COFFINDAFFER
Paul J. Coffindaffer, 83, of Colonial Heights, died Monday, October 15, 2001 at Chippenham Medical Center, Richmond. He was a native of West Virginia, the son of the late James Walter and Effie Clark Coffindaffer and the widower of Arline B. Coffindaffer. He was a retired civil service employee at Fort Lee with the Post Engineers, a former Petersburg police officer and a former employee for the City of Colonial Heights. Mr. Coffindaffer was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2239 in Colonial Heights and a member of the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284. He attended Sunday school at Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Joy C. Majkowski and husband, Dan of Chesterfield, Joanne C. Faison of Colonial Heights; three grandchildren, Ron Christopher Seckora and wife, Patricia, Lori Anne Storrs and husband, Lucas and Kimberly Faison; five great-grandchildren, Payton and Porter Riley, Ashley, Amanda and Ethan Seckora. Special friends are Roy Hannuksela, E. Todd, Ben Faison, Phil and Ethel Daniel and Aubrey Beatley. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 18, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, with the Rev. Dr. Dean Frazeur and the Rev. Jerry Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the Colonial Heights Emergency Medical Services, 1507 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.

William (Juicy) Coleman of Richmond entered eternal rest October 13, 2001. Cherishing his memory are his wife, companion and friend of 24 years, Dorothy; numerous children, stepchildren and grandchildren; a devoted cousin, Barbara Johnson; other relatives and friends. COLLINS
Peggy Wyatt Collins, 70, of Prince George County, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Louis H. Collins; two sons, Louis H. Collins Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Forsythe, Ga and Patrick M. Collins of Chesterfield County, Va.; and a sister, Betty Jo Zermeno of Houston, Texas. Mrs. Collins was a member of Faith Lutheran Parrish where a memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, October 18. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Faith Church, Prince George County, Va. 23842.

CRAWLEY
Gus W. "Dick" Crawley, 70, of Ashland passed away Saturday, October 13, 2001. He was preceeded in death by his parents Ira T. Crawley and Bessie P. Crawley. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marian B. Crawley; two sons, Gus W. Jr. and Jerry W. Crawley; two daughters, Debbie C. Anthony and Gina C. Hale; a brother, Earl T. Crawley; three sisters, Eula M. Stanley, Lillian F. and Bertie A. Crawley; also six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. Mr. Crawley was a retired truck driver and member of the Teamsters Union #592 and an avid huntsman. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday (today), at Reid Funeral Home 412 S. Washington Hwy, Ashland, with burial to follow in Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Outreach of Christ Ministry (Duke's Chapel), P.O. DAVIS
Kenneth George Davis, 49, of Chester, died October 16, 2001 in John Randolph Hospital. Mr. Davis was born in Bedford, Pa., a son of the late Edgar and Georgie Slick Davis. He was a computer specialist at the Defense Supply Center of Richmond. Survivors include his wife, Vera Davis; two sons, Timothy George Davis, Daniel Scott Davis, all of Chester; two brothers, Charles Davis of Bedford, Pa. and James Davis of Somerset, Pa. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 19 in the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd. and visitation will follow until 9 p.m. The interment will be private. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.

DOLAN
Mr. John M. Dolan Jr., 83, of Richmond, died on October 15, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda P. Dolan; five children, John M. Dolan III and his wife, Hannah, Edward G. Dolan and his wife, Ann, Donna D. Jackson, Faye D. Willard, and Stephen B. Dolan Sr. and his wife, Dana; one brother, Edward F. Dolan and his wife, Shirley; two sisters, Mary Ellen Woodson and Thelma B. Jones; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Dolan was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, a retired Captain with the Richmond Fire Department, and a lifelong member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary's Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a Christian Wake service being held at 7:30 p.m. at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Rd., Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

FAISON
Asa B. Faison, age 91, of Richmond, passed away Monday, October 15, 2001. Survived by his wife of 68 years, Pearl Lee Faison; two daughters, Beverley F. Hughes of Glen Allen and Carole F. Rasmussen of Lansdale, Pa.; three grandchildren, Matthew Reid Williams, Elisabeth Faison Williams and Laura Lee Williams; four great-grandchildren. Mr. Faison was a retired police detective with the Richmond Police Department with over 40 years of service. He was a member of Westhampton United Methodist Church, the Fraternal Order of Police, Henrico Union Lodge No. 130, ACCA Temple Shrine and the Eastern Star. Remains rest at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.

