Mr. Thomas S. Baylor, retired City of Richmond employee, departed this life February 1, 2002. The staff of the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home is serving his family.

BRANDL
John Brandl, 20, of Richmond, died Thursday, January 31, 2002. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Susan and Joe Jenkins; his brother, Cody Brandl; maternal grandfather, Jack O'Connell; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, in Dale Memorial Park.

BROOKS
Thelma Marie (Jones) Brooks of Richmond entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 31, 2002. She is survived by her children, Bernardair (Bernie) Sapp and Robert (Bobby) T. Brooks III; three grandchildren, Brent and Brittany Brooks and JaMahl Sapp; mother, Oleta L. Jones; grandmother, Ella Mae Jones of Charles City County, Va.; brothers, Howard Jones Jr. (Frances), Edward (Billy) S. Jones (Rita); sisters, Helen (Jackie) Williamson (Jesse), Margaret Jones (Clyde) and Garlene Wilson (Nathaniel); a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Streets, where the family will receive friends Sunday, February 3 (today), 5 to 6 p.m. and where funeral services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., Rev. Lloyd Cosby officiating. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Relatives and friends attending funeral services assemble at the funeral home Monday, 10:30 a.m.

CAMPBELL
Eliza Pauline Campbell, born September 15, 1917, died February 1, 2002, in Charlottesville. She retired from the Virginia State Police in 1982 and lived most of her life in Richmond. She is survived by three children, James E. Campbell and his wife, Heidi of Richmond, Robert L. Campbell of Southbury, Conn. and Paula C. Cormier and her husband, Larry of Palmyra, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and where services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Dale Memorial Park.

CARTER
Linwood H. Carter Jr., 56, of Richmond, died Saturday, February 2, 2002 at Retreat Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

COLEMAN
Departed this life February 1, 2002, Robert E. (Snookum) Coleman. Arrangements by Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Avenue. Notice of funeral later.

CROWE
Carl E. Crowe, 72, of Richmond, passed away February 2, 2002. He was the widower of Jean Thorpe Crowe. He is survived by his son, Kenneth C. Crowe and his wife, Becky and their children, Megan and Ben; daughter, Janet L. Crowe; and four sisters, Sue Johnson, Eunice Clayton, Grace Hale and Elizabeth Ashworth. Mr. Crowe retired from Mountainside Transport. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Internment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice, 8580 Magellen Parkway, Windsor Park, Richmond, Va. 23227.

DUNAWAY
Virginia Procise Dunaway, 79, of Colonial Heights, died Friday, February 1, 2002 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late John L. and Nettie Jackson Procise and the widow of Harris R. Dunaway Sr. She is survived by her son, Rick Dunaway of Richmond; and a half sister, Hoy Whitlock of Norfolk. Graveside services will be conducted Monday, February 4, 2002 at 2 p.m. in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, with the Rev. Harry B. Jones officiating. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Virginia, P.O. Box 7065, Richmond, Va. 23221-0065. Arrangements are being handled by E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights.

EAST
Donald T. East, 62, of Midlothian, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, February 2, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Ruth C. East; son, Wendell East and his wife, Melissa; daughter, Becky Corning and her husband, Dwayne; four grandchildren, Abbey and Daniel East, Nicholas Thrasher and D.J. Corning; and sister, Bonnie Snydor of Roanoke, Va. Mr. East served in the U.S. Army during the 1960s and was a 30 year employee of Reynolds Metals Company. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends on Monday from 4 to 8:30 p.m., and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Entombment Dale Memorial Park.

FRANZ
Major Edward T. Franz, USAF (Ret.), 80, of Richmond, departed this life February 1, 2002. He retired from a successful 23 year career in the U.S. Air Force in 1962, and Federal Civil Service in 1986. He served his country proudly as a veteran in both World War II and Korea. He is survived by his especially devoted wife, Lois R. Franz; four children, Edward Franz Jr., Gregory Franz, Marsha Franz and Valli Vechlekar; his brother, Jack Franz; and sister, Sally Lee Fraas; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church in Richmond. His family will receive friends on Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., and where funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Monday. Interment will be at a later date.

