ROBERTSON
Horace Bernard "Robby" Robertson, 69, of Chesterfield, died on Wednesday, May 23, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Adele W. Robertson; one son, Robby Robertson; daughter, Robin Thomas; three grandchildren, Lee and Samantha Thomas, and Gage Robertson; two brothers, Claude and Howard; and one sister, Mary Crowell. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Southminster Presbyterian Church. Entombment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Southminster Presbyterian Church Music Department, 7500 Hull Street Rd., Richmond, Va. 23235.

RUSSELL
Valeria Ann Russell of 5600 Charlevoix Ct. died May 24, 2001. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral notice later.

SALERNO
Mr. John J. Salerno, 89, of Richmond, passed away on May 24, 2001. He was the widower of Georgie Perry Salerno and is survived by two children, John J. Salerno Jr. of West Haven, Conn., Lillian Burnett of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Stacy Cox of Liberty, Texas, Laura Neves of Plainville, Conn., John and Mark Salerno of Clearwater, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Kristen and Christopher Cox of Liberty, Texas, Alexander, Xavier and Raven Neves of Plainville, Conn.; his best friend and constant companion of many years, Cricket. Also well-remembered by his family for their love and friendship are Merrill and Kevin Lord. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment Riverview Cemetery.

THRIFT
Thelma Hopwood Thrift of Richmond, widow of Douglas Bowcock Thrift, died Friday, April 20, 2001 after a long illness. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

WEBER
Walter Weber, age 91. of 1923 Old Well Rd., Phenix, Va., died Wednesday, May 23, 2001. Surviving are two sisters, Marion W. Mennel and Evelyn W. Cranston. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Bethel Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.

WHITAKER
Mr. Roman Whitaker Sr., 62, of Richmond, departed this life May 21, 2001. He is survived by his devoted friend, Laura Robinson; devoted ex-wife, Elizabeth Whitaker; one son, Roman Whitaker Jr.; three daughters, Patricia Jeffries (Tracy), Fina Whitaker and Regina Minor (Kenneth); two stepchildren, Sharon and Richard Robinson; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, seven stepgrandchildren, one stepgreat-grandchild, five brothers, one aunt, one brother-in-law; devoted friends, Charles, Joseph and Clara Wilson; a host of other relatives and friends. His remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home where his family will receive friends Friday, 6 to 7 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. Rev. Kenneth Minor officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

WILLIAMS
Dorothy L. Chaney Williams departed this life May 22, 2001. She was born November 12, 1913 to the late John and Mary Hicks Chaney in Scottsburg, Va. Dorothy was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, where she served diligently on the Usher Board, the Deaconess Board, the Missionary Circle, and as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also Past President of the Group IV Church ministry. She represented her church for many years as a member of the Usher's Union of Richmond and Vicinity, the Deaconess Conference of Richmond and Vicinity, and the Baptist General Convention of Virginia-Division of Women-Area A. In the 1920s Dorothy married the late Percy Greene Sr. To this union was born three sons, Percy B., John S. and Dr. Robert T. Greene, who preceded her in death. In September of 1946, Dorothy, a young widow, married the late Gelora Randolph (Cootie) Williams Sr. with whom she had a loving relationship for 52 years. She is survived by one son, G. Randolph Williams Jr.; seven grandchildren, John Greene Jr. (Lafonda), Sheila Cleveland (Ronald), Kathy Coleman (Gilbert), Robert Greene Jr., Kevin Greene, Michele Greene Studevant (Kevin) and Shelley Greene; seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; stepsister, Iris Dance; two daughters-in-law, Esther T. Greene and Dr. Delores R. Greene; close family friend, Mrs. Jenny Barnes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 26, from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted immediately following at 1 p.m. Rev. Linwood Russell officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. The staff of the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home is serving her family.

WILSON
Judge George Garland Wilson Jr. of Midlothian, Virginia died on Wednesday, May 23, 2001, following a lengthy illness at the Brandermill Woods Health Care Center. He was 87 years of age. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Shackleton Wilson,; one son, Dr. George G. Wilson III of Santa Barbara, California; one daughter and son-in-law, Anne Wilson Scott and Larry Johnson Scott of Midlothian, Virginia; and two grandsons, George Lawrence Scott of Fairfax, Virginia, and James Edward Scott of Midlothian, Virginia. Judge Wilson was a 1940 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. During World II, he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and as a top-secret courier for General Douglas MacArthur in the Pacific Theatre. Following the war, Judge Wilson returned to his hometown of Radford, Virginia, where he served as Municipal Judge from 1946 to 1950. From 1950 to 1961, he served as Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Radford. He also maintained a private law practice in Radford from 1946 to 1966. In 1966, he was appointed as the first judge of the Third Regional Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for the City of Radford, and Montgomery and Floyd Counties. In 1973, he was appointed judge of the Twenty-Seventh Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court from its inception in July 1973 until his retirement on February 28, 1982. Judge Wilson was a member of Salisbury Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Board of Deacons of the Presbyterian Church of Radford. He was a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He served on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Radford and as a member of the Board of Directors of Saint Albans private psychiatric hospital for many years. Judge Wilson was a member of the Jefferson Society of Alumni and the Virginia Life Law Society of the University of Virginia. He was an avid UVA football enthusiast and was a member of the University of Virginia Student Aid Foundation. Judge Wilson was a former member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club of Radford, Virginia. He also was a Shriner and a former member of the Kazim Temple in Roanoke, Virginia. He was a former member of the Radford Dutch Dinner Dance Club and a former member of the Round Meadow Country Club in Christiansburg, Virginia. There will be a memorial service at Brandermill Woods Chapel on Saturday, May 26, at 2 p.m. A reception will immediately follow the service. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Presbyterian Church of Radford in Radford, Virginia.

