WOOTTON
Mary Elizabeth Wootton, 92, of Buckingham, Va. residing at Heritage Hall, Dillwyn, died February 1, 2002. She was the widow of Emmett Lewis Wootton. She is survived by three daughters, Lucy W. Campbell, Alice W. Richardson, both of Richmond, and Ann W. Wilkins of Clayton, N.C.; three sons, Lewis P. of Macon, Ga., Warren T. of Modesto, Calif., and Earl E. of Farmville; five grandchildren; one sister, Lucy Augustine Brooking of Richmond. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Enon Baptist Church, Rt. 640, Dillwyn, Va. 23936. Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, is in charge of arrangements.

ALLEN
Mrs. Martha K. Allen of 1504 Blair St., died September 30, 2001. Remains rest at Scott-Lightfoot Funeral Home, 3021 "N" St. Funeral notice later.

BALL
Leslie Ann Ball of Richmond, formerly of Weems, Lancaster Co., Va. died September 29, 2001 after a brief illness. Born January 1, 1936. Preceded in death by her father, Harry Walton Ball, mother, Irma Hundley Ball, sister, Nan Ball Kues, and her niece, Debra Kues, all of Weems. Survived by her aunt, Annette Hundley Rowe of Baltimore; uncle, James Robert Hundley of Heathsville; and many cousins and friends. She was a 2000 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and a member of Grace Covenent Presbyterian Church, Richmond. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2001 at Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church, Weems.

BOYD
Stephanie Gail Boyd, 23, of Richmond, was called to be an angel with the Lord suddenly September 29, 2001. She was a part-time student at VCU and a full time employee with World Investors Link. She is survived by her mother, Barbara S. Boyd of Brandon, Fla.; her father, Randy E. Boyd and his wife, Kathy of Midlothian; maternal grandmother, Jennie P. Clatte of Richmond; paternal grandfather, Otha (Dock) Boyd of Greenville, N.C. Other survivors include her aunt, Norma S. Gilbert; uncles, Ronald W. Stokes and Erwin R. Boyd; and ten cousins. The family will receive friends and family Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. Interment Dale Memorial Park.

BURNSTEIN
Mrs. Carol M. Burnstein, 68, a loving wife and mother, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2001. She was born in Chicago, Ill., graduated from the University of Illinois as an occupational therapist, and later became a Feldenkrais practitioner. She married Sidney Burnstein Jr. and moved to Richmond in 1956. She is survived by her husband; a son, Ken Burnstein; daughters, Lynne Demestre, Shari Perago; her son-in-law, Gene Demestre; two grandchildren, Jena and Chasen Demestre; and her devoted dog, Nikki. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 1, 2001 at the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St. The family will be receiving guests following the service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Massey Cancer Center or the charity of your choice.

CARY
Mrs. Ida Catherine Cary of Doswell, Va., departed this life Sunday, September 30, 2001. Remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland. Funeral notice later.

Mr. Lawrence L. Charity Sr., retired Richmond Public Schools assistant principal, departed this life September 30, 2001. The staff of the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home is serving his family.

GILLESPIE
Ruth G. Gillespie, 81, of Amelia, died September 29, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Gillespie. She is survived by her daughter, Judith W. Woodruff; and son-in-law, Richard; two brothers, four sisters, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with interment in Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Chesterfield Baptist Church Building Fund.

JACKSON

JENNETTE
Leon Hobson Jennette Sr., 98, of Richmond, died Saturday, September 29, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Horner Jennette; son, Leon H. Jennette Jr.; and three sisters, Annie Belle Smithwick, Ardath Williams and Stella Schlieser. His remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Bonnie Brae Church of Christ, 7610 Staples Mill Rd. Interment 1 p.m., Popes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Popes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, P.O. Box 592, Montross, Va. 22520.

JENNINGS
H. Clint Jennings, 79, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2001. Surviving him are his wife of 55 years, Eleanor Carpenter Jennings; son, Larry Jennings and his daughters, Ann and Blair; son, Gary and his wife, Kathy and their daughters, Keri and Ali; son, Stephen and his wife, Theresa and their children, Eli and Grace; brother, Garland Jennings; sister, Margaret O'Shell, both of Richmond. Clint was raised in Burkeville, Va., enlisted in the Army Air Force and fought in the Philipines during WW II. He returned to Richmond to work for C&P Telephone Co. for 43 years. He was a charter member of Bon Air Baptist Church and Huguenot Road Baptist Church. Clint was Chairman of the Building Committee for the Bon Air Sanctuary. Since 1991, he has been a member of the First Baptist Church, Panama City Beach, Fla., where he led Men's Bible Study. Clint will be missed by friends and family. He understood the strength of the word love. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Huguenot Road Baptist Church. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Huguenot Road Baptist Church, 10525 W. Huguenot Rd., Richmond, Va. 23235.

