HARRIS
Olivia G. Harris, age 82, widow of Luther F. Harris, passed away March 29, 2002. She is survived by a sister, Lizzie Mae Griffin, of Red Oak, N.C.; and two nephews, Bobby Reams of Rocky Mount, N.C. and Wayne Reams of Boykins, Va. Mrs. Harris was retired from Southern Bank and Trust Co. (now Wachovia Bank), where she was employed for over 33 years. Her remains rest at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. this evening, and where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2002. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Red Oak Methodist Church, Red Oak, N.C. 27868.

HENDERSON
Purcell Henderson entered into eternal rest March 27, 2002. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Judge. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; one son and daughter-in-law, William and Barbara; one grandson and granddaughter, Kenarid and Ryan; three brothers, John, Walter and Henry; five sisters-in-law, Doris Smith, Claudine Pinkney, Vivian Mables, Maxine Henderson, Delores Henderson, Edna Mae Carter; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Battis; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; four devoted friends, John Quarles, John Seward, Deacon Sellaway and Herman Burt. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Mr. Henderson was a member of St. Paul's Baptist Church where he held a position with his wife on the hospitality committee. Fellowship will be held on Monday from St. Paul's Baptist Church, 2600 E. Marshall St., 12 noon until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Pastor Lance Watson officiating. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. CHILES

Marguerite E. Hubbard, age 95, of Sandston, passed away March 29, 2002. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Martin and her husband, Wilson; six grandchildren, Dale Key and her husband, Bob, David Murphy and his wife, Cindy, Vicki Robinson and her husband, Tommy, Wilson Martin Jr., Joyce Lane and her husband, Gene and Christopher Martin; four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., and where services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment Washington Memorial Park. JERRELL
Robert M. Jerrell, 85, of Thornburg, died Saturday, March 30, 2002 at his home. Born in Caroline County, he was the widower of Catheryn Campbell Jerrell. Mr. Jerrell retired from Waite Lumber Co., was a former part owner DeJarnette Lumber Co., and also was a farmer. He was a WWII veteran, a member of American Legion Post 320, and a former deacon and treasurer of Bethany Baptist Church. Survivors include his stepson, Keith Campbell of Thornburg; his stepdaughter, Dot Upshaw of Ruther Glen; his brother, Edward "Pee Wee" Jerrell of Chilesburg; his sister, Virginia Dare Oesterheld of West Virginia; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 11 a.m. in Bethany Baptist Church, Woodford, with Rev. Wilson Corr and Rev. Amos Healy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, Monday, 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church or Mary Washington Hospice.

LATNEY
Mary F. Latney of Milford, Va., mother of John H. Latney of Milford and Harvey Latney Jr. of Hanover, Va., Commonwealth Attorney for Caroline County. Also survived by four grandchildren, one brother, and two sisters. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 30, from the St. James Baptist Church, Milford, Va. MANN
Etta Strickland Mann, age 74, of Highland Springs, died March 30, 2002 at home. She was a dedicated Little League mom and grandma, as well as one of the owners of U-Bake Pizza. She is survived by her husband, Vivian (Skee) Mann. She leaves behind her four children, James (Skeeter) Mann and his wife, Linda of King William, Rose Mary Smith and her husband, David of Sandston, Vivian (Vicky) Mann of Highland Springs and John (Skip) Mann and his wife, Kathy of Glen Allen; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; her dear friends and cousins, Joyce Page and Audrey Goode; and other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 12 noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Tuesday at Corinth United Methodist Church in Sandston. Interment Washington Memorial Park. MATTHEWS
Elmer Taylor Matthews, 79, of Richmond, died Saturday, March 30, 2002 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; his two sons, Thomas Early Matthews and his wife, Julie, and Clay Taylor Matthews and his wife, Susan; and seven grandchildren. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and retired from C&P Telephone Company after 40 years of service. He volunteered many hours with the Pioneer Club of Richmond and assisted in the program helping adults learn to read. He was an avid golfer and after retirement, became an accomplished carpenter. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at Bon Air United Methodist Church, Richmond, Va. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church reception hall. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 5, at 2 p.m. in Onancock, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to Bon Secours Hospice Program, 5801 Bremo Rd., Richmond, Va. 23226.

McLAUGHLIN
George Booker (G.B.) McLaughlin Jr., 45, of Midlothian, died March 29, 2002. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Baird McLaughlin; and daughter, Jennifer McLaughlin; an aunt, Geneva Burkett; mother and father-in-law, Betsy and Aubrey Baird of Bracey; father, George B. McLaughlin Sr.; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Billy Lukens; nephew, Jonathon Lukens; and lifetime friends, Jack and Carla Vipperman. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Jean McLaughlin; brother-in-law, Alan Baird; and grandmother, Fannie Baird. Mr. McLaughlin was an employee of Philip Morris for 25 years. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Woodlake United Methodist Church 11 a.m. Monday, with interment Dale Memorial Park.