WINSTON
Departed this life May 19, 2001, Eddie R. (Sam) Winston III, age 24, of 11029 Lewistown Rd. He is survived by two daughters, Sammantha and Karla Winston; parents, Lynda J. and Eddie R. Winston Jr.; two sisters, Rochelle Winston and Connie Morris; paternal grandmother, Emily Walker Winston; great-grandmother, Susie Walker; devoted companion, Amanda Brooke Rosinski; seven aunts, nine uncles, host of cousins and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral Saturday 1 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 2811 Fendall Ave., where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr. A. Lincoln James (Pastor), Rev. Phillip Atkins officiating. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends assemble at the church 12:45 p.m. Saturday.

YEATTS
Margie S. Yeatts, 77, of Richmond, passed away May 24, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Yeatts. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Yeatts and Pamela Moseley; her son, Jeffrey Yeatts; her grandson, Jeffrey Lee Jr. and granddaughter, Chelsea Yeatts. She is also survived by her devoted sister-in-law, Helen Y. Job; and also a host of other loving family members. She was an active member of the Castenettes. She was also a longtime member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church or the Shriners Children's Hospital.

YOUNG
Mrs. Vera C. Young, age 97, of Richmond, widow of Lawrence Edward Young, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001. She is survived by two sons, Lawrence E. Young Jr. of Richmond and Charles F. Young of Palmyra; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Young and her husband were the founders of the Glenwood Nurseries and a lifelong member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Broadus Memorial Baptist Church. Woody Funeral Home, Laburnum Chapel, in charge of arrangements.

ZACHARY
A. Allen Zachary Jr., 74, of Richmond, widower of Jean Watson Zachary, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001. He is survived by his son, Arthur A. Zachary III and his wife, Tina T. Zachary of Suffolk; his daughter, Kimberly J. Zachary of Richmond; his grandson, A. Allen Zachary IV; and his sister, Helen Z. Moseley of Richmond. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue, where the family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Katie Mayer Abell, age 80, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Richmond, died Monday in Bradenton, Fla. She is survived by her daughters, Delaine B. Lester, Palmetto, Fla., Alpha Kingery, Prince George, Va.; a son, Ronald R. Mayer, Richmond; a sister, Miriam Gay, North View, Ohio. Burial will be private in Richmond. Arrangements by K.L. Departed this life March 5, 2001, Little Miss Ariana Marie Anderson of Midlothian, Va. and the beloved daughter of Dr. Ralph (Chip) and Margaux K. Anderson. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

BLAND
Nancy Lee Bland, 41, of Richmond, departed this life unexpectedly on Saturday, March 3, 2001. She was an employee of Dominion Virginia Power. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Bland Jr.; and her two brothers, George I. Wood Jr. and Thomas A. Wood. She was preceded in death by her parents, George I. and Frances L. Wood; and her brother, William Andrew Wood. The family will receive friends at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m., and where a memorial service will be held Thursday, 2 p.m. Interment private. Roy N. Blanton of La Crosse died March 5, 2001. Survived by a sister, Annie B. Lynch of La Crosse; a brother, Herman C. Blanton of Nashville, Tenn.; a stepson, Keith Howell of Lynchburg; four stepgrandchildren. Graveside service 2 p.m. Thursday, Cedar Wood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, N.C. BLUE
Ernestine Lilian Davis Blue (Judy) departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, March 6, 2001. She is survived by her brother, Charles R. Davis Jr. and his wife, Ada Clark; her sister, Mary Inez Davis; her brother-in-law, Robert Lawless; her son, Richard Wells Blue and his wife, April; her granddaughter, Karen Elizabeth Barbour and her husband, Paul; and her two foster great-grandchildren, Cody and Jay. Family will receive friends Friday, March 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Road. A service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel with interment to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. BREITH
Erika Breith, a retired Philip Morris employee, passed away Thursday, March 1, after a battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughter, Maria Louise Herlong; son-in-law, Danny Herlong; and two grandchildren, Daniel and Nicholas. Special thanks to the staff of Johnston-Willis Hospital for taking care of her in her final days.