GIANNONE
Michael Giannone, 29, of Midlothian, passed away January 31, 2002. A student at John Tyler Community College and full time caregiver to his three children. He is survived by his loving wife of three years, Sandy Giannone; his children, Cale, Marley; and his son, Tyler; his father, George Giannone; mother, Barbara Stiles; brother, Mark Giannone and his wife, Jenny; grandmother, Filomena Giannone; also two nieces, Allison and Julia. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

GOODMAN

GRAY
Mrs. Bessie G. (Big Bessie) Gray of 4801 Suecla Drive, formerly of 1809 Short Q. Street and 1509 N. 26th Street, slipped quietly away Thursday January 31, 2002. She leaves to mourn three daughters, Ella Miles (Charles), Louise Randolph and Bessie Jones; son, Samuel Gray; 18 grandchildren; one devoted, Samuel Gray Jr.; 45 great-grandchildren, a host of great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Avenue, where funeral services will be held on Monday 1 p.m., with Rev. Keith Manuel officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. HAIRFIELD
Florence G. Hairfield, 91, of Richmond, passed away February 1, 2002. She is survived by two sons, Theodore P. and John R. Hairfield of Richmond; and one daughter, Katherine H. Chandler of Fredericksburg; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Dale Memorial Park.

HALE
Eunice Marie Hale, 55, of Callao, died February 2, 2002. Surviving are husband, Roy A. Hale; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn M. and Todd Jewell Farnham; grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua and Jacob Jewell; sister, Laura Ann Sharpley, Irvington; brothers, John Tignor, Kilmarnock, Glenn Tignor, Irvington and Earl W. Tignor, White Stone. She was preceded in death by her father, Stephen Sharpley; and mother, Egowena Tignor. Funeral services 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Rainswood. Interment Northern Neck Memorial Gardens, Callao. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial to American Cancer Society.

HATCHEL
Mabel Brooks Hatchel of Hopewell, died February 1, 2002. She was the wife of M.J. Hatchel of Hopewell. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Gould Chapel. A celebration of life service will be conducted at the graveside in Southlawn Memorial Park on Monday at 10 a.m. Memorial considerations may be made to Hopewell Emergency Crew.

JACKSON
Departed this life February 2, 2002, Mrs. Adell T. Jackson of Richmond. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral notice later.

JENKINS
Retired Eastman Executive William "Bill" Jenkins Jr. died February 1, 2002 at his home in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was 59. A native of West Point, Va., he was a son of the late William C. and Catherine G. Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins graduated from West Point High School, where he played baseball, basketball, and participated extensively in the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. A 1964 graduate of Virginia Tech, he earned BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Jenkins joined Tennessee Eastman in 1967 as a mechanical engineer. During his 32-year career, he worked for the company in Kingsport, Tenn., Columbia, S.C., and Rochester, N.Y. In the 1990's, he served as Manager of Environmental Affairs for the Asian-Pacific Region and began travelling internationally. Mr. Jenkins and his wife, Rita Spears Jenkins, were transferred to Singapore where they lived for four years. During this time they traveled extensively in that region of the world. After his retirement from Eastman in 1999, he pursued his favorite hobbies: making friends and developing vacation properties. In addition to his wife, Mr. Jenkins is survived by his daughter, Kristen B. Jenkins of Atlanta; his son, William C. Jenkins III and wife, Julie and one grandchild, William C. Jenkins IV of Charlotte; one sister, Kathleen J. Vranian and husband, Dr. Robert Vranian of Fredericksburg, Va.; one brother, Joseph R. Jenkins and wife, Sally of Richmond, Va. and mother-in-law, Ruby E. Spears of Kingsport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 106 East Charlemont Avenue, Kingsport, Tenn. and the William C. Jenkins, Jr. Cancer Research Fund, V.C.U. Massey Cancer Center, P.O. Box 980037, Richmond, Va. Service will be Monday, 11 a.m. at First Christian Church, Kingsport, Tenn. with David R. Cordrey, Minister. Family will receive friends immediately after the service. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingport, Tenn. is serving the Jenkins family.

JOHNSON
Departed this life February 1, 2002, Mr. Earl N. Johnson of 8428 Strath Rd., Varina. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

LACY
Marion Louise Lacy, 82, of Mechanicsville, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2002 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Earl Lacy; and is survived by two daughters, Anita Miller and Gloria Cousins; her son, Robert Lacy and his wife, Gay Bowen Lacy; eight grandchildren, Kenny and Denny Miller, Hyla Caton, Danele, Annette and T.K. Cousins, Jason and Robyn Lacy; and nine great-grandchildren, Crystal, Kaleigh, Jordan and Amber Miller, David, Tyler and Hunter Caton, Ayden Cousins- Brown and Gabriel Lacy. Mrs. Lacy was a retired employee of Miller & Rhodes Department Store. Her remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and where a celebration of her life will take place 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Washington Memorial Park.
