Loving husband, father and grandfather, Leslie William Kulp, 60, of Manquin, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Sally Belcher Kulp; six daughters, Cindy Lee Akin of Del City, Okla., Peggy Lee Heavner of Allen, Okla., Wendy Carol Hood of Richmond, Bobby Jo Creps of Mechanicsville, Jaquilyn D. Napier of Aylett and Amber Kulp of Richmond; one son, Lonnie William Kulp of Harrah, Okla.; 15 grandchildren, Mariquita, B.J., Tony, Timothy, Michael Kulp, Jamie, Brooke, Michael Creps, Brittany, Victoria, Amanda, Jessica, Karaleen, Christopher and Isabelle; one great-grandchild, McKinsey Kulp; and two brothers, Richard and Eugene Kulp. Mr. Kulp was an assembler with AMF Bakery holdings. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2002 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave.

Mary Larger, 83, formerly of Garfield, N.J., the widow of Charles Larger Jr., died February 5, 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Holly Popovich of Long Island, N.Y., Brenda Eschenbach and her husband, Douglas of Clearwater, Fla. and Karen Krack and her husband, Rudy of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Danielle Popovich of Garfield, N.J., Tamara Cheski and her husband, Matthew of Elmwood Park, N.J. and Jennifer and Jessica Krack of Chesterfield; great-grandchildren, Chelsea DeRitter and Sierra L'altrella. Visitation and a funeral service will take place in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Virginia, 7231 Forest Ave., Suite 100, Richmond, Va. 23226. The family is being served by the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel.

Mrs. Hazel Maddrey Long, 89, of Farmington Dr., Richmond, Va., died February 5, 2002. Survivors include her daughters, Jean Long Dell'Acqua of Spruce Pine, N.C. and Margaret Ann Long Bayer and her husband, Arthur of Knoxville, Tenn.; a son, Samuel C. Long and his wife, Marylin of Richmond, Va.; four sisters, Moselle Comer, Helen McNally, Julia Hassell and Maxine Earley; a brother, Cecil J. Maddrey II; three grandchildren, Vivian Dell'Acqua, Natalie Marie Long and Wade Long. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 8, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Severn United Methodist Church by Rev. Lee Pittard. Burial will follow at Severn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, N.C. Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Severn United Methodist Church, Severn, N.C. 27877.

MARCH
Mr. Garland Lee March, 93, of Richmond, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 5, 2002. He was the widower of Margaret March and is survived by his two daughters, Kathleen M. Horner and Joanne Lee Saylor; four grandchildren, Christopher Saylor, Christine Williams, Julie Fato and Matthew Saylor; and four great-grandchildren, Allison and Derrek Saylor, John Fato Jr. and Dylan Williams. Mr. March retired from the Federal Reserve Bank after 45 years of service. The family will receive friends at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday with a Christian Wake service being held at 7 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Bridget's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Bridget's Catholic Church, 6006 Three Chopt Rd., Richmond, Va. 23226 or Bon Secours Hospice, 5857 Bremo Rd., Suite 710, Richmond Va. 23226.

MEDWID
Mrs. Anna B. Medwid, 82, of Richmond, passed away on February 5, 2002. She is survived by her husband Mykolaj Medwid; her three children, Steve Medwid, Maria Lacy and Michael Medwid; and her six grandchildren, Kiam Layne, Nick and Kathleen Medwid, Jonathan and Patrick Lacy and Alex Medwid. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, 6006 Three Chopt Rd. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel is handling these arrangements.

MOORE
Ruth Ragland Moore, 84, of Richmond, widow of Lee D. Moore Jr., died Monday, February 4, 2002. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her son, David Lee Moore. She is survived by her son, Harold E. Moore and his wife, Barbara; her daughter, Carolyn J. Moore; her daughter-in-law, Joanne Moore; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Moore was a long-time member of Boulevard United Methodist Church. Her remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2002. Interment Riverview Cemetery.