Nelson W. Gaskin, age 71, formerly of Powhatan County, departed this life Tuesday, October 16, 2001. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral notice later.

Aleta I. Glasgow, age 34, of Richmond, entered eternal rest unexpectedly on Saturday, October 13, 2001. She will lovingly remembered by a daughter, Blair Lee Glasgow; her son, Joshua Brian Glasgow; mother, Priscilla V. Johnson; father, Walter T. Glasgow Jr.; a loving and devoted stepfather, William O. Johnson Sr.; sister, Marlow Gaskins; brothers, Walter Glasgow III and Sean L. Glasgow; grandmother, Hattie Glasgow; aunt, Ramone G. Charity; uncle, Percell Granger; great-aunt, Lucille Bell; several nieces, nephews and cousins, other relatives and many friends, among devoted, Timothy Richardson, Freddie Dabney III, Danita Conner, Carlos Orange, Pamela Johnson and Valarie Jackson. Marie S.T. Hay, 87, of Walkerton, Va., died on October 16, 2001. Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Morton Hay; and a daughter, Marie Eileen Hay; she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Russell Conwell Hay and Marjorie Hanscom Hay of Hawthorne, Fla.; her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn Hay Villanueva and Edward Villanueva; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren, all of Richmond, Va. A past President of the King & Queen County Women's Club, she was a hostess at the Governor's Mansion for 28 years and a volunteer at Westminster Canterbury. Graveside services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Miller's Tavern, Va. on October 18 at 2 p.m. Your prayers and good thoughts are requested. B.W. Cornelia Powell "Billie" Hudgins, age 89, of Blackstone, Va., died Sunday, October 14, 2001. She was the widow of R. Kenneth Hudgins and is survived by a son, Kenneth Hudgins Jr. of Hopewell; three grandchildren, Kenneth Hudgins III of Richmond, Tammy H. Swader and Morris Hudgins, both of Hopewell; two great-grandsons; three brothers, Walter Lee Powell of Mechanicsville, Gene Powell of Norfolk and Glenn Powell of Sutherland; two sisters, Betty P. Elmore of Pulaski and Nancy P. Hardaway of California. Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 18 at 11 a.m. in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackstone. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 17 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hamner-McMillian Funeral Home, Blackstone.

JAMERSON
Calvin D. Jamerson, 58, of Scottsville, died October 16, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Jamerson; a daughter, Jan Sherie Jamerson of Richmond; five stepchildren, Connie Spinks, Bob Kelley and Robbie Kelley, all of West Virginia, David Kelley and Steve Kelley, both of Richmond; five sisters, Florence Wright of Dillwyn, Hazel Morton of Scottsville, Jennie Banton and Rosie Wright, both of Richmond and Ruth Brown of Maryland; two brothers, George Jamerson of Scottsville and Acie Jamerson of Richmond; and 12 stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist church. Interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dilwyn.

JONES
Callom Hunter Jones, 82, died at his home in Ashland on October 14, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marcyne Owdom Jones; one sister, Dorothy Gardner Jones; two daughters, Sandra Jones Lynne, Sarah Jones Byrne and her husband, Larry; three sons, Stephen Hunter Jones and his wife, Donna, Scott Whitlow Jones and his wife, Martha, Stuart Barret Jones and his wife, Karen; his grandchildren, Allan Hunter Lynne and his wife, Julie, Joshua Joseph Lynne, John Andrew Lynne, Caleb Hunter Jones, Miles Pendleton Jones, Robert Carl Ridout, Marcie Frances Byrne, Anne Holladay Byrne, Stephanie Marie Jones, Sarah Natalie Jones and Annie Barron Ridout. After graduating in 1939 from Randolph-Macon College, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order social fraternity and the Pi Gamma Mu honorary fraternity, he served in both the European and Pacific Theatres. He was honorably discharged with the rank of captain at the end of World War II. In 1947, he joined the CPA firm of Mitchell, Wiggins & Company. He retired as senior partner in 1986. During this time, he was also an adjunct professor of accounting at Randolph-Macon College. From 1975-1994, he served on the Board of Trustees at Randolph-Macon. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree by Randolph-Macon in 1996. Mr. Jones was past president of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) and a past president of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. He served on the Ashland Town Council for 22 years with one term as mayor of Ashland. Also, he was one the founders and first president of Hanover Country Club, as well as one of the original developers of Country Club Hills. He was instrumental in establishing the Patrick Henry YMCA and served on its Board until his death. He also was on the Board of Directors of the Greater Richmond YMCA. He and his family own and operate Sally Bell's Kitchen. Mr. Jones was a lifelong member, Elder and Trustee of Ashland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The family will receive friends at his home Tuesday and Wednesday. A memorial service will be held at Ashland Christian Church on Saturday, October 20 at 11 a.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Ashland Christian Church Building Fund, 301 South James Street, Ashland, Va. 23005.

