawlor and Ginny Kerr; and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Gary was born November 17, 1910 in Gloucester, Va. After living many years in Richmond, she lived in the Northern Virginia area for the last 38 years of her life. She is a graduate of James Madison College and was an active member of the Falls Church Women's Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Associates at 10201 Lee Highway, Suite 210, Fairfax, Va. 22030.

Bertha L. Ampey, departed this life June 23, 2001. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Lorraine and son, Eugene Ampey; stepdaughter, Goldie Johnson and her husband, Harvey; 12 grandchildren, one devoted, Rudolph Ampey Jr.; 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Ampey; brother-in-law, Rev.