MONDREY
Departed this life Wednesday, March 27, 2002, Mrs. Annie S. Mondrey of Amelia, Va. She is survived by her devoted husband, William (Billy) Mondrey Jr.; daughter, Cassandra Mondrey; two sons, Willard and James Mondrey; and a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home, Rt. 360, Amelia. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 1 at 1 p.m. from Liberty Baptist Church, Amelia. Interment church cemetery. MOORE
Mr. Harvey A. Moore, age 72, of Lawrenceville, Virginia, died March 30, 2002. He was the widower of Christine W. Moore and is survived by his daughter, Janet M. Callis and husband, David Callis; and two granddaughters, Linda and Joan Callis, all of Lawrenceville; two sisters, Viola M. Clary of Lawrenceville, and Josy M. Moore of Emporia; and a brother, Thomas C. Moore Jr. of Lawrenceville. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at the Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, where the family will receive friends on Sunday, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Interment will be in Oakwood Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Matthews Chapel United Methodist Church.

Elzie Zetty Morris, age 79, of Mechanicsville, died Thursday, March 28, 2002. Mr. Morris is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carrie R. Morris; one son, Lee Morris and his wife, Denise of Old Church; two grandsons, Stephen Morris and his wife, Stephanie of Centreville and Barrett Morris and his wife, Junko of Boise, Idaho; two great-grandsons, Ryan and Daniel Morris; one brother, Pierrie Morris and his wife, Thelma of Richmond. The family will receive friends Sunday evening 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2002 with interment in Washington Memorial Cemetery in Sandston, Va. Barbara Fowlkes Ritt, 69, of Richmond, died Saturday, March 30, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Aubrey E. Ritt Jr.; a number of cousins; an adopted daughter, Debbie Sutphin; and a beloved friend, Gayle Wells. Mrs. Ritt was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth E. Ritt. She was very active in the Salvation Army and the Home League. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, all day Monday, and where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2. Interment in Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.

Rebecca R. Sanders, age 58, of Millers Tavern, Va., died March 29, 2002. She is survived by her son, Matthew C. Sanders; two sisters, Charlotte Tuck and Debbie Blizzard; four brothers, Wayne, John Randolph, Roger and Mike Robinson. Remains rest at the B.W. White Funeral Home, Aylett, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Service Monday, 12 noon at Mattaponi Baptist Church, King and Queen Co.

SHELTON
Betty Lu Shelton, 51, of Irvington, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 29, 2002. She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband, Gus A. Shelton; her son, Kelly Trice Rowe and his wife, Tiffany; and her only granddaughter, Kathleen of Greenville, S.C. She is also survived by her parents, Baynham T. and Shirley Garrett of Largo, Fla.; two brothers and their families, Robert D. and Pam Garrett of Los Alamos, N.M., and William G. and Amy Garrett of Sparrow Bush, N.Y.; an aunt and uncle, Bob and Winnie Wieker of Clearwater, Fla.; and a host of cousins and friends who loved her; and a very devoted friend, Georgie Fary. She was known and loved by her family, co-workers and friends at Rappahannock General Hospital for her zest for life and her loving and caring nature. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2 p.m. at the Irvington Baptist Church.

Tung Ling Chan Sin, 86, a native of China, died March 28, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Hung Kui Sin; five sons, Roger Pui Sin, Tony Pui Sin, Maffeo Pui Sin, Samson Hon Sin and Simon Hon Sin; two daughters, Bonnie Sin Chan and Shirley Fung Sin; son-in-law, Kent Wai Chan; daughters-in-law, Betty Go Sin, Nga Kam Leung Sin, Bing Huynh Sin and Eliza Yui Sin; ten grandchildren, Michel, Matthew, Winny, Vicky, Carrie, Karen and Garrick Sin and Joanna, Eric and Timothy Chan; two brothers, Wah Yuk Chan and Wah Quian Chan; sister, Yuk Wan Chan Ho. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where, after family services, the procession will leave for Greenwood Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends after 10 a.m. Sunday and Monday.

SLEYMAN
Edna M. Sleyman of Richmond, died Saturday, March 30, 2002. She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Baroody and Hesta Surgent; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Javan Ware and Brandon Owen; his beloved mother, Lillian B.; and father, Linhurst Smith; four sisters, Geraldine Henderson, Kathleen Thomas, Elizabeth Harris, and twin sister, Alberta Barbour; three brothers, Lawrence, Otis, and Lynnard Smith; grandmother, Charlotte Mickie; loving fiancee, Phyllis Owen; devoted friend, Kevin Ferguson; four brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Douglas Owen Smith, 90, formerly of Evanston and Chicago, Ill. and Richmond, Va., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 26, 2002. She was the beloved wife of the late Franklin C. Smith, and a gifted writer and historian with a passion for Biblical research. Private interment Riverview Cemetery.

TARRANT
Sue Schooler Tarrant, 92, of Richmond, widow of the late Julian W. Tarrant, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2002 at Beth Sholom Home. She is survived by her son, Stephen W., of Richmond. An active member of Westover Hills United Methodist Church since moving here with her family in 1950, Suzy was a gracious, compassionate and much loved friend to all who knew her. Born November 24, 1909, she was a native of western Oklahoma, and retained much of the West's spirit of independence and determination. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2. The family will receive friends also from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, at Westover Hills UMC, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Westover Hills UMC and to Beth Sholom Home of Virginia.
