Rebecca W. Porter
The funeral for Rebecca Witcher Porter, 88, of 709 Smith St., Martinsville, who died Nov. 27, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Sinai Apostle Church of Christ in God. Bishop James C. Richardson Jr. will preside. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the church.
She was born on June 2, 1917, in Pittsylvania County to Abraham "Ham" Witcher and Eliza Jane Tarpley Witcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewitt Porter; five brothers; seven sisters; three nephews; a great-nephew; and a niece.
She worked at the former Jobbers Pants Factory in Martinsville as a supervisor. After receiving her GED at Campbell Court School in Bassett at age 54, she taught a detention class at Albert Harris School.
An active member of Mt. Sinai Apostle Church of Christ in God, she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Missionary Club, the Sisters Club and was financial church secretary for 69 years. She also served as church historian.
Surviving is a sister, Mira W. Millner of Martinsville.
Hairston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Johnny G. Rea
A graveside service for Johnny Green Rea, 85, of Ridgeway, who died Nov. 29, 2005, at his home, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens in Eden, N.C.
Rea was the son of the late Toney and Gertrude Rea. He retired from Fieldcrest Mills with 36 years of perfect attendance.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Lorene Slaughter Rea of the home; a daughter, Linda Rea Caudle of Eden; a son, Thomas Lee Rea of Greensboro, N.C.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Libby Durham of Ridgeway, Georgia Elliott of Richmond, Susan Rea of Lugoff, S.C. and Ruth Franklin of Martinsville; and three brothers, David Rea and Deal Rea, both of Ridgeway and T.W. Rea of Crossville, Tenn.
Fair Funeral Home in Eden is in charge of arrangements.

Naomi K. Robertson
The funeral for Naomi Kallam Robertson, 85, was held Wednesday at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron Mateer officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Ricky Clifton, Billy Kallam, Jerry Gilbert, Jay Cox, Junior Lawless and George Clanton.

Mary S. Wright
The funeral for Mary Maghline Sheppard Wright, 86, who died Nov. 29, 2005, at the residence of her daughter at 1010 Corn Tassel Trail, Martinsville, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at McKee-Stone Funeral Services. The Revs. Bynum Ore and Harold Draper will officiate. Burial will be in the Horsepasture Christian Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral chapel, and other times at the home of her daughter, Betty Shropshire, 1010 Corn Tassel Trail.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 4788, Martinsville, Va. 24115.
She was born in Stuart on March 11, 1919, to Eddie Euel Fulcher and Bessie Collins Fulcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel Carlis Sheppard; her second husband, Thomas Woodrow Wright; a sister, Treva F. Belton; a brother, Billy Fulcher; a granddaughter, Revonda Tilley Rowland; and a step-grandson, Kent Marks.
She retired from Lacy Manufacturing Co. where she worked for 32 years and was a member of Fontaine Baptist Church, where she was active in the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, Baptist women's Mission Group, Communion Committee and the Benevolence Committee.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty S. Shropshire and Elizabeth "Libby" S. Deal, both of Martinsville; a son, Bobby Edward Sheppard of Ridgeway; two stepdaughters, Faye Odell and Ann Marks, both of Martinsville; a stepson, Tommy Wright of Ridgeway; a sister, Norma Jean Shelton of Sandy Ridge, N.C.; four brothers, Claby Fulcher, Dudley Fulcher and Ralph M. Fulcher, all of Ridgeway and Henry G. Fulcher of Wirtz; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.

Robert L. Crowder
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Robert L. Crowder, 75, of Greensboro, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
He was the son of George Crowder and Nettie Mae Crowder. He served with the Army in the Korean Conflict and retired from Super X Drug Stores after more than 20 years of service. He was of the Protestant faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are two sisters, Zona Savolskis and JoAnn Thompkins, both of Patrick Springs, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at George Brothers Funeral Service in Greensboro and other times at the home of a nephew, Raymond Kendrick, 1630 Willomore St., Greensboro.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park with military honors.

Carol L. Draper
A graveside funeral for Carol Linderson Draper, 78, of 409 Oakdale St., Martinsville, who died Nov. 29, 2005, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Roselawn Burial Park with the Rev. Dr. Mike Hatfield and the Rev. Randall Stevens officiating.

Lewis I. Gilley
EDEN, N.C. -- Lewis Irby Gilley, 52, of 547 Westerly Park Road, Eden, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital.
Gilley was born in Ridgeway, Va., to Buster Gilley and Annie Eggleston Gilley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Poteat.
He was an Army veteran and previously worked for Industrial Heating and Air Inc.
Surviving are his wife, Lynn Corum Gilley of the home; a son, Jerry Brammer of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Regina Gilley of Eden; two grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Gilley of Eden, Robert Gilley of Ridgeway, Va. and Richard Gilley of Idaho; and three sisters, Gloria Hursddt of Canon, Va., and Julia Gilley and Mary Gilley, both of Ridgeway.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fair Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Overlook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and other times at the home on Westerly Park Road, Eden.

William C. Hill
William "Bill" Carson Hill, 82, of 374 Dillons Fork Road, Fieldale, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
He was born in Wise County on March 16, 1923, to William Stetson Hill and Gaynell Hubbard Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Handy Hill; his second wife, Nell Woodward Hill; and four brothers, Ralph C. Hill, Robert H. Hill and two infant brothers.
He was in the Air Force during World War II, and worked in the maintenance department at Fieldcrest Mills, retiring after 44 years of service.
He was a member of Valley Drive Baptist Church in Fieldale. He also attended Victory Baptist Church in Fieldale, the church he helped construct.
Surviving are a son, William "Carson" Hill Jr. of Fieldale; a stepdaughter, Hilda W. Sharp of Elon, N.C.; three sisters, Frances Hill Cunard of Wilson, Ga., Doris Hill Gusler of Collinsville and Clarice Hill Brown of Bassett; and a brother, Jack B. Hill of Collinsville.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Norris Funeral Services chapel with Pastor Dan Schelling, Pastor Bobby Rakes and David Naff officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home of his brother, Jack Hill, 1091 Brentwood Drive, Collinsville.
Memorials may be made to Fieldale-Collinsville Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 460, Collinsville, Va. 24078.

Franklin D. Howell
VESTA -- Franklin Delane "Henry" Howell, 65, of Vesta, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Patrick County on Nov. 24, 1940, to Tom and Jenny Hooker Howell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Delcie Goad and Lois Hamm; and four brothers, Coy Howell, Curtis Howell, Junior Howell and Clyde Howell.
He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Dorothy Thompson Howell of the home; two daughters, Audrey Goad of Floyd and Annette Howell of Mount Airy, N.C.; two sons, Keith Howell of Vesta and Frank Howell of Floyd; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Moody Funeral Home chapel in Stuart with the Revs. Shirley Leath and Cecil Wayne Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Hooker family cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Vesta Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 238, Vesta, Va. 24177.
