ZILETTI
W.G. "Bill" Zeletti Sr., 86, of Elizabethton, Tenn., died Friday, May 11, 2001 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Formerly of Richmond, Va., he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Morris Ziletti in 1967. He served for 13 years in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Ruth C. Ziletti of the home; two sons, W.G. Ziletti Jr., Baltimore, Md. and David F. Ziletti, Richmond, Va.; two stepdaughters, Gaye Stanton of Elizabethton and Connie Carden, Mt. Pilot, N.C.; one sister, Anne Meagher, Vienna, Va; four grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Grace Baptist Church in Elizabethton, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Grace Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, 1114 Broad Street, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel.

BLAKES
Departed this life July 18, 2001, Mrs. Edna Mae Blakes of 1311 Wallace St. She is survived by two brothers, David L. and James E. Brown; several nieces, nephews and cousins; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Banks and Irma Brown; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday. Rev. Michael Shannon officiating. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the funeral home 12:45 p.m. Monday.

BUTLER
Perry P."Penny" Butler Jr. died July 20, 2001. He is survived by his mother, Mary E. Butler; his aunts and uncles, Betty J. and Lee Walls, Margaret and Junie Matthews; his cousins, Jeannie Hyatt, Chris, Kristy and Victoria Walls, Wayne and Karen Matthews, Shirley and Tootie Lowry; and great aunt, Dorothy Cummings. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, where the family will receive friends Saturday and Sunday, and where funeral services will be held Monday, 12:30 p.m. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.

CHILDRESS
Althea A. Childress of Dover, Del., died on July 20, 2001 at Silver Lake Center, Dover. She was 81 years old. She was born in Richmond on August 28, 1919 to Walter and Daisey Echo. She worked at the Peoples Drug Store in Richmond for 30 years, and moved to the Dover area 14 years ago to be with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Childress. She is survived by a son, Carter L. Davis; a loving sister, Doris B. Gregory of Dover; two grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are by Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover, Del.

CURRIE
Mrs. Naomi F. Currie, widow of Stanley J. Currie Jr., died Saturday, July 21, 2001. She was predeceased by a son, Michael A. Currie. She is survived by three children, Stanley J. Currie III, Donald S. Currie, Barbara J. Currie; one brother, Lawrence Ferguson; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 28, 2001, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Mrs. Currie's home. Memorial contributions may be made to East Hanover Vol. Rescue Squad.

DAVIS
William Elsworth Davis, 69, of Farnham, died July 20, 2001. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Lucille Davis; son, Ronnie Davis of Village; father, Emory E. Davis of Kinsale; devoted friend, Bonnie Prince of Village. Funeral services 1 p.m. Monday at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Rainswood. Interment Farnham Baptist Cemetery, Farnham. DeGAETANI
Mary L. DeGaetani, widow of Frank J. DeGaetani Sr., died in Richmond, Friday, July 20, 2001. She is survived by her sons, Frank J. DeGaetani Jr. and his wife, Penny, Stephen P. DeGaetani and his wife, Linda; a sister, Laura Corrieri of Richmond; a brother, Mike Verdi of Maryland; four grandchildren, Andrea, Katherine, Stephanie, and Nicholas DeGaetani. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Home for the Aged, 1503 Michaels Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229.

EDWARDS
Nancy G. Edwards of Highland Springs passed away Saturday, July 21, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Ben Edwards; four children, Chad Edwards, Shaun Russell, Terry Spiller and Bunny Overman; her parents, Paul and Jackie (Seay) Moore; two brothers, Richard and Paul Moore; one sister, Jan Hummell; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday. Interment Washington Memorial Park.

FOWLER
Basil D. (Bud) Fowler Jr., 70, of Manquin, Va., died July 18, 2001 in an automobile accident. Surviving are his son, Gregg Fowler of Louisville, Ky. and wife, Leslie; his daughter, Laurinda Peters of Broadway, Va. and husband, Ric; his sister, Sally Franklin of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. and husband, Ed; six grandchildren, Christen, Joshua, Rebecca, Evan Rose, Kyle and Ellis; two nephews and one niece. A native of Falls Church, Virginia, Mr. Fowler served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He retired from state service in 1991 after 37 years with the Virginia Employment Commission. Following his retirement, he worked part-time for Kings Dominion in Children's Rides. Bud is remembered as a generous friend by many. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 301 and Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, where a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the King William Volunteer Rescue Squad.