JONES
Kenneth Lee Jones, 40, of Chesterfield, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 27, 2001. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of nearly 18 years, Terri W. Jones; and beloved children, Kelly and Brent Jones; his loving parents, Bobby and Jackie Jones; brother, Greg and his wife, Stacey; niece, Ashley; grandmothers, Ruby Witt and Mary Jones; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Jeanette Wilkinson. Mr. Jones was blessed to be loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Mr. Jones was an electrician with Local Union No. 666 and was a member of Lyndale Baptist Church, where he was to be ordained a deacon. Mr. Jones was very active in youth sports in Chesterfield, coaching boys and girls at Smith and Spring Run Associations. His spirit and kind heart will be missed by all. The family would like to thank their friends, community, coworkers, and the doctors, nurses and staff at the MCV Burn Center for their care and support. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday and where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. KIRBY
Mrs. Helen Davis Kirby, age 81, went to be with her Lord Saturday, September 29, 2001, widow of Rev. Clyde A. Kirby; beloved mother of four sons and one daughter, Michael A. Kirby of Trevillians, Paul B. Kirby of Yorktown, David M. Kirby of Mechanicsville, Rev. Timothy B. Kirby of Hayes, Va., and Miriam Kirby Sodergren of Fredericksburg; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Mrs. Kirby was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Remains rest at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, and where services will be held 2 p.m. Monday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ashcake Vol. Rescue Squad.

KIRKLAND
Mrs. Grace E. Kirkland, 78, of Richmond, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on September 29, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, J. Roy Kirkland; two sons, L. Duane and his wife, Jayne and Ralph A.; one daughter, Lois C.; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kirkland was a charter member of Welborne United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., on Monday, October 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at Welborne United Methodist Church. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.

LACKS
Departed this life September 27, 2001, Willie Lacks Jr. He was preceded in death by two sons, Cornelius Lacks and Leroy Logan. He is survived by his devoted wife, Myrtle Lacks; four children, Carol Lomax, Carolyn Fowler, Oscar and Diane Lacks; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Davis and Patricia Allmon; uncle, Charlie Burns; two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, one daughter-in-law, two sons-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, where family will receive friends tonight, 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, 1 p.m. from Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. LAM
Siem Chau Lam of Richmond, Va., was taken by her Lord to enter life eternal on Saturday, September 29, 2001. Siem was born October 17, 1949 to Huu Duy Lam and Nong Si Chau in Haiduong, Vietnam. In addition to her parents, she is mourned by her loving husband, Cam Lam; and her daughters, Jennifer Pagels (John), Minh Lam Jurgens (Freddy) and Elizabeth Lam. In addition, she is sorely missed by her nieces, Michelle Lam, Julie Lam and Mi Mi Lam, who were raised by Siem and lived with her for several years. Other surviving family members are a brother, Tinh Lam in Seattle, Wash.; sisters, Siem My Lam, Elizabeth Lam, Kimberly Mason; brothers, Louie Chau, David Chau and Tony Lam in Los Angeles, Calif.; and a sister, Lan Tu in Richmond, Va. Lois and Robert Blanke, who sponsored Siem and her family 20 years ago, also mourn her death. There will be no visitations other than an hour before the funeral, which will be at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9400 Redbridge Rd., Richmond, Va., 272-7973, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2001. Interment will be at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that a memorial be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church.

MARTIN
Annie P. Martin, 84, of Richmond, passed away September 29, 2001. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Stephen and Charlie Prindes. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Nichols Zeh; three siblings, Margaret Sochor of Massachusetts, Mary Clark and Rudolph Prindes, both of Highland Springs; three grandchildren, Fredrick Zeh, Susan Zeh Revell and Randall Zeh; three great-granddaughters, Sutton and Carter Revell and Piper Zeh. In lieu of flowers, contributins may be made to the New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund, P.O. Box 5028, Albany, N.Y. 12205

MAXTON
Flora Murray Maxton, age 97, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, September 29, 2001, at her home. She was born in Lynchburg, Va. on February 5, 1904, to the late George Percival and Minnie Harris Webber Murray. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jacob Lausch Maxton; a son, Milton Murray Maxton and his wife, Anne Martin Maxton; and a brother, George Percival Murray Jr. Mrs. Maxton was baptized in Lynchburg, Va. and was a member of the Blacksburg Baptist Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary Unit #182, and was a woman of leadership in the community, and had been an organizer and member of many of Blacksburg's organizations and clubs. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Flora M. Maxton and Paul Richard Atchison, Blacksburg; grandchildren, Deborah Lynn Gates-Mauricio and husband, Gilbert Mauricio, Blacksburg, William Martin Maxton, Ruckersville, Susanne Milton Maxton, Charlottesville, Jacob Zeno Gates and wife, Holly Butler Gates, Blacksburg, Milton Murray Maxton II, Mineral, Va., Patrick Bernard, Blacksburg; eight great-grandchildren, Anthony Younger and wife, Cristal Younger and Todd Younger, all of Texas, Matthew and Aaron Maxton, Orange, Va., Brittney and Brandy Maxton, Mineral, Va., Laurel Butler Gates, Blacksburg, Katelyn Renee` Berry, Richmond; two great-great-grandchildren, Michele and Talon Younger, Texas; her extended family, Pat and Joan Di Concilio, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Blacksburg Baptist Church, with Dr. Don McKinney and Dr. Tommy McDearis officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Burial Park, Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Fire Department, 2700 Prices Fork Rd., Blacksburg, Va. 24060, Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress St., N.E., Blacksburg, Va. 24060, American Legion Auxillary Unit #182, c/o Norma Wall, 2195 Harding Rd., Blacksburg, Va. 24060.