PARKER
Louise Parker, 85, a long-time resident of Hampton until recently moving to Midlothian, died Monday, February 4, 2002 after a short illness. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Parker of Midlothian and Barbara Leadman and her husband, Roger of Midlothian; two sons and their wives, Charles (Red) and Pat Parker of Hampton and Tom and Debie Parker of Midlothian; a sister, Edna B. Nichols; and a brother, Frank Brady, both of Belarthur, N.C., seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton by Rev. Gary W. Light. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

PARSLEY
William C. "Dick" Parsley, 75, of Mechanicsville, passed away February 4, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Shaw Parsley; son, Danny L. Crumpler Sr. of Saganaw, Mich.; grandson, Danny L. Crumpler Jr. of Richmond; granddaughter, Amy Beth Hawes of Roanoke; two nephews, Rev. G. Wayne Parsley of Parksley and Eddie Bruce Parsley of West Point; two nieces, LaNette P. Boyd of Lanexa and Elaine R. Anglim of Mechanicsville; a great-niece and great-nephews. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where an American Legion Service will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday by Post 175, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2002. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Virginia or the American Heart Association.

PAYNE
Louis William "Louie" Payne, 90, of Kents Store, died February 4, 2002 in a Richmond hospital. He was born February 5, 1911 in Goochland County, son of the late Joseph T. and Ella Roberts Payne. He was also preceded in death by one brother, George Payne; and three sisters, Inez Harris, Hazel Farris and Georgie Payne. Louie was an excellent farmer his entire adult life, a member of Forest Grove Christian Church and a member of Cabell Masonic Lodge No. 328 A.F. & A.M. He is survived by one nephew, George Franklin Payne and his wife, Theresa; one niece, JoAnne P. Zickefoose and her husband, Randy; one great nephew, Scott Zickefoose; and one great niece, Amy Zickefoose, all of Kents Store. Graveside services, with full Masonic rites, will be held at 12 noon on Friday, February 8 at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Wayne Martin and the Rev. Tim Jones will officiate. Family will receive friends at the Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this evening.

RATLIFF
Ethel M. Ratliff, age 83, of Syracuse, N.Y., formerly of Stony Creek, Va., after a short illness, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 1, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ratliff; daughter, Ruby Jones; mother and father, George and Martha Jones; four brothers, George E., William A., Lawrence H. and Joe H. Jones; two sisters, Minnie Brown and Julia Mason. She leaves to cherish her memory seven grandchildren, among them one devoted, Michael Ratliff of Syracuse, N.Y.; 24 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Laura Urquhart (Robert) of Stony Creek, Va., Queenie Pleasant (Harvey) of Richmond, Mary Bussey and Shirley Mitchell (Ocie) of Detroit, Mich.; one brother, Willie Jones (Clara) of Yale, Va.; a host of nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, MaryEmma Jones; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where the family will receive friends Thursday, 7 to 8 p.m. Remains will lie in state Friday, 12 noon at Hunting Quarters Baptist Church, Stony Creek, Va., where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Rev. Kenneth W. Johnson Jr. officiating. Burial church cemetery.

SALMON
Dolly M. Salmon, 82, of Richmond, died February 5, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Jack A. Salmon; her three sons, Jack, James and Jerry; and one daughter-in-law, Mary; four grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Freeman, Margie Hudson and Elsie Wootton; two brothers, James and Larry Dalton. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and where services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday. SMITHERS
Caroline Sims Smithers, widow of J. Westwood Smithers, died in Richmond on February 5, 2002. She is survived by her son, J. Westwood Smithers Jr. and his wife, Nancyellen Kenae Smithers; two grandchildren, J. Westwood Smithers III and Caroline Austin Freeman Smithers; one brother, the Rev. Mr. Wilbur M. Sims, a retired Episcopal Priest of Cascade, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal church, were she sang in the Choir for many years, The Woman's Club and the Farmington Country Club. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on Friday, February 8 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the J. Westwood Smithers Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Richmond Law School, Richmond, Virginia 23173.

SPEARS
Selden Wood Spears, 96, of Richmond, widower of Mary Stephenson Spears, died Tuesday, February 5, 2002. He is survived by his nephews, John Walton Grandy III and John Murray Stephenson; niece, Jeanne Grandy Watkins; great-nephews, Sherwood Spears Dance, John Walton Grandy IV, Derek Michael Stephenson, Kristofer Stephenson and Jeremy Stephenson; great-nieces, Carolyn Dance Turner, Kathleen Watkins Luton, Susan Watkins Ferebee and Megan Stephenson; sister-in-law, Audrey Waters Stephenson; and godson, Catlin Emmett Tyler Jr. Mr. Spears was a graduate of Midlothian High School in 1924 and was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2002 in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Midlothian. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Bethel Baptist Church. Arrangements by the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home.