FUGMAN
John Kenneth Fugman, 61, of Blackstone, died suddenly on Wednesday, July 18, 2001. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late John Parrish Fugman and Florence Isabel Johnson. He retired from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service and had lived in Virginia for the past 27 years. He was a graduate of Virginia State University, an active participant in the Robert E. Lee Council of the Boy Scouts of America, a volunteer reading teacher at Blackstone Elementary School and a member of Blackstone Presbyterian Church. Mr. Fugman was a Past Master of Blandford Lodge #3 A.F.&A.M., Petersburg and the Blackstone Lodge #79, a member of the Union Royal Arch Chapter #7, Petersburg, member of the Appomattox Commandery #6, a Past Patron of Alpha Chapter #1 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Colonial Heights Court #10, Order of the Amaranth. He is survived by Dr. Mildred Moore Fugman of Richmond; children, Scott Gund of Petersburg and Christopher and Lisa Gund of Emporia, John M. and Jennifer Fugman of Petersburg and David M. Fugman, Richmond; six grandchildren, Travis Gund, Trisha Gund, Elizabeth Gund, Garrett Gund, Stephanie Gund and Juliet Fugman; his mother, Isabel Johnson of Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Carol A. Busch of Pennsylvania; and a nephew, Bradley Busch of Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 22, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights. Interment with Masonic Rites will be conducted by Blandford Lodge #3 A.F.&A.M. at 4 p.m. in Round Hill Cemetery, Emporia. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. GARLAND
Mary Willa Altman Garland, 87, of Victoria, widow of Frederick Webster Garland, died July 21, 2001. She was a member of the Victoria Baptist Church, Green Thumb Garden Club and Golden Age Club. She is survived by a sister, Ann Walker of Pawleys Island, S.C.; a brother, Van Altman of Morristown, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, 11 a.m., at Staples Funeral Home in Victoria. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10 to 11 a.m.) at the funeral home. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Victoria. Please consider memorial donations to the Victoria Baptist Church or the Victoria Fire and Rescue Squad.

Ralph D. Holt Jr., 63, of Chesterfield, passed away July 19, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn D. Holt; his two sons, Anthony W. Holt and David G. Holt; a brother, Robert Holt; a sister, Carolyn Holt; a grandson, Daniel A. Holt. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Dale Memorial Park.

HORNE
George Landon Horne, 82, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Virginia Newman Horne; daughter, Betsy Horne Hughes and her husband, Ken; son, Justin Horne and his wife, Martha; sister, Mary Virginia Howard; granddaughter, Pamela Horne; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Horne was a longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II. His remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Wayne A. Jones of 203 E. 35th St. departed this life at McGuire V.A. Medical Center July 17, 2001. He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, Phyllis Jones; mother, Laura Johnson; two sisters, Vera Lovelace and Patricia Delaney; a brother, John Walch Jr.; a devoted friend, Bubba Freeman; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Carlton T. Brooks Funeral Home, 2200 Hull Street, where funeral services will be held Monday, 11 a.m. Rev. Ray Reed officiating. Interment will be held at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, in Amelia, at a later date. Family and friends attending services assemble 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Departed this life July 18, 2001, Rufus W. Meekins. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Pernice Meekins; his loving children, Katie Mae Owens, Patricia Harris, Sheila Thorne, Joann, Vernell and Mary Meekins; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Ruby Brown, Beatrice Benjamin, Hazel Coleman and Thelma Braxton; his brothers, Thomas and Eugene Meekins; one brother-in-law, Eddie Braxton; two sons-in-law, Carlton L. Thorne and Johnnie M. Harris Sr.; a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joyce Tibbs Miles, age 72, of Sandston, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, July 20, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Lester W. Miles; three sons and their wives, Jerry M. and Janice, Larry N. and Pam and Keith W. and Beth Miles; two sisters, Jenny VanVolkom and Emma Campbell; one brother, Alfred Tibbs; one step-sister, Jean Wyand; four grandchildren, Tracy Bryan, Travis and Lauren Miles and Keith Miles Jr. Mrs. Miles was a life member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church and was retired from the Virginia Community College System. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Washington Memorial Park.

NEWMAN
Mary B. Newman, 86, of Ashland, the widow of Willie Newman, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2001. She is survived by two sons, William and David Newman; two daughters, Patricia Waite and Margaret Newman; also 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation. Reid Funeral Home, Ashland, assisting the family.

PETERS
Alisa Pink, 39, of 813 Brookside Dr., Bartlett, Illinois, wife of Robert Larry Peters formerly of Mechanicsville, departed this life Wednesday, July 19, 2001. Alisa was a bilateral lung transplant patient and great fan of Bruce Springsteen music. She is survived by her husband, Rob; father, mother, sisters, nieces and nephews; godson, Anthony; many friends and mother and father-in-law, Mildred and Wilson Peters of Mechanicsville. Services to be held at St. Walters Catholic Church in Roselle, Ill. on Tuesday, July 24 at 3 p.m. Memorial service to be held at Monticello in Virginia the following week. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

POLON
Mrs. Tillie Goldin Polon, 96, of Richmond, died Saturday, July 21, 2001. She was the widow of Jack Polon. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Stanley Shavitz of Greensboro, N.C.; her son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Betty Tut Polon of St. Pete Beach, Fla.; two grandsons, Stephen Shavitz and his wife, Joy, and Jeffrey Polon and his wife, Lauren; and three great-grandsons. Remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Homes' Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Sir Moses Montifiore Cemetery. Mrs. Polon was past volunteer of the year for Temple Beth-El, Beth Sholom and B&P Hadassah.