KIMBALL
Shirlee Pinkleton Kimball, 65, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 15, 2001. She was the widow of Roger Lee Kimball. She is survived by four sisters, Evelyn Green, Ruby Culliton, Jewell Stells and Delores Martin; two brothers, Waverly and Hildirth Pinkleton; numerous nieces and nephews and many loving friends. No visitation is scheduled. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday (today) in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Red Cross. Morrissett Funeral Home handling arrangements.

MACK
Dr. Garnett Lloyd Mack, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Virginia State University, departed this life Monday, October 15, 2001, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va. A native of Chase City, Va., Dr. Mack was the son of the late Garnett and Susanna Gayle Mack. He was also a U.S. Army veteran from 1956 to 1965. He was a graduate of Thyne Institute, Chase City, Va.; Storer College, Harper's Ferry, W.Va. with a degree in English (Cum Laude); A.M. degree in English (1966), George Washington University; Master of Philosophy in English and American Literature (1969), George Washington University; and a Doctor of Philosophy in English and American Literature (1972). His professional experiences include over 27 years as Professor of English at Virginia State University. He was truly a Shakespeare and an Afro American Literature Scholar. He retired as Distinguished Professor Emeritus of English and Coordinator of Graduate Studies, Virginia State University in September 1999. He is survived by a devoted and loving wife of 38 years, Janice McManus Mack; three sons, Luis Garnett (Trenda) of Ettrick, Lloyd Joseph (Tarah) of Fort Jackson, S.C. and Johnnie L. Beale (Carolyn) of Fayetteville, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Cherrelle Mack (Ettrick), Janie Mack (Greensboro, N.C.), Isaiah L. Mack and Monasia Mack (Fort Jackson, S.C.), Caitalin Beale and Jonathan Beale (Fayetteville, Ga.), Jasmine Tucker (Ettrick, Va.), and Maya Wilkerson (Greensboro, N.C.); four brothers, Toy, William, Tommy, and Roland Mack of Washington, D.C.; one devoted niece, Alice Chamberlaine of Washington, D.C.; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice Johnson and brother, Raw Mack of Washington, D.C. He was affiliated with the following: member and ordained deacon, Shiloh Baptist; member, Advisory Council, Foster Grandparent Association of Petersburg, Va.; free lance writer and editor, The New Horizon Newsletter-The Children's Home of Virginia Baptist, Inc.; member, Board of Directors, Memorial Guidance Clinic; member, The Baptist Children's Home Improvement Association; past president and member, Deacon and Deaconess Union of Chesterfield County and Vicinity; president, Virginia State Baptist Deacons Convention Women's Auxiliary and Youth Department; mentor and tutor, Children's Home After School Program; notary public, Commonwealth of Virginia; founder and president, The James A. Gayle, Esquire Memorial Fellowship Fund, Inc., and member, Triple Nickel Airborne Division, Petersburg Chapter 25. Dr. Mack received the following honors: Valedictorian and Storer Scholar, Storer College, Harper's Ferry, W.Va.; Honorary Member, Alpha Mu Gamma National Foreign Language Honor Society, Virginia State University; Graduate Doctoral Fellow, Southern Fellowship Fund; Community Leaders and Noteworthy American Citation; AUS Good Conduct Medal, United States Army; National American Studies Fellow; IBC Presidential Award; Outstanding Alumnus, Virginia Union University; Citizen of the Year Award, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Nu Psi Chapter, VSU; Father of the Year Award, Shiloh Baptist Church (1992); Community Service Citation-Children's Home of Virginia Baptist, Inc. (1983); and Certificate of Appreciation and Plaque, Memorial Guidance Clinic (1993). Dr. Mack has written many publications, conference papers and book reviews. He was truly a humanitarian who has touched the lives of many persons through his personal life as a family man, mentor and gentleman, his professional career as a teacher, and his spiritual life as a Christian. A family hour and viewing of the remains will be Thursday, October 18, 2001 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, Inc., Colonial Heights, Va. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, October 20, 2001, 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 6711 Hickory Rd., Petersburg, Va. 23803.