TREXLER
Ruth Elizabeth Sandridge Trexler, age 91, of Richmond, died February 6, 2002. She was the widow of Frank James Trexler Sr. and was preceded in death by a son, Donald Lee Trexler. She is survived by a son, Frank J. Trexler Jr. and a host of grandchildren, great-grandgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Trexler was a member of Gayton Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends Thursday 2 to 4 p.m. and Friday 6 to 8 p.m. and where funeral services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gayton Baptist Church Building Fund.

TYLER
Jonathan Winston Tyler departed this life on February 3, 2002 in Richmond, Va. He was born May 18, 1977 to James Lewis Tyler and Barbara Werts Tyler. He is survived by his two sisters, Natalie of Durham, N.C., Beverly of Austin, Texas; and his grandmother, Ellen B. Werts of Portsmouth, Va. He is also survived by his devoted friends, Damon Werts, Scott Ball and Denae Goodman, as well as a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives and friends. Johnathan was a 1995 graduate of Godwin High School, and earned his associate's degree from ECPI Technical College. He was employed at Target Stores for two years. During his brief life, he touched many lives with his humor, generosity of spirit, and his keen intellect. His remains rest at W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, 2700 North Ave. Funeral services will be conducted at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5600 Monument Ave. Friday, February 8, 2002 at 1 p.m. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens. His family will receive friends at 12 noon at the church.

WATLINGTON
Robert L. "Bobby" Watlington Jr., 39, of Richmond, departed this life February 5, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Watlington; three children, Emily, Kelsey and Robert L. Watlington III; parents, Judy and Lee Watlington; sister, Elizabeth; brother, William; loving and supportive in-laws, Joyce and Chris Ellis; and extended family and friends. Bobby was Manager of Data Processing Operations for the Commonwealth Department of Motor Vehicles and a Certified Computing Professional. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.

WIEBER
Mary Agnes Wieber of Richmond, widow of Lawrence J. Wieber, died February 5, 2002. She is survived by five children, Peggy Wieber, Tom Wieber and his wife, Lyle, Gerard Wieber, Cathy Daly and her husband, Dan, Michael Wieber and his wife, Michelle; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Mrs. Wieber was a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with a Christian Wake being held at 7 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

WIENBARG
Ragnheidur (Ragna) G. Wienbarg, age 83, of Midlothian, Va., died Tuesday, February 5, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Diederick M. Wienbarg, Midlothian, Va.; daughters, Svandis Carson and her husband, Ken, Richmond, Va., Arlene Y. Oskarsdottir, Portland, Ore.; son, Richard Martin Wienbarg, Northern Virginia; seven grandchildren; and brother, Gisli Gislison, Reykjavik, Iceland. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, Va. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

WORD
David Malloy Word III, a lifelong resident of Buckingham Co., died at his residence on Tuesday, February 5, 2002. He was born on October 25, 1928 at the family home, Locust Grove, to David Malloy Word Jr. and Carrie Anderson Word. Being predeceased by his son, David Molloy Word IV, he is survived by his wife, Frances Garnett Word, a sister, Ann Word Dunn and husband, Raymond L. of Newport News; nieces, Dian D. and husband, Bernard A. Wright of Poquoson and Kelly D. and husband, Scott E. Vaughn; a nephew, Raymond L. Dunn Jr., all of Newport News. he attended public schools in Buckingham Co. and graduated from Buckingham County High School in 1947; was an active member of Enon Baptist Church where he currently served as Deacon Chairman; served two years in the United States Army with most of this time being spent with Post Occupational Forces in Germany; was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Dillwyn, the Buckingham Chamber of Commerce, the Buckingham County Ruritan and conducted a life and health insurance business from his residence. Services will be held at Enon Baptist Church on Friday, February 8, 2002 at 2 p.m. with interment in the church cemetery. Family night will be held at Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Buckingham Co. Rescue Squad, the Buckingham Co. Fire Department, or the Building Fund of Enon Baptist Church.
